* Comments: Not quite a novelization. More of a reimagining. As much as I love Final Fantasy VI, its narrative can be a bit thin in places. *Darkness and Starlight* fills in the blanks and develops the world and its conflicts more deeply, viewed through the lens of Locke and Celes's relationship. The author loves this game very deeply, and it shows in every word she writes.

* Status: Complete
* Pairing: Terra/Leo
* Synopsis: "General Leo had wanted to help Terra figure out her emotions, but after barely surviving a betrayal at Thamasa, he's left having to re-evaluate his own. Then the end of the world complicates things further."
* Comments: This fic takes a rare pairing and makes it work. The relationship between Terra and Leo is handled with great care, as they address and overcome the obstacles of their age gap, their emotional maturity gap, amnesia, and the World of Ruin. There's even an original opera, Orco e Delphina, written for the story to boot! Most of the focus is placed on Terra and Leo, particularly in the middle chapters, but the other cast members, notably Celes, still get their moments to shine in the beginning and in the end.

* Comments: Amazingly written fic with lovely prose, this piece goes beyond a shipping fic by making mention of what other characters are doing and exploring how the rest of the world is adjusting to the loss of magic--particularly Terra. Many minor and major characters pop in at least once and I particularly love seventhe's Remy. Shadow/Terra almost seems inevitable, with the way she writes it. Highly recommended.

Hurting Hero is a disambiguation

* Comments: Oh my god. This is, without a doubt, among some of the BEST well-written fics I've ever read. I'm talking good grammar, paragraph structure, creative and evocative description of details and setting, character exploration, and all the sad, heart wrenching little moments depicting various, pure and unadultured, sadness tropes [[spoiler:(mostly AngstWhatAngst, Heroine Harasses Helpers, BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor, and sand in their eyes Hurting Heroine, among others I haven't the time to look up and list)]] you could ever want to read about. It's just plain good. Literary good in fact. Very well put together story (with perhaps a little fancy free fantastication involved to be able to suspend your disbelief from time to time). Highly, highly recommended. As in, go read it. Now.

Do warn when a fanfic may head into sexual or non-canon territory. Some people just don't like it, and as we all know, Shipping is SeriousBusiness. Also remember if submitting a ROM Hack to link to an IPS or BPS file.
