* AbusiveParents: Lincoln's parents refuse to listen to his claims that Martin was responsible for his book being thrown out, punching Leni was an accident caused by a nightmare, and him fighting Chandler and Martin was justified. Instead, they decide to ground him for a week, then two weeks, and then three. And after grounding Lincoln for three weeks, his father Lynn Sr. even ''carries Lincoln to his room in response to him crying''. {{Exaggerated}} in the second alternate ending, where Lynn Sr. grounds Lincoln for an infinite amount of time and tells him to GetOut.

'''''[[https://theloudhousefanon.fandom.com/wiki/The_Boy_Who_Cried_Idiot The Boy Who Cried Idiot]]''''' is a fanfiction for ''WesternAnimation/TheLoudHouse'' that is somewhat infamous in the fandom for its mean-spiritedness, though not to the extent of ''Fanfic/LincolnIsDone''.

Its plot involves a new student in Lincoln's class named Martin, who wants very much to be Lincoln's friend, but Lincoln just finds him annoying, mostly because Martin keeps getting Lincoln in trouble. As the title suggests, Martin doesn't get Lincoln into trouble on purpose, but rather through his own idiocy (such as when Martin throws a notebook out the window and genuinely forgets and believes Papa Wheelie when he tells him Lincoln did it.)

The story has three alternate endings.

!! ''The Boy Who Cried Idiot'' provides examples of
-----
* AccidentalMisnaming: Martin once calls Lincoln, "Abraham Lincoln".
* AdaptationalDumbass:
** Mrs. Johnson believes that Lincoln damaged his textbook and not the raccoon, even though what the raccoon did was ''bite'' the book.
** In Lincoln's nightmare, he mistakes Martin (a redhead) for Clyde (a black boy) from a distance. Then again, it was a dream.
** When Leni tells Lynn Sr. that "Linky" punched her, he initially doesn't realise she's talking about Lincoln.
* AdaptationalJerkass:
** Mollie, who in the show was just a bit character without much personality, claims most of her male classmates are ugly and says, "Make me, Zach!" when he tells her to shut up.
** When Martin first shows himself, everyone in the class starts judging him for being ugly, even the usually-kind Lincoln and Clyde.
** While Lincoln was in-character getting frustrated with Martin for throwing away his textbook, and with the bullies for embarrassing him, he escalates to violence and death threats a lot sooner than the canon Lincoln would. He also calls Martin ugly, which he probably wouldn't do in canon, even to a bully. Exaggerated in the third alternate ending, whereupon he strangles Lynn Sr. (though not fatally) just for wrongly grounding him, knocks out Rita, and beats up everyone else who wrongly blamed him.
** Mrs. Johnson blames Lincoln for getting beaten up ''by'' Martin and simply says, "I don't want to hear it" when he calls her out on this, whereas in canon, she's a pretty reasonable teacher.
** When Lincoln tries to defend himself to Rita, she snarks at him, whereas in the show she hardly ever snarks at anyone and certainly not Lincoln. At least she apologises later.
** Lynn Sr. is also uncharacteristically snide, pulling out the old, "Oh, I don't know" line. Later, he calls Lincoln a baby just for defending himself and shoos away the four main pets for no reason. He does lift Lincoln's grounding and apologise for wrongly grounding him, but he doesn't apologise for snarking at him or calling him a baby.
** While Leni is mostly in-character, she does apparently keep coming into Lincoln's room to watch him sleep.
** Even Charles the dog, Cliff the cat, Geo the hamster, and Walt the canary got hit with the "mean" stick, since they find it cute when Lincoln cries.
** Zigzagged for Lincoln's sisters. When they hear that Martin isn't Lincoln's friend but rather a stalker, not one of them believes him, and they throw him out of the house. However, when they hear Lincoln's angry speech, they believe him and call out Martin for causing them to kick him out. But then, when it's revealed that Martin is taking their things because of something Lincoln said in his sleep, they blame Lincoln and beat him up even though talking in one's sleep is not anyone's fault.
* AdaptationalPersonalityChange: In the show, Mrs. Johnson is relatively chill. ''This'' Mrs. Johnson yells in all-caps at the top of a hat and views any sort of disagreeing with her as "arguing".
* AdaptationalVillainy: While Chandler, Papa Wheelie, and Flat Tire are mean kids on the show, in this story they're homophobic, teasing Martin for being "gay for [Lincoln]".
* {{Ahem}}: Huggins clears his throat loudly when Lincoln is about to curse.
* ArtisticLicenseMedicine: Lincoln gets scars instantly after the raccoon scratches him. In real life, scars take a while to form.
* BittersweetEnding:
** The original ending involves Martin realising the error of his ways and Lincoln being ungrounded, but Lincoln's sisters beating him up.
** The third alternate ending involves Lincoln and Martin having made up, but Lincoln beating everyone else up.
* BuffySpeak: Martin uses the word "thingy" on a semi-regular basis.
* ButtMonkey: Lincoln is an even bigger butt-monkey than in canon-- he gets wrongly accused and punished for things Martin did, gets his textbook bitten by a raccoon, gets attacked by said raccoon, etc.
* CassandraTruth:
** When Lincoln tells Mrs. Johnson about how Martin was the one who threw his textbook out the window and a raccoon was the one who bit it, she doesn't believe him. Then, when he tells the same thing to Principal Huggins, he doesn't believe him either, and neither do his parents.
** When Lincoln tells Lynn Sr. about Leni's habit of watching him sleep, he again thinks he's lying.
** When Lincoln tells his sisters that Martin isn't his friend, they don't believe him either.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Some of the things Martin says or does can't simply be explained away by his stupidity, because they seem nuts. For instance, he takes Lincoln away from Clyde because Clyde called himself a guinea pig and "guinea pigs eat mice". Not only is this not true, but it would also imply Lincoln is a mouse.
* ContinuityNod: Lincoln remembers "that stupid sister protocol" from "Brawl in the Family" and the time his sisters kicked him out for being bad luck in "No Such Luck".
* CountingToPotato: In her sleep, Lisa says, "Two plus two equals fish. Three plus three equals donkey. Four plus four equals elephant."
* CurseCutShort: Lincoln calls the bullies "green-shirted, stupid, ugly sons of---" but then is cut off by Principal Huggins.
* DisproportionateRetribution: In the third alternate ending, Lincoln (non-fatally) strangles Lynn Sr., knocks out Rita, and beats up everyone else just for falsely blaming him for things.
* TheDitz: Martin is the eponymous idiot, doing things like assuming Lincoln is so-named because he's related to presidents, getting people's gender wrong, and forgetting things moments after doing them.
* DownerEnding: The second alternate ending is just Lynn Sr. grounding Lincoln for infinity.
* DudeLooksLikeALady: Played with. They don't look female, but due to his low intelligence, Martin mistakes Principal Huggins and Chandler for women.
* EasilyForgiven: In the third alternate ending, Lincoln makes up with Martin enough to ''hug'' him despite him having caused all the trouble and also despite the fact that he beat up everyone else who wronged him.
* EatDirtCheap: Discussed when Clyde mentions "that funny video where this little girl is attempting to eat rocks".
* EmbarrassingAnimalCostume: At one point, the bullies trick Martin into embarrassing Lincoln by forcing him into a horse suit and riding him. The original ending involves Martin forcing Chandler (one of said bullies) into wearing the suit, unwittingly giving him karma.
* EverythingIsAnInstrument: Martin describes Lincoln's sleep-breathing as "music".
* ExtremeOmnivore: Downplayed and discussed when Clyde mentions a video in which a little girl ''attempts'' to eat rocks.
* FirstNameBasis: Mrs. Johnson is listed as "Agnes".
* ForgetfulJones: Martin forgets having thrown out Lincoln's textbook seconds after doing it.
* GoryDiscretionShot: The raccoon is described as attacking Lincoln "off-screen".
* GoToYourRoom:
** When Lincoln is complaining about his unfair grounding lasting a full week, Rita tells him to go to his room and stay there for the rest of the day except to eat dinner and use the bathroom.
** Exaggerated when Lynn Sr. punishes Lincoln for fighting with Chandler and Martin by sending him to his room to do nothing for an entire ''weekend''.
* GroundedForever: The second alternate ending involves Lynn Sr. grounding Lincoln forever.
* HeavySleeper:
** Lincoln sleeps right through Martin yelling outside his window.
** While Lily is woken up by Lincoln and Martin talking, Lisa (Lily's roommate) isn't. Then, Lisa doesn't wake up when Lily shakes her.
* HopeSpot: In Lincoln's nightmare, his parents and sisters show up in a flying house and tell him to grab the rope and escape the Martins, but he can't.
* {{Hypocrite}}:
** Mrs. Johnson yells at Lincoln, but when Lincoln yells back, she labels it as "acting like that" and sends him to the principal's office.
** Lynn Sr. calls Lana rude for interrupting him, even though he himself was snarking at Lincoln moments before.
** Principal Huggins calls Lincoln oueats the headt for interrupting Martin, then later interrupts Lincoln.
* IAteWhat: Martin accidentally eats part of Bun-Bun the stuffed rabbit, mistaking it for food.
* ImAHumanitarian: In Lincoln's nightmare, a giant Martin swallows him.
* ItsQuietTooQuiet: Lincoln's nightmare begins with silence.
* KarmaHoudini: Zigzagged:
** In the original ending, Martin and the parents realise they were wrong and apologise to Lincoln, while Chandler gets punished for his misdeeds, yet they other kids who were mean to Lincoln never get punished, Mrs. Johnson and Principal Huggins never realise they're wrong, and the sisters are never punished for beating up Lincoln.
** The first alternate ending averts it: the parents still apologise to Lincoln and unground him, and Martin never takes the sisters' things meaning they don't beat him up, so it ends with them having apologised for kicking him out of the house. Also, all the students who laughed at Lincoln apologise and Martin admits that he was the book thrower, leading to all of them being suspended, and Mrs. Johnson apologises for wrongly blaming Lincoln.
** In the second alternate ending, which is just Lynn Sr. grounding Lincoln forever, ''no one'' learns their lesson.
** In the third alternate ending, Lincoln beats up everyone who falsely blames him, meaning they've all paid for their crimes... only, he gets away with all the violence.
* KidsAreCruel: When Martin holds up Lincoln's history book so Lincoln can't read it and later throws it out the window making Lincoln mad, all of their classmates except for Lincoln's closest friends start laughing and chanting, "Fight! Fight!". The narration even notes that it's apparently a common occurrence at schools. Later, at lunch, all the students in the entire school except for Lincoln's friends laugh at him when he's made to wear a horse costume.
* LadyLooksLikeADude: While they don't really look like boys, Martin, due to his low intelligence, mistakes the Loud sisters for boys.
* MistakenAge:
** Martin mistakes Chandler, a preteen boy, for a grown ''woman''.
** Implied when Martin mistakes all the Loud sisters for Lincoln's kids; he must have thought that Lincoln's older sisters were younger than him.
* MistakenForAliens: When Lincoln screams, Martin thinks he's an alien.
* MistakenIdentity: In Lincoln's nightmare, he mistakes Martin for Clyde.
* NarratingTheObvious: While on his way home from school, Lincoln narrates to the audience everything they just saw.
* NasalTrauma: Martin bites Clyde on the nose hard enough to make him cry.
* NightmareSequence: At one point, Lincoln has a nightmare about being chased by clones of Martin.
* NoIndoorVoice: A lot of Mrs. Johnson's dialogue is WRITTEN IN ALL CAPS.
* NonSequitur:
** Clyde calls himself a guinea pig for no apparent reason when he's telling off Martin for calling him, Rusty, Zach, and Liam ugly. Then, Martin takes Lincoln away from Clyde and says it's because "guinea pigs eat mice", even though A.) they don't, and B.) Lincoln is not a mouse.
** Lincoln tells Chandler that "My name is Lincoln, not Larry", even though Chandler hadn't called him Larry.
** Martin randomly calls Lincoln a cucumber once.
* NoodleIncident: Apparently, Leni has gotten bad ideas from [=DeviantArt=] at least once before, since Lynn tells her to stop going there for ideas.
* OriginalCharacter: Martin was made up by the author.
* OutOfCharacter: In addition to many characters behaving meaner than in canon, Rusty calls himself ugly, whereas in canon, he thinks he's handsome.
* PlotHole:
** Chandler refers to Martin as "the idiot" before he does anything stupid.
** Everyone laughs at ''Lincoln'' for being "the book thrower", even though they saw that it was actually Martin, so logically, they should have laughed at him instead.
** Lana tells Lynn Sr. that Lincoln is innocent when he's grounding him, even though she wasn't there when Martin threw the textbook or when the raccoons attacked Lincoln, so she had no way of knowing he was.
** When Lincoln says in his sleep, "Take the boys' stuff with me", Martin, mistaking the Loud sisters for boys, takes ''their'' stuff. However, despite being prone to mistaking people's genders, Martin knows Lincoln is a boy, so logically he should have taken his stuff as well.
** At the end of the story (the original ending), Martin says that he learned his lesson about lying, and includes claiming Lincoln was sleep-talking as one of his "lies". However, Martin didn't actually lie; he was truly stupid enough to believe the lies of Papa Wheelie and Chandler, and Lincoln really was sleep-talking.
** Martin calls Clyde a hypocrite for calling his referring to Lincoln's breathing as music creepy, considering his "obsession with Lori". However, Martin doesn't know Clyde very well, and considering he thinks Lori is a boy, he probably doesn't know her name.
* PunctuatedForEmphasis: When Martin sees Lisa and Lily and thinks they're Lincoln's children, he yells, "YOU... GOT... KIDS?!".
* ScriptFic: The fanfiction is written out like a script.
* SelfDeprecation: When Martin shows up, Rusty comments that he's uglier than him.
* ShoutOut:
** The title is based of ''Literature/TheBoyWhoCriedWolf'', however, unlike in the fable, Lincoln wasn't lying.
** Martin says that he was "having an [[Literature/TheOdyssey Odyssey]]" to find Lincoln.
** When Leni suggests that one of the sisters get rid of Martin by shoving him into her mouth, Lynn tells her to stop going to ''Website/DeviantArt'' for ideas.
* SpeakInUnison:
** In Lincoln's nightmare, Martin and his copies say, "Hey, friend" in unison.
** When Martin calls Lincoln's friends ugly, they say, "UGLY?!" in unison.
* StaircaseTumble: Martin climbs onto Lincoln's back, causing them both to fall downstairs.
* StealthHiBye: Martin leaves the lunch table without Liam noticing.
* SternTeacher: Mrs. Johnson in this story is a huge cross-patch and yells at students.
* StupidSexyFlanders: Downplayed. Martin agrees that he's gay "for Lincoln" and describes Lincoln as beautiful a lot, however most of the time, he doesn't do romantic things with Lincoln but instead tries to be his friend.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Lincoln gives Martin a long, angry telling-off after the boys get kicked out.
-->'''Lincoln''': "NO! DON'T TELL ME TO CALM DOWN! EVERYTHING'S [sic] THAT HAPPENED TO ME IS LITERALLY YOUR FAULT! An idiot... who gets me in trouble..."
* RedEyesTakeWarning: A pair of red eyes are the last thing Lincoln sees in his nightmare.
* TemptingFate:
** When Lincoln is wrongly blamed for throwing out his textbook, he says that it at least can't get worse, only for a raccoon to bite the textbook.
** While on his way home from school, he says it again, only for his parents to be mad at him when he gets home.
* TrademarkFavouriteFood: For some reason, this story's version of Lynn Sr. loves peanut butter so much that he buys nine jars of it and wants to buy even more.
* UnusualEuphemism: Liam refers to Martin biting Clyde on the nose as a "sharp kiss".
* WakingNonSequitur: Justified. Lincoln wakes up saying, "GET AWAY FROM ME, YOU--" because he dreamt there was a pair of red eyes in a black hole. Unfortunately, Leni cries as she thinks he's talking to her.
* YouAreGrounded: Lincoln's parents ground him for biting his textbook and blaming Martin for throwing it, not realising that it was a raccoon who bit the textbook and that Lincoln was telling the truth when he blamed Martin. Later, he extends the grounding to two weeks after Lincoln (accidentally) hits Leni and then to three weeks after Lincoln gets into a fight with Martin and Chandler.
