To put it plainly, it's the monster equivalent of a human kid doing some death-defying stunt like jumping into a shark tank. However, there are some differences between this and the movie, such as young Laura Sharp's father is working on the Scare Floor, Laura uses distraction tactics on the Scare Floor Crew to get to the child's door, "Frightening" Frank [=McCay=] appears again in this Fanfiction by giving Laura the same experience as little Mike, and a slightly more animated consequence when Laura and Frank returned back to the Monster World after the latter has scared the human child.
** The current mess with the Perry twins. Both Don and Sherry are shown to be as worried about Terry and Terri as biological parents would be. [[spoiler: And although they understand that it was for their own good, neither of them were particularly happy with the fact that the twins are now in separate bodies and terribly distraught about it]].

* ADayInTheLimelight: And interesting case; each chapter doesn't actually focus on ''one'' particular character but several at once. Listing each character for each individual chapter would be rathe time consuming, especially given the long length of each chapter.

* DontYouDarePityMe: In Chapters 4 and 5, Terry Perry snaps at his younger brother for insisting that he has found a significant other but doesn't acknowledge it. [[Spoiler: And chapter 7 confirms that Terry has been nursing a broken heart ever since high school due to a girl who belonged to a clique that resembled PNK pulling a Carrie-style prank on him specifically. This also resembled [=ROR=]'s prank on OK in the movie. The University's participation (specifically PNK, and even more specific Naomi's) re-opened that old scar]].

** [[spoiler:Terry received a particularly bad one by a female monster named Merida Malicestorm that controlled a classic high school bully clique. The clique resembled PNK (albeit they were A LOT meaner) and pulled a prank on Terry specifically in a Carrie-like fashion that traumatized him and clearly shattered his perception on romance. This prank also resembled ROR's prank during the movie, which implies that ROR's prank angered him so bad that it re-opened the wound]].

** Roar Omega Roar is this Randy, who becomes so disillusioned with how the RORs aren't the "cool kids" he made them out to be due to them pressuring them into taking part in the prank to humiliate OK and looking scornfully on his baking skills and glasses that he bitterly tells them he no longer wants to be with them when they offer him back his position in their fraternity.

** Terry Perry has some pretty major development throughout the story. The first few chapters portrayed him as the mature and responsible member he was, just like in the movie. As time goes on, he begins to express a much more hostile side of him, snapping at several monsters such as Noami Jackson, Johnny Worthington, and even his own brother. This is actually due to the fact that [[spoiler:he and Terri were bullied constantly during high school, and all of it pained Terry rather deeply. (The reason he snapped at Terri, however, was due to him trying to convince Terry that Noami wasn't as bad as he says she is, which didn't really end well... for the both of them)]].

* CluelessChickMagnet: Terry Perry of the twin Perry Brothers falls into this. He has quite a number of Monster Girls interested in him, but Terry is understandably bitter after the prank pulled by ROR in the film that he doesn't reciprocate any advances by other Monster Girls on him. [[spoiler:This tropeis averted as of chapter 7; he's not clueless but does not want to risk a broken heart again either]].

* CrashingDreams: In Chapter four, Squishy was dreaming a romantic dream about [[spoiler:Laura]] when he was awakened by the alarm clock at the worst possible time (which was the same predicament as Mike and Sulley in the film), and to his surprise[=/=]horror, he found out that he was nearly kissing Randall's tail (which he was using as his "pillow"). Randall was pushed off his top bed as a result, although the author did not state what did Randall dreamed about.

** In Chapter 5, we get a variant of this when Art got two cupcakes from Randall, [[spoiler: which are a "B" and an "S", and he was about to mention the curse word when he was cut off mid-sentence by someone else.]]
* [[{{Cyclops}} Cyclops Monster]]: Mike Wazowski, Terri and Terry Perry fit the criteria. As do Percy Bolesaw of JOX, Chet Alexander of the ROR, Nancy Kim and Rhonda Boyd of HSS, Debbie Gabler and Violet Steslicki of EEK.

* DisappointedInYou: Terri is very disappointed in his brother Terry in some aspects of the latter's personality, especially on how he treats the ladies. Terry, on the other hand, would push it away, knowing their views are completely different and considers himself more "careful" than his little brother.

So much that even his younger brother Terri, who is clearly enjoying all the romantic attention he has been getting, had been unable to convince his brother to give love another chance.
** According to later chapters, Terry has been warming up to specific girls, just not those from the PNK Sorority.

* DontYouDarePityMe: In Chapters 4 and 5, Terry Perry snaps at his younger brother for insisting that he has found a significant other but doesn't acknowledge it, and it has been hinted that he's still nursing a [[LoveHurts broken heart]] inside, even until now.

** Squishy's mom, Sherry Squibbles as usual. [[spoiler:Now Sherry Carlton, as she has been married to Don Carlton in chapter one]]. ** Coming in contact with the [[spoiler:new and improved ''EXPLOSIVE'' poison urchins]] for the scare games in chapter four causes the affected spot to swell up massively. Some of the monsters in the first '''''RENEWED''''' Scare Game emerge looking like balloons.

** The author has an adoration for the Perry twins, so they have a bit more focus in the story.

** Laura's ability to utilize her surroundings, shadows and distraction tactics to sneak through [[spoiler:''the entire Scare Floor'' to get to her (supposedly) father's designated child's door]] in the prologue. She has sure put her father's teachings to good use.

* BadNewsInAGoodWay:
** In chapter 6, [[spoiler:the Perry twins were revealed to be in stable condition but severely injured by the blast in the Science Labs]].
** [[spoiler:chapter 10 reveals another scenario of this that OK is likely going to be getting the full brunt of in the next chapter. For the twins to survive the science building accident the doctors were forced to separate them completely otherwise they would of both died.]]
* BandOfBrothers: The Oozma Kappa Fraternity is the king of this Trope. JOX Fraternity also fits this Trope very well too.

* TheBet: Chet and Brynn has one in Chapter 5, when they both bet on Javier and [[spoiler:Mrs. Carlton respectively. Brynn won the bet because Mrs. Carlton defeated Javier in the Ping Pong match]].

* [[BigBrotherMentor Big Sister Mentor]]: Nadya Petrov acts as this to Naomi Jackson in their OddFriendship, despite being from different sororities, constantly giving her encouragement and comments (as well as a listening ear) to help Naomi gather up her courage to win back Terry Perry's heart.

* BlatantLies: A few of these exists in the Fan Fiction.

* BlindWithoutEm: Downplayed with Randall Boggs, as he can still see without his glasses, but he needs to squint in order to see clearly.

** M.U.'s rival school, Fear Tech, has a mascot named "Archie the Scare Pig", who is [[AmazingTechnicolorWildlife bright orange]]. Interestingly, he seems to be mix of both pig and ''goat''- he has a pig's snout, tail and squeal, but his horns, shaggy coat and rectangular pupils are all rather goat-like. [[AllAnimalsAreDogs He can also bark]], though it's explicitly stated that it's a trick Laura taught him.

* CallForward: Being an interquel between the two movies, there are quite a lot of these moments.

** In Chapter 5, Mike's training program for Oozma Kappa is similar to the training he had done with Sulley in the first film, especially the "Scary Feet" moment.
** When Randall [[spoiler:accidentally vanishes into thin air leaving his OK fraternity sweater when Sulley bumped into a display cabinet in the OK fraternity house, it brings to mind his first meeting with Mike and his vanishing skill in the first film]].

* ArentYouForgettingSomeone: Claire Wheeler mentioned this to [[spoiler: Laura Sharp when they saw Colette (who has fallen off Laura due to her being distracted by George Sanderson) being left behind in the explosive toxic urchins obstacle course.]]

* BigBrotherInstinct: [[ZigzaggedTrope Zigzagged]] with Terry Perry. He's almost insanely protective of his frat brothers but tells his own twin essentially [[IWishedYouWereDead I Wish You Were Dead]] over a spat about Terry's treatment of Naomi Jackson.

* BigEater: Laura Sharp is shown to be one, as seen in chapter 2. One student even commented that she probably can eat more than Big Red.

** For example, the EEK Sorority sacrificed their holidays and quality time with their families for their training. They may be able to predict each other's maneuvers, but they have alienated their families due to their training.

** Terry Perry does this in chapter 6 by giving [[spoiler:Johnny Worthington a truly epic TheReasonYouSuckSpeech in front of the whole University]].

** [[spoiler:The entire Greek Community (exempting ROR), the Council, and the Dean were all revealed to of successfully done this for OK after Sully and Mike were welcomed back to the University]].

* TheNapoleon: Along with being the shortest member of the EEK sorority, Debbie Gabler is also shown to have the shortest temper among her sisters.

* HairDecorations: Colette has a lot of these.
** Some Monsters also have hair bands on their fins and hair.

* ExactWords: [[spoiler:Merida Malicestorm told Terry that everyone in school would be talking about the happenings at her second Sweet 16 for a ''long'' time. She was right; [[NeverLiveItDown no one would let him live down]] the prank she pulled on him and ultimately it got so bad that the Perry twins switched schools to get away from the mocking]].

** His brother (albeit understandably) doesn't really seem to let Terry [[NeverLiveItDown live it down]].

** At one point in the fic, there's [[spoiler: a lab explosion that causes the Perry twins to fall into a coma, and eventually having to be separated to survive. Made worse by the fact that Terry angrily told Terri that he [[BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor sometimes wishes that they were separated, literally right before the accident]].

* CerebusSyndrome: While still keeping in occasional humor and heartwarming scenes, the story gets a lot more serious and dramatic as it goes along, from [[spoiler:Laura suffering a few panic attacks here and there to the Perry twins falling into a coma after a lab accident]]. And that's honestly just scratching the surface.

* DarkerAndEdgier: While the story keeps the lighthearted tone from the original movie, things end up getting a lot more darker and serious as the story goes on.
** At one point in the story, there's [[spoiler: a lab explosion that caused the Perry twins to fall into a coma and eventually had to be separated to survive]]. Made worse by the fact that Terry angrily told Terri that he [[spoiler:[[BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor sometimes wishes that they were separated]], literally right before the accident]].
** Naomi Jackson's mental condition gets worse and worse as the story goes along. First, she was completely nervous and afraid of the outcome that might occur when she tried to talk to Terry. Next, she ends up getting a pretty '''massive''' TheReasonYouSuckSpeech from Terry in the library, which made her deeply upset but was still persistent in trying to win him over. [[spoiler:Then comes the lab accident, which practically SHATTERS her heart]]. Finally, [[spoiler:when Noami is planted with a nightmare by Pyapi featuring the twins, her condition gets to the point were she might even be ''suicidal''.]] [[TheWoobie Boy, does this chick need a break...]]
** The nightmares in chapter 10 featured perhaps some of the darkest scenes in the entire story. Each of the fraternities and sororities are [[spoiler:planted with nightmares by Pyapi as punishment for how they all treated OK in the previous semester]] and they all featured [[spoiler:the Perry twins dying in the hospital and their ghosts coming back to haunt the dreamer]]. Let's just say that the results were... [[ManlyTears not]] [[BreakTheCutie pretty]].
** To a lesser extent, [[spoiler:Laura tends to suffer panic attacks several times throughout the story]].
* DeanBitterman: Dean Hardscrabble still shows shades of this being the undisputed stern Dean of Scaring, but she clearly has learned her lesson from the events of the movie. Now she's shown to be more of a ReasonableAuthorityFigure as of this Fan Fiction.

* FanSequel: Well, more like Fan Interquel, seeing story takes place not too long after ''University'' while also introducing us to a number of factors that would be present in ''Inc'' such as [[spoiler: Celia Mae becoming Mike's girlfriend and Roz being shown as the head of the CDA]].

* FragileFlower: Laura, Randall and Squishy are a bit of this trope at times.

* GettingCrapPastTheRadar: We have one in Chapter 5, when Art grabbed two cupcakes, which are a "B" and an "S", which he put together and was about to say the word out loud when he was cut off.
** The various swearing used by the Monsters in this Fan Fiction. Examples include, "Holy Goo!" or "Great Glop of Goo!"
** In chapter 7, when Katy and Claire are chosen to play the part of the princess and prince for their Drama class, Katy begins to panic when she discovers that there's going to be kissing scene, and quickly tells the teacher that she's "not ''that'' type of girl".
** In chapter 9, Johnny tricks Laura into bending over by asking her to grab a book for him, which was located on the bottom shelf, in order to get a [[MaleGaze "nice view"]].
** In chapter 8, while Johnny was talking to Laura in the college stadium, a football ends up whacking Johnny in the head which causes him to fall on top of Laura and the both of them onto the field. When Don, Squishy, Katy, and Colette return from getting their drinks, they're [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything shocked by what they initially see is a case of sexual harassment]].

* IWillTearYourArmsOff/IllKillYou: [[spoiler:Terry Perry threatened to do this to Johnny Worthington when the latter bad-mouthed Mike and Sulley in front of the whole University. ''He even threatened to tear Johnny's horns off and jab those into his eyes'']]!

** Chapter 10 sees a series of monsters reacting violently to terrible nightmares before switching to the mix of TearJerker and CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming that is [[spoiler:the twins' awakening and then finally showing us how giddy Mrs. Carlton is that the twins are okay and will be coming home soon]].

** Laura Sharp suffers from very clear anxiety and fear of failure, frequently has panic attacks, and deliberately shuts herself out from the rest of society for reasons she's reluctant to explain.

** Katy is implied to be depressed, if the vague hints about her past and the anxiety she has with wanting to express her love of rap music is any indication.

* DarkerAndEdgier: While the story keeps the lighthearted tone from the original movie, especially in the first few chapters, things end up getting a lot more dark and overall serious as the story goes on:
** Terry Perry shows a completely new side of him in the story. While still maintaining his kind and mature personality, he grows a bit more hostile (and somewhat selfless) as the story goes on (such has expressing ''extreme'' hatred towards the PNK sorority, seeing them as nothing but a bunch of self-absorbed [[AlphaBitch alpha bitches]], and giving Johnny Worthington one '''HECK''' of a TheReasonYouSuckSpeech after he insults Mike and Sulley). It's revealed that the reason for his behavior is because [[spoiler:of the fact that he and Terri were bullied quite a lot during high school. In particular, Terry had a crush on an AlphaBitch named Merida Malicestorm, with a posse that highly resembled the PNK sorority and pulled a prank on him that ended up breaking his heart rather deeply]].
*** Doubles as HarsherInHindsight, considering [[spoiler:how similar the prank was to the one ROR pulled on Oozma Kappa in the movie]]. Along with the fact that Monsters University was Terri and Terry's dream college, and that they weren't really treated any better there ether (until they met Mike and Sulley).
*** This ultimately came back to bite Terry when an argument between him and Terri regarding Naomi Jackson (who has a crush on Terry) resulted in [[spoiler: a lab explosion that caused the two to fall into a coma and eventually had to be separated to survive.]] Even worse, Terry angrily told Terri that he [[spoiler:[[BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor sometimes wishes that they were separated]], literally right before the accident.]]
