* ParentalFavoritism: Charles favors Lelouch greatly over all his other children, including Schneizel, and it becomes obvious that Lelouch is his overally chosen heir apparent. This is not really much of a secret (at least, not to the royal court), which is why out of all the siblings vying to become emperor, ''Lelouch'', and not Schneizel, is regarded as the greatest threat. Lelouch himself seems to be perfectly aware of it (even though he'd much rather disown his father would it not be a detriment to his ambitions), and knows that everyone knows his greatest weak point is Nunnally -- so he makes it clear what would happen if they tried ''anything'' with her, using Carine as an example.

While in canon, Clovis isn't what you's call ''competent'', here his administration goes beyond incompetency and right into corruption. So much so that he spends time donating blood and talking with his men and women like he was one of them. Another good example of this is shown in Chapter 26, when he is talking to his men and chatting with them casually, in comparison to Zero’s dialogue with her subordinates at the same time being more professional and aloof.
* AlternateContinuity: Pretty much the ripple effects that stem from Lelouch telling the Emperor to go and shove it have resulted in a world in which Knightmare Frame development has lagged, Kallen’s family is dead, and Britannia is still being plagued by Zero.

!!'''This fic contains examples of the following tropes, in addition to those already present in the source material:'''

* TheAce: Suzaku and Kallen. Albeit, Kallen is recognized as Zero in that she is considered Knight of the Round level in her capabilities by both Lelouch and Gino, and as of Chapter 26, Suzaku, although no one realizes that it was C.C. piloting at the time.

* BigDamnHeroes: Though you can make a concerted effort by arguing that it’s more zig-zagged as a trope than anything, Lelouch’s Army Group vi Britannia’s actions in rescuing Britannian forces trapped at Mogadishu.

* BoringButPractical: The Noppera-bō seem to adhere to this standard. Anti-material rifles, IED, artillery pieces, mobile surface-to-air missile platforms, even using Chaos Mines as actual mines. All of these systems have been proven to be effective and have taken Britannians by surprise.

* DramaticIrony: As the story advances, and Lelouch and Kallen get closer. It becomes more and more ironic for Lelouch, that the one person he is falling for is Britannia’s greatest enemy.

* TheDreaded: Zero is regarded as this by Britannia, due to the number of successful attacks that Zero has carried out on them. Likewise Lelouch when considered by any of his enemies.

* ElaborateUndergroundBase: The Noppera-Bo have a few of these to aid them in their attacks against Britannia. Mostly in the Tokyo area, where their main activities are.

* EveryoneCanSeeIt: Every named character that has been around Lelouch and Kallen knows the two have a thing going on between them.

* FallenHero: Caedron is a borderline example, in that while he still holds moral standards, he has become more and more ruthless in his actions against Britannia. Though this is understandable due to the fact that he is [[spoiler: Dying.]]

* {{Jerkass}}: Kewell is definitely this. Which shows greatly when his sister Marika comes to see him in Chapter 14. Where he speaks rudely to her, accuses her falsely of being a slut, and threatens to cut her off just for refusing to break her loyalty to Lelouch. Which leads her to disown him and her whole family.

* JerkassFacade: Kallen in regards to her interactions with Lelouch in the earlier chapters, this becomes Subverted in the later chapters between the two. Though she still has her moments of this in regards to her interactions with other characters, especially with Cadron and C.C.

* MagicalEye: Kallen has one, as part of her geass that she got from C.C.

* TheMatchmaker: As always Milly Ashford has made it her goal as Student President to be the forebear of planting seeds of love between students under her thumb.

* MysteriousPast: Caedron’s past is the best example, with it involving at some point him [[spoiler: Being an assassin for Charles, and some connection to the Stadfeld Family.]]

* MeaningfulName: Caedron’s name is one, with it being a reference to the welsh name Caderyn. Which in welsh means battle ruler.

* MustHaveCaffeine: Minor example with Lelouch as chapter 27 shows, he is addicted to coffee.

* MyGreatestFailure: Caedron has a few events in his past that he regards as this. With the main one involving Kallens family.

* MythologyGag: Chapter 27 has one, when Lelouch thinks of what he would dress like as Zero.

* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: What a few Britannians have in regards to when Zero shows up in battle. Also Lelouch’s nickname The Demon Prince has been known to invoke this in his enemies as well.

* OCStandIn: Marika Soresi and her friend Liliana Vergamon in being part of the knights of Idris, along with the First Princess of Britannia Guinevere Su Britannia being the most prominent examples.

* OfficialCouple: As explained in the Foregone Conclusion entry. This is what Kallen and Lelouch eventually become in the story. When this happens is one of the driving questions of the Fic.

* OriginalCharacter: Caedron Kallen’s godfather and main advisor for her activities as Zero, his niece Ariadne is another example.

* ParentalFavoritism: Charles favors Lelouch greatly over all his other children, including Schneizel. He sees Lelouch overall as the heir apparent.

* ParentalIssues: Kallen has a bit of this with Caedron at times when the two get into arguments about his actions against Britannia he undertakes without her knowing. Lelouch has this as well in his mind in regards to his father poking his nose in his personal affairs at times.

* ParentalSubstitute: Caedron overall is this for Kallen, though the two’s relationships have their ups and downs in the story. Especially, when it comes to how best it is to go about fighting Britannia.

* PutOnABus: Cornelia when she is called back to Britannia in chapter 27 as told to Suzaku by Euphemia.

* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Lelouch and Euphemia both count as examples, they are both nice and treat all those under them as equals, they want to help reform Area 11. Both also in the long term have the main goal of reforming Britannia into something better.

* TheRival: Lelouch and Zero are this for each other, with Suzaku being a minor example in battle for Zero as well.

* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: Lelouch and Euphemia are the most blatant examples. Schneizel and Cornelia as usual are examples as well. Clovis is a bad example in that while he does do something in ruling an Area, he doesn’t do it well at all.

* SecretArt: After [[spoiler: C.C as Zero uses a Knightmare technique that only Marianne knew in chapter 27 against Suzaku]]. Lelouch and Jeremiah wonder how someone knows of it, Kallen as well when she asks C.C about it. Subverted in that [[spoiler: C.C tells Kallen that Marianne basically just used a simple sword technique and no one realised this.]] Also DeconstructedTrope in that by using it, she accidently gets Lelouch interested in her, which strengthens when he finds a picture of her and Marianne together in a bar. Which leads him to remembering hearing an argument between the two a few months before Marianne’s death.

* ScrewTheRulesIMakeThem: Lelouch and Euphemia take this stance once they become Viceroy and Sub-Viceroy of Area 11. Desiring that the rules that Clovis enforced for Area 11 are changed to benefit both Britannia and Japan for the better.

* ScrewTheRulesImDoingWhatsRight: Lelouch and Euphemia adhere to this at all times. They put this to full use once they arrive in Area 11 and start changing the rule that Clovis and Kewell have been running there for a while.

* ShadowArchetype: Lelouch and Zero are this for each other. Both want to see Britannia changed, both are passionate in their goals and aims. Where they differ is in while Lelouch is idealist in how he feels about Britannia and what he is trying to do. Zero on the other feels that Britannia needs to be torn asunder for a better country to arise.

* ShoutOut: Kallen in Chapter 27 imagined Lelouch dressed as Zero in a certain combination that seems totally familiar...

* ShipperOnDeck: Pretty much nearly all the characters that interact with either Lelouch and Kallen are this for the two of them being together.

* SpotOfTea: Hugely and hilariously Subverted. Lelouch is a coffee addict as chapter 27 shows clearly. See MustHaveCaffeine above.

* TheStrategist: A couple of examples, Lelouch as always is one. Kallen is a partial example, as while she can plan somewhat her plans and schemes out. It is Caedron overall who mainly serves in that capacity for her.

* SuddenlySexuality: Chapter 27, C.C becomes this in regards to Kallen, Kallen vice versa as well. Though it’s hinted as well in that C.C and Marianne were close in that way as well.

* {{Tsundere}}: As usual Kallen fits the trope. One second she is Dere to Lelouch, the next second she can be Tsun to him. This happens in her interactions at times with both Cadron and C.C as well.

* UndyingLoyalty: Many of Lelouch’s subordinates, men in his personnal unit. Along with the usual examples in Jeremiah and Sayoko have this when it comes to Lelouch.

* UnresolvedSexualTension: You guessed it. Lelouch and Kallen are blatant examples of this trope.

* WhatIf?: This fic is basically an exploration of what Code Geass would be like if Lelouch was still in Britannia and rose to be a general in it, and if Kallen was the one instead who became Zero thanks to tragedy involving her family.

* WideEyedIdealist: Kallen accuses Lelouch in her mind of being one of these in chapter 26, when he talks to her about how he feels about Britannia and what Zero does.

* WorthyOpponent: Lelouch regards Zero as this, due to mainly being the biggest challenge for him. In all the campaigns that he has undertaken for Britannia.

* YouAreNotAlone: Lelouch pretty much says this line to Kallen at around Chapter 26 in terms of how they have both lost and experienced pretty similar tragedies in their lives.

* YouKilledMyFather: Kallen has this when it comes to Britannia killing her Brother like in Canon. UpToEleven that they also killed her mother and father this time as well.
