* HonestJohnsDealership: Brock the Mystical claims he can restore Anna's memories. Anna, despite her past experiences with being too trusting of strangers, decides to take him for his word. He only succeeds in burning down the forest, and the fire rampages until Elsa is able to get over her pyrophobia long enough to extinguish the flames.

* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: [[spoiler:Brandr's fate. The changelings drag him back to the otherworld and feed him to Chernabog]].

* AdultsAreUseless: Anna lampshades how in so many books, the authorities are useless and it's always a group of teenagers who catch the bad guy.
