* AdaptationalIntelligence: Garble, of the SmarterThanYouLook variety. He instantly knows that [[spoiler:Adagio]] had something to do with Ember spontaneously attacking him during the Hollow's invasion of the Quincy's training area, and is now spending a good deal of his time finding out what.

** The Zero Division were already pretty shady in ''Manga/{{Bleach}}'' canon with their moral ambiguity being compounded in the light novels. Here, their shiftiness is cranked up with [[spoiler: them ensuring that innocent souls like Sunburst are sent to Hell causing Starlight Glimmer and Firefly's StartOfDarkness, as well as planning ''something'' that once Discord and Ditzy see from the secret records has them realizing why Starlight is going the route she is and would send Soul Society in open rebellion if made public.]]

** [[spoiler:Glory, the leader of the Zero Division, admits she did in fact underestimate Scorpan during their battle. Despite Scorpan being the Captain-Commander of Soul Society, Glory confesses she still saw him first as the youth she trained so long ago, hence why she was taken off-guard by the power of his Bankai and neglected unleashing her own true power at first while only using her considerable base power and the Soul Queen's Heart. After being all but ''punched into Soul Society's equivalent of outer space'' by Scorpan's best technique and getting multiple bones, limbs, and organs pulverized in the process, she finally concedes [[SoProudOfYou with some level of pride]] he deserves nothing less than her best and finally invokes her blade's true power. Scorpan himself notes this is her FatalFlaw, and what he suspects even if he falls to her will be how Sunset and her allies will be victorious.]]

* VillainForgotToLevelGrind: Played with, in that the Soul Reapers, Arrancar, and Quincy ''have'' been grinding anywhere from years and decades to ''centuries and millennia'' to get as strong as they are, but Sunset, the Humane Five, Human Twilight, and [[spoiler:Adagio]] are to put it bluntly ''freaks'' that have gained and honed their powers in just ''weeks'' to close the gap. In other words, the heroes are on an exponential curve thanks to their Equestrian magic acting as TheGift while the villains are on a linear one.
** [[spoiler:While the Zero Division members ''have'' gained a significant power boost due to the stolen pieces of the Soul Queen that they wield, they've been holed up in the Soul Queen's palace for centuries. As a result, Scorpan is able to do some serious damage to Glory in their fight, even if it kills him, due to how badly she underestimates him.]]

* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking:
** Sombra and Tirek are the Quincy King and Hollow King[=/=]Espada #1, and therefore the strongest of the Quincies and Hollows respectively. Chrysalis is Espada #2 and Tirek's NumberTwo, with the narration referring to her as essentially the Hollow Queen and the only other one in Tirek's army aside from himself who could possibly fight Sombra on equal ground [[spoiler:and her subordinate Thorax is apparently strong enough that he can masquerade as her in Hueco Mundo with none the wiser]].
** Captain-Commander Scorpan is the most powerful member of the Gotei 13. His spiritual power is so great it can destroy weaker Hollows on contact!
** All the members of the Zero Division are the founders of Soul Society and its highest authority short [[spoiler:in theory]] of the Soul Queen herself, and each one is ''at least'' in Scorpan's weight class, if not stronger.

* RagTagBunchOfMisfits: [[spoiler:Adagio]] is slowly making one. So far, it consists of Ember, Di Roy, and Gaw.
** Also, human Starlight's group. They're all very different, but they all have two things in common: They're all very powerful and they all have a bone to pick with Soul Society.

* HiddenDepths: Sugarcoat reveals that in addition to their physical abilities, most of the Shadowbolts were chosen to enter the Friendship Games for their technical skills (with Indigo Zap being the main exception due to her superb physical ability). Sugarcoat herself got top marks in robotics and physics, Sunny Flare knows a ''disturbing'' amount about chemistry, Sour Sweet was literally right behind Twilight in engineering classes, and Lemon Zest knows enough about coding and software to program her own video games. [[spoiler:This is part of the reason why Twilight takes them all on as part of her magic research team.]]

* {{Expy}}:
** Sunset is one of Ichigo, [[spoiler:complete with two Zanpakuto spirits representing different parts of her nature]].
** Human Twilight also shares several traits with Ichigo, [[spoiler:if he embraced his Quincy heritage, particularly with how Midnight Sparkle has become her equivalent of True Zangetsu (Ichigo's Inner Hollow), and later still the reveal she's a MergerOfSouls]].
** Clover is one of Rukia Kuchiki, though unlike her she's the 12th division lieutenant instead of the 13th.
** Starswirl is one of Mayuri, though aside from an obsession with research he has very little in common with him.
** Discord is one of Kisuke Urahara, albeit far more willing to cut the bullshit and be honest with Sunset and company than Urahara is with Ichigo.
** Ditzy Doo is one of Yoruichi Shihoin.
** Adagio seems like one of Kon, [[spoiler: but she isn't. Later, after becoming a Vasto Lorde and Arrancar, she's one to Shiba Kaien and Tia Harribel, as she possesses a similar weapon and powers of the former's Zanpakuto, ''Nejibana'', and has the general powers and affableness of the latter.]]
** Screwloose and Screwball are ones for Jinta and Ururu, respectively.
** Grogar is one of Szayelaporro Granz, straight down to his Espada number.
** Tirek is one to Baraggan Louisenbairn, though unlike Baraggan he ''is'' Espada Number 1 [[spoiler:and presumably not under Starlight Glimmer's watch. As it turns out, he isn't. Chrysalis, on the other hand...]]
** The Smooze is one of Aaroniero Arruruerie, even wearing a similar mask. It turns out that like him he is also an aberration of an Arrancar, and has a {{Kaiju}} EldritchAbomination form as his Resurreccion.
** Torch is one of Yammy Llargo, being the massive brute of the Espada. His Hollow Hole is even in the same spot and he can transform into a {{Kaiju}}. He also bears traits of Nnoitra, having the same rank, the strongest Hierro of the Espada, and his zanpakuto being the closest in semblance.
** The Lament are ones of Coyote Starrk. Unlike the rest of these examples, he looks almost exactly like his Bleach counterparts. He also draws several points from Ulquiorra, such as his Espada number, his green reiatsu, and his "alienness" compared to the other Espada.
** Sombra is one of Yhwach, though when you only have one king in My Little Pony, you can't expect much else.
** Sunset's demon form is a much nastier version of Zangetsu [[spoiler:or rather Ichigo's Quincy powers pretending to be Zangetsu. If anything, Sunset's demon form is a friendlier version of the true Zangetsu (Ichigo's Inner Hollow). Sunset's Daydream Shimmer form, on the other hand, is more or less a less mysterious version of Old Man Zangetsu (Ichigo's Quincy powers) in personality]].
** Pinkamena is basically the Pinkie from ''Fanfic/CupcakesSergeantSprinkles'' with a functional moral compass (in that she goes after the bad guys rather than just anyone), though instead of cutting ponies up and eating them, she just eats them.
** Hurricane is one of Kenpachi Zaraki, [[BloodKnight and it shows.]]
** [[spoiler: Sweet Cider]] is Toshiro Hitsugaya, but fighting-wise she's one of Kenpachi.
** [[spoiler:Starlight Glimmer]] is essentially the [[CompositeCharacter fusion]] of Sosuke Aizen and Kugo Ginjo due to her past relationship with Soul Society, her goals involving the Hogyoku, [[spoiler:and her being the first Substitute Soul Reaper]].
*** Starlight being the HerosEvilPredecessor mixed with her having all of Sunset's skills but better and more experienced, her chessmaster skills, and leading a small BadassCrew of eclectic individuals makes her seem more like Shinobu Sensui from ''Manga/YuYuHakusho''.
** Platinum is one to Byakuya Kuchiki, [[LadyOfWar and it shows]]. [[spoiler:Like Byakuya, she too had to choose ToBeLawfulOrGood when it came to the life of a loved one...but unlike him, she chose "Good" and betrayed Soul Society for it]].
** Poesy's Shikai is one of Kenpachi's Bankai. One has to wonder what that means her Bankai is like.
** Pipsqueak is essentially a powerless version of Jushiro Ukitake. [[spoiler:He's even given a lease on life by becoming a Vizard similar to how Ukitake only lived thanks to his union with the Mimihagi]].

* CreepyChild: [[spoiler: Cozy Glow]] full stop. Let's start with that she is in HELL. An actual Hell. Then there is the fact she might be the top dog on the pile of corpses in there, keeping the deepest part of it in relative order with her own gang called Legion, speaks about how horrible humans are and all the atrocities of the place with a huge smile on her half-burned face and [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking casually flips people off.]]

* FogOfDoom: Daring Doo's power allows her to create a dense mist, in which she can hide. The fog is harmless on its own, but Daring can dissolve her body in it, {{Intangibility making herself impervious to attacks.}}

** When a sinner gets sentenced to Hell, they become part of it. And if their hatred is strong enough they can manifest powers through that connection. Like [[spoiler: Sunburst]] and [[PlayingWithFire his flames]] or [[spolier: Cozy]] and her [[ChainPain control over Hell Chains.]]

** [[spoiler:Human Cozy Glow's power as a Sinner is to use the very chains of Hell binding her to the realm as weapons.]]

** [[spoiler:The Dazzlings are all Inheritors of a singular Equestrian goddess, who split her essence between them somehow while using a single Relic to contain their power instead of the other way around like all the other known ones did.]]

* PentUpPowerPeril: The danger in training Fullbringers. The field used to aggravate their powers causes their Hollow energy to build up before painfully escaping. The only way to avoid this is for the user to evolve their Fullbring. [[StuffBlowingUp If not...]]
* PetTheDog:
** Hurricane is Soul Society's premiere {{Jerkass}} and TokenEvilTeamMate and while not the best dad truly loves Posey, his bastard daughter, and goes out of his way to defend her honor when it's insulted.
** Though he hasn't had very many appearances, the Lament seems rather fond of doing this.
* PercussiveMaintenance: Tempest suggests this in order to get [[spoiler: ''The Treasury'']] up and running. Seaspray only does so as to prove Tempest wrong, only for it to actually work.
* PercussivePrevention: After running into Captain Blueblood, an enraged Rarity orders Sunset to run while she deals with him personally. Sunset, despite not being able to use her right arm fully, is having none of that and prepares to leap in to help right up until [[spoiler: Ditzy Doo]] sucker punches her in the chest and runs off with her slung over her shoulder.
* PersonOfMassDestruction:
** The reason why Captain [[spoiler:Celestia]] refuses to ever use even just her Shikai in a populated area. Apparently, [[MyGreatestFailure the last time she did so was so bad she swore off doing so again]]. Details are sparse, [[spoiler:but it involves the death of Captain Platinum's husband]].
** Princess Celestia is revealed to be this, able to cast extremely powerful magic spells that can decimate her surroundings. The drawback is that [[AwesomeButImpractical these spells take quite a bit of time to prepare and cast]], stating that someone like Tirek could drain her magic before it's completed or Discord could snap his fingers and turn it on her (which he apparently has done in the past).
** Hollow King Tirek and Quincy King Sombra are this without a doubt. Sombra's Schrift "The Absolute" grants him total mastery of space and one way he can manipulate it is to create arrows capable of punching through even the strongest materials. Tirek without releasing his zanpakuto is strong enough to unleash swings capable of destroying ''skyscrapers'' while his Ceros are described as akin to solar flares, and just one shot was almost enough to blast through Shining Armor's [[LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe Bastion power]].

* ScarsAreForever: Luna gains a scar over eye. While it would be easy to remove, she keeps it as a reminder until she settles her match with the Arrancar who gave it to her. [[WorthyOpponent She says it's not sign of a grudge but a respect.]]

** Human Chrysalis is FauxAffablyEvil incarnate, but she does truly love her "trueborn" Arrancar children, namely Thorax, Pharynx, and Ocellus. Thorax is actually rather conflicted by this, since he wants to call his mother "evil", but knows that she genuinely loves him and his siblings. [[spoiler: That love is so strong that [[DoppelgangerGetsSameSentiment it extends even to their Equestrian Counterparts.]]]] This is in stark contrast to her Equestrian counterpart.

* StrongAndSkilled: Bowtie, who matches [[UnskilledButStrong Sweet Cider]] in strength but outclasses her in [[MasterSwordsman fencing skills.]] He's eager to point it out.

** Fluttershy proves to be surprisingly efficient in it as much in shielding herself and her friends.

* TheAtoner: Discord is responsible for many horrible things, but he grew to see the members of Xctiun as friends and family and deeply regretted putting their lives in danger. After the termination of the group, there wasn't a day he didn't regret irrevocably altering their lives. In his own words, all his actions are motivated by the desire for change and to protect the lives of X-cution's children. [[spoiler: He laments that all his actions only pushed them further into the spiritual conflict.]]

* Rapid Fire fisticuffs: Fluttershy of all people. Helps she has [[MultiArmedAndDangerous six arms and can generate more.]] [[spoiler: Not that it helps against member of Zero Division.]]

* ShieldBash: Sunset doesn't hesitate to use her shield offensively in combat, and it even has a sharpened lower tip just for that reason.

StrongAndSkilled: Bowtie, who matches [[UnskilledButStrong Sweet Cider]] in strength but outclasses her in [[MasterSwordsman fencing skills.]] He's eager to point it out.

* DraggedOffToHell: The fate of any soul subjected to the Soul Reaper's ''Konsou'' ritual that ends up summoning the [[HellGate Gates of Hell]], usually reserved for any soul judged too sinful in life. [[spoiler:Or any soul the Zero Division wants to have removed from the cycle of reincarnation for their own reasons, whether it's because you're someone they have a personal beef with or just a reincarnation of said person. Sunburst being the latter is what causes Starlight's StartOfDarkness, and Rarity ends up suffering this fate for being the former in Episode 180.]]

* MeaningfulName: Just about every Zanpaktou's name is one of these. For example [[spoiler:Flash Sentry's]] Zanpakuto ''Kochi Yojinbo'' (East Wind Bodyguard) represents how his pony self [[spoiler:is a member of the royal guard.]]

** [[spoiler:Sweet Cider]], being this world's Kenpachi, is this as well. She lacks Bankai or any real skill in Kido, but her raw physical power puts her in league with the likes of [[spoiler:Celestia]] and Hurricane in terms of destructive power and she's technically the physically strongest of all the Captains (barring Captain-Commander Scorpan). On the topic of [[spoiler:Sweet Cider]], her Shikai is this as well. It doesn't have any fancy powers. It just absorbs her Spirit Energy and lets it out ''hard''. [[spoiler:And she only gets stronger when she regains access to her Fullbring and unlocks her true Shikai]].

* SuperPrototype: The Zanpaktou of the Zero Division are the first of their kind, forged by the Zero Division member [[UltimateBlacksmith Bowtie]] for himself and his fellow divine siblings. The mass-produced Asauchi that would become the standard Soul Reaper Zanpaktou came later when Soul Society was established and are much weaker due to how most Soul Reapers are mostly still human souls [[spoiler:(or rather, [[PiecesOfGod fragmented divine souls]])]] that couldn't hope to handle that kind of power, and [[OldSoldier Scorpan's]] own Zanpakutou ''Shiki no Ren'' was the first of even those, an "in-between" stage before Bowtie settled on the Asauchi. Most notably, the Zero Division's Zanpaktou don't have "Shikai" or "Bankai" states to restrict their power, but instead call upon their true power with only the {{Invocation}} of their names, and their base power without it already rivals if not surpasses most Bankai abilities.

* TallPoppySyndrome: [[spoiler:Adagio Dazzle]] learns that while Las Noches is ruled by the motto of "[[TheSocialDarwinist the strong will rise while the weak serve]]", the higher and more importantly the ''quicker'' you rise will get you all sorts of attention, with the higher ups intrigued or threatened by a potential threat to their status quo (especially if you're nearing their level) while your supposed peers rankle at the idea you got it "easy" by breezing through the ranks at speeds that took them years of training and struggle to reach. The current Fourth Espada is equally feared and envied for coming out of nowhere a few years back, crippling the former Sixth Espada when the latter tried to "teach him a lesson", and then fighting Tirek before being given his seat. [[spoiler:Adagio follows suit when she goes from a simple Adjuchas to a Vasto Lorde, and later still an Arrancar worthy as the new Sixth Espada over the current one Guto (a very prideful warrior who didn't take kindly to how she chose to be tested by Tirek rather than face him directly, though to be fair, she would have taken the position of the Seventh Espada to avoid ruffling his feathers if Tirek had let her) in the span of only about a month]]. About the only person who ''doesn't'' really care is [[AsskickingEqualsAuthority Tirek]], since he's so strong no one can hope to match him in a one-on-one and he wants strong warriors no matter what their circumstances.

* OldMaster: Each member of the Zero Division is responsible for establishing a fundamental part of Soul Society. Bowtie [[UltimateBlacksmith created the Zanpakutous]], Minty [[CombatMedic founded the healing arts of Kaido]], and Medley [[KungFuWizard placed down the principles of Hakuda and Shunko]].

* ArmorPiercingSlap: Twilight delivers one of these to King Sombra, of all people [[spoiler:after learning he lied to her and her family about [[SealedInsideAPersonShapedCan the Eye sealed inside her soul.]]]]

** [[spoiler:Glory's betrayal of the Soul Queen was motivated by her mother's refusal to intervene in the war between Tirek's Hollows and the Soul Reapers despite it leading to the deaths of most of their family and it being clear that nothing short of death would stop Tirek. Not only does she keep the war going after defeating her mother and stealing her power in order to hide their true aims, but the fact that she's willing to "preserve" some mortal souls from the fate of being broken down to revive the fallen means that she's fully aware that mortals are just as worthy as existence as those she has lost, and Scorpan even calls her out for how she's directly going against the values Soul Society is supposed to represent.]]

* EvilReactionary: [[spoiler:The Zero Division's entire plan is ba

** Even as we learn more about the full depths of the [[spoiler:Zero Division's]] manipulations and plans, their ultimate goals remain vague, not helping this is the fact that the various members don't always see eye-to-eye, and may have separate agendas from the group's. Human Starlight also hints that their plans might be a threat to Equestria as well...

** [[spoiler:The Zero Division as a whole has shades of this, but particularly Glory, who is described as being willing to go to any lengths to make the world what she thinks that it ''should'' be, desiring to create a 'new universe free of all evil'. For that, she is willing to consign the reincarnated members of the Star former noble family (like Sunburst) who rebelled after opposing the formation of Central 46, along with other otherwise innocent and undeserving enemies of threats to them, to Hell, which itself slowly breaks down the souls of Sinners into base resihi particles with each death and revival as energy for some future goal, hypocritically removing the souls from the cycle like they accuse the Quincy of doing with their arrows.]]
