** The Chief in the source material was revealed to have survived the original team's apparent sacrifice to defend Codsville during Paul Kupperberg's run and [[LosingYourHead continued living as a disembodied head]] in Rachel Pollack's run after he was decapitated by the Candlemaker in Creator/GrantMorrison's run before eventually inexplicably having his body restored. In this continuity, he dies of old age shortly after his [[RelatedInTheAdaptation daughter]] Dorothy Spinner has her first period and, while brought back as a disembodied head by Willoughby Kipling, dies for good when he sacrifices himself so that the zombified Doom Patrol can return to normal by eating his brains.

* ''Series/TheIncredibleHulk1977'' was finished in a TV movie called ''Death of the Incredible Hulk'', which as promised, ended with the Hulk's demise. Subverted, however, due to the fact that this wasn't ''supposed'' to be the case, as a script was written for another film that brought him back, but it wasn't made due to low ratings and any chance of it coming into fruition ended when Bill Bixby died in 1993.

In [[ComicBook/DoomPatrol the comics]], the best the Doom Patrol could do was make it so that the Decreator's efforts to unmake the universe now occurred at such an extremely slow pace that it was no longer an ''immediate'' threat to all existence.

** The second half of the fourth season revealed that Lilly Chambler was devoured by walkers right after killing the Governor in the mid-season finale. ** Lori dies giving birth midway through season 3, while in the comic she survived giving birth to her daughter for a little while longer.
** Allen and his family are an odd example. Allen and his wife Donna didn't stay that long, but they died much later in the timeline. Their son Ben played this straight though, as he was killed off during a CanonForeigner's DyingMomentOfAwesome while his comic counterpart was killed by Carl long after the prison arc.
** Olivia was shot by Negan's high ranking soldier, Arat. In the comics, she was [[OffWithHisHead decapitated]] by Alpha.
** Emmett Carson (only called Carson in the comics), another of Alpha's victims in the comics, also died sooner at the hands of Negan when he threw him into a furnace.
** The third season finale, aired in 2013, kills off Andrea, four years before her death in the comics in 2017. In the TV show she dies during the Woodbury storyline, while in the comics she dies after the Whisperer War. In both mediums, she is bitten by a walker on the neck and given the opportunity to say her goodbyes.
