Between shows, CBBC has a presenter or two, who tells the audience what is coming up and reads out cards and stuff sent in by the audience. There are also competitions. Between its launch in 1985 (prior to 1985, presentation was done by normal, out-of-vision announcers, with special slides and, by 1984, animations generated live on-air by a UsefulNotes/BBCMicro; the decision was made to use in-vis to compete with the growing popularity of [[Creator/{{CITV}} Children's ITV]]) and 1994, it was broadcast from [=BBC1=]'s continuity suite, known as "the broom cupboard". (Most people probably still think it was an actual broom cupboard.) Almost anyone old enough to remember this era considers it the golden age. The presenters of the early years (2002-2007) of the digital channel are also remembered fondly by those who grew up with the channel. Many presenters have been accompanied by cheeky puppets, notably Gordon the Gopher, Edd the Duck and Otis the Aardvark, and currently the dogs Hacker and Dodge. Presenters also get a few craps past the radar (and a bit of HoYay).

The channel comes on from 7am to 7pm on BBC Three, after which the latter takes over and airs until morning, after which CBBC takes back over. Back when BBC Three moved to the iPlayer in 2016, CBBC's hours were extended to 9pm, until Three came back to linear TV in 2021.
