* [[spoiler: HeelFaceTurn]]: [[spoiler:Episode 138 has Don Thousand being freed and trying to absorb Vector, who screams in terror and for help. This prompts Yuma to jump in to try and rescue him from this grim fate, despite the pleas of his friends that Vector cannot be trusted and shouldn't be rescued. This does not stop him however from grabbing Vector' hand to keep him from being absorbed, and calls Vector "Shingetsu", reminiscing on their times together as friends, and telling him it is his true self. Vector appears moved by Yuma, but then reveals his psychotic face and laughs, grabbing Yuma's arm with his other hand, to drag him with him to his demise. However, Yuma didn't seem to mind, and just smiled at Vector compassionately, telling him he will go with him. This time, Vector is truly moved by his rescuer, lets go of him and lets himself be absorbed by Don Thousand to save Yuma, calling him one last time,"Yuma-kun" with a sincere smile. Can be counted as BecomingTheMask, though it might just be the real Vector from before Don Thousand's interference. Might also count as DyingAsYourself]]

How is Vector a spoiler character but Merag and Nasch aren\'t? Don Thousand isn\'t really a spoiler character either. Also, no spoilers above the examples line. See Handling Spoilers.

In truth, they were once humans. Each of the Legendary Numbers is related to one of them due to them being near the areas where Astral sealed the numbers away. They were reincarnated into Barians by Don Thousand because of this. The Barian World itself used to be one with the Astral World, but was separated from it when the Astrals attempted to expel chaos from their world in order to Rank-Up.

The first being from the Barian World, Vector is the true instigator of the plot and the reason behind all of Dr. Faker and Tron's villainous actions. Everything from setting up Kazuma and Arclight for a fall to the collection of the Numbers was done on this being's behalf, as he promised Faker a cure for Haruto's illness. Was the holder of No. 66: Supreme-Key Beetle - Master Key Beetle and is the holder of [=CNo.=] 5: Perishing-Gloom Dragon - Chaos Chimera Dragon, No. 43: Soul Puppeteering Demon - Soul Marionetter, [=CNo.=] 43: Soul-Puppeteering Demon God - Chaos Marionetter, No. 104: Masquerade Magician - Shining, and [=CNo.=] 104: Masquerade Magician - Umbral.

His true identity is the prince of the ruined castle in the myth of No. 65: Adjudicutting Devil - Judge Buster, who executed a large amount of people, attacked (past life) Shark and Rio's kingdom, and then committed suicide when he was the only one left. However, this information is being hidden from him by Don Thousand, so his reaction remains to be seen, other than involuntary reactions of fear and occasional recognition within the ruins themselves. Nasch had scored 100,000,000 on a point system Vector had created, which was one point for every time Nasch spoke or did something that annoyed Vector. (On the other hand, one might say that Nasch had to have been ''pretty'' annoying if that was true, but then, [[UnreliableNarrator it's not like Vector's word can be trusted]].)]]
* EvilLaugh[=/=]LaughingMad: He sure likes his insane laughter.
* {{Expy}}: His insane and malicious personality calls to mind Yami Marik from the original series, and Yubel from ''Anime/YuGiOhGX'', with his dual coloring of black and white also referencing the latter. [[spoiler:His nature as an enemy who originally masquerades as a friend is extremely reminiscent of Bruno from ''YuGiOh5Ds'' too, with shades of Bakura with the seeming kindness of his false self contrasted by an incredibly vicious and sadistic true personality. And then we see him in the past, which calls the normal Marik to mind. He even calls his father by the same name Marik does.]]
* FightingAShadow: [[spoiler:In his first duel with Yuma, and the second up until Yuma blows up his Number with Hope Ray V, Vector was actually just a duplicate. The real one was Rei.]]
* FreudianExcuse: [[spoiler:He's an irredemable dick, yes, but after his past is fully revealed you can't help but feel sorry for him and think what might have been had Don Thousand not gotten involved. To elaborate, his father was a heartless conqueror much like he ended up being, but ended up injured. Vector seized this chance to propose peace talks, which his old man wasn't happy about, and this ended up with Vector's mother throwing herself in front of Vector to protect him from a sword slash. His father succumbed to his wounds and died, and [[FromBadToWorse THEN Don Thousand]] showed up and gave him his Over-Hundred Number, making him the heartless bastard we know today.]]
* GoodColorsEvilColors: [[spoiler:An interesting example in his human form: as Rei, he wears the white and red school uniform all the time, but after he reveals himself as Vector, he switches to a mostly black outfit with some purple and white.]]
* HannibalLecture: [[spoiler:Does he ''ever''. In his duel with Yuma after TheReveal, he torments both Yuma and Astral with one, and gets results. This is what ultimately brings out Dark Zexal, which threatens to corrupt Astral and Yuma to the darkness forever.]]
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler:Episode 138 has Don Thousand being freed and trying to absorb Vector, who screams in terror and for help. Can be counted as BecomingTheMask, though it might just be the real Vector from before Don Thousnad's interference. Might also count as DyingAsYourself]]
* HellBentForLeather[=/=]HighCollarOfDoom: In his human form, after TheReveal.
* HesBack: [[spoiler:Mizael and Durbe were rather surprised to see him return, assuming him to have died after Faker's defeat.]]

* JerkAss: [[spoiler:Mocks Alito and Girag after they are defeated and almost killed after dueling Yuma.]]

** [[spoiler:After TheReveal in episode 96 it sure moves into disturbing territory seeing how [[WithFriendsLikeThese he treats his allies.]] See TheReveal for details]]
* KickTheDog: [[spoiler:His speech to Yuma in episode 96 when it turns out he was pretending to be his friend as Shingetsu and continues talking like him to taunt Yuma. Does it to other people as well.]]
* KidWithTheLeash: [[spoiler:His past life enslaved Abyss by giving him blood. This made the God do his bidding until Rio's past life freed the God from his control. He's also this to Don Thousand, despite the indication otherwise.]]
* KnightOfCerebus: His first appearance marks the Barians taking matters to into their own hands. Later, he becomes this again, see KickTheDog above.
* LargeHam: Coupled with his insanity, it's more than enough to strike (disgusted) terror into the viewers.
* LightIsNotGood: [[spoiler:Masquerade Magician - Shining.]]
** [[spoiler:Also see Yuma's and ''especially'' Rei's entries for the trope.]]
* TheManBehindTheMan: To Faker, in Season One.
* ManipulativeBastard: And then some.
* {{Medusa}}: Used Gorgonic monsters [[spoiler:as minions and during his duel with Nasch in his past life.]]
* ObviouslyEvil: After TheReveal, he [[CardCarryingVillain doesn't even try to hide it.]]
* OhCrap: [[spoiler:When he realizes Hope Ray Victory can destroy his Chaos Number and win the duel for Yuma.]]
** Also in Episode 110, where he finds the Barian World is being attacked and it technically is all HIS fault. [[spoiler:To elaborate, the attack is from Black Mist, who has become a god-like entity after mastering Chaos - which Vector gave him.
** And in Episode 122 where [[spoiler:he finds out that Nasch and Merag are back with all of their memories, and all of the other Barian Emperors seem ready to attack him for his actions.]]
* TheReveal: [[spoiler:Ever since the new season began he's been playing Yuma and co. like saps. You know Rei Shingetsu, that clumsy, nice guy introduced this season and who was revealed to be a Barian on the side of good? Yeah, no. Turns out that Rei's Vector's human form he used for his BatmanGambit.]]
* RuleOfSymbolism: [[spoiler:His black and white coloring, and the massive difference between his Over-Hundred Number and its Chaos Number form both symbolize Vector effectively being 'two-faced', with the kind, humble Rei Shingetsu in truth being Vector himself.]]
* SadisticChoice: [[spoiler:Another trick he pulls in his first duel with Yuma after TheReveal. When a black hole that appears above Sargasso threatens to consume his airship with Yuma's friends inside it, Vector offers to save them if Yuma gives him all his Numbers - of course, Astral will die if he does that. (Given how much a liar Vector has been up to that point, it is questionable whether he would have done that, or even if he had the ability. Still, the point becomes moot because Kotori makes the decision for him, telling him to ignore Vector while she and the others manage to save themselves.)]]
** Not the first time he tried this. [[spoiler:In his original life, he tried it against Nasch, giving him a choice of saving Merag or saving his army. But Merag [[HeroicSacrifice made the choice for him.]])]]
* SelfMadeOrphan: [[spoiler:Subverted. Don Thousand altered his memory. Thousand even references the trope CorruptTheCutie, saying that past Vector was the ideal target: since he was so pure-hearted, the darkness born from killing his parents was much deeper than it would have been in anyone else. That is what made him such a powerful Barian. ]]
* TheStarscream: Works behind [[spoiler:Nasch's]] back to get rid of him and obtain more power for himself.
* SuperpowerLottery: [[spoiler:Thanks to him manipulating Yuma with "Shingetsu"'s friendship, he completely unbalanced his duel with Yuma. When Yuma directly attacked him with Hope Ray V, he used Vain - Sneer of Betrayal, which stops the attack and forces Yuma to not only mill the five V cards Shingetsu had given him from his deck, but also ''five additional cards for every one of those''. This leaves Yuma with three cards left in his deck.]]
** [[spoiler:And then just to add insult to injury he summons a monster that can mill one more card from Yuma's deck every turn.]]
** His deck after [[spoiler:Don Thousand gave it an upgrade, which in his duel with Merag and Durbe forced them to wipe his Life Points out in one turn or he'd just gain them all back. He can also summon a monster that not only gains attack equal to the damage he took that turn but also deals the same amount of damage to his opponents. Bonus points by using the trope PoweredByAForsakenChild : the card that restores Vector's lifepoints at the end of each turn takes in fact the power it needs from the Imprisoned Nasch.]]
* TakingYouWithMe: [[spoiler:Attempts to do this to Yuma as he is being absorbed by Don Thousand, but decides against it at the last minute when he learns that Yuma still treasured their old friendship.]]
* TokenEvilTeammate:[[spoiler:A ruthless and heartless individual who uses and manipulates others for both his goals and sick pleasure. His own fellow Barians despise him, but put up with him since they have the same goal of saving Barian World.]]
* {{Troll}}: Especially notable in episode 101 in which he [[spoiler:casually greets Yuma after imprisoning him, and teases him by feigning disappointment over the fact that Yuma doesn't refer to him as Rei Shingetsu anymore.]]
* VerbalTic: Occasionally adds "jyan" to his sentences. More prominent whenever he explains a plan that he has done.
* VillainOverride[=/=]YouHaveFailedMe: When Faker starts losing, Vector decides to revoke his free will privileges.
** [[spoiler:Pulls a YouHaveFailedMe on Alito as well, after his loss to Yuma.]]
** Thousand eventually pulls this on him.
* VillainousBreakdown: [[spoiler:A glorious one when Yuma and Astral form [=ZeXal=] II, summon Hope Ray Victory, NoSell Sargasso, and use Ray Victory to win the duel.]]
* VillainTeamUp: With [[spoiler:Black Mist.]]
* WingedHumanoid: While fairly similar to Astral in most ways, one thing Vector has that Astral doesn't is large, vaguely demonic wings. [[spoiler:Turns out this is because his true form also has wings.]]

->Voiced by: Takaguchi Kousuke (JP), MarcThompson (EN)

The first Barian Emperor to appear on Earth, he brainwashes various characters using the "Rank-Up Magic - Barian's Force" card, which allows them to summon Chaos Xyz monsters. He's quite physically powerful, but doesn't strategise particularly well, which leads to the defeat of his various minions. Holds No. 58: Flame Pressure Demon - Burner Visor, No. 106: Huge Rock Palm, Giant Hand and [=CNo.=] 106: Lava Palm, Giant Hand Red.

In his past life, he was known as Kiraku Souhachi and was a great warrior, known for being wise and benevolent, often sharing the spoils of his conquests with the populace. He befriended a tanuki, Ponta, while on the battlefield one day. Ponta became his body double. Much of his legend was Ponta's doing. As his body double, Ponta won many conquests. Eventually, he and Kiraku parted ways in order to protect Ponta and Kiraku was killed in a battle.
----
* AmbiguouslyEvil: He gives Alito tips on how to impress a girl and loves television. (However, [[AliensStealCable he also steals cable]].)
* AxCrazy: [[spoiler:After Alito is attacked, he becomes very determined to make Shingetsu pay.]]
* BigEater: Spends most of his screentime in Episode 80 eating.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: Girag does this to people by using the "Rank-Up Magic - Barian's Force" card.
** [[spoiler:He and Alito get hit with this when Don Thousand strips them of their free will entirely.]]
* TheBrute: Possibly. His minions are usually the ones who come up with the plans.
** He was finally able to come up with a decent plan for once in the Sports Duel episode [[spoiler:only for Shark to become his SpannerInTheWorks]].
* CastFromHitpoints: Using his Hand cards causes him extreme physical pain.
* CombatPragmatist: He'll do anything to complete his mission. Which is why he chooses to mind control humans and ZergRush Yuma.
* TheFarmerAndTheViper: [[spoiler:Both Yuma and Ponta fall for the story he gives after Ponta steals his body, which turns out to be a big mistake. (See ILied)]]
* FingerPokeOfDoom[=/=]ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: The effect of [[spoiler:Giant Hand. The affected monster seems to be in terrible pain, and it explodes the moment it tries to attack.]]
* GoKartingWithBowser: The Sports Duel Tournament episode, in which he Tag Duels with Yuma. (Granted, he really didn't want to.)
* GrandTheftMe: He's a victim of this, courtesy of Ponta. ([[SaveTheVillain Yuma has to rescue him,]] [[spoiler:and later regrets it.]])
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler:After Alito [[HeroicSacrifice sacrifices himself to restore his memories]], but not for long...]]
* ILied: Claims he made up the story of sending Ponta away to protect him [[spoiler:He didn't.]]
* KickTheDog: [[spoiler:After telling Ponta how he didn't want him to die alongside Kiraku and his men, he proceeds to eat the racoon dogs soul and says he tricked him.]]
* LaughingMad
* MadeOfIron: Takes a punch directly to the face with no ill effects whatsoever.
** [[spoiler:Changes when he's in a duel, however; his cards have the odd effect of inflicting harm on him, forcing him to end duels quickly.]]
* RevengeBeforeReason: He's so enraged when Alito is beaten up by Rei, he disobeys Mizael and goes gunning for revenge, and when Yuma defends him, thinking Rei is an amateur, Girag actually challenges both of them at once, using cards that [[CastFromHitpoints are as dangerous to him as the are to his opponents]]. This proves a mistake, as Rei is ''much'' [[ObfuscatingStupidity better than anyone assumed.]] [[spoiler:In fact, we later learn he's downright deadly and capable of murder; [[EvilAllAlong he's actually Vector in disguise]].]]
* SpitTake: When Alito "confesses".
* SuperMode: [[spoiler:[=CNo.=] 106: Lava Palm, Giant Hand Red for his Number.]]
* TakingTheBullet: [[spoiler:He pushes Yuma away to have his soul absorbed instead.]]
* TerribleArtist: His attempt to draw manga-style characters are quite bad and even his brainwashed minion struggles with not telling him so.

The second Barian Emperor to appear on Earth, Alito believes that Girag's lack of progress makes him unsuitable to represent the Barians on Earth; however, shortly after arriving, Alito proceeds to fall in love with Kotori, distracting him from the Barian mission as well. Holds No. 80: Madquipped Supreme King - Rhapsody in Berserk, [=CNo.=] 80: Exequipped Supreme King - Requiem in Berserk, No. 105: Burning Knuckler Cestus the Meteor, and [=CNo.=] 105: Burning Knuckler - Caestus the Comet.

His true origins lie within the legend behind No. 54: Rebellious Fighter - Lion Heart, which regards the strongest gladiator to ever exist who specialized in unarmed/unarmored combat. He was the prince's rival and friend, and was well respected in the kingdom. One day however, Don Thousand, in the form of an old man, brainwashed both the prince's council and the prince himself, and had Alito put up to death, modifying his memories in the process to fill him with hate, causing his rebirth as a Barian.
----
* AmbiguouslyBrown: His theme music sort of implies he's meant to seem Mexican, but being an alien, he still really fits under the "ambiguous nationality" umbrella that fits this trope.
** Then it's revealed he was originally human is supposed to be Roman.
* AmbiguouslyEvil: Wants a good fight with Yuma and no other way of defeating him. [[spoiler:This becomes less ambiguous after he recovers thanks to Don Thousand corrupting him.]]
* AxCrazy: After his revival and up [[spoiler:until Yuma defeats him in Episode 130.]].
* BiTheWay: He claims that "if an angel were to descend" in front of him, he'd allow himself to be distracted by love. His "angels" were Kotori and Yuma.
* BloodKnight: A dueling equivalent at least. The thing he enjoys the most is clashing in a passionate and Exciting duel with a WorthyOpponent. He even sabotaged Girag's plan of cornering Yuma with Brainwashed duelists in order to get a go himself with Yuma, One on One, as they did the first time. (Also uses the trope LetsFightLikeGentlemen) He even describes his duels against Yuma and Astral during the final arc as "Intense, Red-Hot, The best!"
** [[spoiler:It can also apply to his past life as a gladiator. He wasn't a slave like real-life gladiators, he fought willingly, passionately and loved it, even becoming rivals with the prince.]]
* TheBrute: Appears to be one alongside Girag. [[spoiler:He didn't even realize Yuma was the person he was supposed to find and defeat until ''after'' Astral appears during the duel]].
* TheCasanova[=/=]KidAnova: What he'd like to believe.
* ConspicuousCG: Subverted by [[spoiler:No.105: Burning Knuckler - Cestus the Meteor. Played straight with its [=CNo=]. form.]]
* EvilCostumeSwitch: After being attacked by [[spoiler:Vector]] and being sent back to the Barian world, while Girag is still using a school uniform, Alito's outfit has changed to a red jacket. Not quite an evil vibe, per se, but...
* FriendlyEnemy[=/=]NobleDemon: To Yuma; not that he even realised Yuma was his world's enemy until he actually fought him.
** [[spoiler:Inverted in episode 104, most likely due to Don Thousand accelerating his healing process. He returns to his former status after his defeat in Episode 130.]]
* FriendToAllChildren: [[spoiler:Was this in his past life.]]
* GoodOldFisticuffs: The theme of his Burning Knuckler archetype. [[spoiler:In his past life as a gladiator, he fought with nothing but his fists, even against armed opponents. Implies the trope BadassNormal in his past life]]
* GreenEyedMonster: Jealous of Kotori's interest in Yuma, and attempts to crush him in a duel (partially) because of it.
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler:After Yuma succeeds in purging him of Don Thousand's influence, Alito agrees to join him in his mission to stop Don Thousand. Of course, [[GoodAllAlong whether he was ever truly evil to begin with]] is questionable.]]
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler:Have himself lose the duel with Girag intentionally in order to recover the latter's memory.]]
* HonorBeforeReason
* {{Hotblooded}}: All the time, but was considerably more violent about it after his initial revival.
* {{Hypocrite}}[=/=]HypocriticalHumor: Chastises Girag for falling in love for a magical girl in a TV show, then proceeds to fall in love with Kotori in the next scene.
* ImagineSpot: They're quite creepy.
* {{Jerkass}}: After his revival and until [[spoiler:Episode 130]].
* LetsFightLikeGentlemen: His initial approach towards Yuma. But in the Legendary Number War, due to [[spoiler:Don Thousand, this trope went up in a puff of smoke until his defeat in Episode 130 during the Barian Emperor Onslaught.]]
* LoveAtFirstSight: When he crashes into Kotori. [[spoiler:Gets over her by the end of the episode]].
* PeekABangs: Partially the "mysterious" variety, since he's a Barian Lord, partially the "seductive" since he enjoys trying to hit on people, and partially "vulnerable" since he's the youngest of the Barians and seems to be the least focused on their mission.
* PoweredArmor: Not for himself, but for his Ace cards: Number 80: Rhapsody in Berserk and its SuperForm Number C80: Requiem in Berserk are humanoids that become a suit of armor for Alito's monster. [[spoiler:Number 80 and C80 double as some sort of ArtifactOfDoom given to Alito By Don Thousand to amplify his control over him]].
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: His behavior after being revived surprises Yuma. He actually plays defensively in the tag duel. In the later one-on-one duel, he instead goes for a OTK strategy. Neither fits his HotBlooded personality and the way he had previously dueled using Counter Trap Cards.
* TheRival: Wants to become Yuma's rival.
* SacrificialLion: [[spoiler:After his loss to Yuma leaves him unscathed and he simply departs on good terms, he's attacked and badly injured by an unidentified enemy, establishing that the circumstances of the series are starting to get more serious.]]
** PartingFromConsciousnessWords[=/=]DyingClue: [[spoiler:Just before he falls unconscious, he manages to choke out "Shingetsu," in response to Girag asking him who was responsible for the attack.]]
* SparedByTheAdaptation: A variation, and more like "Spared by the Dub". In the original version, Alit was framed for treason by friends of his rival (even though the rival did not approve) and executed as a result; the dub version simply says he was banished as punishment.
* SuperMode: [[spoiler:His Number has one, [=CNo.=] 105: Burning Knuckler - Caestus the Comet.]]
* WalkingShirtlessScene: Pick a scene, any scene where he's not at school (and even a few where he is) and he'll be shirtless and most likely sweaty from exercise.

The third Barian to appear on Earth. After noting the lack of progress from both Girag and Alito, Durbe sends Mizael next with a special gift in tow: Barian Sphere Fields for each of them. Mizael wastes no time at all, and immediately confronts Yuma and Astral. He is feared by many due to controlling a being no-one else can control, No. 107: Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon. However, his true ace is his dragon's even greater form, [=CNo.=] 107: Neo Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon.

A long time ago, he was the tamer of a dragon who protected the land. However, when disasters struck the land, a shaman from another state declared the dragon responsible. Mizael pleaded with the public for the dragon's innocence, and threatened to commit suicide; however, the shaman's country launched an attack, killed Mizael and the dragon, and took over the state. Mizael became a Barian (and doesn't remember anything), while his dragon became Jinlong, the "guardian" of No. 46: Ethereal Dragon - Draggluong.
----
* AdaptationalVillainy: The dub version of his past is ''much'' darker than the original (despite the fact that he survived in the dub version). [[spoiler:In both versions, he was saved by dying of thirst by a dragon named Jinlong, later became a powerful dragon tamer, and protected his lands along with Jinlong. That's where the original version and dub versions change. In the original, a spy posing as a shaman blames the dragon for a deluge that flooded the village; Mizael defended him from the rioting villagers and even offered his life so the villagers would believe him. They were then ambushed by a neighboring army, which killed Mizael and Jinlong and took over the land. In the dub, however, Mizael was far from innocent, betraying Jinlong during the crisis and attacking him alongside the villagers.]]
* BerserkButton: [[spoiler:Stealing his Tachyon Dragon is a pretty good way to piss him off.]]
* {{Bishounen}}
* BlondGuysAreEvil: Even more notable because he's the first Barian to actually be a serious threat.
* CurbStompBattle[=/=]WakeUpCallBoss: He was the first to come close to absolutely destroying Yuma, and only spares him when Kaito arrives to give him a better challenge. Also, the battle with Mizael (if one can call it that) drives Yuma into his second HeroicBSOD.
** [[spoiler:He finds himself on the receiving end of a CurbStompBattle during his duel with Don Thousand. Thousand only needed to play two very powerful cards.]]
* EvenEvilHasStandards: [[spoiler:Durbe had to stop him from attacking Vector after he insulted the fallen Alito and Girag.]]
* EvilCounterpart: No. 107 is one to Kaito's Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon. Its name, Tachyon, and its effect which is clearly meant to parallel and counter Photon Dragon's. Additionally, it has [[spoiler:an evolved form just like Photon Dragon, also called Neo Galaxy-Eyes.]]
* HiddenDepths: His comments when examining Alito's injured body were extremely insulting, but the look on his face suggested he cared much more than that. He later proves this when Vector taunts that Alito and Girag might not wake up and has to be stopped from physically assaulting Vector by Durbe.
* HonorBeforeReason: His first duel shows strong signs of this. He has Yuma right where he wants him, but is only too happy to let Kaito take over simply to prove that ''his'' Galaxy-Eyes is better (even though this would gain neither him nor the Barians anything at that point), simply due to his pride as a Duelist who uses a Galaxy-Eyes dragon. This leads to his second big mistake, Ranking Up his Galaxy-Eyes to its Chaos form and assuming his own Barian form, which nearly causes the Sphere Field to rupture, nearly killing both of them and - possibly - resulting in a cataclysmic disaster which he only averts by fleeing. Clearly, letting Kaito take over simply out of pride was a bad idea.
** This is also why he doesn't use Sargasso's Lighthouse as he wants to fight Kaito fairly in their second duel.
* LargeHam: ''Seriously''. More so in the dub.
* LetsFightLikeGentlemen: The only Barian to take the damage from Sargasso head-on without using "Sargasso's Lighthouse". According to him, it seems because he wants to defeat Kaito fairly as both control a Galaxy-Eyes monster.
* LongHairedPrettyBoy
* ManInWhite: In his human form.
* MeaningfulName: For No. 107. A tachyon is a hypothetical particle which goes even faster than light; compared with photons which are the things light is made of.
* NearVillainVictory: After the effect of [[spoiler:Neo Tachyon Dragon]] was revealed, hell, after its ATK was revealed, it's clear that had he been able to continue, Kaito was screwed. YMMV on the second duel, depending on what Kite had left in his hand.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon looks rather more like a machine than a dragon.
* PlotIrrelevantVillain: Seems to fall into this, given that he only apparently exists to fill in a Barian Emperor slot and to give Kaito something to do, but [[spoiler:massively averted when it's revealed that their rivalry is the key to the Key of the Numeron Code. Which he now has, with a vengance against Don Thousand. Also the first Emperor NOT to be offed after being beaten in the sixth arc.]]
* TheRival: To Kaito and his Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon.
--> '''Mizael''': [[ThereCanBeOnlyOne There can be only one]] Galaxy-Eyes holder!
* ThisCannotBe: Does not take any indication that he was once a human well, be it from Durbe or [[spoiler:his own dragon in his past life.]] Finding Mizael angrier anywhere else would be hard.
** And then we find him even angrier when [[spoiler:III and V nick his Tachyon Dragon and prevent him Ranking it Up. Mizael gets PISSED.]]
* SuperMode: [[spoiler:For his Number, [=CNo.=] 107: Neo Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon.]]
* WorthyOpponent: In spite of his immense pride, he views Kaito as this to the point that [[spoiler:he sheds tears at the latter's death, following their final duel.]] He also accepts a duel with V and III solely because V was the one who taught Kaito how to duel. V even literally calls himself a worthy opponent and Mizael looked like he'd creamed himself.
* WouldHitAGirl: Casually knocks Kotori to the ground with a sphere of energy [[ForTheEvulz just to get Yuma's attention]].

Seemingly the leader of the Barians that saved Tron and are now attacking Yuma. He is the most level-headed among them, though he intimidates them (namely Alito) into doing his bidding at times. Following the return of Vector, he's been following along with his plans and seemingly has abdicated his position as the group's leader. Wields No. 102: Holy Lightning - Glorious Halo and [=CNo.=] 102: Unholy Lightning - Noble Demon.

His true origins relate to the story of the Knight and Pegasus, which is told in the first set of ruins that hold one of the 7 legendary Numbers (No. 44: White Sky Horse - Sky Pegasus), as well as the pegasus' spirit, Mach. He is actually the knight that rode the pegasus, and a friend of (past life) Shark, whose kingdom he helped save once.
----
* [[BiggerBad Even Bigger Bad]]: Was the highest-ranking Barian Emperor, until Vector's reappearance and the return of [[spoiler:their god, Don Thousand]] robbed him of this status. [[spoiler:Him turning Shark back into Nasch also counts, since Nasch was their original leader]]

* LightIsNotGood: Uses the Holy Lightning archetype, which consists of LIGHT-attributed monsters.
* {{Megane}}: In his human form.
* NobleDemon: He is honestly quite noble despite his wish to do whatever it takes to save the Barian World. [[spoiler:His Chaos Number's name even literally references the trope.]]
* SelfDeprecation: Has little confidence in his leadership compared to Nasch's.
* SequelHook: He appears at the end on the last episode of ZEXAL I..
* UndyingLoyalty: He is fiercely loyal to [[spoiler:Nasch and Merag, due to his connection to them during his past life.]]
* VillainousRescue: [[spoiler:Saves Shark just as a stone wall is about to crush him, and then urges Yuma to pay the cost and protect Hope, which eventually leads up to Yuma's win. Even though he is very focused on protecting the Barian World, he could have let Yuma lose and perished along with Shark, but he didn't. And even he doesn't know why.]]

[[caption-width-right:350:The Seventh One]]
->Voiced by [[spoiler:Toshiki Masuda]] (JP)

One of two Barian Emperors said to be missing. According to Vector, they just disappeared some time ago, and he speculates they are in the human world. The one image of Nasch shown featured him sat on a throne, and his silhouette resembled Shark's. At one point, Durbe used his name while he was trapped in the human world. Stated by Durbe to have been the leader of the seven when he was around. While Durbe believes Shark and Rio are Nasch and Merag, Don Thousand claims that Vector killed them at some point. Both turn out to be true. He is the owner of No. 101: Silent Honor's Ark Knight, and by extension, [=CNo.=] 101: Silent Honor's Dark Knight.

For tropes applicable to his human form, see Main Characters > Ryoga Kamishiro
----
* AFatherToHisMen: Heavily implied by [[spoiler:how much losing them affects him and it's the reason Shark embraces his past life as Nasch.]]
* BackFromTheDead: Silent Honor's Dark Knight's ability allows it to revive itself.
* BadassCape: Only Emperor to have one.
* BlackKnight: Silent Honor's Dark Knight.
* CoolShip: [[spoiler:No.101: Silent Honors Ark Knight.]]
* {{Determinator}}: [[spoiler:No matter how hard Vector tried to escape from him and send him into despair during their duel, he never gives up and defeats Vector. And then he does it the second time around too.]]
* EvilCounterpart: [[spoiler:Chaos Xyz King of Hope '''Barian''']] to Number 39: King of Wishes, '''Hope'''.
** MeaningfulName: [[spoiler:The subtle differences in Barian's Japanese name puts it at odds with Hope. While both their names are pronounced exactly the same, the translation makes Hope the ''King of Wishes'', while Barian the ''King of Aspirations''.]]
* FunWithAcronyms: [[spoiler:His Over-Hundred Number's name is written on the card as S H Ark Knight. In other words, Shark Knight.]]
* TheMagicPokerEquation: [[spoiler:His Barian's Chaos Draw seems to effectively be the Barian version of Shining Draw. He's also the only one to use it to draw a card other than The Seventh One.]]
* MyGreatestFailure: [[spoiler:Being unable to save any of his comrades during his duel with Vector as a human.]]
* WellIntentionedExtremist: [[spoiler:Due to the fact that Astral World seeks Barian World's destruction, Shark chooses to lead the battle against them in order to protect his men who live on as part of Barian's World.]]

!!Merag (Marin)
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/zexalmarin_3502.jpg]]
->Voiced by [[spoiler:Creator/MegumiHan]] (JP)

The second of the two missing Barian Emperors As with Nasch, they vanished some time ago, and Vector speculates they are in the human world. While Durbe believes Shark and Rio are Nasch and Merag, Don Thousand claims that Vector killed them at some point. Both turn out to be true. She is the owner of No. 103: Ragna Zero, and [=CNo.=] 103: Ragna Infinity, the Funerary Sub-Zero Maiden.

For tropes applicable to her human form, see Friends in Heartland > Rio Kamishiro
----
* CuteMonsterGirl
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler:Sacrificed herself to free Abyss Splash from Vector's control. Subverted later on, turns out that Don Thousand brainwashed her to do it.]]
* ShouldersOfDoom
* SmurfettePrinciple: [[spoiler:The only female amongst the Barians so far. Also true for her Over-Hundred Number.]]
* WomanInWhite

->Voiced by: Haruhiko Jo (JP), MitsuruMiyamoto (JP, [[spoiler:True form]])

The "God of the Barian World". Vector revives him in episode 99, after which Don Thousand merges with Vector.
----
* AssimilationPlot: [[spoiler:His goal is to merge Barian World and Earth together to make it powerful enough to destroy Astral World. And he succeeds in the merging part.]]
* [[BiggerBad Bigger Bigger BIGGER Bad]]: The man behind the entire Barian World, and thus likely this show's answer to [[Manga/YuGiOh Zorc Necrophades]], [[Anime/YuGiOhGX the Light of Ruin]], and [[Anime/YuGiOh5Ds Z-one]].
* BishonenLine:[[spoiler:After absorbing Vector, he turns into his true form, which resembles that of Eliphas crossed with Number 96 (which both make sense).]]
* ChaosIsEvil: [[spoiler:To serve as a extreme Chaos counterpart to Astral World's extreme [[LightIsNotGood Order]].]]
* TheCorrupter: His power, though it can heal other Barians, makes them susceptible to his influence, making them more malicious immediately, and allowing him to remove their free will.
** [[spoiler:In general, he is this to the Barians as a whole, as he was the one who set up the circumstances for their revivals in the first place.]]
* CuttingTheKnot: [[spoiler:Since he has no clue where on Earth the Numeron Code is, he solves the problem by simply merging the Barian World with Earth to harness its power.]]
* EvilCounterpart: To [[spoiler:Eliphas, kinda. They're both extreme and villains who represent the worst of their alignment.]]
* EvilKnockoff: [[spoiler:He created a million and {{Four|IsDeath}} Fake Numbers to serve as TheVirus. Besides the ones the Fearsome Four used, there is also an EvilCounterpart of Illuminknight]]
* EvilMentor[=/=]TreacherousAdvisor: Vector absorbed him and draws power from him, but make no mistake, Don Thousand can kill him anytime he wants, and Vector is dancing to ''his'' tune.
* {{Expy}}: Because of his role in the story, he might be this to [[{{Anime/YuGiOh}} Zorc Necrophades]]. Design-wise he looks quite similar to {{Mazinkaiser}}.
* EyesDoNotBelongThere: He has one big eye in the middle of his waist.
* GodOfEvil: God of Chaos.
* HeWhoMustNotBeSeen[=/=]ShadowDiscretionShot: Has so far only been shown in shadow. You can ''kind'' of make him out in the opening, but only just.
** Then we finally see his full, unshadowed appearence in [[spoiler:Episode 129.]]
** [[spoiler:Despite this, there was still a shadowed form in the openings which appeared to be his first form, but now seems to be his true form.]]
* LargeAndInCharge: He's clearly the largest resident of the Barian World, twice as tall as even Girag. [[spoiler:Gets far bigger after Vector is defeated by Nasch.]]
* ThePowerOfHate: [[spoiler:Used with LaserGuidedAmnesia to help reincarnate the Barians.]]
* RapunzelHair: [[spoiler:In his true form, his hair is extremely long.]]
* RedEyesTakeWarning
** [[spoiler:True form instead has MismatchedEyes - one red, one blue.]]
* StoryBreakerPower: In true Yugioh villain fashion, Don Thousand's deck is utterly ridiculous. [[spoiler:One trap let him force his opponent (Mizael, no less) to OTK ''himself'', and another negated Utopia's summon and replaced it with Ganbara Knight with its effect negated. How did he use these? He activated them from his deck using a field spell he can play in your draw phase. Said field spell also allow him to use the effects of his Numeron Xyz monsters without having to detach Xyz materials. And his Ace Monster, Number C1000: Numerronius the Divine Giant, has 10,000 attack power, and powerful effects. To be slightly fair though, his Field Spell can only be used once per turn and requires him to have no other cards out. Plus, it was bad luck that Mizar had a card to OTK himself.]]
** [[spoiler:His Ace Monster with 10,000 ATK? It's got an upgraded form called Number [=CI1000=]: Numerronius Numerronia with ''100,000'' ATK! And one hell of an effect - a Catch 22: either you are forced to attack it and take massive damage, or, if you can't, lose.]]

* WingedHumanoid

!!Fearsome Four of the Dark Dueling World
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fearsomefourintro_272.jpg]]
Comprised of Semimaru, Kurage, Mosquito Ninja and lead by Mr. Heartland, assigned by Vector to steal the Numbers now that Astral has died as well as eliminate Yuma, Shark and Kaito. These four serve their master, Vector, with absolute loyalty. All four have a great distaste for humans, seeing themselves as superior lifeforms.
----
* AnimalMotifs: Cicada for Semimaru, jellyfish for Kurage, mosquito for Mosquito Ninja and fly for Mr. Heartland.
* BigCreepyCrawlies: All of them are based on one, [[OneOfTheseIsNotLikeTheOthers save for Kurage, who is a jellyfish man.]]
* FourIsDeath: Kurage, made explicit by his ace being Number 4 [[spoiler:and him being revealed to be responsible for the car crash that killed Shark and Rio's parents]]. The group as a whole are also this to a lesser extent.
* OneWingedAngel: They transform into monstrous forms to duel.
%% The following entry has been commented out for being a Zero Context Example. Do not uncomment it without explaining how they fit one or both of the tropes.
%% * QuirkyMinibossSquad[=/=]EliteMooks
* ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill: How all of them are taken out. Yuma and III finish off the duel against Semimaru by combining the use of Atlantal's effect and a few Spell Cards they deal an attack with over 20000 ATK. Shark and IV take out Kurage using Abyss Splash at 9600 ATK (justified, as they needed to take his Life Points out in one go to prevent his endless loop of jellyfish monsters.) And then Kaito and V take down Mosquito Ninja with Kaito's 12000 ATK Galaxy-Eyes, back with a vengance.
* TryingToCatchMeFightingDirty: While most villains try it, the Fearsome Four take it to a new level. Semimaru, Kurage and Mosquito Ninja all start their duels by taking half their opponents life points and adding it to theirs, just because. On top of that, Kurage and Mosquito Ninja handicap their opponents with poison and hallucinations respectively, while Semimaru simply discards a Battle Royal rule he doesn't like (not that he takes advantage of discarding that rule...) Thus far, however, all three who have dueled [[CheatersNeverProsper have lost anyway.]]
** Semimaru actually did take advantage of it - because he wanted ''Yuma and Trey'' to attack him as soon as possible. Though aside from that, and the whole life points thing, he dueled reasonably fairly (for this lot, anyway).
** And then we have Heartland's Barian field which only damages the opponent. Otherwise, Kite may well have still been able to win.
* XanatosGambit: Their modus operandi. If they win their duels against their respective targets, they will obtain the Numbers of said targets. If they lose, and lose their Numbers to those targets, then it's no big lost to them, because their Numbers are merely four out of over a million fakes manufactured by Don Thousand. Additionally, those fakes would react negatively within their targets' decks when the Dimension Fusing devices are activated, weakening the targets. The fakes also serve as a means by which the Barians can track the heroes. Either way, it's a win-win situation for them. [[spoiler:After the loses of the others, Mr. Heartland exploits the latter situation to his advantage when challenging Kaito, as the fake Number in Kaito's deck weakens him to the point where he is unable to finish the duel.]]

!!Mr. Heartland
* ''See Dr. Faker Faction for more details.''

!!Semimaru (Erazor)
* AdjustingYourGlasses: By the bridge.
* BigCreepyCrawlies: His true form is a giant humanoid cicada. his number also qualify.
* LaserGuidedAmnesia: Semimaru can suck people's memories.

!!Kurage
* MakingASplash: A water duelist and one of the reasons he wants Shark to call him sempai.
* PoisonousPerson[=/=]PoisonIsEvil: Kurage can inject his victims with poison.
* SempaiKohai: Kurage insists that everyone call him "sempai". He wants Shark to call him it because he is older and considers himself the best Water duelist. In reverse, he also calls Shark ''kohai''.
* SmallNameBigEgo: Kurage calls himself the best Water duelist. He chose to go after Shark because he also uses Water monsters. He even expects Heartland to call him sempai.

!!Mosquito Ninja
* BigBadWannabe: Well, not quite, but the only reason that he even gave Kaito and V any trouble was due to cheating beforehand, and as soon as Kaito snaps out of his hallucination, he gets flattened.
* BigCreepyCrawlies: Played straight for his true form, but interestingly subverted for his Number. It is certainly a creepy crawly, but it is most certainly ''not'' big - it's barely visible, being possibly the smallest monster seen in any ''Yu-Gi-Oh!'' series. [[spoiler:DoublySubverted when Mosquito Ninja makes the Number gain more attack, growing it into gigantic size.]]
* NinjaPirateZombieRobot: He's a Barian that is also a ninja whose true form is a mosquito.
* VerbalTic: "Ka".
* VillainousBreakdown: After Kaito snaps out of his hallucination, Mosquito Ninja loses it more and more. And with good reason.
