Badass is no longer a trope.

* BadAss: He starts to become one during the infamous Incinerator room sequence.
** CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Even BEFORE the Incinerator sequence, (where he spends most of the time being the NewMeat NervousWreck), he takes out a [[RobotDog Panzerhund]] that was mauling B.J.... telling it to "GoFetch" with [[GrenadeHotPotato a grenade]], [[StuffBlowingUp blowing the whole contraption sky-high]].
** TakesALevelInBadass: [[spoiler: The '''second''' he is spared vivisection by Deathshead]] he instantly goes up a level. He definitely went up a couple more levels between the escape from Deathshead's compound and 1960. It seems the minute BJ shows up and slaps him he starts leveling up, going from a shaking wreck, to scared but useful on the beach, to ''kicking ass''.

* SpellMyNameWithAnS: The correct polish spelling of her name is Ania. Shouldn't be a problem, since the language uses the same alphabet, but for some reason Machine Games chose to use a transcription from Russian instead. "Anya" is actually VERY grating to any Polish player.

to:

* SpellMyNameWithAnS: The This one's tricky. While her in-game name is rendered as the Russian-sounding "Anya", the correct polish Polish spelling of her name would be "Ania". The switch is Ania. Shouldn't be a problem, rather pointless since the language uses two names share very little in terms of phonetics, the same alphabet, but for some reason Machine Games chose "j/y" sound being almost inaudible in Polish, since the "ni" compound is virtually always pronounced closer to the lines of the Spanish "ñ", and so, quite ironically, even a gamer with no prior exposure to Polish spelling would probably stand a better chance of reading the name properly were it to be "Ania" rather than "Anya".
** And just to make things even more confusing, her last name is spelled with a "w", as Polish ortography would have it be, rather than a "v". It should be noted that the Polish script is pretty much the only major Latin-based Slavic alphabet
to use a transcription from Russian instead. "Anya" "w" in place of "v". Why the devlopers would opt to mess with the self-evident first name rather than the less-than-obvious last name is actually VERY grating to any Polish player. anyone's guess. For a somewhat plausible pronunciation of "Oliwa", attach an "-ah" sound at the end of the word "olive".

* DangerouslyGenreSavvy: It's hard not to see his disdain for the various {{Ghostapo}}-ish practices of his colleagues as this, given that it usually backfires tremendously. On top of that, he tries to learn from his mistakes. In ''Wolfenstein'', he specifically orders his doomsday weapon to be moved to the Zeppelin once he arrives, ''triples'' airfield security, [[spoiler:kills the resistance's leader]], orders large crack squads to exterminate the remaining resistance members, and uses [[spoiler:Hans Grosse in a Thule Medallion-powered suit]] to guard his device, knowing you're going to get through his defenses sooner or later.
** In the opening of the ''The New Order'', Deathshead takes this trope up to eleven by doing the unthinkable: [[WhamEpisode He beats B.J. Blazkowicz and wins the war]].

* {{Foil}}: Old, physically frail, calculated and [[DangerouslyGenreSavvy extremely intelligent]], in contrast to B.J.'s youth, strength and aggressive, impulsive (if not outright stupid) behavior.
