* The Media Buff: Jani has seen a lot of film, TV, and even video games (except Pokemon, oddly enough) -- both classic and contemporary, and will often equate situations to media.

* ThirdPersonPerson: NOT in the Elmo sort of way. Perhaps because she hasn't fully accepted her body's transition, she often talks about her own body as "this body", and has a detached tone when it comes to describing her sensations. She usually refers to her newly found instincts as "this thing's instincts" as well. Somewhat justified in her first battle, where her pain sensations are all out of whack versus her human experience.
** More or less dropped after the accident...even after she came to terms with reality, she's now far more in tune with her own body.

Added DiffLines:

* AccessoryWearingCartoonAnimal: Usually seen with her duffel pack, mainly purchased since she couldn't even figure out how quadrupeds store things while in PJ's body.

Added DiffLines:

* ConsummateLiar: Jani crafts an entire persona out of whole cloth, drawing from researching nearby islands and her college years in California, and takes it very seriously. She was a [=BSer=] as a Diglett but loses any prior ethical burdens in doing so as a Purrloin.

Added DiffLines:

* LeeroyJenkins: She goes a bit overboard in her first true battle as a Purrloin, hopping off a third story building and holding onto a Ditto turned Archaeops with her claws.
* LeParkour: Overall seems to be a staple of her time as a Purrloin, though justifiable as it's perfectly normal for cats.

Added DiffLines:

* MsExposition: Heavily subverted. She reveals quite a bit about the world, a large part of which is a lie constructed from research she did prior to meeting the party as well as information she absorbed from natives, such as Voxno, Lars, and even the Diglett sisters.
* Roofhopping: Jani does this less than six hours after transforming -- the way she sees it, the basic ability to jump is something most people take for granted.
* SecretIdentity: She crafted an entire persona, posing as a world native from a village called Lunalis.
* ValleyGirl: In an attempt to make "Sarah"'s more California-style speaking apparent, she dips her toes into valley girl-isms, particularly liberal use of like and totally. While somewhat justified due to her persona being a music junkie with fangirlish tendencies, her creator actually spent a good portion of her life in (mainly Northern, but also Southern) California where most people do not speak this way, but adpoted this trope anyway due to the difficulty of displaying subtle differences between American accents in a text medium.

Arriving in the second wave, Jani the Diglett woke up underground and encountered the group as they were lounging by a stream.
stream. Unlike most of the cast, she had a career going before she was forced into the world. Knowing next to nothing about the games or the show, she struggled to make sense of anything and one of her earliest adventures resulted in her getting mauled. Having her memories scrambled by a cover story she fabricated, she spent awhile thinking she was a world native, and then contracted the Viral Aggression. Leaving the party again until Hoard, she ended up being a bit rougher around the edges and world-weary.

Although she has a computer science degree, she managed to inadvertantly leak an incomplete chemical formula for vulcanized rubber to a Silversand scientist while in her deluded state. They filled in the gaps overnight and after teaming up with a local merchant, the three formed a company built around rubber and Hevea's inventions. This factors into some of Jani's absences from the party, but as it's still a fledgeling company, it has had little impact on the world.

Since the events in Hoard, an Escape Orb hitting her led the party to discover that she swapped bodies with a Diglett named Milly when she entered the world, with Milly ending up in the human world. Milly's sisters, Tilly and Lilly, depend on Jani eventually becoming willing to evolve with them, for the sake of their survival. The two became permanent party members, but as a result of Tilly's (and her mother's) overbearing nature, Jani was driven to seek a way out -- and she did, in the form of a Transfer Orb. Said orb transformed her into a different species.

She currently masquerades as a Purrloin with the alias "Sarah".

!!As a Diglett+

* AuthorAvatar: Heavily downplayed, as aspects of @/sarysa's real life were merely cherry picked. The character is aged down, with fabricated (and admittedly inconsistent) personality, and given an ignorance to the series (I'm really an EV/IV nerd who has played since 1998).

* AuthorAvatar: Heavily downplayed, as aspects of @/sarysa's real life were merely cherry picked. The Though the more life beat the tar out of her, the more the character is aged down, with fabricated (and admittedly inconsistent) personality, and given an ignorance to the series (I'm really an EV/IV nerd who has played since 1998).resembles her player.

* NiceJobBreakingItHero: Her using the Transfer Orb has immediate deliterious effects on the sisters.
* TheNicknamer: Occasionally comes up with flowery nicknames for species she doesn't know, placeholder names, or derisive nicknames for those she's angry at.
** Lucille and Richard: The McGillicuddys Series/ILoveLucy
** Tilly: Der Führer, when she became overbearing early into the Gleamscape arc.
** Wentworth: Ghost Guy (after his Sableye species)
* ParalysisByAnalysis: When Jani started plotting to use the transfer orb, her tendency toward overanalysis went UpToEleven. It got to the point people noticed her being out of it, and she recognized this very flaw, and that she must avoid it in her post-transformation life.
* RealLifeWritesThePlot: There's a bit of meta going on with Jani's decision to use a transfer orb. While it was still properly built up in-game, much of it stems from her player's ongoing uncertainty with species choice -- plus there are other layers of meta underscoring the finer details of that plot as well as Jani's speeches.

!!While Swapped With PJ

* TheNicknamer: The fake nicknamer, anyway. She came up with phony nicknames for those PJ hadn't yet assigned one to.
** Andy (Honedge): Blades
** Delilah: Del
** Dieter: Die (briefly), then Deet
** Goobert: Goobs
** Marsha: Mar (same as real PJ's nickname for Marlon)

!!As a Purrloin+

* ActorAllusion: "Sarah" is a very, very common corruption of @/sarysa -- especially in voice chat.
* BalefulPolymorph: Averted. Jani seems to like her new form within seconds of acquiring it.
* FallingDamage: Zigzagged for the sake of cluing the reader in -- she landed on her feet (like a cat) after her Aerial Ace transformation, only get distracted and forget to brake -- tumbling into a wall and passing out.
* MeaningfulName: Lampshaded. Jani's alias Sarah, as she points out, means "princess" (a common cat name) in Hebrew, and the American meaning is "happy". She certainly was happy about her change.

to:

* Twintuition: Very downplayed -- when Jani used a transfer orb, both Lilly and Tilly had a panic attack. Lilly didn't even know what it meant, but Tilly assumed it meant that Jani had died.

* AccessoryWearingCartoonAnimal: Had a brooch with an emblem of Agartha when Jani entered the world, the latter likely lost it while struggling to surface herself. Probably relatively new at the time, given her newly minted status as a diplomat.

* Ambassador: Seemed to be debuting as one before Jani came along, as she was scheduled to deliver a gift (and an invitation) to Frau Morbitesse in the interest of intercity dialogue.

to:

* InformedAttribute: Numerous, given that she is mostly talked about, and hasn't even been flashed back yet.
** Was training to be a diplomat before Jani came along, as she was scheduled to deliver a gift (and an invitation) to Frau Morbitesse in the interest of intercity dialogue.

* TigerMom: Definitely has a bit of this going on, aggressively concerned about her daughters' upbringing and standing in the world.

to:

* TigerMom: Definitely has a bit of this going on, aggressively concerned about her daughters' upbringing and standing in the world. She does demonstrate some degree of love and tolerance at the epilogue of the Agartha arc, approving of Jani's business venture since it would ultimate benefit the trio -- and best case Milly as well.

* AccessoryWearingCartoonAnimal: Lilly wears a white bow -- but she's not seen with it at first. When she met with the party, she'd left it at the tailor's.

**
Lilly wears a white bow -- but she's not seen with it at first. When she met with the party, she'd left it at the tailor's.tailor's.
** Tilly gets a Professor Juniper style wig in Orichalcum, which is a VERY subdued (and perfectly normal looking) beehive variant.

* Deconstruction: Tilly and Jani have had numerous discussions deconstructing various aspects of their experiences, with a blatant one trying to compare the humanmons' knowledge to that of world natives and how it came to be.

* LikeMotherLikeDaughter: Tilly is very much like her mother -- she sees the logic to Triss' Tiger Mom upbringing and acts somewhat like an "enforcer" of the trio, ensuring they don't stray too far from the long-term good.

* MsExposition: Tilly goes into great detail about the Terranports, the taboo, and various subjects concerning Agartha and the island.

** Tilly screaming in pure instinctive terror when Jani uses the transfer orb should be a strong indicator of how serious the situation is from her POV.

Master of the dojo in Gleamscape, and a practitioner of bougyo-jutsu, a defensive style. Initially meets Lars after Lars burns himself out while clobbering training dummies.dummies, but discovers Jani later the same day after her reckless use of a transfer orb lands her unconscious. Unlike most Pangoro, he smooths out his fur on a daily basis.

* HiddenDepths: Despite being of a species with a high attack stat and a berserker mentality, Mitsu specializes in defensive techniques and is beyond calm.
* MeaningfulName: Somewhat of a joke name -- while his creator was going for a believable Japanese-sounding name, it's actually a play on mitsukatta, meaning "found". The NPC was originally created to find and train Jani after she used the Transfer Orb.
* OldMaster: Or middle-aged, anyway. He's the current top inheritor of his dojo, regardless.
