* ReincarnationRomance: Deconstructed. As the only one of the duo with most of his memories intact, Edred wants to reawaken Melinda so the two can continue their romance and fight the Evil. But reincarnating into the body of a hormone-addled young man, combined with his natural MrViceGuy personality, leads Edred to pull some pretty stupid stunts to force Melinda back to the surface. Among them being leaving her to almost die in a fight he could have handled, abandon Emma's fiancé Winton at sea to remove the "competition", and essentially bully Emma into relinquishing control while unjustly blaming her for things going wrong. All this does is push Melinda away from Edred because she grows to care for Emma as her host, [[spoiler:to the point their FusionDance self grows closer to Winton because he treats both Melinda and Emma with kindness and patience.]]

But being reincarnated in the body of a hormone-addled young man leads Edred to pull some pretty stupid stunts to force Melinda back to the surface, such as leaving her to almost die in a fight he could have handled. Coupled with his GreenEyedMonster attitude towards Winton and refusal to consider Emma her own person, he ultimately pushes Melinda away. [[spoiler:Melinda eventually bonds with Emma to the point of a FusionDance and both are drawn to Winton for his kindly patience with their new self, temporarily ending the romance with Edred for the current reincarnation cycle.]]

* ReincarnationRomance: Deconstructed. Edred wants to be reunited with Melinda, and is determined to bring her back fully so they can be together. His refusal acknowledge that Emma is her own person beyond Melinda's host pushes her away, insisting the frightened girl is a "problem". Later when Melinda ''does'' become the dominant personality, she is rightfully resentful of how Edred left her, as Emma, alone to deal with the monster ship to try and force her to fully reawaken when he could have helped her. She becomes angry with him again when she learns he stranded Winston at sea out of petty jealousy, [[spoiler:which caused the latter to become a werewolf.]] All of Edred's actions push Melinda away because he does not consider her host body's feelings and personal life.

* MagicalBarefooter: She is a powerful sorceress who DoesNotLikeShoes as evidenced by her feet being bare when she levitates.

* AmbiguousSituation: Her exact relation to the Evil is never fully revealed despite her powers bearing a strong resemblance to it. While her powers use a similar visual effect, a lot about her doesn't match up with other aspects of the Evil established before and after her role in the plot, such as being intelligent and capable of speech, [[spoiler: to being able to enter and interact with the Cosmic Realm unassisted]]. To say nothing of the fact that [[spoiler: defeating her did not release the souls of the heroes from their current hosts]]. [[spoiler:Given that the Evil body surfs into Otto, Merlin and Seng after her defeat, it's possible she was originally just a kitsune who got possessed]].

* AmbiguousSituation: Her exact relation to the Evil is never fully revealed despite her powers bearing a strong resemblance to it. * BeastMan: He takes form similiar to how Rakshasas are depicted in ''TabletopGame/DungeonsAndDragons'', of bipedal tiger man.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Despite his perpetual scowl and the appearance falling in line with depictions of villainous Rakshasas in fiction, this one is a good guy.

** Both before the battle with Otto's robots and with Evil next episode, he and Merlin discuss this trope and admit being ready to die in battle. [[spoiler: His body did die in the first battle, but his spirit exists in Cosmic Realm now.]]

* AmbiguousSituation: Her initial appearance is full of this, as she flip flops between a motherly demeanor towards young Melinda and trying to take her magic by force when her daughter disobeys. Considering there seems to be some kind of monstrous consciousness to Melinda's power that takes her over, she might have had good intentions or learned the hard way that EvilIsNotAToy.

* AndIMustScream: Is entrapped as the core of the Evil and powering its wicked deeds. It's a terrible fate and she begs her daughter to kill her in order to stop it.

* TheChosenWannabe: They prepared and trained their entire lives to be chosen as the next reincarnations of Unicorn only for Copernicus to pick Emma, Alfie and Dimitri instead.

* BigLittleBrother: Zigzagged. Though he appears significantly shorter than Edred (Pre-Reincarnation), he's taller than him after Edred's reincarnation with Dimitri. [[spoiler: He possesses Edred's original body which makes him even more taller than his own older brother.]]

* HeroicSacrifice: Both before the battle with Otto's robots and with Evil next episode, he and Merlin discuss this trope and admit being ready to die in battle. [[spoiler: His body did die in the first battle, but his spirit exists in Cosmic Realm now.]]

On the other side, Emma refuses to help others during battle and comes off as selfish, but is right in pointing out that she wasn't given a choice on the matter, with Melinda's soul being forced upon her. She also points out that there must be another more willing and compatible host among millions of people around the world. [[spoiler:Emma and Melinda eventually come to an understanding after Emma accidentally looking through Melinda's memories, with Emma agreeing to help Melinda fight the evil without having Melinda completely subsume her personality.]]
