* NinetiesAntiHero: He is a bitter, jaded person without a shred of altruism in his body at the start of the film. His "[[WebOriginal/SFDebris rebel without a fuck]] attitude," while definitely a bold choice compared to other films of its era, is often seen as one of the film's major problems, especially since, when it first came out, the trope had already begun to be a bit dated and, with almost the entire film centering around him, the audience gets little relief from him.

* ChronicBackstabbingDisorder: The higher caste drej are constantly plotting to assassinate current Queen so they can become queen themselves. Drej culture fully supports and encourages this becomes it constantly keeps the queen on her toes and keeps her from growing weak and complacent.

* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: While working at a space dock and he was constantly picked on by his alien co-workers because his race is considered an "intergalactic joke".

* DarkAndTroubledPast: As a young boy, Cale witnessed the Earth be destroyed...where his father also died.

* MissingMom: Nothing is known about his mother, although the tie-in novel ''Cale's Story'' by Kevin J. Anderson explains that his mother died when he was three and he had inherited the ring from her, which also belonged to his father.

* AntiVillain: [[spoiler:He's later revealed to have been working with the Drej, the guys responsible for blowing up Earth, the last hope for humanity. From what we can gather from the few hints dropped in the movie Korso might have just lost all hope of being able to beat the Drej and decided to take what he could get. Watching them destroy his planet and allow the human race to slowly die out within fifteen years might explain his actions along with some other possible reasons that happened off screen between the prologue and the start of the movie. He does make a Heel-Face Turn during the climax of the film. Whether its out of remorse, because he had nothing left to lose or both, he did ultimately help save humanity.]]
