* GlassCanon: [[MagikarpPower When properly leveled up and with the right equipment]], she [[spoiler:and Miranda]] can easily tear through bosses and enemies with her late game Dragoon spells. However, her HP and defense growth is absolutely pathetic, meaning she'll likely only be able to take three hits from most bosses at ''most'' before being KO'd.

* CantDropTheHero: The only times Dart isn't around is when Meru and Rose go off in Disc 3, and during the trials on the Moon that Never Sets in Disc 4.

* WorfHadTheFlu: The Divine Dragon is made vulnerable through a combination of the Dragon Block Staff and Lloyd fighting it with the Dragon Buster prior to the party's arrival. And even with those factors in play, it's ''still'' a WakeUpCallBoss.

* ObviouslyEvil: As if his horned helmet and towering frame wasn't indication enough, one of his first scenes involves him knocking some of his guards to their death.

* CelibateHero: For the first two discs,he isn't interested in romance and doesn't respond to Shana's crush. This ends at the end of Disc 2, when he finally reciprocates.

* CrutchCharacter: Rose will pretty much carry the party through Disc 1 until the others catch up with her in Disc 2. However, she remains good until the end, just not quite as invaluable as she was in the beginning.

* PerfectDisguiseTerribleActing: Lenus can magically disguise herself as Princess Emille, but she isn't willing to put the slightest effort into actually acting the part. Consequently, the gentle and loving "Emille" is now crass, rude, uncaring, and openly callous, and only King Zior's complacency keeps her from being unmasked until it's too late.

* GoodWingsEvilWings: Sports batlike wings, apparently wreathed in black smoke and flames.

* DarkChick: She's the only significant female villain in the game.

* BladeOnAStick: He learned how to use the spear from Lavitz.

* HundredPercentAdorationRating: Gentle, kind, and pretty, there isn't one person in-universe who seems to genuinely dislike her. Horrifyingly justified, since it's hinted that [[spoiler: this is the result of her power as the Moon Child, unconsciously influencing people around her to worship her.]]

* {{Foil}}: She's one to both Shana and Miranda. With Shana, both are kind, gentle, and nurturing women who are TheHeart of their respective groups with a HundredPercentAdorationRating, but while with Shirley this was purely the result of her personality, [[spoiler: Shana unknowingly used her power as the Moon Child to influence others.]] With Miranda, both were people who motivated those around them to work hard and protect others, but while Shirley did it with gentleness and kindness, Miranda uses ToughLove with an emphasis on the "tough".

* BerserkButton: Threatening Albert in any way. When he finds out that Albert has been kidnapped, Haschel has to knock Lavitz unconscious in order to prevent him from running off in a bloodthirsty rage. And then he goes absolutely berserk when Lloyd painfully pulls the [[spoiler: Moon Gem]] out of Albert's back, charging him head-on in dragoon form. [[spoiler: It gets him killed.]]
* BladeOnAStick: His weapon is a spear, expanded to a full-blown glaive as a Dragoon.

An impossibly fast swordsman who bests Dart and Haschel in a tournament at the desert city of Lohan and then proceeds to take direct and indirect responsibility for the misfortunes that befall our heroes. The laundry list: killing Lavitz, orchestrating Emperor Doel's strikes against Basil and Shana's initial capture, stealing the Moon Gem from Albert, hiring Lenus (and by proxy the Gehrich Gang) to steal the Moon Dagger, unsealing the Divine Dragon to steal the Moon Mirror AND break one of the ancient Wingly signets through raw power, and nabbing the Divine Dragoon Spirit for good measure. Despite being a Wingly, he claims to do all of this on the orders of Emperor Diaz, the human leader who emerged victorious from the Dragon Campaign 11,000 years ago.

* ChickMagnet: Lenus was head-over-heels for her, while the Third Sacred Sister of Mille Sesseau, Wink, is also fond of him.

* EvilIsNotAToy: [[spoiler:Lloyd]] frees the Divine Dragon in the hopes of controlling it. He fails utterly.

* SpannerInTheWorks: [[spoiler:Lloyd]] intended to use the Divine Dragon to destroy Deningrad[[spoiler:'s Signet Sphere]], but he clearly [[EvilIsNotAToy didn't know what he was getting into]]. The only reason his plan worked was because the dragon attacked Deningrad of its own accord and happens to [[spoiler:Divine Cannon the Signet Sphere]] by ''complete coincidence''; if not for that spot of luck, the BigBad's plan would have been completely and utterly derailed. And this is to say nothing about [[spoiler:Lloyd]] and the heroes meeting up in time to [[EnemyMine stop the rampaging dragon]] -- again, by coincidence -- which nearly gets them all killed. TooPowerfulToLive may apply here.

* EvilIsBurningHot: The Devil himself would tell Fruegel to tone it down.

* BadassesWearBandanas: In her defult form.
* DarkChick: She's the only significant female villain.

* DrowningPit: Her unique Dragoon Magic has her summong a giant square pool around the party which is then filled with water and drowns them for a while.

* TheLadette: Her rough and very un-feminine behavior is what causes suspicion that she's not the real princess.
* LoveMartyr: She loves Lloyd and dies to protect his goals.
* MasterOfDisguise: At least physically, her princess disguise was impenetrable. But she kept her abrasive personality, contrast to the real Princess Emille, who is a very kind and loving woman.

* HeroKiller: Killed Lavitz.

* WellIntentionedExtremist: While manipulating multiple countries, including reigniting a civil war, his overall plan was to renew the world that he (correctly) believes has grown stagnant.

* EasilyForgiven: Rose has killed [[spoiler:countless untold millions of people in order to prevent the Moon Child from bringing about the apocalypse, and Zieg makes sure everyone in the party knows about it at the end of Disc 3.]] Apart from a swordfight with [[spoiler: Dart]] to resolve the pent-up anger, the party very readily forgave Rose for this. [[spoiler: Haschel]] never even brings up the fact that she likely killed [[spoiler: his daughter Claire]]. Rose herself was surprised at this treatment, but everyone accepted that [[ShootTheDog she did what]] [[IDidWhatIHadToDo had to be done]]. And they flat out let her go for it when they realize [[spoiler:killing Shana]] might be for the best.

* AmbiguouslyRelated: It's never confirmed, but heavily implied, and even discussed in the game itself, that [[spoiler:Dart's mother]] may actually be Haschel's daughter, Claire.
