* CharlesAtlasSuperpower: Though being blessed by the goddess of reincarnation certainly helps, most of Will's frankly insane abilities as a fighter are from being raised by three legendary heroes who insisted he take training and schooling seriously. Even as an adult, he doesn't skimp on physical exercise.

* FakeUltimateHero: {{Downplayed|}} - Will ''definitely'' is one hell of a hero, but Bee's songs still embellish about him and Tonio's quiet competency at supplying him wherever his mind leads him to have lead to rumors that he's a huge man and strategical-genius. He even complains about this to Bee once.

Added DiffLines:

* CharlesAtlasSuperpower: Al is a weakling when Will takes him on as his squire, but months of intense physical training by Will and Menel bulks him up considerably to where he can contribute just as well as veteran sellsword Reystov to the battle against Valacirca. He's not at Will's level yet, but neither is anyone else.

!! Vindalfr, Prince of the Iron Country
!!!'''Voiced by:''' Creator/GoShinomiya (Japanese)

The young prince of the dwarves and grandson of King Aurvangr, Al settles in Torch Port with his people in the second year of Will's reign over Beast Woods, and comes to admire the young paladin.
----
* AdaptationNameChange: His nickname is "Al" in the translation of the LightNovel but is given as "Ru" in the anime subtitles and "Lou" in the English dub.
* TheApprentice: Will agrees to take Al on as his squire (translated as thane in the anime) and trains him to fight and to lead the way the Three Heroes taught him.
* FightingForAHomeland: The dwarves were exiled from their homeland in the Iron Country during the ApocalypseHow at the end of the Union Age, though Al was born long after this. After Valacirca begins to awaken, he accompanies Will on his quest to slay the dragon in hopes of bringing his people home from their exile.
* ShelteredAristocrat: Because he's the last survivor of the royal family, the surviving dwarves are heavily overprotective of him and have unintentionally stifled his personal growth. He has to grow a spine and override them just to get the chance at being Will's squire.
* VirtuousCharacterCopy: He's based heavily on Thorin Oakenshield from ''Literature/TheHobbit'': the young prince of [[TheStateless stateless dwarven refugees]] who seeks to reclaim their mountain home lost to a dragon long ago. Unlike Thorin, though, [[spoiler:he doesn't succumb to gold-lust and start picking fights with his allies after Valacirca is defeated, and survives past the end of ''The Lord of the Rust Mountains'' to become King of the Iron Country]].

** During Will's martial training, Blood points out that special techniques are fine and all but a powerful physique is always an advantage.
