That said, he's also the one who made the cardboard toys Isaac plays with, which are... mature, disturbing, and grotesque, to say the least. Certainly not appropriate for a five-year old to play with.]]

->Debut: Afterbirth+
A mysterious new character who debuted in Afterbirth+ and was unlocked by default prior to an update in which they are unlocked by killing Mega Satan for the first time. He starts with the new Void item, which destroys and copies the effects of activated items while turning passive ones into random stat boosts. Apollyon is the Greek name of (and he therefore represents) Abaddon, the angel of destruction and the abyss in Revelations, the last book of the Bible.

A character unlocked by the efforts of the community in the Afterbirth ARG, Keeper is the corpse of Isaac that kills himself by hanging. He becomes playable by donating 1000 coins to the Greed Machine. His name refers both to the shopkeepers he resembles and to Cain's words in the book of Genesis, "Am I my brother's Keeper?" He starts with a triple shot, is healed by pennies, and cannot pick up hearts. Hearts he is given become Blue Flies.

** Instead of hearts, Keeper has two coin slots (and can only have a maximum of two); any kind of damage takes a health coin (which still counts as red heart damage for the purposes of Devil/Angel Room generation), but taking another coin on the floor heals it back without increasing your coin count. This means that Curse Rooms (without Holy Mantle) and two-heart Devil deals will straight-up kill him, while one-heart Devil deals leave him as a OneHitPointWonder. All health increasing items are worthless unless you've lost one coin slot already. He also can't take soul or black hearts, as they get converted into flies.

The only downside is that doing so decreases the money available to buy pickups and items. This extends to Ultra Greed's battle; since his attacks make you drop coins on contact, you just keep getting health back, and since Ultra Greedier attacks generate coins during the fight, you'll never run out short of gross incompetence.

** LethalJokeCharacter: Since his health can only be composed entirely of soul and black hearts, he can exploit certain health-based mechanics (such as the Whore of Babylon, which is permanent if picked up), leading to quite a few potential and powerful combos. He also has permanent access to Devil and Angel Rooms, snce since he's not taking red heart damage.

* MechanicallyUnusualClass: Tamer than later examples, but his restriction on hearts makes quite a few items work very differently for him as noted. Most health ups are bad, but anything that gives soul hearts is exponentially more powerful.

** In Wrath of the Lamb, Bloody Lust makes Samson powerful... if you manage to survive the hordes of enemies that give him his strength. Only having a single heart (later a soul heart as well) makes that easier said than done.

Added DiffLines:

!The Legend of Bumbo

!!Loaf
* BadBoss: He'll stomp across the battlefield, crushing and killing his own mooks without any regard.
* FlunkyBoss: Spawns Dips and Corn Dips.
* TalkingPoo: Well, he doesn't talk, but he's a giant monsterous humanoid poo.
* ToiletHumor: A poop-themed enemy named Loaf. Definitely something to expect in a Binding of Isaac installment.
!!The Duke
* SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute: He's this game's version of The Duke of Flies, even boiling down to having almost the same name. Although, unlike his predecessor, he shoots out bullets.
* FlunkyBoss: Just like The Duke of Flies, he'll spawn flies between attacks.
!!Peeper
* EyeScream: His eyes are detatched from his body and you can hit it to make it switch lanes.
* Expy: He's pretty much a skinny version of The Bloat, whilst also borrowing Peep's name. Although he lacks the brimstone lasers and jump attack, his eyes are always detatched and he shoots out bullets.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: If one of his eyes turn red, that means it's about to attack you.
!!Shy Gals
* TheDividual: There's three of them, though you only have to defeat one to defeat them all.
* CreepyTwins: Well, Creepy Triplets.
* Expy: Of Shy Guys. They also bear some similarities to Mask of Infamy.
* SameSexTriplets: They're all referred to as girls.
* WhiteMaskOfDoom: Which protects them, unless you manage to knock it off.
!!Dusk
* SpeedBlitz: He has quite a bit of movement points, starting at the end of the room and being able to move all the way up and attack you in one whole turn. Be prepared to protect (or heal yourself) when fighting him.
!!Gibs
* BlobMonster: A giant cube of green slime containing organs.
* DemBones: Among the organs suspended in its body include some bones and a skull serving as its face.
* FlunkyBoss: Spawns small goo enemies.
* SicklyGreenGlow: It appears to be glowing, although it's most likely light reflecting through it.
!!Gizzarda
* DemBones: A skull and some bones inside some weird rotting purple goop...
* FlunkyBoss: Spawns flies.
* MightyGlacier: She only has one movement point, but has high health and can resist certain attacks each turn.
!!Sangre
* AttackItsWeakPoint: The red, glowing heart within its ribcage, which has to be exposed in order for you to hurt it.
* DemBones: It's a floating skeleton with a heart.
!!Pyre
* FlamingSkulls: It's one giant flaming skull that glows different colors.
* PuzzleBoss: You must match tiles based on the color of its fire.
!!Bygone
* FlunkyBoss: Spawns flies.
* OurGhostsAreDifferent: The ghost that spawns during its second phases, which bears a resemblance to The Lost.
