The 35th season of ''The Amazing Race'' was a return to form as COVID restrictions were lifted, with teams boarding commercial flights again, as well as the return of the Express Pass and the U-Turn, the latter which was a private vote held before the beginning of the leg it appeared this time. As a side note, this is the first season of the original American version of ''The Amazing Race'' where the final three teams were all males.

The 35th season of ''The Amazing Race'' was a return to form as COVID restrictions were lifted, with teams boarding commercial flights again, as well as the return of the Express Pass and the U-Turn, the latter which was a private vote held before the beginning of the leg it appeared this time. Deaf father and his son from Riverside, California and New York City. Despite Rob being out of shape, the two were a permanent fixture for the top of the pack due to their excellent communication and determination. In the finale, they came up with the strategy of going to the furthest location first and gradually working back believing it would get them to the final task faster. Rob struggled more than any racer on the trapeze task, but they were still second over Greg & John. While they left the glassblowing in last place, what really killed them was when they read the exit number wrong accidentally using exit 175 over 157 consigning them to a 3rd place finish.

* TheAce: Rob mows through most Roadblocks as well as or better than other racers, even with his status of being InspirationallyDisadvantaged. They also place higher in the Race when Rob does Roadblocks - when Corey does some to even things out (most notably the pot balancing/dancing task, where he struggled), he causes them to drop a few places.

* FailedASpotCheck : In Leg 8, they completely overlooked the fact that the Express Pass they were going for was already taken, costing them valuable time, and if they had gone back down the stairs normally instead of being allowed to zipline, they would have been eliminated over Morgan & Lena.

* [[LastOfHisKind Last Of Her Kind]]: Anna Leigh entered the penultimate leg as the last remaining female racer. Unlike previous seasons with this scenario, Anna Leigh couldn't avoid elimination in the Final 4.

* [[ReadTheFreakingManual Read The Freaking Clue]]: In Leg 6, they were told at the Bricks Detour that they did not fully complete the Bundle side because after delivering the flowers to the temple, they didn't return their receipts to the vendor and went straight for the other Detour.

* TrueCompanions: After Malaina's ex cheated on her during the COVID pandemic, Andrea stood by her.

Brothers from Cheyenne, Wyoming. They stayed in the back for most of their time on the show and this would spell their doom in the second India leg, coupled with getting a rickshaw driver who was not only slow, but also got them lost, with them also struggling to find one of the locations they needed to visit and, even though Liam was able to blaze through the roadblock, it wasn't enough to save them from getting eliminated in 9th place.

* AscendedFanboy: Both wanted to be on the race before they met each other.

* AscendedFanboy: Both of them admitted that being on the race was a dream come true.

* ShoutOut: Todd was loudly telling Ashlie to [[{{Series/Friends}} PIVOT!]] while negotiating the mattresses up the tight staircase.

Childhood friends from Kirkland and Shoreline Washington. The duo faded in the background early on due to two 11th place finishes. In the megaleg, they took the spotlight by refusing to help any teams, telling the cameras they want to win, then winning that leg, which is a mentality that hadn't been seen since pre-COVID. After that, their opportunistic nature and tenacity took the mantle making them one of the biggest characters of the season making them contentious among both fans and players. Despite several close calls, the second half of Slovenia proved to be their undoing when Chelsea missed the rolling pin in the wooden utensil Roadblock. Robbin was just as responsible when she ignored Chelsea's good advice that the cavern might be near the campsite, putting them so far behind that they never saw another team despite Todd & Ashlie repeatedly getting lost and Rob & Corey switching detours, sending them home in 6th place.

Best friends from Kuna and Meridian, Idaho. Despite their age and physique, they were able to outlast the stronger teams by keeping their composure under the stress of the season. They spent the majority of the final leg in first and seemed to be on their way to an easy victory. Despite arriving at the memory task first, they struggled more than any team when they mixed up two similar Roadblock clues. They repeatedly glossed over this error and instead focused their attention on fixing menial things like the Detour order or boat position of the previous leg where there were two Roadbocks and no Detour. Despite there being three spaces on the rack, they spent so much time finding the mistake, Greg & John passed them forcing them to settle for 2nd place.

Brothers & Computer Scientists from New York City and Mountain View, California. Aside from two 8th places finishes, their athleticism, intelligence, and calm attitudes resulted in them placing in the top three the other legs, eight of which were top two finishes, and winning four consecutive legs. They were the favorites going into the final leg, but botching the glass blowing task and struggles finding the top box to the amp put them in last place for the majority of the leg. They were able to catch up to Joel & Garrett when their athleticism resulted them beating the trapeze task faster than any team. Despite Joe & Garret having a huge lead on them going into the memory task, their great memory of the race resulted in them making no mistakes and beating the final task on the first try, giving them the lead they needed to jump to first and win the million dollars.

** They chose to treat the mural Detour like a computer program, saying (after they failed the first time) they were going to "debug" it while other teams struggled with it. This leads to a second place finish for them and their highest placement in the Race up to that point.
* ChekhovsSkill: One of the brothers learnt sign language online and used this to communicate with Rob and Corey, much to Rob's surprise. However he wasn't perfect at it, as proven in Slovenia when he tried to sign "Anna Leigh and Steve" and just went "Howdy, Texas!" instead.

* GenreSavvy: At the lotus tying Roadblock, Greg tied one bundle and used his first one as a reference for the second if the first passed. He also listened to everyone else's feedback and incorporated it into his bundles, something not all the Roadblock completers did (either because they were too focused on doing the task or because certain teams had the lead).
* MiracleRally: Throughout the final leg, Greg and John struggled with the Seattle Scramble when they failed the glass blowing challenge for an hour and finished the grunge band roadie challenge in last. The Brothers entered the final challenge way behind Joel and Garret when the Beard Bros were on the verge of finishing the challenge. However, due to the Beard Bros not being able to correctly switch two Roadblock Questions due to being air related, Greg and John caught up and finished the challenge on their 1st try thus earning them the win.

In Leg 11, Steve and Anna Leigh travelled to Dublin which had two Roadblocks. However, due to Anna Leigh completing six Roadblocks, Steve had to perform both. Steve's age and shape was the biggest weakness for the team and it showed early on when Steve had trouble swimming to a buoy as well as performing the Riverdance Roadblock. Their fate was sealed when Anna Leigh struggled to navigate through the streets of Dublin, thus their run came to an end as Steve and Anna Leigh were the final team to be eliminated earning them a 4th place finish.

* DownToTheLastPlay: They beat Morgan & Lena in a footrace for last in Leg 8.

* UnexpectedlyObscureAnswer: Inverted. When asked what team they compare themselves to, they said that they are ''not'' [[Characters/TheAmazingRace4 Millie & Chuck]]. Most teams compared themselves to someone the past five seasons.

* MercyKill: Andrea and Malaina got lost for hours upon arriving in Germany, boarded the wrong ferry, and got the wrong coins. When they arrived in Cologne, the carnival that the other teams went to was over. Instead, Phil was at the carnival where he proceeded to eliminated Andrea and Malaina.
* NoSenseOfDirection: They got hopelessly lost as soon as they had to drive themselves in Germany. First, they went to the wrong ferry and managed to get even more lost from there. A woman who gave them directions told them they were 30 kilometers away from where they needed to be at one point.

* OppositesAttract: Ian is very easy going while Joe is extremely high strung.
* SoLastSeason: Their lack of ambition of the course would not have killed them if this was say Characters/TheAmazingRace33, but not having the fortune of no equalizers, a far more competitive cast, and harder tasks shows that with the normal format back, trying to effortlessly coast isn't going to work anymore.

* MarriedToTheJob: Both of them admit to having this problem, to the point where it's bled into their home life as well.
* OppositesAttract: Victor is more outgoing while Jocelyn is more quiet.

* ParentChildTeam: One of three this season and the only all female one.

* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: They get this behind Jocelyn and Victor early on, then to Greg and John in leg 6.

* TheGenericGuy: Downplayed. Rob being deaf definitely puts him far from generic, but most of their screentime is spent giving narration of what's going on.

** At the Paper Detour in Leg 3, they agreed to make an extra rice paper just in case one was wrong. This worked in their favor, as one of the rice papers didn't pass approval, and allowed the extra paper to help them finish the task.
** They admitted that they had Rob due more of the early roadblocks because they knew the later ones would be much more physically inclined and Rob, with his age, might struggle on them. This paid off big time in the penultimate leg where there were two very physically inclined roadblocks that Corey was able to breeze through, netting them their first leg win and securing their spot in the finals.
* HandicappedBadass: Rob, in spite of being deaf, can keep up just as well as everyone else, to the point where he was one of two people who was able to solve the word scramble on the first leg by themselves.
* IdiotBall: Corey telling Anna Leigh point blank that he U-Turned her and Steve.
* ParentChildTeam: One of three this season and the only all male one.
* SilentSnarker: Rob is prone to {{Aside Glance}}s quite often, which is best shown during the Spa Day detour.
* YouHaveGotToBeKiddingMe: Said almost word for word by Rob upon realizing that, after he and Corey already climbed a long flight of stairs for the Express Pass, they have to climb ''another'' set of stairs in order to get the leg's final clue.

** They admitted that they had Rob due more of the early roadblocks because they knew the later ones would be much more physically inclined and Rob, with his age, might struggle on them. This paid off big time in the penultimate where there were two very physically inclined roadblocks that Corey was able to breeze through, netting them their first leg win and securing their spot in the finals.

* GenreSavvy: At the Paper Detour in Leg 3, they agreed to make an extra rice paper just in case one was wrong. This worked in their favor, as one of the rice papers didn't pass approval, and allowed the extra paper to help them finish the task.

Sisters from Brooklyn, New York and Los Angeles, California. Despite showing a lot of ambition, they had a tendency to get comfortable too easily, which would result in infighting between the sisters and making impulsive decisions when faced with adversity. Because of this they bounced around the rankings quite a bit, but seemed to be safe in Slovenia due to Steve and Anna Leigh falling behind as well as missing that the express pass was already taken, but due to some poor navigation, the Father/Daughter team was able to overtake them in the footrace to the matt, taking the sisters out of the race in 7th place.

** Another flaw that began to pop up was Steve's age, as it prevented him from keeping up in foot races with the other team, with him and Anna Leigh dropping from a possible second to fourth in leg 10 because of it.

* LastOfHisKind: Anna Leigh entered the penultimate leg as the last remaining female racer. Unlike previous seasons with this scenarios, Anna Leigh couldn't avoid elimination in the Final 4.

Father and daughter from Petty and Royse City, Texas.

College friends from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They started the race in the back of the pack, but slowly picked up speed until several mistakes added up in Germany. Upon entering Germany, Andrea and Malaina got lost when they had to travel to the ferry. To make things worse, the two friends boarded the wrong ferry and made the currency exchange with the wrong man. When they arrived at the coin puzzle Roadblock, they realized that they didn't have the right coins and had to go back to the other side to look for the right ferry. Andrea and Malaina were so far behind, that by the time they arrived at the carnival in Cologne, the party was over and Phil proceeded to eliminate them in 8th place at the halfway point of the leg.

* FarmersDaughter: Between her name and overall appearance, Anna Leigh fits this trope quite well. However, she is a [[JackOfAllTrades podcaster, influencer, speech pathologist and flight attendant]], which are not professions one would normally associate with a person like this.

Their end would begin in leg 9 after getting lost repeatedly, with only Robbin and Chelsea repeatedly [[FailedASpotCheck failing spot checks]] saving them. The next leg, located in Stockholm, sealed their fate as, in spite of the leg beginning with an equalizer, Ashlie taking far longer to finish the Roadblock than the other teams, along with Rob and Corey and Steve and Anna Leigh working together mixed Greg and John's strength and Joel and Garret catching a series of lucky breaks, ended their run in 5th place.
