[[spoiler:Played straight in ''8'' where Lars not only becomes his CoolUncle alongside Lee, but serves as TheLancer during the story, even calling Jin his "Trump Card". By the finale, his forgiveness ends up earned for the most part, as even though Jin ''did'' start the war, he took responsibility and saw things through until the war's end, where circumstances had ultimately resulted in Kazuya and G Corporation turning out to be much more evil than he ever was as head of the Zaibatsu.]]

* EarnYourHappyEnding: After enduring loss, betrayal, rage, pain, and a series of seemingly endless battles, it's safe to say that Jin really earned this trope. [[spoiler: He manages to make peace with his literal inner devil, who revealed itself to only wanting to help Jin accomplish his goals. He decides to let go of his hatred towards his father and spares him and is able to erase the Devil gene within him and his father. And, while he's still not done undoing the damage he brought onto the world, he has no qualms doing so. With his new allies supporting him and his mother confirmed to be alive and well, Jin is in a lot better headspace than ever before.]]

* WhatIfTheBabyIsLikeMe: Another reason why he couldn't form a true relationship with Xiaoyu for fear of their possible children inheriting the Devil Gane, if not the cruelty, callousness, sociopathy, and miserly behavior from Jin's forefathers. And what we've seen from Kazumi and [[spoiler: Reina]], the womenfolk aren't that ''much better'' either.

* TheHero: Zigzagged. Jin has gone through quite a journey throughout the franchise, being labeled as an AntiHero, VillainProtagonist, and even a NominalHero. But by the time he's in ''Tekken 8'', he's decided to take accountability for his crimes, made peace with his former enemies, and has even lost his DeathSeeker attitude as well as his desire to kill his father. Instead, he chooses to live for a better future for himself and his loved ones.

He gains the power and versatility of the Mishima style, the agility and defensive capabilities of the Kazama style, and the straightforwardness of traditional Okinawan karate to tie the two styles together even further.]]

* RedemptionDemotion: [[spoiler: He fully cements his role as hero in ''8'', which incidentally coincides with him losing the Devil Gene alongside Kazuya by the end. However, it's ultimately zig-zagged in that, while Jin has lost the powers of a demi-god, as a human combatant, he's arguably now the ''strongest'', thanks to a mix of combining every technique he's learned over the years into the ultimate fighting style and just possessing the raw determination to never yield no matter how much he gets beaten.]]

* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler:As an extension for Jin, Jin change affects him as well. He's portrayed as a SuperpoweredEvilSide for most of the franchise, with every what-if scenario starring him presenting him as a pure villain, and in ''8'', it's revealed that the evil he seems to represent is a symptom of Jin's anger and hatred and continued rejection of the Devil Gene. When Jin lets go of his hatred and comes to terms with the fact that the Devil Gene is just an extension of himself, Devil Jin also gradually loses his psychotic traits.]]

Although Devil Jin as a separate persona from Jin has not appeared canonically in the series, with his playable appearances being a "what-if" scenario of how Jin views his Devil form in his mind, he is set to finally become a plot-important character in ''8''.

Jin being consumed by anger and hatred made Devil Jin an aggressive, destructive, and homicidal being. Jin being in denial about his self and past puts him at odds with his devil self in controlling his body, and his devil self calls Jin out of his rejection, and Jin's change and growth seem to affect him as well, with him becoming more noble after Jin lets go of his vengeance and desires to protect, as well as being able to fully control his devil form.]]

* EnemyWithin: By ''8'', Devil Jin has become powerful enough to exist as his own fully-formed separate personality within Jin's mind, given form by all of Jin's own fears about being consumed by the power of the Devil Gene, and now he wants total control over Jin's body.
