* CasanovaWannabe: He really only cares about human lives if there is a girl involved. This is best exemplified in Episode 5 when he makes pinata jokes about a ''hanging a man with a sword through his chest'' before learning of the deceased having a beautiful girlfriend after which he is determined to find the killer. Naturally, any of his attempts to impress women is overshadowed by ego and PsychopathicManchild tendencies.

* DrivenToSuicide: Here, Keita knew about Kirito's levels, but still jumps to his death. Not because Sachi (and two of the three NPC members) died, but because he rather not face an in game mafia for failing to duplicate a Rare Item.

* RagtagBunchOfMisfits: Keita is a cheater using glitches and exploits to fund the guild by using duplication glitches on rare items, Sachi has terrible internet connection and lags at all the wrong times, and the NPCs suck at path finding, fighting, obeying orders, and will randomly get stuck in walls.

!General Tropes:
* ArtificialStupidity: The AI party members... aren't exactly the greatest. Granted, all of them are from low level quest, one of them being the ''Tutorial'' NPC

!Sachi
* MoralityChain: To Kirito. She's the one who convinces him to try and act nicer, and be more helpful. [[spoiler: Her death, and final words "Not your fault" becomes Kirito's PTSD {{Trigger}} into helping others out despite his attempts not to do so.]]

* PsychopathicManchild: He tries to aloof when he's around other people but he starves for attention and easily breaks into emotional fits when other people insult him. Many episodes start with someone asking for him help, him acting smug which turns away the player, and then him forcing himself into the situation just so he can be around other people.

* HopelessWithTech: She doesn't even know how to open the menu, which is literally a matter of life or death given that most of the interactions within SAO are done through the menu. How she managed to survive the first month is nothing short of a miracle, and the ending of episode two shows she still has no idea how to open the damn thing. Also, while she is a competent fighter and strategist, she obviously hasn't played MMOs before, having no idea what "XP" stands for, and thinking that "DPS" has something to do with sex.

* EmbarrassingNickname: For some reason, named his character ''Tiffany''. No specific reason has been given, so it's not known if it was because his original character model was playing up the {{GIRL}} trope, or if he just chose it because [[ItAmusedMe it amused him]]. He doesn't mind it would seem, but does like using it to confuse the hell out of others so that he can gain the floor to talk.

It is surprising to the point Asuna is completely baffled when Kirito says he did nothing but draw on her face when she was asleep and asks what else he would do in this situation.
