He has an [[AllLoveIsUnrequited crush]] on Chloe who is aware of it but prefers to be JustFriends. He gets a new girlfriend Gin of the Lucian Alliance, and one episode after hooking up it looks like she's [[StuffedIntoTheFridge corpsified]]. Not been a great trip for poor Eli.

And really, its not like Young is any better considering he almost sacrificed Chloe and Rush for the "Greater Good."

** Considering if anything happens to Destiny everyone on board could die, sacrificing one or two people isn't really that bad. The very type of hard decisions that Colonel Young has been accused of being unable to make.

* TokenEvilTeammate: While not really evil, Rush is [[TheUnfettered quite willing to sacrifice people for the greater good]]. Or what he considers the greater good anyway. Others might describe it as "his own convenience". He plays it much closer in the second season. [[spoiler:Over the course of three episodes since he found the bridge, he's gotten two people killed/stranded and is blackmailing Chloe into helping him by hiding the fact that she isn't cured of her mind-altering alien infection.]]
