Voice Acting Managers in general are tasked in pitching their talents to recording studios they are assigned to, grab as many auditioning cases for their agency as much as possible, and scheduling their talents' cases. Managers are not responsible for babysitting a certain selected group of talents, but whichever manager receives a case for a talent, that manager has the duty to serve as the middleman between the recording studio and the voice actor.

Futaba is TheProtagonist of our story. She is a NewMeat voice actress attempting to break into the industry out of pure interest in the challenging environment the industry provides. Like all ordinary people, she grows up watching anime, but did not went deep into becoming an Otaku, leaving her at a grave disadvantage in industry knowledge and radio show hosting flexibility compared to her colleagues. Add her lack of on-stage performing arts training, she has to overcome her stage fright and poor dancing skills as an IdolSinger.

Futaba plays alongside Shiraishi in the anime, Western Detective. Just a few days into work, Futaba overworked herself and caught a cold, which can potentially be damaging to her career. Unlike most voice over production outside of Japan, Japanese voice actors hired to do animation work has to act together to make the best time management usage for their anime production. Having just one voice actor, especially a principal actor, absent for a certain amount of time can be a huge aggravation to the whole production team. Yet unlike the high-profile actors, who has greater chances to be immune from switch-offs thanks to their experience and popularity, new meats like Futaba has the highest chance to be laid off, since they are mostly unknown playing minor roles and can be replaced very easily. Upon meeting up with Futaba since her absence, Shiraishi actively approached her to generously provide Futaba her bag of cough drops she takes with her everywhere she goes.
