Aside from the [[DumbMuscle obviously moronic]] Knuckles and the obviously immature [[SuperSpeedster Sonic]], the so-called smart characters who make themselves seem sensible & whatnot such as [[ScienceHero Tails]] & [[TheChick Amy]] in Season 1 of the show were also lacking common sense in situations, much to the point that Eggman once pointed this out in the episode "Multi-Tails".

As is fitting for a team named after him, Sonic is the spearhead of the bunch. He may have a smart remark for many occasions and tends to be a bit egotistical, but he's always willing to use his superhuman speed and signature Spin Attacks to lead his friends into battle and protect the innocent from evil of all kinds.
