Xing Tian is a Guardian-type God, emphasising on staying in the fight longer than almost anybody thanks to his passive, ''Smouldering Rage'', which grants him stacking bonus HP regeneration for 18 seconds every time he hits an enemy with an ability. His first ability, ''Furious Roar'', has him [[MakeMeWannaShout bellow from his chest with great force]], damaging enemies as well as debuffing their basic attack damage, in addition to making them lose [[PercentDamgeAttack 2.5% of their maximum health every second]] of the debuff's duration. His second ability, ''Hook Slam'', has him launch his opponents into the air with his axe before slamming them down, rooting them. His third ability, ''Sky-Cutting Axe'', causes him to leap forward, damaging enemies where he lands. Xing Tian has increased protections during the leap, which are refreshed if he connects with a target. He may make a second leap within 2 seconds or cancel into another ability after the first leap. His ultimate, ''WhirlwindOfRageAndSteel'', has him swing his axe around him three times, each swing doing successive heavy damage, catching Gods hit before throwing them away.

Hear the legends of the headless warrior from the East, for they are not tales of a murderous monster, but a man that would not be undone by defeat or even death.

Long ago, three Emperors warred for supremacy of a young nation. Barely clinging to dominance, the Flame Emperor deployed
his head after trying greatest general, the warrior-poet Xing Tian. Tirelessly he battled the other would-be Emperors but their numbers were too great; their weapons too sharp. Xing Tian returned to his lord in defeat but with his spirit unbroken. He begged to ride out and meet the enemy once more, but the Flame Emperor refused. His reign was over; his life forfeit to the Yellow Emperor.

Unwilling to give in despite the loss of his lord, Xing Tian rallied the Flame Army for a final siege of the Yellow Emperor's Sky Palace. While the soldiers crashed around them, Xing Tian met the Yellow Emperor in single combat, the two titans trading blows up the upon the mountaintop. High upon the snow-capped peak, the Yellow Emperor's blade struck true, beheading Xing Tian.

Was it days that passed, or years? It is unknown, but there, at the base of the mountain, Xing Tian awoke. A new face burned from his chest. The fire to battle renewed, the now headless Xing Tian rose
to fight against the Supreme Divinity. Now uses his torso again.

For Xing Tian there is no defeat; there is no death. As long
as a face and determined to continue fighting. Datamining indicates that he there is intended a battle to be fought he will never surrender. And he will never die.

Xing Tian is
a Guardian.

As a man, Guan Yu was the embodiment of loyalty, honor, and strength. As a God, he is a guardian of justice, a hero to the downtrodden, the Saint of War.

In the ancient times of the East, [[Literature/RomanceOfTheThreeKingdoms a great war between Three Kingdoms raged]]. The warlord Liu Bei, and his friends, Zheng Fei, and the mighty Guan Yu swore an oath of brotherhood in a mystical peach garden, vowing to create a new, righteous world. Together, they fought countless battles against the warlords Cao Cao and Sun Quan, and Guan Yu grew famous for his combat prowess and unwavering honor.

During the war, Cao Cao captured Guan Yu. At the time, Liu Bei’s fate was uncertain, so he agreed to fight for Cao Cao under specific terms, chiefly that he would abandon Cao Cao if ever he learned the whereabouts of his sworn brother. Despite Cao Cao’s gifts and promises of wealth, when Liu Bei resurfaced, Guan Yu immediately went to his side. Years later, Guan Yu again faced Cao Cao on the battlefield as the warlord fled from his defeat at Red Cliffs. Guan Yu cut off Cao Cao’s retreat and obliterated his forces. Cao Cao, however, he spared and released, as a matter of honor.

After his death, Guan Yu’s spirit remained at a holy shrine, coming to the aid of nearby villagers in need, battling the cruel and selfish. From all over the East, worshippers came to the shrine and burned incense to honor him. Such popularity led to Faith, and thus Guan Yu was raised as a God, deified a few hundred years later.

Now, he embodies the virtues he lived by. His statues, wielding a massive guan dao, ward against evil. Red faced to represent loyalty, his likeness is carried by merchants as proof they can be trusted. If their cause is just, he leads armies to victory. Among the Gods of any Pantheon, there are few as deadly and none as righteous as Guan Yu.

Guan Yu is a warrior-type God with great sustain that allows him to play a support role, but also augmented with good mobility and devastating abilities that will tear down the enemy ranks. His passive, ''Painless'', stores up a force of will every time he takes damage, which will in turn, increase the healing effects of his first ability, ''Conviction'', where Guan Yu infects surrounding allies with his courageous leadership, healing them for a fair amount. In addition, if Guan Yu heals allied gods, he is rewarded with a small cooldown reduction. With his second ability, ''Warrior's Will'', Guan Yu dashes forward in a short line with his Green Dragon Crescent Blade out, damaging and slowing any enemies in his path. If an enemy God was hit, Guan Yu will have his cooldowns reduced. With his third ability, ''Taolu Assault'', Guan Yu spins his Green Dragon Crescent Blade, dealing damage in an area in front of him, also tearing up his victims' armor, while increasing his own and being unaffected with knockback. His ultimate ability, ''Cavalry Charge'', has him ride his war horse, Red Hare, which forces him to charge forward for 4 seconds and be unaffected with crowd controls. Guan Yu can steer Red Hare to any direction or even slow down, and attacking up to four times, damaging and slowing all struck enemies, with repeated hits on the same target dealing increasing damage. After four seconds (or at any time earlier if he chooses), Guan Yu dismounts from Red Hare by leaping and delivering a spinning slash that will stun enemies in a circular area where he dismounted.
----
* AscendedToAHigherPlaneOfExistence: After his death, the people's belief in him turned to Faith, which granted him godhood.
* BadassBeard: Guan Yu has an impressive beard and mustache, with some sides on his chin being hairless making it resemble a van dyke turned UpToEleven.
** In real life Guan Yu was known for his beard to the point that Cao Cao gave him a beard bag to protect it. He actually held the title [[UpToEleven "The Man With the Beautiful Beard"]]...
* BadassNormal: By standards of the deities in Smite, most of the characters have some sort of innate divinity since birth or has fancy powers. * BladeOnAStick: The legendary Green Dragon.
* CloseRangeCombatant: One of the few Gods that can't do anything to an enemy that isn't right next to them.
* CombatMedic: With his first ability. While it doesn't heal as big, Guan Yu is still encouraged to constantly heal his allies because it grants him cooldown reduction, which helps him whip out more skills in a quicker time and heal even more, ''especially'' with cooldown reduction items.
* {{Determinator}}: His passive, Painless, causes his ability Conviction to heal for up to double the effect from being damaged up to 20 times.
* FingerWag: His taunt animation.
* ForGreatJustice: Guan Yu is one of the more benevolent WarGod in the game, righteous and more on the side of 'trusting and protecting humanity' rather than 'subjugate humanity' according to his lore. He is aware that there will be a new age, however...
-->''"[[BadassBoast A new age is at hand... and there is no place for evil there]]"''
* HealingHands: It's not even his hands, the tooltip describes it as from his "tranquil leadership" being "infectious".
* JackOfAllStats: With a dash, an AOE heal, protection buffs from his Taolu Assault (his Conviction ability used to grant them as well), and powerful CC on his ultimate, Guan Yu has a little bit of everything. He can play in the solo lane, the jungle, or as a support, with different item builds for each role.
* TheJuggernaut: When using Cavalry Charge, Guan Yu cannot stand still and is forced to move around until the duration ends and no Crowd Control can stop him. He can, however, slow down a bit.
* MountedCombat: His ultimate Cavalry Charge has him go on a horse for its duration to attack enemies around him.
* NoSenseOfHumor: Attempts to make him tell a joke will have him declare war is not a joke and demand you find someone else to bother, or insist you should be training instead of having time for jokes.
** Guan Yu is also one of the few Gods that have his victory/defeat animation as straight as possible. No silliness, no [[ButtMonkey Denton]] participating. It's just Guan Yu making a pose and bowing for victory, or leering like he's heavily wounded for defeat.
* SpinAttack: His Taolu Assault ability has him spin his blade in a circle toward enemies, swapping sides a few times. His old ultimate Tactician's Advantage had him do backward spins prior to each strike, culminating to doing a somersault for the third strike.
* TheStrategist: In his old design- unlike other {{War God}}s, Guan Yu wins by healing his allies through sheer encouraging steadfast leadership and being hardiest while he's around the game's objective structures.
* WarGod: He serves this role in the Chinese pantheon. He's also the God of Martial Arts, Literature and Brotherhood. He's also the patron God of Police Officers.
* WarIsHell: His view on war, which is probably why his jokes exudes NoSenseOfHumor.

Warrior, rebel, trickster, demon, monk, Sun Wukong is known by many titles in the East, yet it was a [[JourneyToTheWest Journey to the West]] that made him a hero.

In his youth, Sun Wukong gained leadership of the monkey tribes, learned secret arts and spells from a Taoist monk, and acquired the legendary Ruyi Jingu Bang from Ao Kuang, a staff that could change size according to his whim. He defied death itself by wiping his name from the Book of Life and Death, and united many of the other monster tribes who sought to ally with him, an act that garnered the attention of the Jade Emperor.

In an effort to better control the Monkey-King, the Jade Emperor awarded him a title, but when Sun Wukong discovered his new position was little more than “stable boy” he grew angry and declared himself “Great Sage, Equal of Heaven,” and waged war on the heavens. For this treasonous act, he was finally captured and imprisoned beneath a mountain for five centuries.

At long last, the humble monk Xuanzang was seeking disciples to protect him while on his legendary Journey to the West to collect the Indian Sutras. Sun Wukong gladly agreed to serve him, but the Buddha wrapped a golden circlet around the Monkey King’s head so that Xuanzang could control him. With three other disciples, they faced eighty one trials during their quest, and collected the sutras. For his service and strength, Sun Wukong was awarded Buddhahood, finally ascending to heaven and gaining immortality.

With an epic battle between Gods taking place, Sun Wukong’s presence is all but assured.

For many months in 2013, he was replaced in-game by Hun Batz, the Howler Monkey God of the Mayans, who shared most of his previous abilities. He later returned as a more fierce warrior-type god.

Sun Wukong is a Warrior-type God. His passive, ''Undefeated Body'', gives him bonus increased protections and critical chance whenever he is below 35%, that start out significant and increase as he levels. His first ability, ''The Magic Cudgel'', makes his weapon grow in length, to be slammed into the ground in front of himself, dealing damage to all enemies in a long line. Sun Wukong's second ability, ''Master's Will'', makes him swing his weapon around, striking all nearby enemies, dealing damage and slowing them. His third ability, ''72 Transformations'', makes him assume one of [[NonIndicativeName three]] shapes - an Ox, which is immune to slow, root and knockup effects, and deals damage and knocks away any enemy it runs through; a Tiger, which is quicker, and mauls the first enemy it encounters, dealing more damage and stunning briefly; or an Eagle, which is immune to slow and root and the fastest of the three forms, but has no offensive potential of its own. All three transformations share a cooldown. Using his ultimate ability, ''Somersault Cloud'', Sun Wukong charges briefly, before leaping onto a cloud, hidden from sight and protected from harm while his health regenerates. When the duration expires or at any time of his choosing, he can leap from the cloud onto a targeted area, smashing into the ground and dealing damage to nearby enemies. In addition, Sun Wukong leaves a decoy of himself when he leaps, which will charge enemies and attempt to fight. If the decoy is killed, Sun Wukong will be revealed but suffer no other ill effects.

----
* AnimeHair: A big blonde spiky hair. Rather fitting considering [[Manga/{{DragonBall}} who]] he ended up becoming the inspiration for.
* {{Badass}}: One of the earliest examples of a ShowyInvincibleHero in literature. Though he's (obviously) not as undefeatable as he is in ''Journey to the West''.
* BadassBeard: Sun Wukong has a sweet, blonde beard.
* CarryABigStick.: His Ruyi Jingu Bang is one of the most well known staves in fiction.
* DarkerAndEdgier: Compare him [[http://rurikhan.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/SmiteSunWukong.jpg before]] and [[http://i.imgur.com/DaB77t2.jpg after]] the remake.
* HitAndRunTactics: A combo for Sun Wukong is to swoop right into the enemy ranks with the Ultimate, unleash everything he got, and then run away with the [[FanNickname Bird of Nope]] (or his ox form, if there are some enemies getting in the way).
* InTheHood: As Dark Lord Sun Wukong.
* ItRunsOnNonsensoleum: His old ultimate was... celebrating the Chinese Year of the Monkey, more often than once every 12 years. Really, that's exactly what it is. It feared enemies for a short time upon entering the celebration and damaged them while inside it.
* JackOfAllStats: Sun Wukong has been seen in both the solo lane and the jungle with his combination of damage, CC and mobility. Since his damage output was substantially nerfed, tends more towards MasterOfNone and is now seen more often as a support.
** Until the Nox patch, which gave him the ability to pull off the solo and jungle roles again, thanks to a buff on The Magic Cudgel.
* PutOnABus: For a large part of 2013, he was replaced by Hun Batz.
** Which is lampshaded in one of his jokes.
--> Sun Wukong: Hah! Hun Batz is an odd fellow! How could anybody mistake him for me?
* {{Shapeshifting}}: One of his abilities lets him turn into an ox (for charging through enemies), a tiger (for chasing down enemies), or an eagle (for running away from enemies).
* ShoutOut: The sound effects on his "Dark Lord" skin [[StarWars sound suspiciously similar to something....]]
** Surprisingly, one of his lines shouts out to a [[ManOfSteel very different film.]]
--> Dark Lord Wukong: You think your wards are safe? [[ChewingtheScenery I WILL FIND THEM!]]
* WeWillMeetAgain: One of his death quotes.
--> Sun Wukong: "This is not over."
* TookALevelInBadass: He has been given a more serious-looking model and his attacks are less festive than before.

[[folder:Ao Kuang, Dragon King of the Eastern Seas]]
[[quoteright:250:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/new_ao_kuang_3295.png]]
[[caption-width-right:250:[[http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/smite.gamepedia.com/2/2f/AoKuang_V2_Intro_1.ogg "Know your enemy, know yourself, and victory will be assured! ... Unless you're fighting a dragon, of course."]]]]

-> '''Voiced by:''' Creator/KentWilliams (old model)

Regal, powerful, the Dragon-God of the Eastern Sea commands storms and tides with the flick of a claw, yet he seethes with rage for past humiliations.

As one of four Dragon-Gods, Ao Kuang demands tribute from those along the Eastern shores. For their worship, tides remain calm, rivers contained, and rainfall for crops plentiful. It was not always like this, however. Long ago, Ao Kuang grew greedy and expected greater sacrifices. When they were not given, he sent floods, tidal waves, and devastating storms, striking so much fear into the people they dared not speak of this violence to the Jade Emperor. Ao Kuang enjoyed his total control.

Then came Sun Wukong to his undersea palace seeking a weapon for his famous journey to the West. Despite the offer of other weapons, Sun Wukong took the Ruyi Jingu Bang, an immense pillar that aided in controlling the tides. It was believed none could even lift it, but Sun Wukong spun it with ease. As if this were not humiliating enough, Sun Wukong demanded other gifts of armor, shoes, and helm, all of which Ao Kuang was forced to supply.

Next, the demigod boy Nezha, playing in a stream, inadvertently shook Ao Kuang's palace. Annoyed, the Dragon-God set forth his favorite scout to kill the child, but Nezha defended himself and the scout was slain. Furious, Ao Kuang ordered his third son to destroy Nezha, yet Nehza slew him as well. Completely outraged, Ao Kuang went to Nezha's father and threatened to take the issue before the Jade Emperor, but Nezha tackled the Dragon-King and forced him to submit.

Such repeated shame and humiliation have both humbled Ao Kuang and tempered his fury to steely resolve. Long has he awaited his chance to rise again and exert dominance as a great Dragon-God of the Sea.

As of September 2014, Ao Kuang was retired from the game, with his powerset moved onto Kulkulkan. Ao has been confirmed to return somewhere at November 2014, with a look and powerset that fits him better.

Ao Kuang is a Mage-type God that dishes out damage at close range, and has the unique ability to go on stealth like an Assassin. His passive, ''King's Sword'', gives him up to 3 charges of energy that enhances his skills' damage and serves as an additional way to cast skills if he's out of mana. The sword recharges when Ao is out of combat. Using his first ability, ''Water Illusion'', Ao Kuang teleports a short distance forward, becoming stealthed and creating a watery copy of himself. The stealth lasts 4s or until Ao attacks or is attacked. He may detonate the illusion at any time, damaging nearby enemies. Ao Kuang's second ability, ''Dragon's Call'', has him summon six dragons to his side, lasting 10s or until used up. One dragon will leap onto any enemy Ao Kuang strikes with his basic attacks; alternately, he may launch all remaining dragons forward, striking the first enemy they encounter. This deals only half the damage of the other use, but applies a slow that scales with the amount of dragons expended. Ao's third ability, ''Wild Storm'', has him unleash a storm of lightning from his sword in a cone area, damaging all enemies struck, as well as applying on-hit effects, including Dragon's Call. Using his Ultimate, ''King of the Eastern Seas'', Ao Kuang picks a single target in close range and knocks the target to the sky. If the target is under a health threshold, Ao Kuang will then transform into a huge, majestic dragon and instantly devour the target. He'll remain in the sky and can choose a place of landing in a wide radius, dealing damage to nearby enemies on landing, with his sword fully recharged.

----
* BadassMoustache: He has a Fu Man Chu stache that upon further examination are a MorphicResonance of his dragon form's whiskers.
* BishonenLine: His rework had him go from a literal dragon to a more humanoid king with dragon themes.
* BlowYouAway: What else do you expect from a god of storms?
* ButtMonkey: Seriously, read that lore up there.
* CatchPhrase: Back in the old model, you will often hear Ao Kuang screaming '''"A MIGHTY STORM!"''' when casting his [=AoE=] spell. This stuck so much that the phrase '''"A MIGHTY (Insert word here)"''' has been associated with Ao Kuang so much that his re-release is rife with this word. As a variation, when casting Wild Storm, he can occasionally scream, '''"A MIGHTY SWORD!"'''
* DeathOfAThousandCuts: How he's designed to hurt, especially if you build items that reduce the little lag he has.
* {{Expy}}: References the practice of Chinese deities being PutOnABus and then replaced by Mayan ones.
-->(To Hun Batz): ''"Why do Mayan immortals always look so familiar?"''
* HumiliationConga: A big victim of this in his lore.
* {{Invisibility}}: Ao Kuang post-rework is also another one who can go invisible on a whim like Loki with Water Illusion. He can use it to sneak around and execute surprise attacks, or execute a lone God with low hit points.
* ImAHumanitarian: His ult is powerful enough to let him eat ''gods'', and he seems to take some pleasure in this.
--> ''Ao Kuang:'' ''Oh, I suppose this is another fine day for a battle! ..I am a bit hungry!''
* LargeHam: Both before and after his rework.
--> Spawning before rework: ''Let's take them...'''BY STORM!'''''
* MagicKnight: After rework, he becomes the second magical melee deity after Freya. Although he plays more like a magical Assassin (or 'Magical Loki' because of his stealth)
* MakingASplash: His old kit averted this, emphasizing the storm aspect of his role. The rework fixed this to an extent, at least with Water Illusion.
* PutOnABus: For a few months, he was replaced by Kukulkan. [[TheBusCameBack He's now back with a brand new model. Even his old voice set comes back if you use Kukulkan's Sacred Dragon skin.]]
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: He is so far the only dragon in the game. Naturally, he follows traits from Chinese Mythology.
--> Pre-rework: ''Breath fire?! [=*sneers*=] Go back to playing D&D in your mother's basement.''
* SadlyMythtaken: The reason for his temporary retirement. Ao is the god of the Eastern ''Sea'', his skillset was based on winds and squalls and had nothing to do with water (the only reasonable comparison being stormy seas). His personality and the lore he shares with Ne Zha and Wukong also seemed to disagree if he was still a proud and cruel dragon king, or if this was after his humiliation. After his rework, he's a bit better about this; while his attacks don't scream "sea", they're decidedly water-based in appearance, and he's more into the proud Dragon King trying to assert his authority after various humiliation. Also another factor, Ao Kuang was known as a humanoid deity with the ability to shapeshift into a dragon, his old model ''locked'' him into the dragon form 24/7. The rework rectified this.
* ScaledUp: If he ults someone within his execute range, Ao will turn into his dragon form, chase them into the sky, and swallow them whole. After, he stays in his dragon form for a time and can dive down wherever he wishes within a certain range.
* ThisCannotBe: One of his death lines in the rework.
-->''I cannot be defeated! Ugh...''
* WhatTheHellHero: After his rework, he can ''finally'' give a piece of his mind for Wukong's theft of that pillar.
-->''"I'm sorry: Did you think you could just walk out of my palace without paying the consequences?!"''
* WizardBeard: Possesses a chinstrip, this was one of his few facial features kept after the relaunch.

[[caption-width-right:250:[[http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/smite.gamepedia.com/0/01/Change_Bunny_Intro_1b.ogg (Jade Rabbit) "You can dance, if you want to!"]]]]

-> '''Voiced by:''' Creator/TrinaNishimura (Chang'e), Ric Spiegel (Jade Rabbit)

Not always born in the crucible of creation, sometimes Gods ascend by tragic happenstance. Such is the tale of Chang’e, Goddess of the Moon.

Among the immortals that lived in the Heavens, Chang’e was the most elegant dancer, like a dove on windswept currents. She drew the affection of the hero archer, Hou Yi, and the two were soon married. Everything was perfect.

Yet, beneath the Heavens, all was not well. Ten suns, the ten children of the Jade Emperor, rose to scorch the earth and boil the seas. Brave Hou Yi, bow in hand, shot nine from the sky, sparing only one. Though the world was saved, the Jade Emperor was furious his children were killed. In punishment, Hou Yi and Chang’e were made mortal.

Chang’e grew melancholy and danced no more. To restore their status in the Heavens, Hou Yi found the Elixir of Immortality, but thieves came to steal it while he was hunting. Chang’e struggled to hide the Elixir, but, in the end, was forced to drink it. Too much for one person, the Elixir gave her immortality, but it also swept her into the sky.

Since then, Chang’e has lived on the moon, forbidden to see her husband, a Jade Rabbit her only companion. Yet, the Earth is once again in peril, and Chang’e finds herself upon the mortal surface. Perhaps, this is a second chance. If only she can save the world without angering the Jade Emperor, she can at last reunite with her husband.

Chang'e is a Mage-type Goddess, lacking in burst damage but providing sustained damage, healing, debuffs, survivability and a powerful ultimate. Her passive, ''Jade Rabbit'', allows Chang'e to access the shop anywhere on the map and send her Jade Rabbit companion to fetch the items she buys for her, not needing to go back to base to buy items. Also, whenever using her abilities, she gains a small movement speed bonus, even if moving backwards. Her first ability, ''Crescent Moon Dance'', damages all opponents in an arc in front of Chang'e with a side-sweeping crescent moon. With her second ability, ''Moonlit Waltz'', Chang'e performs an evasive aerial pirouette, becoming immune to damage for a brief moment. She also restores mana to herself and all nearby allies depending on how much damage she avoided. Her third ability, ''Moonflower Dance'', makes Chang'e twirl, releasing a ring of moonflowers that heals her and all nearby allies while damaging and briefly halving healing effects on all nearby enemies. With her ultimate ability, ''Waxing Moon'', Chang'e dances and fires a beautiful waxing moon, damaging and stunning all enemy Gods in a line in front of her, the stun duration increasing for each successive God hit.

----

* AdaptationalHeroism: Originally, Chang'e's decision to drink the immortality potion was because she's just curious. In some other opera plays, which Smite takes cue from, she drank the potion because thieves assaulted her home while Hou Yi was away and she's trying to protect it.[[note]]Curiously, in this alternate version, the thief is instead Feng Meng, who in the original version was Hou Yi's disgruntled apprentice that eventually killed him.[[/note]]
* BattleCouple: If put in the same team, even moreso if in the same lane, with Hou Yi.
* DanceBattler: All of her abilities.
* DifficultButAwesome: Her abilities aren't hard to hit in general, but using her ultimate to its true potential can be. Chang'e can inflict the longest stuns in the entire game and completely turn a teamfight by hitting 3 or more enemy gods with ''Waxing Moon'', but good luck lining up that shot.
* CombatMedic: While not as potent as some characters' AoE heals, Moonflower Dance is still enough to get her classified as a "healer" character in Assault.
* GradualGrinder: This is her style of damage, both in lane and in a teamfight. Chang'e doesn't have very high burst compared to many of her fellow mages, but the very low CD on her ''Crescent Moon Dance'' combined with how easy it is to hit allows her to poke you with it over and over until suddenly you're about to die. The longer a teamfight goes on without Chang'e being burned down, the more valuable she is.
* HotterAndSexier: Players were quick to point out how much larger her breasts appeared to be when her splash art was updated. The Chinese splash art gives her AbsoluteCleavage.
* NoSell: ''Moonlit Waltz'' offers a brief period of total immunity to damage, even the strongest sources.
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: The Jade Rabbit that does the talking for her and works like a delivery boy for her.
* TheVoiceless: She barely speaks at all, but the Jade Rabbit that accompanies her sure likes to brag around.
** Actually averted when using the Lunar Tango skin, whereas Chang'e speaks... with a Mexican accent. The rabbit just speaks when delivering item.
* ServileSnarker: Occasionally, the rabbit snarks or silently complains/grumbles when Chang'e [[YouGetMeCoffee tells him to buy an item]].
-->''Oh, sure thing! Why don't I just tend to the garden, polish the silver and prepare a sandwich while I'm at it...!''
-->''... I keep saying you've got to move on girl, that Hou Yi ain't waiting around...''
* ShoutOut: Upon starting a match, Chang'e sometimes says [[Music/MenWithoutHats "You can dance if you want to..."]]
** During her Victory Animation, the Jade Rabbit does a few dances such as the [[MichaelJackson Moonwalk]] or the Travolta dance from PulpFiction.
** Jade Rabbit itself likes to take cues from [[KillerRabbit Rabbit]] [[Film/MontyPythonAndTheHolyGrail of Caerbannog]] when taunting.
-->''I'm not behind the rabbit. I am the rabbit!''
-->''I am the most foul, cruel and bad tempered rodent you ever set eyes on! ... Oh, her? Yes, well, she's with me.''
*** ...and from BugsBunny and Disney/AliceInWonderland when running with items.
-->''I knew I should have taken that left at Alburquerque...''
-->''I'm late, I'm late! For a very important appointment!''
* SpicyLatina: Her Lunar Tango skin evokes this.

[[folder:He Bo, The God of the Yellow River]]
[[quoteright:250:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hebo_1182.png]]
[[caption-width-right:250:"Those who oppose me shall be swept away!"]]

-> '''Voiced by:''' Creator/ChristopherSabat

As God of the Yellow River, He-Bo tamed the massive and turbulent waters with humility and sacrifice. Now, the forces of the great river are at his command!

Throughout history, no river has been the source of more nourishment or more destruction than China’s Yellow River. Its basin valley was the cradle that birthed Chinese civilization, feeding fields with water and millions of tons of collected sediments, which give the river its yellow hue. The river is also treacherous and prone to flooding, destroying shoreline settlements and drowning thousands.

Long ago, Feng Yi, a mortal man living along the riverside, watched in dismay as a storm stirred the waters and gorged the banks. It would not be long before the mighty river consumed his village. Both humble and wise, Feng Yi tied rocks to his belt before casting himself into the waters. This act of sacrifice did more than appease the angry river, it promoted Feng Yi to Godhood over it. Thus, he became He Bo.

Much time passed, and He Bo grew proud of his great river, so proud that he declared the Yellow River the biggest body of water anywhere. A passerby asked if He Bo had seen the North Sea, but He Bo dismissed the comment, for heavy rains were falling and the river was roaring and full. As time wore on, thought of the North Sea tickled his mind, so he made the journey. There, the Dragon King of the Northern Sea warmly met him. Viewing the endless expanse of water, He Bo was humbled and returned to his River wiser.

For He Bo, there are no greater virtues than wisdom and humility. With the force of the Yellow River at his command, He Bo will remind his enemies what it means to be humble.

He Bo is a Mage-type god. His passive ability, ''Steady Flow'', increases his magical power for five seconds any time he uses an ability. Using another ability in that window will refresh the timer, as well as increase the effect up to three stacks. His first ability, ''Water Cannon'', deals damage to all enemies in a short cone in front of him, with an extremely short cooldown. His second ability, ''Atlas of the Yellow River'' unfurls the great scroll he carries on his back directly ahead of him. He Bo and his allies move quicker over the scroll; his enemies are slowed. His third ability, ''Waterspout'', creates a burst of water at a targeted area. It has good range and modest area of effect. Enemies hit by the spout take damage and are thrown into the air briefly. His ultimate ability, ''Crushing Wave'', makes He Bo turn into a great wave and surge forward, crushing any enemy caught in his path for immense damage.

----
* BaldOfAwesome: Before the remake, he had male-pattern baldness on his head to let you know he was truly worthy of becoming deified for his sacrifice.
* BigNo: His dying quote, which quickly gets peppered with drowning sound.
* DashAttack: His ultimate, Crushing Wave.
* {{Fratbro}}, SurferDude: His alternate skin ''He Bro'' turns him into this, with alternate voice set.
* GiantWallOfWateryDoom: His ultimate certainly has the image. While it's not ''that'' much bigger than he is normally, the "doom" part definitely applies given how much damage it does.
* GlassCannon: Or rather, water cannon, which is also the name of one of his abilities. He Bo is well-known for his enormous burst damage, with a joke even going around at one point that he uses "three ultimates" because of how hard he can hit with just his normal abilities, but if he gets locked down under CC he's done for.
* HeroicSacrifice: This is the way he became a god.
* HotterAndSexier: Compare his [[http://th08.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/f/2013/325/3/2/smite___he_bo_by_binary_map-d6v3pp9.jpg old model]] with his [[http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/smite.gamepedia.com/thumb/7/7e/T_HeBo_Default_Card.png/250px-T_HeBo_Default_Card.png new one.]]
* ImMelting: Collapses into a puddle in his death animation. His BigNo devolving into gurgling really sells it.
* MakingASplash: Well, he ''is'' a river god.
* WizardBeard: He Bo had a large beard and moustache going into it before his remake.

[[folder:Nu Wa, Guardian Of Heaven]]
[[quoteright:250:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nuwa2_919.png]]
[[caption-width-right:250:[[http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/smite.gamepedia.com/4/49/NuWa_V3_Intro_1.ogg "Once again mankind needs my help. I must protect them and this sacred place!"]]]]

-> '''Voiced by:''' Creator/StephanieYoung

When two warring Gods shattered the World Pillar, Heaven and Earth dangerously shifted, and Armageddon was unleashed. Firestorms, floods, and bloodthirsty monsters ravaged the land and stole the lives of more than can be counted. In ages past, Nu Wa, Guardian of Heaven and Earth, hand-crafted all people from clay. They were her creations, her children, her responsibility.

As the Earth shuddered and broke, and the skies turned black with ash, Nu Wa forged five mystic stones, one for each of the elemental forces of nature: Earth, Water, Fire, Wood, and Metal. With the power of these stones, she slew a gargantuan tortoise, severed its legs, and raced to the broken World Pillar. One leg she used to prop the Heavens aloft and with the elemental stones, she sealed it in place. Balance between Heaven and Earth was restored, but the world was never the same. Skies cleared, but the stars had shifted. Seas retreated, but rivers drained westward. Everything leaned, but the End was averted.

In the years that followed, Nu Wa and her brother, Fu Xi, took the throne of China. They ruled with wisdom and ushered in an age of recovery and prosperity, for which she is adored and worshipped to this day.

Yet, the skies grow dark once more and chaos threatens to engulf the land. Gods from all Pantheons have chosen Earth as a battleground, trading blows with the same thoughtless fervor that destroyed the World Pillar so long ago. Determined to prevent such calamity from repeating, Nu Wa has summoned the elemental stones once more. For she is the Guardian of Heaven and Earth; all mankind are her creations, her children, her responsibility.

Nu Wa is a mage-type god. Her passive, ''Strength of Wood'', snares enemy on every 5th basic attack. Her first ability, ''Mysterious Fog'', creates a cloud of fog at her position that drifts forward independent of her, granting allies stealth unless they attack and doing continuous damage to enemies. Her second ability, ''Clay Soldiers'', summons up to three soldiers made of clay from the ground that immediately charge an enemy, reducing their spell resistance. The soldiers stay alive for a while after summoning and behave like minions, targeting the nearest enemy God or structure. Her third ability, ''Shining Metal'', launches metal in a line in front of Nu Wa, dealing damage. If a Clay Soldier is hit by Shining Metal, it explodes, dealing extra damage. Her ultimate, ''Fire Shards'', makes Nu Wa assume her true, half-serpentine form and fly into the sky, giving her allies visibility of all enemy gods. After a few seconds, Nu Wa launches off massive fireballs that hit everyone on the enemy team regardless of their location.

Nu Wa was originally a different god entirely, but in August 2014 she was redone due to what Hi-Rez considered to be a confusing playstyle, as well as updated her appearance and giving her a new voice. For her old skillset, open this note; [[note]]Her passive, ''Elemental Crystals'', charges a crystal for every spell she casts and when all five are active, Nu Wa turns into a [[SnakePeople Naga]], refreshing the effects of all of her crystals. The Wood Crystal is attached to her passive and always active, giving her a persistent HP regeneration. Her first skill, ''Fog'', creates a cloud of fog that Nu Wa and any allies disappear into, making them stealthed unless they attack, and does constant damage over time to nearby enemies. Fog also activates the Water Crystal, increasing her movement speed. Her second skill, ''Clay Soldiers'', summons up to five clay soldiers that behave like minion waves, going to attack the nearest enemy god or structure. Clay Soldiers activates the Earth Crystal, giving Nu Wa physical protection. Her third ability, ''Flame Pillar'', summons a crystal that detonates after a brief delay, doing more damage the closer Nu Wa is to the detonation point. It also activates her Fire Crystal, making her basic attacks do splash damage. Her ultimate, ''Pillar of Heaven'', summons four massive pillars from the ground that form a box of electrical energy that damages and heavily snares enemies that cross the threshold, and activates the Metal Crystal, which doubles Nu Wa's basic attack's damage.[[/note]] Her look was also changed due to repeated complaints by Chinese players that she doesn't actually look like the mythological goddess.

----

* AlwaysAccurateAttack: Her ultimate, even moreso than Neith's; it can't even be blocked by a teammate, since it just hits everyone from above. Damage immunity/reduction is your only defense.
* ArtEvolution: As a result of Chinese players complaining that her in-game appearance didn't match her depiction in Chinese legend.
* ArmorPiercingAttack: Specializes in these with her Clay Soldiers, which can take away up to 75 magical protections at max rank, which is ''a lot''. To put it in context, the item-based armor penetration stat caps out at only 50.
* BigNo: When she dies, and she really draws it out too; it lasts nearly six seconds. After the second VocalEvolution, she shortens it a bit.
* CannonFodder: Her clay minions are very frail and are generally only summoned so that she can blow them up with Shining Metal. However, they can also be used to take shots from a tower while she hits it.
** Pre-rework Nu Wa was notorious about this, summoning a large group of minions for the tower to chew through while she herself heavily damaged it with Fire Strike (the only ability in the game to deal damage to structures) and the double damage from her ultimate. She was one of the few gods capable of easily taking down an unguarded tower without the aid of a minion wave, and the only one to do so quickly. Removing that ability was one of the major reasons for her rework.
* {{Combos}}: Blowing up her ''Clay Minions'' with a ''Shining Metal''.
* CrosshairAware: ''Fire Shards'' puts a rune on all enemy gods that serves as a timer to impact.
* DeathFromAbove: ''Fire Shards'' does this as a global damage skill.
* DoesNotLikeShoes: Nu Wa, when in her human form, floats along the ground barefoot.
* ElementalPowers: She possesses the powers of Earth, Water, Fire, Wood, and Metal
* {{Fanservice}}: One of the most blatant examples. See {{Stripperific}} below.
* [[GodEmperor God Empress]]: She was one of these together with her brother at one point.
* MookMaker: Clay Soldiers lets her create an extra wave of mooks for your side. Her update made them less numerous but more capable.
* PowerFloats: She slithers across the air with her legs together like they're still her serpent form's tail.
* SnakePeople: Before the update, she became this if she used all of her abilities within a short amount of time, refreshing the stats that they gave her. Now it activates when she uses her ultimate or dies, and has no impact other than visuals.
* {{Stripperiffic}}: Old Nu Wa wore a one piece suit made out of what appeared to be snake scales, with nothing but a thong and a loincloth covering her. New Nu Wa is even ''worse'', all she has covering her torso is a thin strap of cloth over AbsoluteCleavage.
* {{Underboobs}}: Feature prominently in her new character model, along with BareYourMidriff.
* VocalEvolution: Nu Wa has undergone TWO instances. First when she got remodeled, she gets a new VA. And then, some time later, her old VA is called back to re-record her new form's voices.

Zhong Kui sought to pit his brilliant mind against the Imperial Examinations, tests to select councilors for the Emperor. With ease, he passed, but when the emperor saw his hideous face, he cast the scholar out. Offended, furious, Zhong Kui hurled himself repeatedly at the palace gates until his body was broken.

For his crime, Zhong Kui’s soul was judged by the King of Hell, but where the Emperor saw only ugliness, the King of Hell saw potential armed with genius. Zhong Kui was appointed Lord of Demons, tasked to forever hunt and ensnare the evils of the world.

For centuries, home owners and shopkeepers have adorned their buildings with Zhong Kui’s likeness, for that visage that once horrified the emperor now glares with purpose at unwelcome demons. Yet these days, it is not just shops and homes in peril, but the whole world. It does not take a mind like Zhong Kui’s to see evil’s hand in this War of the Gods. The time has come to bring these demons to task, and Zhong Kui means to smite them all.

Zhong Kui is a mage-type god. His passive, ''Demon Bag'', captures demons pulled out of enemies hit by his Expose Evil + Exorcism combo. For every demons captured, Zhong Kui's protections slightly improve. His first ability, ''Expose Evil'', sends out a talisman that marks every enemy that it hits, dealing damage over time and adding additional effects to his other abilities. If Expose Evil is removed before the duration expires, it instantly deals half of the remaining damage. His second ability, ''Exorcism'', deals damage in a cone. If the enemy has been marked by Expose Evil, Exorcism will remove the marks, pullling the demons out of them and into the demon bag, and also heal Zhong Kui for up to three marked spirits. His third ability, ''Book of Demons'', passively creates a mystic scroll that hovers beside Zhong Kui whenever the ability is off cooldown, firing magic bolts whenever he attacks. When used, the Book of Demons swirls around Zhong, dealing damage and stunning all nearby foes. If the enemy has been marked by Expose Evil, the mark is removed but the stun effect gets doubled. Zhong Kui's ultimate, ''Recall Demons'', causes Zhong Kui to become immune to slows and knockbacks and has him release the demons from his Demon Bag to run down any enemy in the area, gaining speed the farther they travel. While Recall Demons is active, the protection effects from Demon Bag's passive is doubled, but once the effect ends, the bag is emptied completely.
----
* {{Acrofatic}}: A strange example in his taunt animation, which has him perform what can only be described as a butt-bounce. Averted by his gameplay, as he's one of the least mobile gods in the game.
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Has ash grey skin like an UndeathlyPallor. His god reveal shows him as being this colour in life as well.
* AnimeHair: His very weird beard, shaped like a half-moon from the front. Though actually, [[OlderThanTheyThink his beard is largely portrayed like that in historical artwork]], though it varies between just being wildly grown all around his head to the lengths of the ends noticely stopping much like in {{VideoGame/Smite}} - but the beard usually sticks up strongly regardless.
* BadassBeard: His large beard uniquely stands up in a way that makes it resemble an axe's head from the front.
* {{Combos}}: His Expose Evil ability is necessary for his other ones. Marking enemies with it is required for his Exorcism ability to capture demons to store into his bag and utilize his passive, also healing himself for consuming the mark. His Book of Demons may also consume the mark, stunning for double the duration when it does. His ultimate will temporarily grant double the projections the demons in his demon bag grant him at the cost of causing all of the demons in his bag to be emptied from his bag by the ultimate duration's end.
* DarkIsNotEvil: But he's damn scary compared to most good guys. [[RunningGag Noticing a pattern here?]]
* DemonSlayer: He catches demon spirits and traps them in his bag.
* DrivenToSuicide: He passed the Imperial examinations with ease, which should have led him being selected as a councilor. Instead, the Emperor had him cast out after seeing his ugly face, causing Zhong Kui to angrily hurl himself against the palace gates repeatedly until his body was broken from it.
* {{Gonk}}[=/=]FaceOfAThug: So unattractive, the Emperor had him thrown out despite passing the exams with flying colours. Even compared to other overweight gods of {{VideoGame/Smite}}, Zhong Kui's ugliness is further with his skin coloured not unlike an UndeathlyPallor and his face very wrinkled.
* GoodIsNotNice: Despite his role in hunting demons, his gameplay implies it'll kinda hurt. He has a joke where he preemptively apologizes if you don't survive his exorcising the demons inside of you.
--> "I will free you from your demons. Sorry if you die in the process."
* ImprobableWeaponUser: His oversized calligraphy brush is also used as a MagicWand.
* MagicWand: SubvertedTrope - it's a calligraphy brush which he can be assumed to use to write his what-appears-to-be [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fulu "Fu" talismans]]. He shoots magical projectiles out of it for his basic attack and spins it around him for his Book of Demons ability.
* MakeMeWannaShout: His Exorcism ability is basicly him shouting at the oponents, driving out their inner evil in a rather painful way.
* ShoutOut: When there's something strange in the Battlefield of the Gods... WhoYouGonnaCall? [[Film/{{Ghostbusters}} Demon Catcher]] [[http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/smite.gamepedia.com/thumb/a/aa/T_ZhongKui_DemonCatcher_Card.png/250px-T_ZhongKui_DemonCatcher_Card.png?version=af7cac7c950bbc818ef717682f81f77c Zhong Kui]].
* TheSmartGuy: Not that it did him any credit in life. [[VindicatedByHistory In death, however...]]
* SpinAttack: His Book of Demons ability has him hold his calligraphy brush outward and spin around.
* UndeathlyPallor: Has ash grey skin, though his god reveal portrays him as that colour ''before'' he died.
* VindicatedByHistory: In-universe, himself. The Emperor did not grant him the position he deserved from passing the Imperial examinations because he was ugly, and his suicide sent him to hell, but the king of Hell made him The Demon Queller in death and even more ironically, his ghastly appearance became the method by which people tributed to him as they put his visage upon their doors as a guardian spirit to ward away evil.

Born to innocence, forced to fight, destined to be a hero, the child-god, Nezha, defends those that cannot defend themselves, especially against tyrant Gods.

For three and a half years, Nezha’s mother carried him in her womb. During this time, the Dragon Gods, led by Ao Kuang, terrorized the people, sending floods and storms, and demanding not just food, but child sacrifices to feast upon as well.

Into this world was Nezha born, a full grown boy with laughter in his eyes, trained by the immortal sage Taiyi Zhenren, who gave him the powerful Universe Ring and Armillary Sash. Youthful and carefree, Nezha was also headstrong, often arguing with his father what was right and wrong.

But youth does not last forever, and Nezha’s life changed defending two friends against a captain of Ao Kuang’s army. Insulted, the Dragon God commanded his third son, Ao Bing, to defeat the boy, but in the end, Nehza slew his opponent. Furious with grief, Ao Kuang demanded Nezha’s father make reparations for the offense committed by his son, or he would send floods and storms to ravage the land. Nezha, humbly, sacrificed himself to appease the Dragon God, but evil Ao Kuang sent storms anyway.

Taiyi Zhenren worked his wisdom, and from the petals of a Lotus plant, Nezha was reborn. The immortal sage gave him new weapons – the Fire Tipped Spear and Wind Fire Wheels – weapons to challenge even the Dragon God and defeat him once and for all.

Time has passed since Ao Kuang’s ruin, but the winds of war are rising and new Gods of Tyranny challenge the safety of the defenseless. Once again, Nezha will set aside his youth and stand against the tide, for not even death can stop him.

Ne Zha is an Assassin-type God. His passive, ''Immortal Spirit'', grants him a stack every time he lands a basic attack. Each stack slightly increases Ne Zha's health regeneration, but all stacks are lost on death. His first ability, ''Universe Ring Toss'', fires a projectile that rebounds between up to seven targets, dealing damage and applying minor protection and speed debuffs. Every hit will also briefly increase Ne Zha's speed. The ability can hit the same target multiple times, but at greatly reduced damage. His second ability, ''Flaming Spear'', is a simple stimulant that increases Ne Zha's attack speed and critical chance for up to six seconds. His third ability, ''Armillary Sash'', throws the item forward. If a god is hit, they are stunned while Ne Zha pulls himself to them, dealing damage in an area. His ultimate, ''Wind Fire Wheels'', makes Ne Zha dash forward. If he his a god, he lifts them up into the air, effectively banishing both. At that point, he will attack three times (with a {{QTE}} sequence that can turn those attacks into crits), before slamming the unfortunate target into the ground, dealing damage to it and enemies in the area of effect, and ultimately leaping back to his starting location.

----

* BladeOnAStick: Wields the Fire-tipped Spear.
* ChainLightning: ''Universe Ring Toss'' isn't a lightning attack but it bounces between targets like one.
* {{Combo}}: Invoked with his ultimate, which is specifically described as "unleashing a combo" in the tooltip. In the sense of chaining different abilities together, he will usually use his ''Armillary Sash'' on his intended target first in order to guarantee that ''Wind Fire Wheels'' will hit.
* DudeLooksLikeALady: Many new players mistake him for a pretty princess at first sight, in part due to his high-pitched voice. One of the Matches of the Days where all Goddesses battle also touches on this trope.
--> ''... And no. Ne Zha is not a girl.''
** In Hel's updated voice pack, it turns out that Light Hel will mistake him as a girl.
-->'''Light Hel''': Take that, little girl!
-->'''Dark Hel''': That is a boy, you idiot!!
* GradualRegeneration: The benefit of his passive.
* HerdHittingAttack: One of the few gods with an area attack in his basic progression.
* HeroicSacrifice: His passive used to be this, where he would heal all allies around him when he died. It reflected when he did this in his backstory in order to quell Ao Kuang's rage. [[spoiler: It didn't help, as Ao Kuang started a big series of storms.]]
--> ''I'll take one for the team.''
--> ''May my death be for good.''
--> ''I will not die in vain.''

[[caption-width-right:250:[[http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/smite.gamepedia.com/1/1c/HouYi_Intro_1.ogg "I will defend this land from those who intend to destroy it!"]]]]

In a time long past, an unexpected calamity came to be. From whence none knew, ten suns rose above the horizon. Such incessant light and heat ravaged the earth, wilting fields of grain, drying rivers, even melting forged metal. Bent beneath the scorching rays, the people begged the Emperor-God Di Jun to aid them. In reply, he called the great archer, Hou Yi.

Armed with a mystical red bow and a quiver of white arrows, Hou Yi traveled to Earth. What he found was a barren land. Shielding his eyes, he peered to the sky where the ten suns cruelly flared.

Nocking arrow to bow, Hou Yi loosed a warning at the suns hoping to frighten them away, but they impassively remained. So Hou Yi drew again and fired a killing shot. Pierced, the sun exploded in color and a giant red raven with three legs fell to the earth, slain by the white arrow.

Eight times more Hou Yi drew arrow to cheek. Eight shots more he let fly. Eight more bursts rent the sky, and eight more ravens fell dead. But one sun he left, and so fearful of Hou Yi's archery, this sun behaved, dipping below the horizon.

Now armed with the power of the red ravens he smote, sending light and fire against those that threaten the world, be it monster or beast, dragon or sun, man or God, Hou Yi is the Defender of the Earth.

[[note]]To see a continuation of Hou Yi's story, read Chang'e's lore.[[/note]]

Hou Yi is a Hunter God. His passive, ''Suntouched'', grants immunity to critical hits for 3 seconds after taking a critical hit. Using his first ability, ''Ricochet'', Hou Yi draws a bow for a powerful shot, which damages all enemies it passes through. If it hits a wall, it bounces off with increased range and increased damage for every bounce (up to two). If the arrow strikes a target inflicted with ''Mark of the Golden Crow'', it stuns. Hou Yi's second ability, ''Mark of the Golden Crow'', marks an enemy for 15s. Hou Yi deals bonus damage to marked enemies, increasing based on the target's missing health. At Rank 3, marked enemies are revealed, including stealthed enemies. At Rank 5, Hou Yi is granted armor penetration against the marked enemy. Using his third ability, ''Divebomb'', Hou Yi launches into the air, then after a short time, dives onto the ground, damaging any enemies at the area. If inflicted by ''Mark of the Golden Crow'', the target is knocked back. Hou Yi's ultimate ability, ''Sunbreaker'', has him rapidly shoot nine arrows in the sky, sending nine suns crashing one by one into the target area, dealing damage to all targets. If a target is inflcited with ''Mark of the Golden Crow'', they are also slowed for every hit.

----
* AchillesHeel: Not on him, but ''Mark of the Golden Crow'' provides one for every Stealth-based Gods (such as Loki) as being marked is the only thing that reveals invisibility.
* AnimalMotif: The golden crow.
* BattleCouple: If put in the same team, or even lane, with Chang'e.
* EarlyBirdCameo: Before his reveal via datamining, Hou Yi was foreshadowed by a directed taunt by Curse Voice Apollo.
* FashionableAsymmetry: His half-mask and armored bracer.
* LighterAndSofter: Judging from his quotes, this Hou Yi is taken from his phase as a noble hero that still sought to reunite with Chang'e, skipping the story that after Chang'e's departure, he'd lose his mind and [[FallenHero turn from a honorable hero]] [[FaceHeelTurn into a despicable tyrant]].
** Chang'e isn't even ''mentioned'' in his lore, which focuses solely on his slaying of the nine suns. Even stranger, some parts ''do'' reference events after Chang'e's disappearance, such as a couple of jokes referring to where he died.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: If he kills Chang'e, his wife.
* NotQuiteFlight: ''Divebomb'' looks like Hou Yi running on air, {{Wuxia}} style.
* PinballProjectile: ''Ricochet'', as the name suggests, bounces off of walls.
* ThePowerOfTheSun: He has a lot of sun motifs and shrouds his bow and arrow with sun fire. His passive is called 'Suntouched', which protects him from critical hits at times. And if that is not enough, his ultimate drops nine suns and all of its power to a big area.
* WalkingShirtlessScene: His outfit doesn't ''quite'' hide his toned body.
* YankTheDogsChain: His intro animation after logging in when he's the newest God in the game. He finally gets a chance to get some BattleCouple action with Chang'e! And then Chang'e gets whisked away to the moon right in front of his eyes. Ouch.
