* BrilliantButLazy: Invoked in the episode where the characters get their SAT scores back and Zack scores extremely high. The other characters realize out loud that although Zack's lazy, he's a lot smarter than he lets on. Zack himself tells them to keep it quiet, since he has "a reputation to look out for." Even without this example, there are numerous times where Zack excels at various schemes because he applies himself there instead of at schoolwork.

* FriendlyEnemy: Despite being at odds, he and Zack do seem to like one another and will admit to the other's positive traits. By the end of the series, they've dropped pretty much any animosity and get along well.

* FriendlyEnemy: With Mr Belding. Belding makes no secret of his frustration with Zack and Zack often runs his schemes under his nose but it's been shown that the two do like one another and have a level of genuine respect, Belding seeing that Zack is generally a good kid and Zack coming to regard Belding as a mentor.

* FriendlyEnemy: Despite being at odds, he and Zack do seem to like one another and will admit to the other's positive traits. By the end of the series, they're openly on good terms.

* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome: Despite being a mascot of the series, and even having his own "[[AndStarring and starring]]" credit in the theme song, Max is only a member of the main cast until Season 2, when he disappears from the show entirely and he's removed from the theme song. He would finally return in the 2020 series, but that still doesn't explain his absense in Seasons 2 to 4 of the original series.

* DitzyGenius: He's smart academically, but he usually lacks common sense, and is socially inept.

* HiddenDepths: Despite his {{Jerkass}} ways, genuinely liked Lisa, enough to be very hurt upon discovering that she only went out with him to help Jessie get back at him and not believe her her sincere claims that she really had come to like him also.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: At first, he's a jerk. Two moments that highly this is when he ruins Mr. Belding's car for no reason, and when he tells Jessie that he doesn't care who he hurts, as long as its not himself. Later on, he comes to see the [[HeelRealization error of his ways]], and becomes the latter, fixing Mr. Belding's car, and getting on better terms with the gang.

* FashionDesigner: In a final season episode she is applying for an internship at a clothing design studio and as a part of the application process she has to put on her own fashion show with her own designs and models. Kelly and Jessie help her sew the clothes while Zak and Slater organize the event. Later, all four model while Screech does commentary.

* TheAce: She's good at everything and loved to the point that Zack, Slater, and Screech go after her.
