* TheDreaded: Everyone who isn't named Zalgo, Slenderman, and Aton is terrified of him. For instance, even though his name was on the Enderman's Party List, X appeared to be the only monster not to be interviewed by the Rake and B.O.B. However, given his tendency to attack and eat monsters and humans alike, it was likely that both [[FearlessFool B.O.B]] and ''the Rake'' were afraid to meet up with X.

* AscendedToAHigherPlaneOfExistance: In "Legends of the Multiverse Part 4" it is finally what happens if Zalgo absorbs the Mutliverse crystals; [[spoiler: After his physical body is destroyed, he becomes pure energy and encompasses the entire Multiverse in his essence.]]

* TheHyena: A shtick of his — he laughs at the misery of others. He sadistically cackles at everything, especially death, destruction, and despair. [[StrawNihilist Life is a joke to him]], death is the ultimate punchline, and all ironies are equally funny in his mind.

** It's also Deconstructed in a sense. ''Pastamonsters'' Zalgo is written as capable of cracking hilarious jokes, but it's also shown that his evil side far exceeds it, and that it's entirely possible for one aspect of this trope to be so horrific as to almost cancel the other out. His attempts at BlackComedy are also used to call attention to the monster he is and what kind of a person would find mocking people's misery and tormenting them funny. To him, death is the ultimate punchline, life is a joke, and all ironies are equally silly.

* FreudianExcuse: Strongly averted. Unlike his apprentices and minions who are for the most part products of circumstance, Zalgo has no tragic event or circumstance in his past that drove him to The Dark Side. He simply is, and always has been a horrible person.
* TheGadfly: He preys on the {{AdultFear}}s of his opponents, loves telling them to [[FaceYourFears face their fears]], and pushes both [[BerserkButton Berserk Button]] and {{Relative Button}}s innumerable — it's hard to tell how much of what he does is actual scientific curiosity about fear and how much is just him being a {{Sadist}}.

* BrainsAndBrawn: The Brawn to Zalgo's Brians.

* EyeScream: [[spoiler: Miss. P shoves the Sword of Splendorman into his eye and out his head in "Legends of the Multiverse".]]

* LoveMakesYouCrazy: Although he was defiently already insane before Akira.

X (also known as Sonic.EXE) is an entity born from dark matter that has taken on Sonic the Hedgehog's form. One avid Sonic fan named Tom received a copy of a classic Sonic game in the mail from his friend Kyle about the possibly demonic CD and that it has to be destroyed. But regardless, Tom decided to try it out of curiosity. As he played, he began to see what his friend was talking about, when the game was bombarded with macabre imagery, with X killing Tails, Knuckles the Echidna, and Dr. Eggman in very horrifying ways. Tom was his next victim after playing it.

* TheHoard: To Zalgo.

* WarIsGlorious: Zalgo absolutely ''adores'' war, finding the meaningless deaths of millions extremely satisfying. He even started the Great Monster War out of sheer boredom

* CallAHumanAMeatbag: He sometimes refers to humans as "insects".

* CurbStompCushion: Most fights between him and Slenderman consist largely of Slenderman opening a can on Zalgo, though he'll usually put up some showy tricks for Slendy to evade and maybe land a good hit or two to remind the audience barely any other entity can oppose him.

* WeCanRuleTogether: He never stops to insist on having the Proxies join his side.

** Zalgo takes it even further in the "Legends of the Multiverse" finale. Bigmouth of Universe 35 briefly revives and Zalgo kills him again, sending him back into place.

* EyeBeams: Zalgo can generate tremendous, red, superheated torrents from his eyes and mouth, which are far larger and more destructive than even Slenderman's typical magic blasts, with a single thermal blast being enough to completely destroy three planets. Only beings of tremendous power, like other cosmic beings can survive a thermal blast from Zalgo head-on.

** Also serves as one to [[GodOfGood Aton]]. Aton believes life to be beautiful, Zalgo views life as meaningless. Aton views the citizens of the universe as flawed, yet beautiful creatures, Zalgo views them as creatures who solely exist to be toyed with and slaughtered. Aton is an all-powerful GodOfGood, Zalgo is an omnipotent GodOfEvil. Aton rules over the heavenly and beautiful Overworld, Zalgo dominates over the hellish and disgusting Pit. Aton commands an army of angels, Zalgo commands an army of the tortured. Even their signature colors, [[GOldAndWhiteAreDivine white and gold]] and [[RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver red and black]] conflict each other.

* RealityWarping: To the point where he turned a ''planet'' into a giant gold coin. "Legends of the Multiverse" has him using this power to a much more pragmatically. * AbusiveDad: UpToEleven. When Slenderman was a child, Zalgo put him through TrainingFromHell and forcefully makes him his "sparring partner" for his training, torturing the young Slenderman to the brink of death every day for the next 30 years.

* AxCrazy: Hands down one of the craziest in the comic. ''Hands down''. He's a sadistic, sociopathic and demonic tyrant who has gleefully destroyed millions of planets by massacring the inhabitants and enslaving the survivors, all ForTheEvulz

It's also the reason he treats his family members like trash.]]

* OffingTheOffspring: When Slenderman was born, Zalgo deemed him an abomination and attempted to kill him. Luckily, Akira and Shadowlurker were able to talk him out of him. When Slenderman grew older, however, Zalgo attempted to kill him after realizing he had broken from his control, but fails when he uses his powers against him.

* NoSell: Not to an attack on him, and in more than one way. [[spoiler: When Ms. P is able to destroy Slenderman to prevent Zalgo from absorbing him, it lets off a tremendous explosion of energy that leaves her collapsed and overcome, though part of that is due to her having to kill the being she loved. Zaalgo doesn't even look like he was touched by the resulting explosion of energy, and doesn't even seem remotely affected that Slenderman was destroyed. He just rewinds the moment and extracts Slenderman's power anyway.

* EvilPlan: To destroy the multiverse and then recreate it into a chaotic wasteland with no rules where he rules as a god. [[spoiler: He succeeds in this in "Legends of the Multiverse".]]

** Far more profound, however, is the evil that Zalgo has unleashed among the sentient inhabitants of the universe. To have a brutal industrialized hellscape is one thing, but to populate it with his army, criminals and many other overlords who assist Zalgo in creating "a world where the innocent and the weak are always preyed upon," in Lara's description, is entirely different. The true evil of Zalgo is that he utterly enjoys dehumanizing the universe, reduced the inhabitants of many planets to a Darwinian struggle in which strength and cunning untethered from morality prosper. It is a world not merely of "catastrophe, devastation, and carnage," as Slenderman says, though it is certainly that. More devastating, though, is that it is a world where vices have become virtues, where children have become slaves to evil and manipulation, where restraint and mercy lead only to death and ruin, where the few pockets of innocence and joy are singled out for ruination, where underlings do not merely carry out evil orders but torture refor pleasure (calling it "fun"). This is the unspeakable evil Zalgo has unleashed. ''All for his enjoyment and pleasure''.

** Empasized in "Legends of the Multiverse", [[spoiler: Zalgo barely takes any damage through the whole adventure, and even takes some hard hits from ''Cronos'' which barely slow him down. The only thing in the arc that really gets to him is Slenderman blasting a hole in his chest and even then, Zalgo still has enough power to absorb Slenderman, teleport away and heal himself. Later, the New Elite manage to brutally beat Zalgo, but this is only because they were powered by Aton's might.]]

And remember when Zalgo was actually cautious when fighting Cronos? Here, [[spoiler: he survives a flurry of punches from Cronos, chops him in the neck, parries hits, uses clean boxing combinations, quickly clinches and then knees Cronos in the face and finishes it off by tossing him away like this week's trash.]]

* KickTheDog: He brags about murdering Sally, Knuckles and Tails, [[spoiler: rapes Ms. P mentally and physically and finally has Lara's brother murdered in a horribly brutal way. He also hysterically uses Isaac's death to mock Lara]].

* PostRapeTaunt: [[spoiler: After raping Ms. P, X tells Jeff that Ms. P "begged him for more". Jeff responds by yelling impotently]].

After the successful murder of Slenderman, Zalgo immediately took over the Under Realm and proclaimed himself the absolute ruler of it (the Under Realm), subjecting every single Monster to his rule. Zalgo also seeks out the death of Slenderman's remaining Proxies. but with little success.

* AndThenWhat: Zalgo clearly didn't think of what to do next once he conquered the Under Realm.
* TheBadGuyWins: Zalgo has successfully conquered the Under Realm and killed Slenderman, and has remained undefeated ever since. He now hopes to destroy the last of Slenderman's Proxies.
* BigBad: Despite being the primary villain, Zalgo has less overall appearances and no longer has any plots that involve antagonizing the Proxies, because after all, Zalgo ''is'' a GodOfEvil and without Slenderman, no one on the Proxies side can even harm him.
* BondVillainStupidity: No doubt about it, his unwillingness to directly confront the Proxies will bite him in the ass at some point.
* EvilIsPetty: One monster in the Cut-Throat Cavern claims that the first thing Zalgo did as ruler of the Under Realm was draining the land of water as punishment for the Monsters disrespect of him.
* GreaterScopeVillain: Zalgo acts as this in the series. Sure, he's still the chief antagonist, but a lot of antagonists have more involvement than himself in the plot such as Shadowlurker (the top enforcer of the Under Realm), Enderman (who kidnaps BEN), the Grand High Inquisitor (a brutish, tyrannical man in Zalgo's employ) and the Stiltwalker and Seedeaters. On the other hand, we have Jeff's Inner Self later revealed to be his EvilCounterpart, who serves as a more psychological threat to Jeff. So yeah, Zalgo, so far, has never directly acted against the Proxies; instead, it's the other mentioned characters that cause trouble for Jeff and his friends.
* HeroKiller: He killed Slenderman long before the comic began.
* KarmaHoudini: At least as of now, he has yet to be defeated.
* KickTheDog: When his minions bring surviving members from Jeff's gang to him, he rolls his eyes and uses his EyeBeams to fry them, not even interrogating them as he had previously planned.
* LackOfEmpathy: He reacts to [[spoiler: Shadowlurker's death]] without even batting an eye.
* LaughablyEvil: Especially compared to his canon comic counterpart. The comic displays Zalgo in a comedic depression and frustration over his minions' constant failure to kill the Proxies.
* NervousWreck: While he outwardly displays apathy towards the Proxies, in private he's deeply frustrated by the fact that none of his minions can seem to kill the Proxies to the point that he secretly relies on a psychiatrist in the form of himself.
* OffingTheOffspring: He killed Slenderman long before the comic began.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: His depression in the comic is jarring considering his Laughably Evil schtick.
* OrcusOfHisThrone: He managed to destroy Slenderman and plans on simply waiting for the Proxies to die of old age. With the Proxies unable to stop Zalgo without Slenderman, Zalgo doesn't care enough to find them himself.
* OutOfFocus: He appears very sporadically despite being the chief antagonist. Justified in that the Proxies can't do anything to defeat him and he sees no point in doing anything.
* PetTheDog: A downplayed example. It seems Zalgo's utter hatred of humanity has wavered to the point where he welcomes criminals from the Human World into the Under Realm for safety from the police. However, this isn't saying much, as he still treats mortals as inferior creatures who aren't exempt from his rules.
* PluckyComicRelief: Oddly enough, despite being the BigBad, his LaughablyEvil tendencies make him a main source of levity, especially in the otherwise DarkerAndEdgier non-canon comic.
* PsychopathicManChild: We discover that his minions' constant failure to kill the Proxies has driven him to depression, but he comes off acting like a teenager or young adult who's simply become bored and confused about what to do with his life. In contrast to Jeff, whose depression seems much more justified, because his whole life has been mostly full of tragic events.
* PyrrhicVictory: Zalgo succeeded in destroying Slenderman, leaving the Proxies no way to defeat him, and then afterward he successfully took over the Under Realm. The problem is that Zalgo now has to wait years for the Proxies to die of old age, potentially giving them all the time in the world to find something to end him. Now Zalgo just stays moping around in his lair and having therapy sessions with himself.
* StepfordSmiler: Zalgo has been reduced to this. Outwardly, he portrays himself to his followers as being completely apathetic towards Jeff or any of his many enemies. Privately, he's reduced to a sad puddle of his former self, wracked with anxiety over the fact that every attempt to kill the Proxies has utterly failed and faces uncertainty about the prospect of the Proxies eventually teaming back up to defeat him.
* TheSyndicate: It is revealed that Zalgo has begun to welcome outlaws, bandits, gangsters and evil organizations from the human world into the Under Realm. Interestingly, most of the antagonists have connections to Zalgo, from lowly thugs to ruthless mobsters, assassins and slave drivers.
* VictoryIsBoring: His victory over the Proxies has been going in his favor, even if his war on the Proxies isn't over yet. However, Zalgo can't enjoy his (temporary) triumph because the Proxies just won't die, and sooner or later they'll face Zalgo again.
* VillainDecay: He seems to have lost a lot of interest in killing the Proxies and has almost given up on combating them completely. It doesn't help that he's literally began to talk to himself and close himself off from his own followers. Somewhat justifiable in that, the Proxies have absolutely no way of beating him and therefore Zalgo sees no reason to continue battling them.
* VillainousBreakdown: Zalgo has been reduced to sulking miserably in his lair and literally talking to himself (in the form of a therapist) about his minions' inability to defeat the Proxies, even though Slenderman is dead. He's completely apathetic to his minions and subjects bringing him tribute, and generally seems to have come down with depression.
* WeHaveReserves: After defeating Slenderman, Zalgo has sent wave after wave of demonic minions after the Proxies over the years, even after it's become clear that none of them stand a good chance. After nine years of doing this, he's stopped holding out hope that any of the demons will ever kill a single Proxy, and they're now commanded entirely by the Shadowlurker.

A malevolent, primordial cosmic entity and the source of all evil. It is the almighty creator of both the Under Realm and the Pit. Before it could corrupt the omniverse, Aton and his elite forces arrive to exterminate this great evil. Before it was completely destroyed, a fragment of it escaped and in the depths of an alien planet, turning the planet into the Pit. This is the first recorded Monster to ever exist.

After Zalgo had taken over the Under Realm, Shadowlurker was promoted to head of Zalgo's police force. Responsible with keeping the Under Realm in check, Shadowlurker is the top enforcer of the Under Realm, destroying and crushing any rising rebellion against Zalgo. He was also tasked with the capture of Jeff the Killer.

* AintTooProudToBeg: A downplayed example. [[spoiler: After Jeff does a number on him by using a grenade, he half-heartedly tries to plead with Jeff for his life. It didn't get him too far.]]
* ArchEnemy: Has sort of become this to Jeff.
* AssholeVictim: [[spoiler: As [[LaughablyEvil entertaining]]]] [[spoiler: as he was, Shadowlurker deserves little or no pity after Jeff killed him, considering how he mass-murdered and subjected many innocent people to Zalgo's rule, and he was an insufferable, uncouth {{jerkass}}.]]
* AxCrazy: He slaughtered Jeff's recently formed mercenary gang, including the men, women, and children inside. When Jeff confronts him, he reveals he did this days ago and has been casually waiting for him (Jeff) to show up.
* DirtyCop: Despite being the new Sherrif of the Under Realm, most of Shadowlurker's daily activities consist of silencing any rising rebellion, massacring villages, and oppressing thousands.
* DeathEqualsExplosion: [[spoiler: Explodes into dark energy when Jeff chops him in half.]]
* TheDragon: To Zalgo.
* EvilIsPetty: He didn't ''have'' to kill Jeff's gang, or even the many children guiltless of any crimes. He just wanted to.

* PoliceBrutality: An adept at this.
* PsychoForHire: He seems to enjoy his job.
* {{Sadist}}: In contrast to his canon counterpart, Shadowlurker is a bit of a sadist, casually slaughtering any opposing rebel forces with ease. He even slaughters people even when ''not'' under Zalgo's orders.
* TookALevelInJerkass: In the canon series, Shadowlurker was evil for sure, but he was still a bumbling henchman with [[EvenEvilHasStandards standards]] and a lot of comedy to dish out, making him pretty difficult to take seriously. Here, he's a smug {{jerkass}} who regularly subjects people to Zalgo's tyranny without a hint of remorse. He's also been shown to take the lives of innocent children, something his canon counterpart was never shown doing.
* WarmUpBoss: So far the only significant antagonist fought in the non-canon story.

They are a truly despotic empire, they have been conquring planets for eons and have been unstoppable for years. They have one of the largest armies in the omniverse, with over duodecillion still serving Zalgo to this day.

* ColdHam: His speeches of Zalgo are often exxagerated and carry a lot of weight, but he also says them in a low, regal voice.

* EvilGenius: Increibly intelligent and wicked.

* LackOfEmpathy: He has overseen the deaths of trillions with no remorse. This seems to be subverted in later episodes, as it's revealed he actualy ''does'' feel bad for all the people he has killed.

* RealityWarping: To the point where he turned a ''planet'' into a giant gold coin.

* KarmaHoudini: [[spoiler: Yes, Shadowlurker kills Zalgo and effectively saved the multiverse, but he still murdered half a million innocent lives during his years with Zalgo, including childrena and Zalgo's own minions. It's a wonder Aton just let him off scot-free without even acknowledging his crimes.]]

* LackOfEmpathy: He has oversaw the deaths of trillions with no remourse.

* OneManArmy: He can wipe out entrie armies low mowing the lawn as seen in "Legends of the Multiverse".
