It remains ruled by Orochi in allegiance with Kaido's faction.

* RealIsBrown: Completely inverted. Sure, One Piece is a very outlandish and cartoonish series, but the country of Wano is even more colorful than [[CrapsaccharineWorld Whole Cake Island]], with every building having bright colours and the inhabitants wearing colorful clothing and [[YouGottaHaveBlueHair having strange hair colors]]. The author is said to have deliberately made the Wano country this colorful.

He was murdered by the Shogun Orochi, who had allied with Kaido.

* CoolSword: He has ''two'' of them, both of which are of Great Grade. One of the famous sword he wielded is Enma, which he wielded to gave Kaido his one and only scar, is said to be able to cut through the bottom of hell. It was inherited by Hiyori before being passed down to Zoro in exchange for the return of Shuusui to the Wano country. It's also a HungryWeapon which would ''drain'' your Haki with each slash. You have to be a MasterSwordsman of the highest caliber just to ''wield'' it. A samurai from Wano Country that the Straw Hats meet on Punk Hazard. He is initially introduced as looking for his lost son, Momonosuke. When he arrived on the island, Trafalgar Law sliced up his body parts (head, torso, and legs), which were then scattered throughout the area. He has eaten the Garb-Garb Fruit (''Fuku Fuku no Mi'') which gives him the ability to create clothes for himself and others, which he erroneously believes is simply "sorcery." Later reveals himself as a retainer to the Kozuki Family posing as Monosuke's father. He's the captain of the Akazaya Nine.

* JapanesePoliteness: Wano Country's Japanese-ness extends to traditional social graces. He can be haughty as any aristocrat, but he also turns extremely self-effacing and even gets on his hands and knees while begging the Straw Hats' forgiveness for a rather minor slight (he assumed as pirates they were cheap thugs), or when requesting a favor.

The other four leaders of the Yakuza in Wano Country along with Hyogoro, each of them is in charge of a specific region (Ringo, Kibi, Udon and Hakumai). They command a vast number of underlings and are fiercely loyal to Hyogoro. They are "Blood Letter" Oomasa, "Broken Hat" Tsunagoro, "Moon-flower" O-Chou and "Snake Eyes" Yatappe.

* ArcVillain: He's one of the primary antagonists in the Wano Country Arc and one of the very few to not be an actual pirate, albeit deeply connected to one.

Tama is a girl from the Kuri region in Wano Country. She is a kasa weaver (traditional Japanese straw hat), as well as a kunoichi in training who follows the Kozuki Family. Three years before the events of the Wano Arc, she met Ace and his crew when they stayed at her village, and harbors a deep admiration for him. Her unnamed Devil Fruit allows her to create Dango from her body that she can feed to animals to tame them.

* TokyoIsTheCenterOfTheUniverse: Well, considering Wano is basically japan in OP world... Flashback of Wano's past and Kozuki Oden show how the major powers of the world are related to Wano one way or another. Even when he was on Whitebeard's crew, when Whitebeard decided to start division commanders and he was suggested for a position, Oden wasn't exactly thrilled at the notion and had to be forced into taking it

Despite his vassal objections to pull him aboard, Whitebeard instead issued a challenge to Oden: Hang onto the rope for three days. If he could endure, Whitebeard would allow him to join the crew. Oden actually managed for two days and came very close on the third but circumstances forced him to let go. Regardless Whitebeard recognized his strength and resolve and allowed him onboard.

* RescueRomance: How Toki and he met, he ended up washing ashore where she was after slipping from the rope he had held onto for Whitebeard's challenge and saved her from the bandits trying to capture her. They ended up falling for each other not long after.
