Shame that he survived...

* TheLastOfTheseIsNotLikeTheOthers: Heartless tweaks both major patterns of ThemeNaming in Dealer--she's not named after one of the face cards, like the other human members of Dealer; instead she's named for one of the suites, like the wizards mutated by noise cards--and even then, her name isn't a positive association with the suite, but a negative one: she's heart-''less''.

* DropTheHammer: Diamond Ice's "Break Ice Hammer" is bigger than she is. She'll also bludgeon her enemies with a pair of freefloating ice boulders.

* DropTheHammer: Club Strong, fittingly enough, wields a club fashioned from a tree trunk.

* LackOfEmpathy: He doesn't really understand emotions and says he doesn't need them. To be fair, living alone in a Black Hole for millions of years will do that to you.

* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: The creator of the Rs and by far and away the most powerful.

** His abilities revolving around the galaxy with multi elemental attacks makes him one to [[VideoGame/MegaManBattleNetwork1 PlanetMan.EXE]].

** For starters, the fused EM Humans of the first game would always use the name of the alien first (''e.g.,'' Taurus's fused form is Taurus Fire). The fused forms of Corvus and Virgo use their Wizard names as the second part--Jack Corvus and Queen Virgo.

* PlayingCardMotifs: The members are named after the face cards, while the victims of their Noise Cards are christened with one of the suits. (Heartless is the exception.) The decor of their base resembling a casino further reinforces the theme.

* MeaningfulName: Sirius is the brightest star in the sky, which is what influenced much of his design like the radiant golden quasi-wings behind him. He has no overt connection to dogs or constellations.

** As a super-evolved cosmic being, that enjoys collecting planets, makes him remarkably similar to [[VideoGame/DarkStalkers Pyron]].
** He is also very much based on [[Characters/SupermanBrainiacCharacter Brainiac]]. Both enjoy collecting civilisations(cities and technology, by Brainiac, whole planets by Sirius), both have green skin, and blonde hair(although that trait is mostly seen by Brainiac's descendants, [[BaldOfEvil rather than him]]). Sirius, just like Brainiac in many continuities, is also responsible for the destruction of the protagonist's home planet for a second time.

** His role as a light based UltimateLifeForm, and a very powerful BonusBoss, are very similar to [[VideoGame/MegaManBattleNetwork3WhiteAndBlue Serenade.EXE]]. Their defeat is also part of unlocking the RecurringBoss' upgraded form (Bass GS/Rogue ZZ).

* MyDeathIsJustTheBeginning: In addition to his BatmanGambit, he also uploads his power into "[[TheVeryDefinitelyFinalDungeon that server]]" as part of the set up for the BonusBoss version of the Crimson Dragon.

** He is also very much based on Comicbook/{{Brainiac}}. Both enjoy collecting civilisations(cities and technology, by Brainiac, whole planets by Sirius), both have green skin, and blonde hair(although that trait is mostly seen by Brainiac's descendants, [[BaldOfEvil rather than him]]). Sirius, just like Brainiac in many continuities, is also responsible for the destruction of the protagonist's home planet for a second time.

** His face with his EyesAlwaysShut, [[FauxAffablyEvil general demanor]], and long hair, all recall [[VideoGame/MegaManLegends Mega Man Juno]]. Both also [[FaceDeathWithDignity take their deaths surprisingly well]], and are sure that despite it, they defeated Mega Man in a way.

* TheDarkChick: With an element of EvilGenius, though really it's because she has the self-control to follow King's instructions.

* LaserGuidedKarma: His [[AbusiveTreatment treatment]] of Tia, Jack, and Ace did ''not'' engender any loyalty towards him - they completely refuse to work for him from the moment of Heartless' betrayal, a fact she taunts him about.

* WhipItGood: [=MalWizards=] use energy whips as their main weapons.

* ContrastingSequelAntagonist: To Dr. Wily and his son Regal where they are exceptional scientists who had emotions to begin with that conflicted allowing them to redeem themselves to good from bad, Mr. King is a heartless philanthropist who care nothing about his subordinates and children to further his ambition for world domination.

* KnightOfCerebus: Prior main villains had sympathetic backstories or motivations. [[note]]Cepheus was paranoid and distrusting due to numerous attempts on his life, Lady Vega wanted to create a better world after losing her lover in a war.[[/note]] King, however, has no sympathetic motives and clearly relishes in his villainy. He makes no pretense about having some larger power or altruistic purpose behind his actions, he's just an egotistical megalomaniac with delusions of grandeur.

* NamesTheSame: Downplayed in the Japanese, where his name ''Mamorou'' is a hair's-breadth away from duplicating Aaron Boreal's name ''Mamoru''. Likewise, [[MythologyGag it cannot be an accident]] that his full name, Mamorou Urakata, is also just a hair away from ''Battle Network 3'''s Mamoru Urakawa.

** His design and colors match those of Lelouch during his time as an Emperor from Code Geass. Sirius like Lelouch is a sociopath and egotistic with a god complex viewing their minions as pawns. His manipulation of Black Hole that is known for the symbolism in the laws of physics pertaining zero, infinity, and nothing can be one to Lelouch's alter ego Zero that he references all the time even as an Emperor. His strain relationship with Apollo Flame who is a red clad right hand man can be one to Lelouch's with Kallen.

* BonusBoss: Of the third game, accessible after beating the game.
* ContrastingSequelAntagonist: As a post-game BonusBoss and TheLeader of an antagonistic organization who has the power of LightEmUp, Sirius is definitely in the tradition of ''Battle Network 3'''s Serenade. Unlike his predecessor, however, Sirius is a villain and an aggressor, while Serenade was an ally and guardian.

** As a personal assistant dedicated to their partner's advancement, she also contrasts with Ice, who was a PoisonousFriend to her partner.

* PoisonousFriend: Ice has always been devoted to her human partner Belle, but her perception of anything that didn't advance Belle's career as a threat (''e.g.'' Sonia being more famous) caused more problems than it solved. As Diamond Ice, her new superpowers and lack of inhibition take this FromBadToWorse. She gets better following her HeelRealization.
