* BitchInSheepsClothing: At first she seems like a strict but fair landlady, then we realize she's anything but.
* ControlFreak: Has a strict curfew for her residents and insists that no gentlemen callers are allowed above the first floor.
* CrankyLandlord: Strictly controls the schedules of the girls in her boarding house and forbids men higher than the first floor.
* FemaleMisogynist: She treats her tenants (all grown women with jobs) like particularly dim children, because she doesn't believe they're capable of knowing what's best for them. She also seems to believe that once a lady ''has'' compromised her virtue, she's unworthy of basic respect.
* GrandeDame: Not an aristocrat, but she's very concerned with respectability and a bit of a snob as well, and she has the overbearing attitude.
* HiddenDepths: She tries to bring up UsefulNotes/SigmundFreud to rationalize her oppressive rules.
* {{Hypocrite}}: Despite knowing who Sigmund Freud is, she claims its "unbecoming" of a lady to know about him.
* {{Jerkass}}: At breakfast she publicly humiliates a tenant who had a gentleman caller in her room and evicts her on the spot, to serve as an example to the others.
* JerkassHasAPoint: She forbids men above the first floor of the Griffith because she believes women cannot control their sexual urges until they are married or reach a certain age. She's pretty nasty about this, but when Peggy sneaks Howard into the building, he quickly becomes ''acquainted'' with many of the residents, and he implies that this is not his first time at the Griffith Hotel. She was also AccidentallyAccurate in keeping Mr. Mink from seeing Peggy, not that it stopped him from breaking in.

* SatelliteCharacter: Is only relevant to the story as Peggy's landlady. Once Peggy moves out, she ceases to be important and stops appearing.
* SingleIssueLandlord: Basically one rule and that rule is "no men above the first floor ever".

Added DiffLines:

* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: Said almost word-for-word when Jeri asks why Wendy married her, knowing she was a ruthless bitch. She was a bitch to everyone, ''except'' Wendy. Later on, Pam says something similar.
* BreakTheCutie: She was once a devoted and (apparently) loving wife, and then she found out her partner was cheating on her with a much younger and prettier woman, flat out didn't love her anymore, and sent a superpowered "thug" to serve her the divorce papers. [[spoiler: And then her ex-wife literally brings Kilgrave to her door.]]
* FootDraggingDivorcee: She demands a portion of Jeri's assets in the divorce, and won't sign the divorce papers without a settlement.
* TraumaCongaLine: [[spoiler: It's hard not to feel sorry for Wendy after everything she's put through, and the way she dies.]]
* YouNeverDidThatForMe: Defied. Jeri tries repeating the same romantic gestures she used with Wendy on her new squeeze, Pam, but Wendy calls her out on this ''in front of Pam'' and lets the latter know she's getting a "leftover romance."

* TheBroCode: Gender-flipped. Her previous best friend abruptly left her after getting married, so Angie is distrustful of friends who appear to be dating. At times she raises suspicion about Jarvis, but Peggy reassures her that they're just business partners.
* DeadpanSnarker: She always has a sarcastic remark ready.
-->'''Dottie:''' ''[about the boarding house]'' This place is pretty swell, huh? Seems like one big happy family.\\
'''Angie:''' That wears off.
* DemotedToExtra: Her role had to be significantly reduced in Season 2 as Fonseca got a role on another show.

* TheNicknamer: She calls Peggy "English," refers to Jarvis as "Mr Fancy," and calls Dottie "Iowa."
* TheNotLoveInterest: Fulfills several of the roles typical of love interests in action, spy, and superhero films. She gets annoyed when the hero's double-life keeps them from spending time together, provides Peggy with emotional support after [[spoiler:Ray is killed]], and helps Peggy [[spoiler:escape from the SSR agents hunting her without ever questioning her innocence]].
* PutOnABus: Inverted; The rest of the cast (and the show itself) hopped a bus to LA, leaving Angie behind.
* SheReallyCanAct: In-universe. We first see Angie practicing for an audition, but her line reading is fairly stiff. All her previous auditions went badly too, and Angie seriously considers quitting acting and going into secretary school. When she needs to distract the SSR, though, Angie wills herself to turn on the waterworks and burst into tears over a fake anecdote about her grandma, making the agents too uncomfortable to keep questioning her. * ActionSurvivor: She barely survives the murder attempt in a jail by clawing at Farnum's eyes hard enough to draw blood from one of them. Later, [[spoiler:Wesley underestimates just how far she'd be willing to go to protect her friends and family, and she steals his gun and empties it into him.]]
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Outwardly kind and compassionate, but physically attacking her is a ''very'' bad idea. [[spoiler:Four times in the first season, she was physically attacked. Only half of those times did someone else save her. The other two times, [[DamselOutOfDistress she saved herself.]] On all four occasions, she made her attackers '''suffer'''.]]
* BilingualBonus: Inverted. She claims to be able to translate for Mrs. Cardenas and the other Hispanics because she remembers her "high school Spanish". But the amount of Spanish she's able to understand, successfully translate, and speak is downright ''fluent''. That is ''well'' beyond the standards of Spanish taught at most American high schools. If that wasn't intentional on the creators' part, it's a rare case of Research Failure where the [[ShownTheirWork research shown]] is actually ''too'' good and accurate for how much the character knows.
* BreakTheCutie: A lot of horrific things happen to her, starting from day one. And in all likelihood, it's not about to stop any time soon.
* TheCharmer: It's noted that she has a tendency to bat her "big blue eyes" at people and convince them to help her. She's about as good at it as Matt and Foggy, who are, you'll recall, ''lawyers''.
* TheCutie: The picture of her that Foggy uses as her contact photo on his phone is possibly the cutest thing in the entire MCU.
* CryCute: In episode 9 of season 1, she cries after hearing [[spoiler: Mrs. Cardenas is dead]] - but her [[http://www.theothermurdockpapers.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/KarenCryingEp9.png crying face]] is one of the most beautiful in the MCU, while still conveying massive amounts of grief.
* CrusadingLawyer: Karen's just the secretary rather than one of the attorneys, but the plot ultimately treats her as equal to them in this regard. Indeed, the plotline of investigating and exposing Fisk through the law and the press is more hers than either Matt's or Foggy's.
* DamselOutOfDistress: Karen doesn't have Matt's fighting skills and needs to be rescued at times, but what she lacks in power, she makes up for in determination and ingenuity.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: There's implied to be ''something'' in her past, which Ben Urich managed to dig up. One of the reasons she pushes Ben so hard [[spoiler: to write and publish the piece that details how Fisk killed his father]] is that she believes that she can't go public with any kind of story herself. Karen implies that whatever Ben dug up about her past makes her an unreliable witness... and Ben seems to silently agree. [[spoiler:And right before she kills Wesley, she says,]] "Do you really think this is the first time I've ever shot someone?"
* DarkSecret: At the end of the season, no one else knows [[spoiler:that she's the one who killed [[TheDragon Wesley.]]]]
* {{Determinator}}: Karen refuses to let go of the investigation no matter how many other people try to convince her otherwise and no matter the personal cost.
* {{Deuteragonist}}: While Matt takes on Fisk as Daredevil, Karen brings together other allies and determinedly chases down evidence against him the old fashioned way. They only find out they're WorkingTheSameCase well into the season.
* TheDogBitesBack: [[spoiler: Kills Wesley when he abducts and threatens her, in the third attempt on her life that Fisk's men have made.]]
* DrowningMySorrows: [[spoiler:After killing Wesley, she spends several hours drinking every piece of alcohol in her apartment. Matt and Foggy notice, but don't know why.]] In fact, the ShownTheirWork below implies she might do this quite a lot.
* {{Frameup}}: She's introduced being framed for murdering a co-worker thanks to her attempt at whistle-blowing.
* GenreBlind: She's quite naive at first about how dangerous going after her former employers will be, until Urich sets her straight. Played straight again later in the season, when [[spoiler: she fails to consider what Fisk will do when he learns that she and Urich found and spoke with Fisk's mother. Namely, he decides to murder Ben for his temerity. She also tricked Ben into going with her, telling him that they were going to a hospice that might be good for Ben's Alzheimer's-suffering wife, meaning he didn't even know what he was getting into until he had already started speaking with Fisk's mother, and by then it was too late for him to save himself.]]
* HeKnowsTooMuch: It's why she was framed and why TheSyndicate keep trying to kill or discredit her.
* HotScoop: Joins the New York Bulletin at the end of season two, following the closure of Nelson & Murdock.
* IntergenerationalFriendship: With Ben Urich, who becomes a mix between a mentor and a friend to her.
** Forms another one with Ellison in season 2.
* IntrepidReporter: In season 2, she works with Ellison to investigate Frank Castle, he is so impressed with her investigatory skills that he hires her.
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: [[spoiler:By the end of Season 1, she's the only surviving member of the good guys to still not know Matt's secret. This ends in the Season 2 finale]]
* LoveInterest: For Foggy and with Matt in the season 1 finale and season 2.
* MakeItLookLikeAnAccident: What would have happened to her in prison, if she hadn't gone for Farnum's eyes and then screamed.
* MsFanservice: Gets a few scenes of undress, especially a gratuitous one in the pilot.
* MoralityPet: To the Punisher in Season 2; his fondness for her clearly goes beyond a simple refusal to harm civilians, and he is always polite and sincere with her.
* NiceGirl: A strong morality with this woman and she's also nice to those around her, such as respecting Elena's dislike of swearing.
* NeutralFemale: She averts it. After what happened to her at Union Allied she becomes feverishly devoted to exposing Fisk and ending corruption in Hell's Kitchen, single-handedly pushing Foggy and Ben into helping her uncover Fisk's secrets and expose him. [[spoiler:She ends up feeling guilty later on about Ben though, since she's blames herself for pushing Ben into writing about Fisk and therefore his death]], but it doesn't stop her from fighting on.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: Really great job bringing Urich to that hospice upstate, Karen. Really great job. [[spoiler: There, she and Ben found and spoke to Fisk's mother, which Fisk learned about and decided to murder Ben for.]]
* SecretKeeper: [[spoiler: Until the end of season two, she's the only one who knows that Frank Castle is still alive.]]
** [[spoiler: Finally becomes one for Matt after he reveals his secret identity to her.]]
* SexySecretary: Both Matt and Foggy are attracted to her.
* ShownTheirWork: Late in series 1, Karen's shown to be functional after a night of drinking so bad that Foggy remarks that he stopped drinking the night before, while Karen smells like a distillery. [[spoiler: Later that morning, Wesley has Karen kidnapped and sedated. Rather than physically bind her, Wesley relies on her drugged state to protect him, a fatal error since chronic alcoholics have resistance to sedatives.]]
* StatuesqueStunner: In addition to being breathtakingly beautiful, at 5' 10'' she’s by far the tallest female character on the show.
* SurvivorGuilt:
** Karen's bordering on obsessive pursuit of taking down the mastermind behind Union Allied (which turns out to be Fisk) is because she's desperate to find justice for Daniel Fisher - the nice guy who worked in Legal, who died because she asked him for advice on that weird file.
** After killing Wesley, and being indirectly responsible for [[spoiler:getting Ben Urich killed]] it only increases.
** In season 2 it's strongly hinted that the reason she is so convinced Frank is a good person is because she needs to believe it's possible to be a good person after killing people.
* UnkemptBeauty: Still attractive even with police issue clothes, messy hair, and reddened eyes from crying.
* WideEyedIdealist: Undoubtedly the most idealistic of all the characters and this manifests in her determinator style dedication to bringing down people like Fisk. It's dangerous, it doesn't pay well but it needs happen because Fisk is a dangerous criminal. [[spoiler: Subverted all through season 2, from the crumbling friendship between Foggy and Matt to convincing herself that Frank could be a good person after all the pain he's caused. By the end of Season 2, with the firm dismantled and The Punisher confirming her fear that he is too far gone to be saved.]]

* BewareTheNiceOnes: Despite looking like a pushover, he's willing to stand up and deliver a TheReasonYouSuck speech to bullies.
* BromanticFoil: ZigZaggedTrope. Foggy comes across as a [[GoldFever money-obsessed]] UnluckyEveryDude, and LovableCoward compared to the morally-upright, ChickMagnet, and [[TheStoic stoic]] Matt, and is often used as comic relief. In later episodes ([[spoiler:especially after his and Matt's falling out)]], it's revealed that he's not quite any of those things. Under the right conditions, Foggy is far more selfless, attractive, and brave than the average person. However, he still fits this trope in comparison to Matt, so he acts as a competent foil.

A New York District Attorney determined to see Frank Castle dead.
----
* AmoralAttorney: In contrast with Matt and Foggy, Reyes is ready to go through anything, including illegal measures, to advance her career.
* AscendedExtra: Has one scene in the last episode of ''Jessica Jones'' but is a supporting character in the second season of ''Daredevil''.
* BigBadWannabe: She is an AmoralAttorney in position of power who wishes to become mayor and promote a struggle against vigilantes like Daredevil, the Punisher or Jessica Jones, making it seem like she will be a major player. However, in the end she is completely overshadowed by other, bigger villains, and [[spoiler:ends up gunned down by the Blacksmith's assassins before she can fully accomplish her ambitions]].
* BreakTheHaughty: [[spoiler: After Frank's escape from prison, the next (and last) time Reyes is seen, she's understandably terrified out of her wits.]]
* ChronicBackstabbingDisorder: Apparently has a reputation of regularly throwing her associates to the wolves if this can help her reach her goals. [[spoiler:This is used against her by Karen, who manages to convince Blake Tower to help her by pointing out she will probably backstab him at some point.]]
* DarkSecret: [[spoiler: She admits that the massacre that took Frank Castle's family was in fact a sting operation that went awry. An operation that she let happen, despite the presence of civilians. Since then, she's been trying to have Frank killed so that the truth would die with him.]]
* EarlyBirdCameo: She appeared in the season finale for ''Series/JessicaJones2015'' before her proper introduction in Daredevil's Season 2.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Her ''one'' redeeming quality seems to be that she genuinely cares about her family. [[spoiler:When Castle escapes jail, one of her last actions before being killed is to have her daughter moved outside New York to protect her.]]
* FamousLastWords: [[spoiler:Just before she gets gunned down by the Blacksmith's men.]]
-->'''Reyes:''' [[spoiler: Look, I... I know what I have done but please. I don't give a shit about my job anymore. I just want to keep my family safe.]]
* GoneHorriblyRight: [[spoiler: From a certain point of view, her sting operation did eventually (and indirectly) lead to the downfall of the Blacksmith. Just not remotely in the way she would have wanted and at cost of her own life. To wit: the disastrous operation caused the death ofFrank Castle's family, pushing him to become the Punisher and hunt down all those responsible for their deaths. For added irony, while Reyes is murdered by the Blacksmith to silence her, Castle ends up unwittingly avenging her death by killing the Blacksmith at the end.]]
* HateSink: Smug, vindicative, frequently abusing her power, ready to do anything (including endangering other people's lives) to preserve her career, and trying to make her way to the town hall by by promoting a struggle against vigilantes (including people like Daredevil and Jessica Jones), she comes out as designed to be as unlikable as possible.
* IvyLeagueForEveryone: She wears a Fordham Law (one of the "Catholic Ivies") sweatshirt at one point, implying she graduated from there.
* LaserGuidedKarma: [[spoiler:She indirectly was responsible for the death of Castle's family because of her carelessness, and spends most of the season trying to get Frank executed, or at least sentenced to life prison, just to cover up her own mistake. In the end, all of her actions just allow the Blacksmith (the very drug lord she was trying to catch by putting the Castle family at risk) to have her gunned down by killers, while putting the blame on the Punisher after he escaped from jail.]]
* {{Jerkass}}: Hoo, boy. Reyes is a smug, self-satisfied and politically-motivated corrupt hell-beast. She is very easy to dislike and even her own assistant doesn't have any flattering things to say about her.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: She's usually seen wearing a power suit and a smug, self-satisfied bitchy smirk. [[spoiler:She's wearing a Fordham Law hoodie and jeans in her last appearance, as well as being scared out of her life.]]
* ProperlyParanoid: Played with. [[spoiler:As soon as she learns that Frank has escaped, she barricades herself in her office, believing that he's going to come after her. Though she does get gunned down, it's not Frank that pulls the trigger.]]
* PyrrhicVillainy: [[spoiler:Technically, she ''does'' succeed at getting Castle sent to jail and covering up the DarkSecret threatening her career... however, Castle escapes barely a few days later, and she is gunned down soon after, making the salvation of her job pointless.]]

* TheAtoner: Kilgrave brainwashed him into trying to kill Tricia.
* AxCrazy: A side effect of Kozlov's treatment after the explosion set off by [[spoiler: Kilgrave's bomb]] nearly kills him.
* {{Badass}}: Utilizing his training in the Special Forces, he manages to nearly kill Trish despite her extensive self-defense training. When attacked by Kilgrave's bodyguards, he manages to handle multiple opponents.
* BlackAndWhiteMorality: A source of conflict between him and Jessica, whose moral compass isn't as cut and dry as his own.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: He's introduced trying to kill Trish under Kilgrave's influence, and it takes a good deal of effort to win her trust after he's released from it.
* BoomHeadshot: [[spoiler: He shoots Clemmons in the head at the "sin bin" Kilgrave was held in, and then two of Kozlov's associates when they come to take him in]].
* CanonCharacterAllAlong: Given his name change, it wasn't immediately apparent that Will Simpson would be based on previous Marvel characters. [[spoiler: It is eventually revealed that he is MCU's version of Nuke, aka ''Frank'' Simpson.]]
* ChekhovsGunman: When he first appears, he's just some random cop Kilgrave pulled off the street and ordered to kill Trish and then himself. After Jessica saves them, Simpson unexpectedly returns to Trish's place on his day off to make amends, and the two begin a relationship and he vows revenge against Kilgave with his unique resources. It's unknown if Kilgrave was aware of Simpson's background when he enslaved him.
* ChronicHeroSyndrome: He wants to save people. When he can't, things go bad.
* ComicBookMoviesDontUseCodenames: Especially given his name change, it isn't immediately apparent that he's the MCU version of [[spoiler: the Daredevil villain Nuke, right down to the pills that give him super powers]], until he utters the character's (in)famous catchphrase of [[spoiler: demanding "Reds."]] After that, the Captain America parallels become much clearer.
* CoolCar: Has an absolutely gorgeous classic Cutlass.
* CompositeCharacter: While he is mostly based on the [[spoiler: Marvel supervillain Nuke, he also has elements of another minor villain, Mad Dog. Like Mad Dog, he is a soldier that gains superpowers due to working with a shady corporation. Both characters also had a romantic relationship with Patricia Walker that turned violent. He also bears some resemblance to SHIELD agent Clay Quartermain, an ally of Jessica Jones in the comic book]]
** He also bears elements of [[spoiler: replacement Captain Americas William Burnside (the '50s Cap and Grand Director) and John Walker (later the US Agent). As with both, he's a modern special operator with a very similar appearance to Steve Rogers, and a do-good approach. And both have SanitySlippage and become {{Anti Villain}}s. Specifically to Burnside, that switch comes from Simpson experiencing a PsychoSerum and mind control. Specific to Walker, his SanitySlippage is triggered by being unable to save people.]]
* EmpoweredBadassNormal: Takes a combination of SuperSerum and PsychoSerum to match Jessica in strength and toughness.
* EvilCounterpart: In a way, he's a much darker version of Steve Rogers: A clean-cut, wants-to-do-good former military man, even sporting a similar hairstyle. Except unlike Steve, [[spoiler: when he gets exposed to enhancing drugs, he turns into a rampaging lunatic.]]
* FaceHeelTurn: He's more or less on the side of good when introduced, but he starts to go off the deep end after [[spoiler: taking Dr. Kozlov's drugs.]]
* FairCop: He's a cop and has quite a few shirtless scenes.
* FeelNoPain: Thanks to his pills. Thanks to this, he doesn't notice he burned himself disposing of Clemmons's body, and so doesn't cover it up, which gives Jessica an additional clue that he's gone off the reservation.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: When bonding with Trish, he tells her a story where as a kid he played rescue with a GI-Joe and his sister's Barbie doll. He got a bit too gung-ho, and in the end his sister's Barbie Playhouse was literally in flames -- but at least the rescue was successful! It's a funny story at the time, but [[spoiler: it directly foreshadows his later descent into madness and trail of destruction in his attempts to kill Kilgrave and protect Trish -- which even includes him setting the heroes' headquarters on fire.]]
* FriendOnTheForce: Jessica is able to get his help in tracking Kilgrave's spy.
* {{Irony}}: Will's motivations in Season 1 boil down to [[spoiler: trying to protect Trish,]] but three of the closest brushes she has with death have him as a strong factor.
** [[spoiler: Their first encounter is when he is Kilgraved into visiting Trish over a possible assault charge involving a fan. To borrow the LAPD's motto, he is a police officer that is supposed to serve and protect, and nearly strangled her to death.]]
** [[spoiler: He gives her an unregistered gun to protect herself from danger and later encourages her to use it to kill Kilgrave. She nearly does, but empties her gun before she can deliver a kill shot. He then orders her to put a bullet in her head. Trish only survives because the gun was empty, and fought the command by hitting her head with a bullet instead of reloading.]]
** [[spoiler: Will goes back into a supersoldier program he was a former member of, in order to use their drugs to take care of Kilgrave. He goes off the deep end and attempts to kill Jessica, while trying to keep Trish out of the equation. However, Trish steals his pills, and takes them to help Jessica fight Will off. The pills nearly kill her before an EMT injects her with a counter to stimulant drugs.]]
* ItsPersonal: The fact that Kilgrave used him to attempt to murder Trish and [[spoiler: was behind the death of two of his old friends]] is at least partly the reason why he wants to kill him so badly.
* LastNameBasis: Nobody ever refers to him by his first name, only ever calling him "Simpson."
* MrFanservice: He [[ShirtlessScene shows off his body]] in a few scenes.
* MurderIsTheBestSolution: He is strongly in favor of just straight up killing Kilgrave, rather than trying to bring him in alive. [[spoiler: Come the finale, he's proved right.]]
* MythologyGag: His casual clothes and hairstyle are nearly identical to Steve Rogers off duty look in ''Film/CaptainAmericaTheWinterSoldier.'' [[spoiler: It serves as a reference to his comic counterpart, who was an attempt to make a new Captain America in the 1960's.]]
* PlotArmor: He survives a bomb explosion with few injuries while [[spoiler: his two friends who were behind him don't.]]
* PoisonousFriend: To Trish. While it seems at first that he's a decent guy, he rapidly becomes unstable in his determination to protect her. [[spoiler: By the end, a combination of PTSD from Killgrave's mind control and combat medication drives him completely insane, killing a police officer and attempting to kill Jessica]]. He still never stops caring about Trish.
* PsychoSerum: The pills given to Simpson [[spoiler:by Kozlov]] send him into a bloody rage.
* PragmaticHero: He thinks that Jessica should just murder Kilgrave and be done with this whole nightmare, despite the potential harm this could do to Kilgrave's victims.
* SanitySlippage: He never truly recovers [[spoiler: from Kilgrave ordering him to kill Trish in his first appearance. He is fixated with protecting her and Jessica from Kilgrave, but he becomes increasingly obsessed with killing him. At first his intentions are good and his methods just seem overly pragmatic, but when those fail he eventually takes "combat enhancers" that exacerbate his obsession and make him violently delusional, which leads to him going on a killing spree.]]
* StalkerWithACrush: While his attraction to Trish is initially mutual, [[spoiler: she starts to wean herself off him when he goes off the rails and assaults her]].
* SirNotAppearingInThisTrailer: Doesn't feature very prominently in any of the pre-release promotional materials. [[spoiler: Cleverly averted in the story trailer. He appears in silhouette, but given Jessica's voice over of the shot and the fact that he doesn't appear anywhere else, one would be forgiven for thinking that the shot was of Kilgrave instead. The shot only appears in the show right after Simpson's FaceHeelTurn.]]
* VerbalTic: [[spoiler: A fairly minor one, but under the influence of the combat-enhancing 'Reds', he occasionally will repeat a word or phrase twice in quick succession, usually when trying to lie.]]
* WouldHitAGirl: Justified in that he's typically under the influence of something that overrides his natural temperament when attacking Trish and Jessica.

* BaldOfEvil: Hoffman
* BeardOfEvil: Blake has a Kilgrave-esque five 'o clock shadow
* ChekhovsGunman: [[spoiler:After not being mentioned for several episodes, Hoffman comes back in a big way in the Season 1 finale.]]
* DirtyCop: They kill a Russian criminal in the interrogation room for saying Fisk's name and make it look like the criminal jumped Hoffman. They later are among the dirty cops sent to kill the survivors of Fisk's bombings.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: [[spoiler:They care for each other, having a genuine friendship. Hoffman is plagued with guilt and doubt when Fisk pays him to kill Blake, since they've known each other for over 35 years.]]
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Even before their revelation as DirtyCops, it's clear that they're not the nicest people with the way they handle Karen's case. Blake even threatens to "kick the shit out of" Matt, a blind man, for taking a defiant tone with him.
* {{Jerkass}}: Aren't very cordial with Matt and Foggy and repeatedly mock Urich for his declining reputation.
* KillerCop: Besides their murder of the Russian in the interrogation room, they also execute the Russians that survived the bombings
* LivingMacGuffin: [[spoiler:Hoffman becomes this in the season's final episode, a crucial piece of evidence fought over by Fisk, Owlsley, and Murdock. Murdock wins, and Hoffman's confession brings down Fisk's empire.]]
* MistreatmentInducedBetrayal: First hinted when Hoffman asks Fisk how long it'll be before he does something to piss Fisk off and need to be killed just like Blake. This allows [[spoiler:Owlsley to keep him hidden as a bargaining chip and later be threatened by the masked man into turning state's evidence.]]
* SickbedSlaying: What Hoffman is forced to do to Blake.
* ThoseTwoBadGuys: They seem to enjoy doing their dirty work together and are quite are found of sharing darkly humorous quips about it.
* YouHaveFailedMe: Fisk tries to have Blake killed for revealing crucial information to the Devil of Hell's Kitchen, framing him in the process. It doesn't quite take and Hoffman is sent in to finish the job.
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: Hoffman becomes a liability after Blake dies, doubtless bitter over having to kill his partner and Fisk's role in it, so Fisk tries to off him as well before he can cause any damage. ----
* CoolOldGuy: An older reporter who's considered a living legend in Hell's Kitchen, with good reason.
* DeathByAdaptation: [[spoiler:His comics counterpart is alive and well.]]
* IntrepidReporter: He rubs shoulders with crime lords to get the scoop. He used to be more intrepid in his younger years.
* KnightInSourArmor: In his prime, Ben was a crusading reporter who singlehandedly brought down corrupt institutions wherever he saw them. He still is, but he deeply regrets the mistakes he's made along the way, is a lot more jaded about the way the world works and isn't the idealist he once was: to the point where he actively discourages others from doing what he does.
* TheLastDJ: Still believes in reporting the news that people need to hear, instead of the news they want to hear, unlike seemingly everyone else at the New York Bulletin.

----
* CanonForeigner: He was created because during production, Marvel Studios didn't have the rights to Franchise/SpiderMan yet and hence, neither J. Jonah Jameson nor the Daily Bugle could be used.
* CharacterDevelopment: In Season 2, he's far more helpful towards Karen's investigation and willing to investigate the truth, [[SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute conveniently filling in]] for the now-late Ben Urich.
* DaEditor: To Urich's (and later Karen's) IntrepidReporter.
* DeadpanSnarker: It's more pronounced in Season 2, but he's always been a snarker.
* EtTuBrute: Urich accuses Ellison of being paid off by Fisk and ensuring that his remaining career is limited to fluff pieces. After Urich's death, Karen angrily confides in Matt that Ellison shouldn't have even been at Urich's funeral pretending to be his friend. The arrests, however, prove he's not complicit.
* TheMentor: Becomes this for Karen Page, filling in the void left by Urich's death.
* PetTheDog: For all his griping over keeping the paper lucrative in wake of the rise of social media, he's also concerned with Urich's wellbeing and that of his wife. Though it is soured by the fact that it sometimes comes across as CondescendingCompassion.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Mitchell can initially come across as a moronic jerk who cares only about readership; in reality he's a sharply intelligent journalist who cares deeply about the reporters who work for him and believes in the value of the press.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: He's trying his best to keep the NY Bulletin in business in the face of online media and the growing disinterest in important stories. This brings him into conflict with Ben.
* RedHerring: After it is hinted he may be Fisk's mole in the newspaper, it turns out it was not him but Caldwell.
* TookALevelInKindness: Season 1 depicted him as rather unsympathetic as a way to set him as a RedHerring for Fisk's mole inside the Bulletin. When Karen approaches him in season 2, he is much more helpful, genuinely shows concern for her and expresses regret about Urich's death.

-->''"The real world is not about happy endings. It's about taking the life you have, and fighting like hell to keep it."''

A name partner attorney at Hogarth Chao & Benowitz LLP and recurring client of Alias Investigations.
----
* AdaptationalAttractiveness: Carrie-Anne Moss is more of a looker than Jeri's comic counterpart, a shlubby middle-aged man.
* AdaptationalPersonalityChange: Though he could be a jerk, Jeryn Hogarth was a relatively NiceGuy who looked out for [[ImmortalIronFist Danny,]] was loyal to him and his friends, and was a highly moral figure. Jeri, on the otherhand, is considerably less moral, cheats on her wife, engages in criminal behaviour and [[spoiler: betrays Jess to Kilgrave ''without'' Kilgrave using his powers on her, resulting in three people's deaths.]] The latter events seem to shake her considerably though, and she seems to be going through CharacterDevelopment by the end, so she'll likely be more like Jeryn in time for ''Iron Fist.''
* AdaptationalSexuality: Played with. Jeryn's a straight male in the comics, while Jeri is lesbian here. Ultimately, they're both characters attracted to women.
* AdmiringTheAbomination: When faced with a room full of people detailing their horrifying encounters with Kilgrave, she's more impressed than anything.
* AmoralAttorney: She's willing to hire a clearly unstable Jessica Jones as a PI (even wants to bring her in-house); why would anyone be surprised that she'd try [[spoiler: and take advantage of Kilgrave's powers?]] Even her girlfriend / mistress ends up disgusted with her.
* TheCameo: [[spoiler: She makes an appearance in ''Series/Daredevil2015'' to hire Foggy Nelson.]]
* CharacterTic: She always answers "It's complicated" when she's being untruthful or dodgy.
* DeathOfAThousandCuts: [[spoiler: What Kilgrave orders her wife to do to her.]]
* EvilIsNotAToy: She attempts to [[spoiler: use Kilgrave's power first through his fetus and then through the man himself. The lesson is learned when Kilgrave almost has her murdered by her wife.]]
* GenderFlip: Her comic book version, ''Jeryn'' Hogarth, was male.
* ItsAllAboutMe: Jeri's primary concern will always be to make sure she comes out on top. Not even people she actually cares for are save from being sent up the river.
* {{Jerkass}}: One of the most unpleasent people in the series.
* JustThinkOfThePotential: Her reaction to Kilgrave when Jessica begins to enlighten her about his powers. [[spoiler: It's also {{Foreshadowing}}: Jeri thinks she can control the danger posed by Kilgrave, and attempts to use him for her own ends.]]
* LastNameBasis: Jessica always calls her Hogarth, while everyone else sticks with Jeri.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: As a result of her trying to [[spoiler: use Kilgrave for her own ends, she's nearly murdered and Wendy ends up dead, killed by Pam in an effort to protect Jeri. Jeri's left bleeding from several wounds and staring at her wife's corpse, horrified at what she's caused.]]
* PoisonousFriend: "Friend" is stretching her relationship with Jessica, but they are ostensibly allies. Hogarth has no compunctions about doing abusive or amoral things to win, and she continuously says callous or toxic remarks about the traumatic situations Kilgrave puts people through. And then there's [[spoiler: what she does later...]]
* PyrrhicVictory: The divorce ends in her favor, but it also leaves [[spoiler: Wendy dead, with Pam arrested for the murder and refusing to have anything more to do with Jeri.]]

* EveryoneHasStandards: She's has no problem dating Jeri while Jeri's still married to Wendy, but even she thought Jeri taking her on a date to the restaurant where she proposed to Wendy was insensitive.
* IconicOutfit: She is almost always seen wearing very loud wrap around, patterned dresses. Jessica even mocks her for it.
-->'''Pam:''' She won't wait. She wouldn't listen.
-->'''Jessica:''' I couldn't hear you over that print.
* MoralityPet: Plays this role to Jeri. Subverted that while she does have standards, she does encourage Jeri's more ruthless side.
* TheMistress: Jeri's wife isn't too happy to discover their affair.
* MsFanservice: Tends to wear low-cut dresses at work.
* RaisedCatholic: PlayedForLaughs. She notes she's Catholic as her only excuse for not accepting [[RefugeInAudacity Jeri's wedding proposal before the divorce from Wendy]].
* SexySecretary: Hard to blame Jeri for being tempted.
* SleepingWithTheBoss: She's in a relationship with Jeri, her boss.
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: She encourages Jeri to be a bit more cutthroat in dealing with her divorce, having no idea that [[spoiler: Jeri has access to an imprisoned Kilgrave]], let alone that she would [[spoiler: help him escape just so he can expedite her divorce.]]
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: She's arrested for [[spoiler: Wendy's]] murder and her fate isn't elaborated on in the season finale, and while she does kinda have a credible self-defense justification, the fact she doesn't have a bunch of witnesses like Jessica ends up having and the fact she wants absolutely nothing to do with the one witness that could defend her certainly don't help.
* YouCanAlwaysTellALiar: She knows when Jeri is lying, because she always answers "It's complicated" when she's being untruthful or dodgy. [[spoiler: This comes back to bite Jeri ''hard'' when Pam is arrested for Wendy's death.]]

* BookDumb: Acknowledges himself as only good for his fists, and thus pushes Matt to try hard in school so he doesn't end up like him.
* DeathByOriginStory: His death is a major part of Matt's backstory.
* TheDeterminator: Matt got the trait from him. He never was knocked out in the ring.
* FaceDeathWithDignity: He faces his impending demise with no fear, knowing that his son had got to hear the crowd cheer for him one last time.
* FatalFlaw: Pride. He knew fully well that not throwing the match would have fatal results, but he wanted his son to be proud of him, at least once.
* HeroicSacrifice: He decides not to go down in the fifth as ordered to so that his son can hear the crowd cheering for him one more time. He is predictably killed for it.
* IJustWantToBeSpecial: Stick suggests that Jack was at least partly motivated in his sacrifice to earn respect and glory for the first time in his life. The fact that Jack stops in his escape from the gym changing room to soak in the crowd's cheering suggests it played a part.
* {{Jobber}}: Took falls for a living.

A somewhat mentally challenged craftsman, with a talent for making light-weight armor, in the forced employ of Wilson Fisk.
----
* AdaptationalHeroism: Where as in the comics Melvin started out as a supervillain, here he's a innocent soul who's forced to work for Fisk and gladly helps out Matt when given an alternative.
* {{Badass}}: Melvin proves to be a very physical threat when he attacks Matt for breaking into his workshop, being strong enough to throw him around like a ragdoll. He also demonstrates decent aim and a killer throwing arm when he hurls a buzz-saw with deadly force at Matt's head.
* BaldOfEvil: Subverted; initially he seems to be another bad bald guy, but he's really a vulnerable, mentally ill fellow being forced to work for Fisk due to Fisk threatening the life of his friend Betsy Beatty.
* TheBlacksmith: A modern day equivalent; He's incredibly good at making custom armor. [[spoiler:He even ends up creating Daredevil's Billy Club.]]
* CharacterizationMarchesOn: Seems far more in control of his faculties in season 2, now that he isn't getting pressured by Fisk or withheld his medication. He also has a better understanding of how dangerous associating himself with Daredevil is and doesn't trust him blindly.
* DumbassNoMore: Without the stress of working under Fisk's threats he is not as fragile mentally as in Season 1 where he started sobbing when Daredevil defeated him. He even guessed right that the Punisher did not kill Matt on purpose and can even snark at him.
-->'''Matt:''' I'm not a criminal, Melvin.\\
'''Potter:''' You don't have a badge, either.
* ForcedIntoEvil: Wilson Fisk has forced him to make armoured suits for him by threatening someone he deeply cares for. He dislikes working for Fisk and otherwise wouldn't be involved with him.
-->'''Daredevil:''' So you do work for Fisk.\\
'''Potter:''' I said no, when he asked. Said no, Betsy wouldn't like it. She wants me to be good. I gotta be good. So I, I make things. I'm good at making things.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: Is wearing the Gladiator suit underneath his shirt.
** Also has a poster of roman gladiators on his wall.
* GenreSavvy: He might not be the brightest bulb on the tree in all things, but when people hint he'll be getting his stuff back scratch-free... he gives the distinct impression of knowing damn well he got stuck with Q's job, including with its piecemeal returns policy in the contract.

->''"Few things are absolute, Matthew. Even Lucifer was once an angel. It's why justice and vengeance are best left to God."''

A local Catholic priest who takes Matt's confession.
----
* BeliefMakesYouStupid: Inverted. When Lantom was in seminary, he was among the more skeptical candidates, and questioned the existence of Satan. His doubts were dispelled when he witnessed a particularly horrific murder.
* ConfessInConfidence: He's Matt's first and best outlet for his mixed feelings over his vigilantism, and takes the confessional seal very, very seriously.
* {{Confessional}}: The first shot of the series is of Matt and Father Lantom in the confessional, with Matt attempting to rationalize the vigilante quest he's about to embark upon.
* CoolOldGuy: He's very understanding of Matt's actions, if not entirely accepting, and constantly challenges Matt to question his assumptions, which ends up making him a better Daredevil. He's also something of a father surrogate, representing the moral, Catholic side of Jack Murdock.
* DemotedToExtra: In Season 1, he's a supporting character. In Season 2, he appears in one scene and [[spoiler:his most impactful line was in the trailer]].
* TheDeterminator: He ''will'' get that cup of coffee with Matt. That is, he knew Matt was planning on doing something dangerous, and he was determined to guide him through it.
* GiveMeASign: Unintentionally, but when he worked in Rwanda around the time of the genocide in 1994, he knew a very respected local elder, whom no one would harm. Eventually, the commander of the Hutu militia met with the elder, and they talked for hours. Then the commander hacked the elder ''and his family'' to death in front of the whole village, which Lantom witnessed. He took this as a sign from God that his doubts about the existence and nature of Satan (and, therefore, ultimate evil) were wrong, and that he saw the face of evil in that commander.
* GodIsGood: Lantom believes that God is a fan of ToughLove. Everyone is created for a purpose, a reason for being, and He provides guidance to those seeking it. This purpose may be difficult (just ask the martyrs who died "bloody and alone") and the guidance might be graphic but it's there.
* GodIsFlawed: Lantom is fairly critical of some of God's actions, especially allowing for the existence of evil, which he concludes must have been part of God's plan (since God is omnipotent). He decides that God's reason for allowing evil to exist is to terrify humanity into following "the Path of the Righteous" i.e. become better people. Lantom isn't happy about this, but realizes that God is equally responsible for the good as the bad.
* GoodShepherd: Invites many of his parishioners in for a talk over coffee, including blind vigilantes.
* MoralityChain: Helps convince Matt of his better nature, and prevent him from crossing the line into killing.
* SecretKeeper: [[spoiler:It's mostly because of the seal of confession, but he's one of the few that know of Matt's vigilantism.]]
* SecretSecretKeeper: [[spoiler:He easily figured out that Matt was "the Devil of Hell's Kitchen" from their confessionals, but didn't say anything until Matt was about to reveal the secret.]]

----
* AdaptationalHeroism: While Josie isn't a villain in the Marvel Universe, she is extremely apathetic to the amounts of drugs, weapons, and even worse stuff that her patrons tend to sell or trade at her bar. Here, there is no shady business being conducted (at least, not that we see) and Foggy even takes the time to point out the good people in the bar.
* GoodGuyBar: Josie's Bar is regularly frequented by Matt, Foggy, and Karen. Foggy also points out other patrons such as the guy who arranges the community Thanksgiving meal every year.
* IAteWhat: There may or may not have been an eel in one of her bottles. Foggy and Karen had already hit a few bars before they got to Josie's, so they were already drunk by that point.
* PetTheDog: She's less caustic to Foggy, Matt and Karen when they go out drinking after [[spoiler:Mrs. Cardenas' death]].
* VitriolicBestBuds: She's caustic to both Matt and Foggy, but they helped her out a few times when the city has tried to shut down the bar, so Foggy claims they get to drink there for free (According to Josie they ''definitely'' don't get this privilege.) * AdaptationNameChange: A brief image of his Facebook page shows his last name is Ducasse, instead of his comics name of Malcolm Powder.
* AdaptationPersonalityChange: In the comics, Malcolm is a socially inept, mildly creepy StalkerWithACrush who repeatedly expresses inappropriate thoughts, and writes Daredevil off as a pussy because of his handling of his identity being outed. The show has him as a ''much'' nicer guy with much better social skills, with his creepiness being from his drug use [[spoiler: and is only temporary, before he gets over it]].
* AddledAddict: He's got a drug problem when we first meet him.
* BeneathNotice: No one notices a junkie, even if [[spoiler:he's taking covert pictures of his superpowered neighbor for months.]]
* BreakTheCutie: Kilgrave forced him to become an addict. After Jessica saves his life and helps him get clean, he has a new lease on life and tries to do as much good as he can with the Kilgrave support group. All his attempts to help others go horribly awry, and after a misanthropic speech from Robyn he ultimately crosses the DespairEventHorizon, comes to resent Jessica for a time and nearly leaves town - albeit to a life Jessica believes would have been better for him. After a more uplifting talk with Claire he decides to stay on as Jessica's assistant, though he seemed willing to stick around beforehand.
* DarkerAndEdgier: His counterpart in the ''Alias'' comic mostly served as comic relief; this version of the character has a bit more weight to him.
* DecompositeCharacter: His DoggedNiceGuy tendencies from the comics seem to have been transferred onto Ruben.
* DueToTheDead: Attempted, even when he's throwing a corpse into the harbor.
-->"Bel anteman pa di paradi."[[note]] A beautiful funeral doesn't guarantee heaven.[[/note]]
* GirlFriday: Slides into the role of Jessica's assistant in the last moments of the series, taking her calls and helping her through a HeroicBSOD.
* GoingColdTurkey: One night is all that it takes to break him off his drug addiction. Granted, he started taking them only because Kilgrave was giving him orders to do so in the first place and he's probably fighting the urge daily even when not under Kilgrave's control, but he's mostly clean by the end of the first season.
* NiceGuy: He was planning on getting into social work before he got addicted to drugs. After [[spoiler: Jessica saves him from Kilgrave's control]], he proves to be one of the most altruistic people in the series. He suffers a lot for it, but in the end his good heart won't let him walk away.
* RaceLift: He's white in the comics, but black here.
* RecoveredAddict: Thanks to Jessica's help.
* ScaryBlackMan: {{Invoked|Trope}} by Jessica in one of her more AntiHero moments, where, after Ruben tells her "[[Theatre/AvenueQ everyone is a little racist]]", she pushes a drugged-up Malcolm into a (young, attractive) white nurse at a hospital, causing a scene that allows her sneak into an off-limits area and grabs some drugs she needs to defeat Kilgrave. It obviously doesn't sit well on her conscience, but she saw it as necessary to stop Kilgrave.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: He seems to have a preference for peanut butter.
* UsedToBeASweetKid: From what Jessica's able to dig up, he seemed like a pretty stand-up guy [[spoiler: until Kilgrave recruited him as a spy and got him hooked on drugs]].

Jones' upstairs neighbor and the twin sister of Ruben.
----
* AmbiguousDisorder: Robyn doesn't seem to have complete control over her anger, so she's ''constantly'' screaming at her brother. Plus her general [[ItsAllAboutMe self-centered behavior]].
* BigSisterInstinct: Robyn is very protective of Ruben, stating that she only guards him so fiercely because he is incapable of taking care of himself. Of course, her protectiveness also has quite a bit of IncestSubtext to it.
* CanonForeigner: Neither of the twins seem to be based on anybody from the comics.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: She's prone to bizarre non-sequiturs that she seems to think are common sayings.
* DoubleStandardAbuseFemaleOnMale: Averted; Robyn's emotional, financial, and verbal abuse towards Ruben are treated as ''very'' wrong and she's called out on them, with Jessica physically threatening her to shut up (though, mostly because she's finding the noise annoying), while both Jess and Malcolm seem to view Ruben as TheWoobie. She's still treated sympathetically when [[spoiler: he dies]] and she's left struggling to deal without him in her life though.
* FieryRedhead: A HotBlooded and ill-tempered woman with red hair.
* HappilyFailedSuicide: [[spoiler:Well, given how bitter Robyn is, not that "happy". But surviving a forced self-hanging does make her value her own life.]]
* HumansAreBastards: As she tells Malcolm in "AKA I've Got the Blues," Robyn's life philosophy boils down to "humankind is made of selfish assholes."
* IncestSubtext: With her brother; on top of their rather odd behavior, they act a lot like a couple, which causes many a raised eyebrow when they mention they are twins.
* {{Jerkass}}: Robyn is a rude, self-centered and judgmental misanthrope to anyone within earshot, and even when she's otherwise sympathetic she's still horrible to everyone around her. [[spoiler: This proves negative when she starts rallying Kilgrave's victims against Jessica. She ultimately reveals to Malcolm that she resents herself for being the way she is and believes that Ruben would be disappointed in her.]]
* JerkassHasAPoint: For all her egocentrism, [[spoiler: hearing how her missing brother is casually revealed to be dead and his body dumped by Malcolm during the Kilgrave victim support meeting gives her reason to demand answers from Jessica.]] Jessica herself acknowledges that Robyn is "a very perceptive asshole."
* LivingEmotionalCrutch: Robyn's a ''bit'' too protective of her brother, which Malcolm points out as being ridiculous, given his age.
* TheNicknamer: Robyn constantly nicknames people (mostly in an insulting way).
* RedOniBlueOni: Robyn is the quick-tempered Red to Ruben's more even-tempered Blue.
* SpannerInTheWorks: Once she decides to exact revenge on Jessica, [[spoiler:she releases Kilgrave mistaking him for just another guy Jessica was abusing. Among the bad things that ensue, this backfires on Robyn's face as the ManipulativeBastard makes her nearly hang herself if not for Jessica's intervention...]]

* BrutalHonesty: Ruben appears a little too ''out there'' to properly filter what comes out of his mouth, so he will often say just whatever is on his mind, often resulting in RhetoricalQuestionBlunder and TooMuchInformation.
* CanonForeigner: Neither of the twins seem to be based on anybody from the comics.
* CharacterDeath: Ruben is [[spoiler: killed by Kilgrave]] when the former finds the latter snooping in Jessica's apartment.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Due to his ManChild tendencies.

[[folder:Dr. Samuel Sterns]]
!!''Dr. Samuel Sterns''
[[quoteright:300:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/samuel_sterns_hulk_1617.png]]

->'''Portrayed By''': Tim Blake Nelson
->'''Film Appearances''': ''Film/TheIncredibleHulk''

->''"I've always been more curious than cautious, and that's served me pretty well."''

A scientist who helps Bruce under the moniker "Mr. Blue". Bruce communicates with him wirelessly while in Brazil in hopes of developing a cure for his condition, but necessary ingredients for the formula require him to return to the United States. There, he discovers that Sterns has more than just curing the Hulk on his mind.
----
* AdmiringTheAbomination: Well, not the ''actual'' Abomination, who he's pretty horrified by, but Sterns is in complete awe of Banner as the Hulk, calling it "god-like" and "Olympian", and comparing Bruce to Prometheus giving man fire.
* AdaptationalHeroism: Samuel Sterns is an eccentric and careless, but mostly harmless scientist in this movie who tries to cure Banner, while in the comics, he is one of the more diabolical villains in that universe. The comic tie-in shows he eventually turned evil, so it's more like his origin story than a true morality shift.
* AdaptationalIntelligence: Instead of working at a nuclear facility as a mentally handicapped janitor, he's already a science genius and university professor.
* AlliterativeName: First and last names starts with S.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: He's an odd scientist to be sure.
* CassandraTruth: When Blonsky demands to have the Hulk's blood and gamma radiation applied to him, Sterns argues against it, claiming that the gamma-blood combined with Blonksky's experimental super-serumed body might turn him into "an abomination". Blonsky doesn't care, and holds Sterns at gunpoint to transform him anyway.
* CodeName: Mr. Blue.
* ForScience: Downplayed. While he is fascinated by Hulk blood he is ''thrilled'' by its practical applications.
* {{Keet}}: ''Very'' hyperactive, especially when it comes to science.
* MorallyAmbiguousDoctorate: [[spoiler:He wants to cure Banner and find similar cures for diseases but wants to use gamma-irradiated blood to do so which always has unfortunate consequences.]]
* MotorMouth: He can get carried away discussing the merits of Hulk Blood; the result is a fast-flowing stream of science.
* MyBrainIsBig: [[spoiler: Caused by Banner's irradiated blood falling into an Abomination-caused head wound.]]
* NiceGuy: Other than Bruce, he knows how dangerous Hulk blood is better than anyone but instead of treating Bruce like a menace he's 'hail fellow scientist! Well met!'

Wilson Fisk's abusive father, who beat - both physically and verbally - his wife and son for every minor perceived weakness.
----
* AbusiveParent: To his son, Wilson. His idea of "making a man" out of his son involves demeaning him, teaching him to blame others for his problems (including blaming Wilson himself for his own problems) and playing cruel jokes on him.
* AdaptationalHeroism: While he's definitely no hero Bill never became a part of the mafia like his WesternAnimation/SpiderManTheAnimatedSeries counterpart.
* AssholeVictim: When he goes missing, everyone who knows him assumes that he left the city to get away from mobsters to whom he owed money, or that the mobsters killed him and buried him on the side of the New Jersey Turnpike. Either way, no one loses sleep over it and there didn't seem to be much investigation into the disappearance.
* CorruptPolitician: He has the aspiration to be one, which is why he runs in the local elections. He funds his campaign by borrowing money from Rigoletto with the understanding that if elected he will repay the money through kickbacks. However, he loses and Rigoletto wants his money back.
* DomesticAbuser: He beats his wife savagely, in addition to being verbally abusive.
* DudeWheresMyRespect: Bill desperately wants to be respected, to be a powerful man, and expects it without giving it.
* {{Hypocrite}}: He lectures his son about giving respect to get it, but shows nobody respect while expecting it from others.
* JerkWithAHeartOfJerk: For every time he gives a nugget of advice to his son or shows affection, there's an imminent swing in the opposite direction, or it's at the expense of his wife.
* KarmicDeath: You wanted to toughen your son up, Bill? [[SarcasmMode Congratulations!]] You did exactly that, and he has your blood on his hands to prove it! To add insult to injury, your biggest wish about being known and respected? Well, Wilson's had all public records of you erased, making sure no one remembers you.
* NeverMyFault: He believes that the reason he lost the local election is because his wife and son don't show him enough respect at home. Not because he's a vile, vicious, petty loser.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: Invoked. When he goes missing, everyone assumes that he did this to get away from the mobsters to whom he owed money or, alternatively, that the mobsters caught him attempting to do this and killed him. His wife and son do nothing to dissuade people from this assumption since [[spoiler:Wilson killed him to protect his mother and they both disposed of the body]]. It helps that everyone knew Bill was just the type of DirtyCoward to abandon his family in order to save himself.
* {{Unperson}}: His son had all public records of Bill erased. It is so thorough that even Ben Urich has trouble finding any records or photos of him.
* WouldHurtAChild: In addition to the verbal and psychological abuse he levels at Wilson, he beats up a teenager for knocking down his signs. This was ''after'' the election was over, ''and'' he forces his son to participate.

* MisplacedKindergartenTeacher: She treats the tenants like they were school girls in a dormitory rather than adults living on their own.
* SatelliteCharacter: Is only relevant to the story as Peggy's landlady. Once Peggy moves out, she ceases to be important and stops appearing.
* SingleIssueLandlord: Basically one rule and that rule is "no men above the first floor ever".
