* LethalJokeItem: Nagato's second revision allows her to equip destroyer-caliber main guns. This might sound rather gimmicky at first, but with Akizuki-class's main guns[[note]]the 10cm Twin HA Gun Mount + AAFD, the best main guns for destroyer in-game with outstanding AA stats and enables AACI[[/note]] it allows her to effectively perform both Anti-Air Cut-In ''and'' retain a reliable artillery shelling setup (albeit with a significant firepower reduction compared to equipping battleship's large caliber main guns). The AACI itself was nowhere near in the league of Maya or the ''Akizuki''-class, but it nonetheless gives a multirole function to a battleship without crippling its main role.

* HistoricalInJoke: The 4koma has Fubuki and Shirayuki going to Nagato-class' room, a simple room covered in blast-resistant walls and ironclad furniture; Nagato says that it's strong enough to withstand the blast from Mutsu. Fanworks go further with her tendency of blowing herself up.

* FashionableAsymmetry: Has a normal leg sock on her right and a thigh-high on her left. This apparently "influences" most of the ships that went with her in Operation Ten-Go (namely, Yahagi[[note]]though the Agano-class have it as their dress code[[/note]], Hatsushimo, Isokaze, Asashimo, and Kasumi).

* HistoricalInJoke: The reason for her Type-91 Shell Bra in her base and Kai damaged art. The Allied Fleet did not know the true size of the Yamato-class's main guns until very late in the war; they initially thought she had 14- or 16-inch guns at maximum.

!!Kasuga Maru/Taiyou (3rd/1st)[[note]]Originally built as the third and last of the Nitta Maru-class liners, she was the first to be converted into an escort carrier as they were converted in reverse order.[[/note]]

* NecessaryDrawback: Taiyou Kai Ni is one of the most powerful anti-submarine ships in the game, possessing the ability to perform opening anti-submarine attacks, and effective night airstrike capability. To get Taiyou Kai Ni however, players must first raise her to level 85, and then use a Prototype Flight Deck Catapult to remodel her, an incredibly rare item also used for the Shoukaku-class Kai Ni remodels. Also, even at Kai Ni, she can only carry 39 airplanes, the second lowest maximum in the game (the lowest being Gambier Bay's 34).

They are listed along with [[Characters/KantaiCollectionThree their other class-mates]]. While their conversion, a reversible alternate second remodel to a carrier, is ahistorical, it's however a reference to the incomplete Ibuki, whom started construction as an improved Mogami-class but was converted during construction into a carrier. Their conversion, listed respectively as "Suzuya Carrier Kai Ni" and "Kumano Carrier Kai Ni" would be listed here if they weren't already best known as Heavy Cruisers.

** It is even reflected in her CGs, Growing from the inexperienced carrier with GirlishPigtails, to the SoleSurvivor of the Kido Butai, and the last of Japan's Fleet Carriers, (Barring the Amagi-Class) to participate and sink in Battle.

* MythicalMotifs: Of course, dragons, which she somewhat resembles, and the only one who show the motif as opposed to other "dragon" carriers[[note]]and ''Tenryuu''-class[[/note]]. She also takes on the "cloud" part of her name!

* CatchPhrase: "Haruna is alright". It gets so bad, in the Drama CD's roll call she nearly introduces herself as Battleship Daijoubu.

* DivergentCharacterEvolution: With their second remodels, Ise and Hyuuga take two different roles by default with their stock equipment and stats. Ise is more straightfoward, being focused on attack and AA and favors airplanes while Hyuuga has an ASW and seaplane focus (with a ASW stat that not only exists but is also very good) with her autogyros, helicopters like the [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sikorsky_H-5 Sikorksy H-5]], and her beloved Zuiuns. This is also represented with their flight decks: Ise has a basic flight deck while Hyuuga has additional lines painted on it for helicopters (a nod to the JMSDF's JS ''[[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JS_Hyūga Hyuuga]]'', DDH-181) and an additional catapult for seaplanes.

* NecessaryDrawback: While their second remodel turns them into a functional Aircraft Carrier/Battleship hybrids, what they gain in sheer versatility doesn't translate into being a particularly good battleship (Ise's Max Firepower is only slightly buffed while Hyuuga's is actually nerfed a tiny bit.) or a particularly good carrier (Their carrying level is comparable to a CVL with 57 and 50 respectively). Moreover, two of their 5 slots (the second ones since Musashi's Kai-2 remodel) are exclusively reserved for aircraft (particularly fighters, dive bombers, and seaplanes.) Also, as expected of such a big overhaul, this remodel is very expansive in materials and things like blueprints and such. Their stats ''should'' synergize strongly with both functions, though.

** With her second remodel, she is one of only three battleships with an ASW stat and a very powerful one at that[[labelnote:*]]A maximum of 81 at level 100 against 28 and 29 for Fusou K2 and Yamashiro K2[[/labelnote]] (if considered a carrier, she would only be weaker than Taiyou K2 and Shin'you K2). To compensate, she has a slightly weaker stat spread and less plane slots than her elder sister.

Shin'you (''Divine Hawk'') is the personification of the Japanese aircraft carrier ''[[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_aircraft_carrier_Shin%27yō Shin'you]]'', originally the German ocean liner ''[[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SS_Scharnhorst_(1934) SS Scharnhorst]]'' (unrelated to the battleship ''Scharnhorst'' other than namesake), she became stranded in Japan due to the outbreak of the war and eventually bought by the [=IJN=] to convert her to an aircraft carrier similar to the ''Taiyou''-class. She's introduced in the Early Fall 2018 Event as the Map E-3 reward.

* PhenotypeStereotype: Due to her unique upbringing (unlike Kongou, Kamoi[[note]]Both were built by foreign shipyards at the behest of the [=IJN=].[[/note]], Ro-500[[note]]Bought by the [=IJN=] as intel.[[/note]] and even I-504[[note]]While she was stranded in Japan, this was because of the German surrender.[[/note]]), she is represented as a blue-eyed German girl with platinum blond hair... wearing Japanese clothing.

* NecessaryDrawback: Can field the most planes in the whole game with a massive third slot (98, with a third slot of 46 planes, bigger than what some Light Carriers can field with all of their slots). Thus, she is instrumental when you need to have Air Superiority but as a result, she is also the most expensive carrier to maintain, even more than BigEater Akagi. In a later update, the devs buffed Akagi's max firepower to compensate for her lower plane count. Some players also get frustrated when they perceive she is more likely to be heavily damaged, forcing the Admiral to retreat.

* YouAreInCommandNow: In the movie, attrition forces her to take command of Second Fleet.
