She also invented her own staff that she uses for creating vibrating noise for the dragons.

* ShipperOnDeck: Despite not having any direct contact in the sequel, Valka is shown to be very fond of Astrid's relationship with Hiccup especially when the two kissed right in front of her. In ''Rise of Berk'', the two interact with each other a lot, including training dragons or talking about Hiccup. Valka even says she sees why Hiccup is so fond of her.
