** On another note Atreus' personality is akin to a wolf, he's both [[SavageWolves savage]] and [[NobleWolf noble.]] Atreus is communal, naively altruistic, loyal to his family, sometimes harsh with Kratos but will become hostile to anyone who harms/insults Kratos and Faye.

* CunningLinguist: Atreus has a real knack for language. He can read ancient runes, roughly translate Elvish, and after only a few exposures, can speak Jormungandr's language well enough to ask him to [[spoiler:ram Baldur]].

Kratos isn't happy with this at all, especially after [[spoiler:the boy kills a badly injured Modi]] despite being ordered not to. To be fair, [[AlcoholInducedIdiocy he may have been drunk at the time]].

* AlcoholInducedIdiocy: After Kratos lets him have a drink of a centuries old Greek wine they find in Tyr's vaults, Atreus starts acting extremely out of character, shouting at Sindri, attacking enemies at random, and generally being a totally out of control jerk. After nearly getting kidnapped, he goes back to his normal CheerfulChild self though, and says a line or two that implies he doesn't entirely remember what he'd done earlier.

* {{Pride}}: Atreus learns that he's a god and develops a really bad streak of hubris, thinking that as a god, his goals are more important than any other, that he's almighty, and that he can freely kill anyone he crosses path with. Kratos and Mimir try to reign that in before his pride gets to his head too much.

* MoralityPet: To an extent. The focus of ''God of War'' is for Kratos to rediscover himself after the pain of his past life. Being a good father to his son will be a major part of that.

* CombatMedic: With certain gear, he can toss healthstones over to Kratos if he's at low health.

* ArcherArchetype: He fights using a hunting bow. While he typically shoots with it, eventually he'll whack enemies or even try to strangle them with it.
