Chogoro the Firefox is a famous thief dressed in white who wears a fox mask. He has been pursued by Heiji Kozenigata for 10 years, but has never been caught. When he is not being a thief, he serves drinks at a street bar that Kozenigata frequents. He is a former member of the Nine-Tails Fox Gang of Thieves, a group of nine thieves trained as ninjas, but he split from them 30 years ago during a robbery in Kyoto. They later commit various murders in Kyoto and frames him for it, forcing him out of retirement as he sends out a calling card to steal a golden tofu.
