* IdiotBall: The purpose of the war with Alvarez is to keep Fairy Heart inside her away from Zeref, and his determination to obtain it despite her suffering from Irene's attempted extraction forces her to run away from her own guild. Irene is ordered to bring her back, but ends up committing suicide during her fight with Erza, so the only way to bring her back into Zeref's grasp was for Mavis to run back to the guild and try conversing with the mentally unstable BigBad. It's implied that Precht Gaebolg's transformation into Hades resulted from his inability to revive her, and that Ivan's eventual expulsion from Fairy Tail was the result of trying to acquire and use Fairy Heart for his own ends. Ivan also spread the information around, which drew the attention of the Alvarez Empire.
