Not much is known about Gildarts, other than that he's old and that he's [[InformedAbility insanely powerful]], more so than either Laxus or Mystogan. He has just returned from three years of S-rank and [[RankInflation SS-rank]] quests, to the delight of every Fairy Tail member who has been there long enough to remember him, and the apparent horror of the rest of the town considering that they have an emergency alarm just for him.
