!!Stu

A bird of indeterminate species who hatches from an egg into an ancient cauldron filled with bombs. Third boss of ''Returns'', fought in the Ruins and possessed by Gong-Oh.
----

* {{Acrofatic}}: Stu is actually quite fat behind that heavy-looking cauldron and his wings are disproportionally small, but he flies around just fine.
* CartoonBomb: The type of bomb Stu tosses.

* FeatheredFiend: A mind-controlled, bomb-throwing bird.
* MadBomber: A deranged-looking bird that fights with bombs and missiles, oh my!
* TacticalSuicideBoss: Stu can only be damaged at all because he keeps tossing slow-detonating bombs at DK, who can easily pick up and toss them back.

!!Mole Miner Max

Leader of the mole miners that work in the Caves. Fourth boss of ''Returns'' and possessed by Banjo Bottom.
----

* ImprobableUseOfAWeapon: His main attack consists of throwing ''pickaxes''.

----

* BigCreepyCrawlies: It does look vaguely insectoid, and it's definitely bigger than your average bug.
* CartoonCreature: It's even weirder than Mugly!
* {{Planimal}}: It looks like some sort of giant caterpillar with several plant-like features.
* ShockAndAwe: It is able to electrify itself.
* WeakenedByTheLight: Activating the light by hitting all the necessary switches weakens Mangoruby enough to dispel its electric body defense mechanism.

!!Colonel Pluck and the Stompybot 3000

A rooster piloting a giant egg-chicken mecha, which he uses to mash bananas so that the resulting mass becomes fuel for the creation of more Tikis. The seventh boss of ''Returns''. Possessed by Cordian.

* FeatheredFiend: The name of its level, even.
* FlunkyBoss: He sends a few robot chickens ([[WesternAnimation/RobotChicken not that one]]) to annoy DK in his last phase.
* GogglesDoNothing: He wears a pair of goggles, which are somewhat redundant considering that he is already inside a glass-covered cockpit. They might be useful when he's flying around, though.
* GroinAttack: To destroy the Stompybot, DK must repeatedly punch the area between its legs.
* MiniMecha: The Stompybot 3000. The cockpit can also turn into a flying saucer.

''VideoGame/DonkeyKongCountryReturns''

K. Rool is and the Kremling Krew. Led by the giant [[spoiler:Tiki Tong]] and his instrument-shaped lieutenants, they hypnotize the animals of Donkey Kong's ArchEnemy in the ''VideoGame/DonkeyKongCountry'' games, much as Bowser is Kong Island into stealing DK's treasured Banana Hoard, which they use to Mario. life... for some reason).

* {{Acrofatic}}: Take one look at the guy. Pretty overweight, right? Well, not only can he jump as high as Mario or Luigi, but he can also outrun Donkey Kong, is able to support his own weight with one hand, and is able to play an entire baseball game without tiring (at least when he isn't pitching).
* AdaptationPersonalityChange: In the games he's a cold-blooded and maniacal Kremling overlord who manages to capture members of the Kong family with surprising efficiency and frequency. In the cartoon, he's a LaughablyEvil IneffectualSympatheticVillain.
* AdiposeRex: He is clearly fat.
* AffablyEvil: The cartoon version.
* AGodAmI: Sees himself as the "''Supreme Ruler of all Evil''" in the cartoon.
* ArchEnemy: To Donkey Kong and the rest of the Kong clan.
* AxCrazy: Lampshaded by Nintendo on more than one occasion, particularly in reference to his schizophrenic adoption of multiple personas as his [[NoKillLikeOverkill love of the overkill]].
* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: He is the final boss in each game he appears in.
* BadassGrandpa: In the cartoon, where it turns out that he and Cranky Kong are actually childhood buddies, meaning he's roughly the same age as Donkey Kong's grandpa, yet still doing all the stuff he does.
* BerserkButton: There was this time in the cartoon when Klump's video conference messed him up in the computer game he was playing. It angered him so much that he let out an epic BigNo and smashed the computer.
* BadBoss: He keeps his minions in a constant state of misery, rules through fear, and is perfectly willing to sic Klaptraps on his already overworked engineers to speed things up.
* TheBattleDidntCount: Four times in ''[=DK64=]''.
* BigBad: Of all the games he appears in.
* {{BFG}}: In the 2nd game.
* BoxingBattler: In ''Donkey Kong 64'', where he dons a boxing outfit, complete with gloves and champion's belt during the FinalBoss battle.
* TheCaligula
* TheChessmaster: Mainly in the cartoon.
* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome: He hasn't made a non-cameo appearance since 2008's ''VideoGame/MarioSuperSluggers''.
* ColdBloodedTorture: [[spoiler:The first time you fight him on the Flying Krock in ''Donkey Kong Country 2'', he is seen beating Donkey Kong. And by "beating", we mean firing ''cannonballs'' at him while he's tied up.]]
* {{Determinator}}: The one consistent thing between his many personas is the fact that they all take immense amounts of effort to put down, usually being multi-stage bosses. In VideoGame/DonkeyKong64, he goes through multiple rounds of being hammered by ''every'' Kong, and it still takes high explosives to merely get rid of him.
* DeathGlare: He delivered one to Army Dillo after the latter's first failure. With his [[EyeScream gruesome looking eye]], he can do these easily.
* DrFakenstein: In ''Donkey Kong Country 3'', complete with "-stein" prefix and "Baron" title.
* EvilBrit: In the cartoon and in ''Donkey Kong 64''
* EvilIsHammy: Particularly in the cartoon.
* EvilSoundsDeep: In ''VideoGame/DonkeyKong64'' and ''Mario Super Sluggers''.
* EvilVersusEvil:
** In the cartoon, he was often at odds with Kaptain Skurvy.
** In ''Mario Super Sluggers'', he has bad chemistry with Bowser.
* EyeScream: It's so bulgy and veiny... And that's just the more recent portrayals: in the ''DKC'' games and ''[=DK64=]'', the red marks don't even ''look'' like veins but ''blood stains on the eye'', which makes him look ''demonic''. Subverted in the cartoon, though, where his eye is just bulgy.
* FatBastard: He might look like a silly overgrown lizard, but he's a ruthless villain who will resort to very evil actions to get what he wants, including kidnapping ''Donkey Kong himself'' in two games and planning to destroy DK Isles in ''64''.
* FinalBoss: Of each game he appears in.
* FinalExamBoss: In ''Donkey Kong 64'', K. Rool has to be fought in at least five boxing rounds (more if time runs out in any of them), each with one of the playable Kong characters. And each Kong has to attack him using a specific strategy that makes use of their unique tools and/or abilities.
* FriendlyEnemy: [[spoiler: He's shown performing a secret handshake with Donkey Kong in the bizarre secret ending of ''Donkey Kong 64''.]]
* GeniusBruiser: He's pretty smart and very strong. Quite fitting as crocodiles in real life are intelligent even among reptile standards.
* GoKartingWithBowser: In the cartoon, it turns out that originally he and Cranky Kong were friends, and in those days there was peace between Kremling and Kong, with the feud only flaring up after their friendship broke up over K. Rool's cheating in one of their contests. So, Donkey Kong and the gang decide to try and get the two to remember their friendship and see if that'll put an end to the fighting. It works... [[GoneHorriblyRight too well]]; Cranky and K. Rool are such madcap pranksters and daredevils that they drive ''everybody'', Kong and Kremling alike, nuts, and eventually they force them to break their friendship again simply because it's more ''peaceful'' when they're at open war with each other. King K. Rool can also race with Donkey Kong in ''Barrel Blast''.
* HelicopterPack: In the third game.
* IdleAnimation: In ''Mario Super Sluggers'' when left idle while batting, he will do a gesture with his left hand towards the pitcher that basically means "Come on!".
* InformedSpecies: Despite being a crocodile, he has an overbite and a wide U-shaped snout more akin to an alligator.
* TheInsomniac: This is sometimes used to explain the way his eye looks.
* ItsAllAboutMe: Many of the evil actions he does in the games are solely to satisfy his personal objectives and goals.
* KingKoopaCopy: He's one of the more straightforward examples of this trope, especially among fellow Nintendo franchises. The chief difference is that K. Rool lacks Bowser's more noble attributes; whereas Bowser is a BenevolentBoss who views Mario as a WorthyOpponent, K. Rool is a selfish BadBoss who is perfectly willing to exterminate the Kongs when given the chance and often fakes defeat to throw them off guard.
* LargeAndInCharge: Among the largest Kremlings, though some of the monster bosses are huge even compared to him.
* LaughingMad: In ''Barrel Blast'' if he repeatedly slams into breakable objects (such as barrels) or enemies (like the Zingers) while using a Wild Move.
* LightningBruiser: Don't let his size fool you; K. Rool is not only very strong and very resilient, but he's also very fast. He also has very high stats in ''Barrel Blast''.

* OddFriendship: He has good chemistry with King Boo in ''Mario Super Sluggers''.
* OlderThanTheyLook: In the cartoon, he grew up with Cranky.
* OneHitPointWonder: In his rematch in ''[=DKC2=]'', he is defeated with a single cannonball...but before that cannonball can show up, he goes through a long sequence of attacks first.

* TacticalSuicideBoss: It's very common for K. Rool to be defeated in his boss fights simply because he keeps making the same mistakes again and again. For example, in the original ''[=DKC=]'', he keeps throwing his crown at [=DK=] and Diddy, giving them the perfect opportunity to jump on his head, and in ''64'', his constant showboating leaves him open to the Kongs' attacks.

* {{BFG}}: Bazuka and Kannon.
* {{BFS}}: Kutlass. The instruction manual for ''[=DKC2=]'' humourously states that he ordered the swords from a TV offer, and they turned out to be bigger than he expected because of his small TV screen.

[[quoteright:220:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/KAOS_2824.png]]
->''Bzzzzt... Click... Kongs enemy. You must be... DESTROYED!!!''

The apparent new leader of the Kremlings in ''VideoGame/DonkeyKongCountry3DixieKongsDoubleTrouble'', and a killer robot intent on world conquest, it's found to be secretly under the control of K. Rool in his latest guise and powered by the captured Donkey and Diddy Kong. Has multiple heads that appear when each is destroyed.

Tropes applying to KAOS:
* CoolShades: His second head has sunglasses, which is also seen in the picture.
* CranialProcessingUnit: Which overlaps with AttackItsWeakPoint.
* TheDragon: To King K. Rool.
* EyeBeams: The first head fire these.
* HomemadeInventions: K. Rool apparently built him out of pots and pans.
* HumanResources: Was originally powered by the captured Donkey and Diddy's cerebral energies.
* KillerRobot: Fairly obvious.
* LosingYourHead: Happens when each is attacked enough, and in the first battle, it flies around firing lasers.
* MadBomber: His third head erratically fires grenades.
* ManBehindTheMan: K. Rool secretly controls it under the guise of Baron K. Roolenstein.
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: Yep. Kastle Kaos, Kaos Kore and KAOS Karnage even more so.
* RoboSpeak: His quotes are incredibly mechanical.
* ShoutOut: His second head resembles the Franchise/{{Terminator}}.
* TrickBoss: The second fight. He only takes two hits before going down, then K. Rool shows himself.

!!Army Dillo
->Debut: ''VideoGame/DonkeyKong64''
[[quoteright:290:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/army_dillo_2321.png]]

A cowardly armadillo who lacks a shell of his own, Army Dillo is equipped with a mechanical shell that makes up for the real one he lacks. He acts as one of K. Rool's agents in ''Donkey Kong 64'', serving as the ClimaxBoss of both Jungle Japes and Crystal Caves.
----
* AttackItsWeakPoint: His face, which he exposes in order to laugh at you.
* {{BFG}}: Gains one during the battle in Crystal Caves. After his small cannons are blown off, he adds an enormous rocket launcher to the top of his shell, which can drop huge fireballs on you and fire a heat seeking missile.
* BossArenaIdiocy: TNT barrels spawn in the centre of both his arenas.
* DirtyCoward: Flees as soon as his rockets are destroyed, and is so terrified of reporting failure to K. Rool that he actually faints. The second time he lasts until his entire armour is wrecked, then he tries to slink off again.
* EvilLaugh: When he's done attacking, he sticks his face out to laugh. This leaves him vulnerable.
* {{Fireballs}}: He attacks with these when he has his guard on.
* GiantFlyer: During your second battle with him, where he uses rockets to fly up into the air. Initially he just uses this to slam down and create shockwaves, but after you hit him three times, he'll bombard you from the air as well.
* HardHead: You throw TNT barrels into his face. This damages his shell, but somehow does no damage to his face.
* KingMook: Appears to be a giant Army. Unlike them, he doesn't have real armor.
* MidSeasonUpgrade: Midgame upgrade, but the same principle applies.
* MonowheelMayhem: Curls up into a ball and rolls about, trying to crush you.
* PoweredArmour: His shell, which is made of metal and electrically powered.
* PunnyName: The name is a play on Army and Armadillo.
* RecurringBoss: You face him twice in the game (Jungle Japes and Crystal Caves), and both times as Donkey Kong.
* ShockwaveStomp: During the second battle, Army Dillo can elevate upward and then fall down to create a shockwave: Once after the boss is hit for the first time, twice after the second hit, and three after the third.
* SociopathicSoldier: It's PlayedForLaughs, but there's no way to deny that Army certainly seems to enjoy blasting DK with rockets.
* SuddenlyVoiced: Inverted. At one point in development, he was intended to speak, but his lines weren't used in the final version. He actually pronounces K. Rool's name as "KAY Rool" in one of these lines, unlike [[WesternAnimation/DonkeyKongCountry some people that could be mentioned]].
* TacticalSuicideBoss: If he stopped exposing his face to mock you, he'd be invincible.

!! Dogadon
->Debut: ''VideoGame/DonkeyKong64''
[[quoteright:259:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dogadon.png]]
-> Voiced by : Creator/PeterCullen (archive audio)

A red, giant-sized hybrid between a dragonfly and a dragon. He guards two of the Boss Keys that are necessary to free Lumsy from his imprisonment, and obviously he won't give them to the Kongs without fighting back.
----
* EekAMouse: In the secret ending, he roars at Diddy Kong, scaring him, only to get scared himself by a small yellow Gnawty.
* {{Fireballs}}: His primary attack is spitting fireballs rapidly at his opponents: Five at the start, ten after he's hit once and fifteen when he's hit twice. During his fight against Chunky, he sticks to only five per turn during the second phase of the fight (this is necessary from the game's external point of view, because the ground is sinking into lava and it would be impossible to defeat him in time if he increased further his attack's duration).
* GreyAndGrayMorality: In a series where Black and White Morality is the norm, he really stands out. He had a valid reason to be upset onto Diddy when he killed one of his babies, but no reason is given to attack Chunky other than simply guarding the boss key of Fungi Forest.
* PlayingWithFire: In addition to shooting fireballs, he has a very powerful attack that consists of a barrier of fire that slowly combs the battlefield (the only possible way to avoid this attack is to grab onto one of the ledges and not moving until the attack passes on).
* RecurringBoss: He's the boss of both Angry Aztec and Fungi Forest. Diddy fights him in the former and Chunky does in the latter.
* ShockwaveStomp: During the battle against Chunky, he performs this attack as he rests after shooting fireballs. This narrow moment is when Chunky has to counter-attack.
* TimeLimitBoss: He becomes this during the second battle after being hit three times with the explosive barrels. If Chunky doesn't deplete his HP in time, he will burn in lava and die.
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: K. Rool very rarely tolerates a failure. Dogadon fails ''twice'' and, since his last meeting with the King of Kremlings, he's never seen again.

[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mad_jack.png]]

A creepy, sentient Jack-in-the-box toy that confronts Tiny Kong when she looks for the Boss Key guarded in Frantic Factory. He's a formidable opponent, having in hands a large repertoire of attacks, and is fought on a checkerboard-style grid of high pillars (fortunately for Tiny, falling down won't kill her).
----
* BossArenaIdiocy: Jack is so large that Tiny cannot harm him directly. Fortunately, the pillars have switches that unleash a large electric field that can harm the boss. But the switches only appear when Jack is resting from his melee attack, and Tiny must press the switch located in the pillar that has the same color as the pillar where Jack is resting (if Tiny hit the switch in the pillar of the other color, ''she'' will be harmed by the electric shockwave instead).
* EvilLaugh: He presents in front of Tiny with a malicious background laugh, heard while he taunts her.
* {{Fireballs}}: Unlike the other bosses, Mad Jack doesn't shoot these so frequently, only when he stops chasing Tiny to rest.
* FrickinLaserBeams: During the final part of the battle, he replaces the fireball attack with this one, and it's very powerful.
* GroundPound: This ''is'' Jack's primary attack. Tiny has to dodge it constantly to avoid being hurt, and has to do so by using the HeliCritter ability to avoid falling on the pit while hopping onto the next pillar.
* {{Invisibility}}: When Jack only has one HP left, he turns invisible. Tiny can still locate him by looking at his shadow, but she has to move faster because the invisibilty abruptly increases Jack's speed.

!!Puftoss
->Debut: ''VideoGame/DonkeyKong64''
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/puftoss.png]]

A gigantic Puftup who lurks a body of water that is encased away from the mainland of Gloomy Galleon. Lanky is the unfortunate Kong who's given the task to challenge it. Since the battlefield is aquatic, Lanky confronts it while driving a motorboat.
----
* BattleInTheRain: The battle between Puftoss and Lanky is set during a stormy, rainy night.
* BossArenaIdiocy: Due to the size of the boss and the lack of ground, Lanky cannot harm it directly. The only reason why Lanky can still defeat it is because there are star-shaped emblems that activate metallic pillars which can in turn activate an electric trap capable of harming the big monster. However, each pillar must be activated within a time limit of a few seconds, and that limit decreases gradually as Lanky makes use of it during the battle.
* {{Fireballs}}: Initially, Puftoss shoots them straight at Lanky, and does so unceasingly except when it's preparing a different attack. After being hit twice by the electric impact, it starts shooting a bigger fiery blaze skyward so it splits and derives into a rain of smaller fireballs.
* HomingProjectile: After being hit thrice by the electric impact, Puftoss shoots a small number of fireballs, and then releases a homing Puftup that will chase Lanky relentlessly until it either hits him or runs out of time and explodes.
* KingMook: Of the Puftups. Unlike its smaller relatives, Puftoss can stay on the surface of the water.
* PassThroughTheRings: The star-shaped emblems in the battlefield have to be passed through to activate the pillars. And Lanky must hurry up because there's a time limit triggered when the first emblem is touched.
* ShockwaveStomp: After being hit once by the electric impact, Puftoss provokes a very large, blue-colored double wave of energy that spreads through most of the battlefield. It's a powerful attack, but contrary to popular belief it ''doesn't'' cause a OneHitKill.
* StationaryBoss: It's the only boss in the game of this type, probably because of its formidable size.
* UnderwaterBossBattle: Of the on-the-boat variety. Lanky has to move through the battlefield by driving a motorboat. This eliminates the problem of having to swim, but the battle is still difficult.

!!King Kut Out
->Debut: ''VideoGame/DonkeyKong64''
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/king_kut_out_01.png]]

The penultimate boss in ''Donkey Kong 64'', King Kut Out is a giant, inanimate cardboard modeled after King K. Rool. It is assembled by a group of Kremlings to present a final, desperate resistance against the Kongs when they're looking for the penultimate Boss Key in Creepy Castle (the last one is guarded in the office of K. Rool himself). Although the chosen Kong to fight it is Lanky, all five playable characters can participate (one after another, depending on the potential casualties).
----
* BattleInTheRain: Justified, because all of Creepy Castle is explored during a stormy night.
* BossArenaIdiocy: As a sign of the Kremlings' signature stupidity, they think it's a good idea to attack the Kongs with cardboard in a battlefield secured by four cannons (each pointing to a cardinal direction). When Kut Out isn't attacking, the current Kong can hop into the cannon to launch onto the enemy to inflict damage. The idiocy is subverted during the final phase of the fight, though, when the Kremlings start shifting rapidly Kut Out's position, which puts the current Kong at the risk of launching away from the battlefield.[[note]]Indeed, if this happens to all five of them, it's GameOver.[[/note]]
* DidntNeedThoseAnyway: When Kut Out is impacted three times, it loses an arm, and when it receives the sixth hit it loses the other; but neither loss eases the boss's difficulty. It's only truly defeated when the head is cut.
* DoppelgangerAttack: During the second phase of the battle, two Kut Outs are seen (in opposite extremes). The brighter one is the real one.[[note]]If a Kong launches onto the clone, he or she will just fly past it and be lost for the rest of the battle; again, it's GameOver if it happens to all Kongs, so the player must keep an eye on where the real Kut Out is[[/note]]
* {{Fireballs}}: It's the only boss besides K. Rool that averts this trope. It's also justified, because it's a cardboard and thus fire would incinerate it.
* FlunkyBoss: Kut Out is assisted by Ghosts and Puftups during the battle. It's the only boss in the game of this type.
* FrickinLaserBeams: This is the primary attack of the boss, as it shoots them in two groups of four before ceasing. The Kongs can't attack the boss during these moments.
* LaughingMad: Kut Out (or the Kritter voicing it) laughs maniacally whenever it pops in one of the sides, regardless of whether or not it'll attack. And the sound of the laugh is deranged.
* MarathonBoss: It's the second most enduring boss in the game (only behind K. Rool), requiring nine hits to be defeated.
* RuleOfThree: It's fought in three phases, and in each of them the Kongs must hit it three times.

A sarcastic, talking parrot from the ''WesternAnimation/DonkeyKongCountry'' cartoon. He sometimes helps K. Rool or Scurvy with their plots to take the Crystal Coconut, but seems content to sit on the sidelines and dispense snarky comments.

----

* ChronicBackstabbingDisorder: According to K. Rool, he'd "sell his own mother for a single cracker."
* DeadpanSnarker: He'd be a KnightOfCerebus if it weren't for his tendency to make snarky comments about everything.
* EvilIsPetty: Yes Polly, being insulted and straight-up called out by K. Rool ''totally'' justifies not saying anything when Klump misinterprets his sickened grunts as wanting the island blown up.
* HeelFaceRevolvingDoor: In Raiders of the Lost Banana, he claims he's turning good...only to turn back at the end of the episode.

[[quoteright:300:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kingkrool.jpg]]
->''"'Fatso', is it? I'd choose your last words more carefully if I were you."''
->Debut: ''VideoGame/DonkeyKongCountry''

->Voiced by (Japanese): Toshihide Tsuchiya (video games, 2007-present), Creator/JurotaKosugi Japanese dubs for animated series)
->Voiced by (French): Éric Gaudry (''WesternAnimation/DonkeyKongCountry'', Season 1), Michel Tugot-Doris (''WesternAnimation/DonkeyKongCountry'', Season 2)

An obscenely rich (and fat) crocodile who lords over the Kremlings, just as Bowser does for the Koopas. K. Rool is Donkey Kong's ArchEnemy in the ''VideoGame/DonkeyKongCountry'' games, much as Bowser is to Mario. Prone to adopting new personas (Kaptain K. Rool, Baron K. Roolenstein, etc.) at the drop of a hat.

----
* {{Acrofatic}}: Take one look at the guy.
* AffablyEvil: The cartoon version.
* {{BFG}}: In the 2nd game.
* BoxingBattler: In ''Donkey Kong 64'', where he dons a boxing outfit, complete with gloves and champion's belt during the FinalBoss battle.
* TheCaligula
* TheChessmaster: Mainly in the cartoon.
* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome: He hasn't made a non-cameo appearance since 2008's ''VideoGame/MarioSuperSluggers''.
* EvilVersusEvil:
* MadEye: One of his most iconic features.
* MadScientist: In ''[=DKC3=]'', supported by his alias "Baron K. Roolenstein".
* MightyGlacier: In ''Mario Super Sluggers'', he is tied with Bowser and Petey Piranha for the best batting stat in the game, but he is also tied with Red Magikoopa as the slowest character.
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: K. Rool sounds like "cruel".
* NeverMyFault: Mainly in the cartoon, he would blame his flunkies for his mishaps.
* NeverSmileAtACrocodile: He is the leader of an evil crocodile gang that likes to cause havoc for the Kongs.
* NewJobAsThePlotDemands: Shows up as the king of the Kremlings, a ship captain, and a MadScientist in the first three DK installments (and a pro boxer by the end of ''VideoGame/DonkeyKong64'' as his last time changing his personas). He seems to settle on King after that.
* {{Pirate}}: In ''[=DKC2=]'' were goes by the alias "Kaptain K. Rool".
* PoliticallyIncorrectVillain: In ''VideoGame/DonkeyKong64'', he attempted to essentially commit genocide against the Kongs. If the Rare commentary is anything to go by, his stealing the banana hoard has to do with starving the Kongs [[http://tinyurl.com/n64j34p so he can move in on their land]]. As revealed in ''Jungle Climber'', he does not even like bananas.
* PunnyName: Works on two levels. First, he's a king named "Rool" (rule). Then you add on the K and it becomes "cruel".
* PutOnABus: He hasn't appeared in a ''Donkey Kong'' game since ''Jungle Climber'' in 2007 and his latest non-cameo appearance was in ''Mario Super Sluggers'' in 2008. He has had a trophy in all ''Super Smash Bros.'' games since ''Melee'', so Nintendo hasn't forgotten him, but he's conspicuously absent with no mention from ''Donkey Kong Country Returns'' and ''Tropical Freeze''.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Mainly because they're bloodshot.
* RoyalBrat: [[spoiler:To Wrinkly while she taught him as a child.]]
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: K. Rool is a villainous example, always coming up with one scheme after another, and typically taking a direct hand in them.
* StoutStrength: K. Rool is very fat, but also ''very'' strong. Oftentimes, he's even [[{{Acrofatic}} faster]] than DK is! He's also able to support his own weight with one hand in ''DK: King of Swing''.
* SurroundedByIdiots: Claims to be this during a cutscene in ''[=DK64=]'', complete with a FacePalm. It's also a constant theme in the cartoon: in the episode "The Curse of Kongo Bongo," Krusha and Klump are trying to decode a plan they themselves came up with, only to forget said code, leading to this:
-->'''K. Rool''': It's at times like this I find that I must ask myself again and again: "Do I ''really'' want the [[MacGuffin Crystal Coconut]] ''this'' badly?"
* TheRival: Cranky Kong in ''Barrel Blast''.
* TimeLimitBoss: Each of his battle phases in ''64'' is on a time limit.
* WouldHitAGirl: He has no problems attacking the younger Kongs, even if Dixie and Tiny are female.
* YourSizeMayVary: Is much bigger in ''Donkey Kong 64'' than in both his previous and later appearances.

** Klump and Krusha, two mooks in the first game, were made singular characters in the cartoon. Krusha also became a SecretCharacter in ''Donkey Kong 64''s multiplayer mode. Klump also became a SecretCharacter in ''Barrel Blast''.
** The playable Kopter in ''Barrel Blast''.
** Kritter became a playable character in ''DK: King of Swing'', the ''Mario Strikers'' series, ''Mario Super Sluggers'' as well as ''VideoGame/DonkeyKongBarrelBlast''.
* AttackOfTheFiftyFootWhatever: Kerozene, who is even larger than K. Rool. Also K. Lumsy from ''Donkey Kong 64''.
* BashBrothers: Kuff 'n' Klout.
* {{BFG}}: Bazuka and Kannon.
* {{BFS}}: Kutlass. The instruction manual for ''[=DKC2=]'' humourously states that he ordered the swords from a TV offer, and they turned out to be bigger than he expected because of his small TV screen.
* BreathWeapon: Kerozene.
* BringIt: Done by Krusha and Krumple, after shrugging off an ineffectual attack.
* CarryABigStick: Kudgel and Kosha.
* CoolShades: Worn by Kasplats.
* CrosshairAware: Kroc.
* DeaderThanDead: Krow in ''[=DKC2=]''. First, he's the WarmUpBoss; then, after '''''[[GettingCrapPastTheRadar explicitly dying]]''''', he later returns as a [[OurGhostsAreDifferent ghost]] to serve as the one of the last bosses as well -- predictably, you have to "kill" him '''''again'''''.
* DefectorFromDecadence: Klubba hates K. Rool, so he plays minigames (in the UsefulNotes/GameBoyAdvance remake) with the Kongs and lets them into the Lost World... for a price. Kong ally K. Lumsy was also locked up when he refused to help K. Rool destroy Donkey Kong Island and the "cute little monkeys" inhabiting it.
* DemBones: The skeletal Kritters, the teeth of Klaptraps and the Resident Demon in ''Donkey Kong 64''. Kackle from ''[=DKC2=]''.
* DualWielding: Kutlass and Krook, although Krook usually throws the hook from the same hand over again.
* EliteMook: Krusha, Kruncha, Krumple and Kasplat.
* EnemySummoner: Kloak.
* EvilLaugh: Kloak and Kackle in ''[=DKC2=]''. The Resident Demon in ''[=DK64=]''. Kalypso in ''Barrel Blast''. Kroc in the GBA remake of ''[=DKC3=]''.
* FatBastard: Klump and Kannon.
* FiveBadBand: In ''Barrel Blast'':
** BigBad: K. Rool.
** TheDragon: Kopter, Klump and Kritter.
** TheBrute: Kludge.
** TheDarkChick: Kalypso.
** EnfantTerrible: Kip and Kass.
* FriendlyEnemy: General Klump and Krusha were sometimes this to the Kongs in the cartoon.
* FunnyAfro: Kalypso has one.
* GiantMook: Big Klaptraps in ''Donkey Kong 64''.
* HalfDressedCartoonAnimal: In ''Donkey Kong Country 2'', most of the Kremlings wear pants but not shirts (due to the pirate theme). In ''Donkey Kong 64'', Kasplats wear black vests, boots and gloves as well as CoolShades, but no pants.
* HandCannon: ''Literally'' in the case of Kannons and Bazukas.
* {{Hook Hand}}s: Krook.
* HeavilyArmoredMook: Koin and Koindozer.
* InstantAwesomeJustAddDragons: Dragon Kremlings from ''Jungle Climber''.
* InvincibleMinorMinion: Rockkrocs (except in the remakes and the Japanese version of the SNES ''DKC'') ,Kackle and Kuchukas.
* MadBomber: Kuchuka.
* MechaMook: The Robotic Kritters in ''Donkey Kong 64''. The Super Team in ''Super Mario Strikers'' uses a Robo-Kritter as their goalie, instead of a regular Kritter.
* MonogenderMonsters: Until ''Barrel Blast'', when Kass and Kalypso were introduced.
%%* {{Mooks}}
* NightOfTheLivingMooks: Kloak, Kackle, the Resident Demon, the skeletal Kritters and the teeth of Klaptraps.
* OffModel: Krunch, compared to other Kritters, looks a little odd.
* OneWingedAngel: The ''Jungle Climber'' bosses are regular Kritters, powered up by the Crystal Bananas.
* {{Pirate}}s: In ''Donkey Kong Country 2'' and ''Donkey Kong Land 2''.
* RealMenWearPink: Skiddas, Koindozers, Krimps, pink Krunchas and pink Klumps. Kritter also wears pink clothing/armor in the ''Mario Strikers'' series when on Princess Peach's team.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Rockkrocs, Kloaks, Kackles, Dark Klobbers, Robotic Kritters, Kip, Kass, Kludge and Kalypso.
* ShockwaveStomp: Done by Kasplats.
* SssssnakeTalk: In the GBA remakes. Krunch also does this in the intro of ''Diddy Kong Racing DS''.
* StatuesqueStunner: Kalypso. Not counting her big afro, she is somewhere inbetween Tiny and Candy's height.
* SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute: Many of the Kremlings in the sequels for Kremlings from previous games in function and appearance.
* TopHeavyGuy: Krusha, Kruncha, Kudgel, Klubba, Krumple, Kasplat and Kuff 'n' Klout. {{Mook}}s with this appearance can only be defeated by a jump attack from the heavier Kong (or from Diddy and Dixie teamed up) without a barrel or Animal Friend.
* TurnsRed: Kruncha.
* XtremeKoolLetterz: All Kremlings share the trait of having their names start with K, especially when a C would make more sense, ''Franchise/MortalKombat'' style.

!! KAOS

* KillerRobot: Fairly obvious.

->Debut: ''VideoGame/DonkeyKong64''

!! Dogadon
->Debut: ''VideoGame/DonkeyKong64''
[[quoteright:259:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dogadon.png]]
-> Voiced by : Creator/PeterCullen (archive audio)

!! Mad Jack
->Debut: ''VideoGame/DonkeyKong64''

!!Puftoss
->Debut: ''VideoGame/DonkeyKong64''

!!King Kut Out
->Debut: ''VideoGame/DonkeyKong64''

[[folder:The Snowmads]]
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dkctf_vikings_7571.jpg]]
->Debut: ''VideoGame/DonkeyKongCountryTropicalFreeze''

The villains of ''VideoGame/DonkeyKongCountryTropicalFreeze'', these pillagers from frigid northern seas take over Donkey Kong Island and throw the Kongs out of their home. Their ranks are predominantly made up of arctic animals such as penguins and walruses. Their leader is a walrus named Lord Fredrik.

----
* AbnormalAmmo: Some of the penguins, called Archies, use fish as arrows. Chum Chucker Charlies throw a barrage of fish like Hammer Bros.
* AddedAlliterativeAppeal: One of the walrus enemies is named Chum Chucker Charlie.
* ArrowsOnFire: A red variant of the Archies fires flaming fish bones that can't be jumped on, not even with Cranky's cane.
* BadWithTheBone: Some Tucks carry fish bone spears.
* CoolHelmet: They sport viking helmets, both bare and horned. They even have different names depending on what kind of helmet they're wearing.
* CoolShip: They have classic viking ships of [[http://mariopartylegacy.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/WiiU_DKCountry_ship01_E3.png various]] [[http://imguol.com/c/entretenimento/2013/06/11/donkey-kong-country-tropical-freeze-1370967972697_615x300.jpg sizes]].
* EverythingsBetterWithPenguins: These penguins are called Tucks, and make up the bulk of the Snowmads' forces.
* GiantFlyer: Some of the enemies are large, fat owls named Pufftons that are bigger than Donkey Kong.
* GrimUpNorth: They come from icier seas further north.
* HairRaisingHare: Known as Fluffs, they're usually seen hopping across the area. Some of them are even bigger than Donkey Kong.
* HornyVikings: Some of them wear the horned helmets vikings are commonly perceived to wear.
* IShallTauntYou: If you're hit by a Waldough at the front, they will stop and laugh.
* KillerRabbit: Literally! The Fluffs are anything but the cutest rabbits.
* KungFuProofMook: Snowmads with horned helmets can't be jumped on, Snowmads with spears can't be rolled into from the front, and then there are Snowmads with ''both''.
* MadBomber: Harold is a large, overweight rabbit enemy who attacks by throwing bombs.
* OhCrap: Some of the bosses have this reaction before they get beaten to a pulp. Others are too dazed to notice.
* OminousOwl: Called Hootz, they make up a portion of their forces as {{Airborne Mook}}s, and one is even a boss.
* OutsideGenreFoe: You don't really anticipate simians living on a warm tropical island having to deal with Vikings from the arctic.
* PunnyName: Many of the Snowmads' names are puns of some sort. "Snowmad" itself is a pun on "snow" and "nomad."
* RedOnesGoFaster: Speedy Tucks move faster than the regular ones, and wear red pants.
* SerialEscalation: The villains in ''Returns'' managed to take all of DK's banana hoard, the Snowmads in the sequel take EVERYTHING, Donkey Kong Island and five other surrounding islands in a matter of seconds. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7b9FnSvEQxE According to the developers]], they wanted to pit the badass Kongs against other badass animals such as polar bears and walruses. This led to the idea of making the enemies Vikings from the North.
* ShieldMook: Some of the Snowmads, such as Walbricks, carry shields that protect them from the front.
* TheSpiny: You get harmed by jumping on the ones wearing horned helmets.
* TopHeavyGuy: The walruses, called Waldoughs, and their variants.
* VillainsOutShopping: In the level ''Twilight Terror'', they can be seen harvesting fish, and throughout the fifth world ''Juicy Jungle'', they gather fruit to turn it into juice, jello, and popsicles. The sheer amount of resources they take would probably break some laws in real life, though.
* WilyWalrus: The walruses, called Waldoughs, are some of the most powerful mooks.

!!Pompy, the Presumptuous
[[quoteright:348:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rsz_sealboss_6299.jpg]]

A sea lion who acts like a circus performer, he is the first boss fought in ''Tropical Freeze''.

* {{Acrofatic}}: He's quite agile for his size, as he's capable of making multiple leaps in succession and can pull off some impressive acrobatics.
* TheBrute: He's very large, and mostly a physical fighter.
* DeathFromAbove: One of his attacks involves trying to crush the Kongs as he leaps into the air.
* FlunkyBoss: He sometimes summons penguins to attack the Kongs.
* MonstrousSeal: Not only does this sea lion work for the Snowmads, he's surprisingly scary for only the first boss. Not only is he ''enormous'' - one of the biggest members of the Snowmads - but he's one of the only three bosses in the game to get [[RottenRockAndRoll heavy metal music]] - the other two are the penultimate and FinalBoss!
* TheSpiny: In addition to his helmet, he sometimes tosses sea urchins into the area, which injure the Kongs if they try to jump on them. Both can be bypassed with Cranky's cane.
* SmallNameBigEgo: He seems to be incredibly vain, as he does a ton of flips and tricks while he fights.
* SpinAttack: One of his attacks involves spinning across the arena sideways.
* TurnsRed: His skin even changes color each time he does this.

!!Skowl, the Startling
[[quoteright:339:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rsz_skowl1_7827.jpg]]

A large owl who fights with magic, he is the second boss fought in ''Tropical Freeze''.

* BlowYouAway: In the second part of his fight, one of his attacks involves creating a massive gale that propels the Kongs and his troops across the screen.
* TheEvilGenius: He mostly fights with magic.
* EvilSoundsDeep: His voice is much deeper than the other owls.
* FeatherFlechettes: His projectile attack.
* FlunkyBoss: He summons owls constantly throughout the fight.
* GiantFlyer: He's as large as the Pufftons, without looking fat at all.
* AnIcePerson: He can create spiky ice balls that roll across the stage. They can only be jumped on using Cranky's cane.
* KingMook: Of the Hootz.
* OminousOwl: Even his voice sounds ominous.
* ThrowTheMookAtThem: Some of the owls he summons wear an [[EggshellClothing eggshell helmet]], allowing the Kongs to jump on them without killing them and then throw them at Skowl.

!!Ba-Boom, the Boisterous
[[quoteright:345:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/3a6f44c2f7f0ce768c1052be20ae65f8.png]]

A ninja baboon, he is the third boss fought in ''Tropical Freeze''.

* DropTheHammer: He tries to hit you with a hammer while swinging around.
* MadBomber: One of his attacks involves throwing bombs, and he really goes ape with them in the last part of the fight.
* MesACrowd: He creates two doppelgangers to fight alongside him. As the fight goes on, the clones change from looking exactly like him except for headband colors into pale ice-like creations.
* NinjaPirateZombieRobot: He's a viking ninja baboon.
* PunnyName: He's a baboon whose bombs go "boom".
* TheSpiny: His helmet, obviously.
* TacticalSuicideBoss: He should really stop throwing those fruit bombs with long fuses if he doesn't want to be hit by them.
* WolfpackBoss: He, or they, split into three and you must fight several at once. The clones disappear upon being hit, and only Ba-Boom himself can be harmed.

!!Fugu, the Frightening
[[quoteright:199:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rsz_3fugu_01_9654.png]]

A pufferfish who can grow to a gargantuan size, he is the fourth boss fought in ''Tropical Freeze''.

* AttackItsWeakPoint: When inflated, the only part of his body that isn't covered in spikes is his rear.
* {{Black Viking|s}}: Or Japanese Viking in this case. Fugu is the Japanese word for pufferfish and the name of a Japanese dish made with a poisonous species that can kill people if not prepared correctly.
* FlunkyBoss: He can spit sea urchins and soft pufferfish. The pufferfish can be knocked into him, damaging him and causing him to shrink to his original, spike-less size.
* IShallTauntYou: If you get hit two times while he's really huge, he'll [[BreakingTheFourthWall look at the screen and laugh at you.]]
* MuggingTheMonster: Before the fight, upon seeing the apparently wimpy Fugu, the Kongs sneak up behind him to scare him. Needless to say, Fugu is not amused.
* PainfulPointyPufferfish: It '''is''' a pufferfish after all, and its spikes prevent the Kongs from touching it undamaged. Except for it's prongless rear...
* SizeShifter: At first glance, Fugu seems no bigger than any of the other pufferfish enemies in the game. However, he can inflate himself to the point where he can fill up a third of the battlefield.
* SpikesOfVillainy: Spikes protrude from his body when he's inflated.
* SpinAttack: Some of his attacks involve spinning, whether vertically or horizontally. His weak spot can be hit if he's spinning vertically.
* TurnsRed: His face starts getting redder with anger with each phase.
* UnderwaterBossBattle: His boss battle takes place entirely underwater.

!!Bashmaster, the Unbreakable
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bashmaster_8227.jpg]]

A polar bear who fights with a large hammer, he is the fifth boss in ''Tropical Freeze''.

* AwesomeMcCoolname: "Bashmaster" sure is a cool name.
* BearsAreBadNews: He's a polar bear with a hammer. Of course he's bad news.
* ButtMonkey: He loses his popsicle, keep falling into the purple river everytime the Kongs hit him, and has to get punched by the Kongs at the end.
* DropTheHammer: He fights with a hammer as big as him that can even be [[AnIcePerson imbued with ice]] to power up his attacks.
* AnIcePerson: He can imbue his hammer with ice to create icicle waves or turn ice cubes into a mass of spiky ice.
* InASingleBound: He can jump so high that he leaves the screen.
* LostFoodGrievance: When the Kongs crash landed on his ice floe, he dropped his popsicle into the juice the ice floe was floating on, where it's immediately devoured by [[PiranhaProblem piranhas]]. He doesn't take it well.
* NonStandardCharacterDesign: He has a very realistic design compared to the rest of the characters in ''Tropical Freeze''.
* OddNameOut: He's the only one of the five world bosses who doesn't have an alliterative name.
* SpinAttack: One of his attacks involves spinning his hammer and imbuing it with ice before hitting an ice cube, turning it into a spiky, spiraling mass that even Cranky can't jump on. When he does his sliding attack, he also sometimes spins, which leaves him dizzy and open to a boop on the head.
* TurnsRed: His fur gradually turns purple as the fight progresses. Justified, as the Kongs keep knocking him into the purple juice surrounding the battlefield, staining his fur purple.
* VillainsOutShopping: Prior to the boss fight, Bashmaster was just relaxing on an ice floe enjoying a popsicle.

!!Lord Fredrik, The Snowmad King
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lord_fredrik_02.png]]

A walrus and the king of the Snowmads, he is the final boss in ''Tropical Freeze''.

* {{Acrofatic}}: Despite his girth, he can move [[LightningBruiser surprisingly quickly]], and can make some [[InASingleBound impressive jumps]].
* AdiposeRex: He's the king of the Snowmads, and as a walrus, is quite fat.
* AnIcePerson: His horn shoots ice dragons and balls of ice.
* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: It's unknown if he inherited his title or earned it, but he's definitely the strongest of the Snowmads.
* BadassCape: Wears a cape made of fur.
* BigBad: He's the leader of the Snowmads.
* EvilOverlord: It's even in his title.
* EvilSoundsDeep: While he doesn't speak, his laughs, roars, and grunts are very low-pitched.
* FatBastard: He invaded the Kongs' island. As a walrus, he's naturally fat. [[{{Acrofatic}} This hardly stops him from putting up a fight]].
* IShallTauntYou: In the fight against him, he occasionally laughs while the Kongs are avoiding his obstacles. Also, when you toss a projectile at him and barely miss, he'll either pretend to look scared or ''dance like a ballerina''.
* IcyBlueEyes: Fitting, considering that he's AnIcePerson.
* InstantAwesomeJustAddDragons: Lord Fredrik summons a dragon made of ice to both blow away the Kong family, and also to cover the entire DK Island in snow and ice. [[spoiler:In the final battle, he can use his horn to summon smaller ice dragons to attack Donkey Kong as well.]]
* InstrumentOfMurder: His horn can create ice dragons to attack the Kongs. He also used it in the intro FMV to freeze Donkey Kong Island.
* JigglePhysics: His stomach jiggles and bounces everytime he moves.
* LightningBruiser: Despite his size, this guy can run FAST.
* ObviouslyEvil: Scary-looking from head to toe.
* NonindicativeName: Fredrik means 'Peaceful Ruler'. This is the guy who waged a hostile takeover of Donkey Kong Island.
* ShockAndAwe: Unlike the other Snowmads, his helmet is electrified, meaning even Cranky's pogo jump can't damage him there.
* ShoutOut: Many of Lord Fredrik's moves are similar to the way King K. Rool fights in his games.
* SizeShifter: He can use his horn to make himself giant.
* WeHaveReserves: When he leaps onto the battlefield from his throne room, any Snowmad minion he summons there instantly dies. He doesn't react to this, indicating a LackOfEmpathy.
* WilyWalrus: This walrus is the leader of the villainous Snowmads, and has an ObviouslyEvil appearance to match.

!! Wizpig
[[quoteright:250:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Wizpig_3697.PNG]]
->Debut: ''VideoGame/DiddyKongRacing''

An evil, racing-obsessed pig wizard from Future Fun Land, he invades and conquers Timber's Island in ''VideoGame/DiddyKongRacing'', hypnotizing some of the inhabitants to act as his minions.

----
* {{Acrofatic}}: He's fast enough to keep pace with the player's go-kart ''on foot'' despite (or because of) his monstrous size. He can also flat-out ''outrun'' you if you miss the boost pads during the first race.
%%* AlienInvasion
%%* BadassCape
* BigBad: Invaded Timber's Island, Diddy has to confront and race his brainwashed friends to get a chance to race Wizpig and force him to leave.
* EvilLaugh: You hear his nasty laugh when you prepare to confront him in both of his races.
* EvilSorcerer: Capable of brainwashing the island inhabitants into the game's other bosses, and possesses a few magic tricks including making himself disappear.
* FinalBoss: After completing his amulets, you have to race him '''twice''' (the first time on the island, the second time in his home; the latter requires all the balloons in the game to access as well.)
%%* {{Flight}}
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: After being beaten the second time, his rocket randomly malfunctions, launches him into space, and explodes.
%%* HornedHumanoid
%%* {{Jerkass}}: Oh so very much.
* LargeHam: Bonus points for being an actual pig and hammy.
%%* LightningBruiser
* MassHypnosis: Uses it to control some of the residents of Timber's Island.
%%* MessyPig
* NinjaPirateRobotZombie: He's a giant, a pig, a wizard, and an alien.
* PitifulWorms: He's fond of addressing the racers this way.
* RetroRocket: Uses one in his second race.
%%* SmugSnake
* SoreLoser: When you beat him the first time, he throws a childish tantrum and vanishes in a huff, and then attacks the party because he "Just HAD to say goodbye!"
* SpaceFighter: Surprisingly never used as a racing vehicle.
* TrashTalk: Actually calls the group "little worms" both when he leaves and when they meet him again for the last race of the game.

!! The Cactus King
[[quoteright:270:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ghastlyking_7719.png]]
->Debut: ''VideoGame/DonkeyKongJungleBeat''

A huge cross between a gorilla and a cactus, the evil Cactus King ruled the distant Fruit Kingdoms with an iron fist by controlling the minds of the four Kong kings and other powerful creatures. He was overthrown when Donkey Kong came to the kingdoms' aid.

----
* BigBad: Of ''VideoGame/DonkeyKongJungleBeat''.
* LargeAndInCharge
* PlantPerson

!! Tiki Tak Tribe
[[quoteright:332:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/TikiLeaders_729.png]]
->Debut: ''VideoGame/DonkeyKongCountryReturns''

The villains of ''VideoGame/DonkeyKongCountryReturns'', replacing King K. Rool and the Kremling Krew. Led by the giant [[spoiler:Tiki Tong]] and his instrument-shaped lieutenants, they hypnotize the animals of Donkey Kong Island into stealing DK's treasured Banana Hoard, which they use to bolster their forces (the bananas can bring inanimate Tiki masks to life... for some reason).

----
* ActionBomb: Tiki Pops.
* AirborneMook: Tiki Buzzes, Tiki Torks, Flaming Tiki Buzzes, and Tiki Zings (big and small).
%%* AnimateInanimateObject
* AttackItsWeakPoint: The red spots on [[spoiler:Tiki Tong's]] hands and head.
* BackgroundBoss: [[spoiler:Tiki Tong]], initially.
* BecomeYourWeapon: [[spoiler:For the final battle, the instrument Tikis actually become Tiki Tong's hands.]]
* BigBad: [[spoiler:Tiki Tong]].
* CoDragons: The Instrument Tikis.
* DemonicPossession: The lieutenants possess monsters or random characters, which act as bosses.
* EliteMook: Tiki Tanks.
* TheFaceless: [[spoiler:Tiki Tong, whose silhouette face is replaced by a question mark if you lose a life in the Volcano before you meet him.]]
* FlunkyBoss: [[spoiler:Tiki Tong can summon Flaming Tiki Buzzes]].
* GiantHandsOfDoom: [[spoiler:Tiki Tong transforms his main followers into a pair]].
* GiantMook: Tiki Doom, Tiki Torks, Giant Tiki Zings, and Giant Screaming Pillars.
* {{Leitmotif}}: The instrument Tikis. They use their leitmotif to hypnotize the animals.
* TheGoomba: Tiki Goons.
* InterfaceSpoiler: Losing a life will briefly show the silhouette of the Tiki who controls the boss of the world you died in, even if you haven't met them yet. {{Subverted}} with the final boss, however: the silhouette for the final world [[TheFaceless starts off as a giant question mark]] until you've fought [[spoiler: Tiki Tong]] at least once, after which it becomes a proper image.
* ManOnFire: Tiki Torches, Tiki Bombers and Flaming Tiki Buzzes.
* MindControlMusic: The main servants of [[spoiler:Tiki Tong]] play themselves as instruments to hypnotize the animals, complete with HypnoticEyes.
* NoNameGiven: The Tiki bosses. At least initially, as they had no concept art of their own in the game. This was averted in ''Super Smash Bros. 4'', they are apparently named after the instruments they are based on. In order: Kalimba, Maraca Gang, Gong-Oh, Banjo Bottom, Wacky Pipes, Xylobone, Cordian.
* NoOntologicalInertia: After [[spoiler:Tiki Tong]] is defeated, his followers are destroyed, and the hypnotized animals are restored to normal.
* OhCrap: The expression given by the lead Tikis before being made a TwinkleInTheSky by DK.
%%* OutsideContextProblem
%%* PowerFloats
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Screaming Pillars [[spoiler:and Tiki Tong]].
* SealedEvilInACan: They were apparently "hibernating" in the volcano on DK Island, and were awakened by it erupting.
* SchmuckBait: Subverted in the first battle sequence with [[spoiler: Tiki Tong]], as he'll occasionally supply you with hearts during battle sitting on the palms of his hands. If you touch his hand trying to get the hearts, he'll grab, squeeze, and toss you, making that heart entirely worthless.
* ShockwaveStomp: Performed by [[spoiler:Tiki Tong]] in the second sequence of his battle.
* TheSpiny: Tiki Zings and their giant counterparts.
* TechnicolorFire: Tiki Bombers are covered in blue flames, and can launch fireballs of the same color.
* TerribleTrio: The Maraca Bros.
* TooDumbToLive: Kalimba Tiki, the first Tiki that Donkey Kong encounters, tries repeatedly to hypnotise him, even though it's pretty clear that he's immune to the Tiki's mind-controlling music.
* TurnsRed: [[spoiler:Tiki Tong]].
