* ArcherArchetype: His primary weapon is a crossbow, and he fits the personality type by being somewhat aloof and reserved [[spoiler: even before Preston's death hardens him into a revenge-driven ColdSniper]].

* BitchInSheepsClothing: [[spoiler:He initially presents himself as an ally to the Candians and helps Ruby and Jet get information on Archbishop Alfredi. However, this turns out to be part of his plan to become the Imperator of Ceresia, after which he betrays the Rocks family by invading Candia to consolidate his power]].

* HufflepuffHouse: The Meatlands are the only major region of Calorum that is not directly involved in the central conflict of the campaign and has no major characters associated with them. By contrast, the protagonists are from Candia, their closest allies are from the Dairy Islands, Vegetania and Ceresia are home to two major villains and their associated armed forces, and Fructera is home to the dying Concordant Emperor, putting it at the center of most of the campaign's political intrigue.

* OutOfFocus: The Meatlands have no interest in getting involved with the conflict that drives the story. As such, only minor characters are associated with them.

* TheStoic: Barely shows emotion. The only time he does [[spoiler:is when Chancellor Lapin tricks him into thinking he's TheMole so Deeproot will expose his co-conspirators.]]

* MistreatmentInducedBetrayal: Zigzagged; whilst unfailingly loyal to the House of Rocks, [[PoorCommunicationKills]] their decision not to tell him about the true line of succession in the finale [[BrokenPedestal disillusions him]], prompting him to swear allegiance to Saccharina, though he ultimately is not forced to actively betray them; see below.
