While in the middle of the Dog-Show race, in the manga, Ganta is determined to win in order to live, getting upset when Shiro gets in his way, while in the anime, he wants to quit partway through, and gets beat down by Kozuji for his trouble, and only wins by luck. In another episode, it ends with Ganta being [[MindRape mind-fucked]] with footage from past Carnival Corpses, while in the manga, he is simply disturbed by the storage of parts of other Deadmen.

* StockShonenHero: Deconstructed. At the conclusion of the Forgeries Arc, [[spoiler: Ganta finds out Shiro is The Wretched Egg, and slips into a deep depression. As he returns to Deadman Wonderland, he resolves to kill the Wretched Egg, before realizing the suffering Shiro went through in his absense. In the end, he spares Shiro.]]

* AdaptationalWimp: While it is important to know that Ganta is a mere [[KidHero teenager]], the anime goes out of its way to amplify Ganta's negative traits. From being slapped as motivation, to being knocked down by [[spoiler: Senji's supersonic attack]], to being [[https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FKJwIAiaAAITnvA.jpg mind-raped by the footage of past Carnival Corpses]], many traits of which he had outgrown by the beginning of the 'Scar Chain Arc'

* DefeatMeansFriendship: 'Friendship' might be [[{{Jerkass}} a bit of a stretch]], at first, anyway, but she drops most of her more overt antagonism towards Ganta after her Carnival Corpse match against him.

* EvenEvilHasStandards: She may be an AxCrazy SociopathicHero, but even she was disgusted when she [[spoiler: learned the truth about the truth behind the Nameless Worm Virus and what horrible things Rin'ichiro Hagire and Sorae Igarashi did to Shiro.]]

* LovableSexManiac: A more deadlier version. In her fight with Ganta, she says she gets off by looking at the faces of people in pain. She later stops this though.

* BewaretheNiceOnes: Chaplin is a rather nice person but not piss her off, she is an experienced Deadman who has incredible control over her Branch of Sin.

* BattleAxeNurse: The good variant, of course. Though her friends think the occupation is at odds with her nature, her aspirations to ProperLady-hood would make it an obvious career choice. The "Battle Axe" part is sadly just Karako being herself.
** Oddly enough, in practice she appears to be an expert trauma surgeon, despite being specifically noted to be a nurse.

* FakeMemories: [[spoiler: Averted oh so cruelly. During his torture, Nagi screams that the memories of him going on a rampage were planted by Genkaku's injections, but they weren't. He just repressed them under stress. The drugs actually ''brought out'' the real memories.]]

* MadeOfIron: Survived Hibana's little ''ling chi'' session and ripped out his left arm once it's slice off with little to no reaction. [[spoiler:Might be a hint that he's a lot tougher than he looks, with that SuperpoweredEvilSide locked inside him.]]

Finally, he's whipped into the air, Frankensteiner'd onto a bed of spikes, lit on fire, and then blown to shreds by Ganta's enhanced Ganta Gun.]]

Makina's assistant, Kasuga is usually seen by her bosses' side. Kasuga often praises Makina and asks her personal questions, which Makina often answers.

* SmugSnake: [[spoiler:He fancies himself the ultimate [[TheChessmaster Chessmaster]] but in reality is just an overly confident and entirely UnwittingPawn in the schemes of the director.]]

* AlasPoorVillain: [[spoiler: Their deaths are easily the saddest in the series as they gave up their lives to save a man whom they loved but never loved them back and the worse part is that they already knew that he never loved them but they didn't care and gave up their lives for him anyway]]

* CreepyMonotone: Complimented by them always SpeakInUnison, giving them an uncanny vibe.

* AdultsAreUseless: The head monk at Genkaku's monastary never even considered that the reason Genkaku always appeared so beat up was because the other monks were physically and sexually abusing him, assuming instead that Genkaku was getting into fights that he instigated.

* CurbStompBattle: Along with Mozuri, he get's [[spoiler:annihilated by Crow]]. It happens so fast that he didn't even have time to react.

* GroinAttack: Happens off screen by his sister. He's seen talking to her alone in a room and later on the scene cuts back to him coming staggerring out of the room cupping his genitals while moaning in pain

* OccultBlueEyes: however he has blue eyes, and has a few schemes of his own.

* NeverBeHurtAgain: Having been let down by both her [[ParentalNeglect neglectful parents]] and her so called "friends" who let her take the fall for crime they committed, Azami does not let people get emotionally close to her. Thankfully [[PositiveFriendInfluence Ganta]] helps her grow out of this mindset.

* TheBrute: He is the most physically strong of the Forgeries and he relies mostly on pure strength when fighting since his Branch of Sin only increases his muscle mass by injecting Dopamine into his blood stream.

* BeautyIsNeverTarnished: Averted. After [[spoiler:being defeated by Masaru and Minatsuki, her face is left looking like a beat up hamburger stake]].

* DidntSeeThatComing: It never occurred to her that she might actually care about her child until it was too late.

* [[DaddyHadAGoodReasonForAbandoningYou Mommy Had a Good Reason for Abandoning You]]: She sends Ganta away to be raised by someone else, before offering Shiro as his replacement.

* SamusIsAGirl: Ganta immediately assumes her identity to be male, even referring to them as "The Red Man" but she is eventually revealed to be Shiro.

* CharacterTic: He really should see a chiropractor given how he has a tendency to pop his neck rather often. And by rather often we mean that [[UpToEleven we're surprised he hasn't broken it by now.]]

* SiblingYinYang: Toto is childish and playful and universally feared amongst the other Deadmen. She was a quiet, introverted DeathSeeker who enjoyed reading, and was routinely bullied before Toto started protecting her. [[spoiler:TurnedUpToEleven when it comes to Hagire, who she still refers to as her 'younger brother.']]

* ButtMonkey: He ends up getting beat up or injured in practically every episode he's in.

* BaldOfAwesome: He has very little hair, and what little there is is confined to the top of his head.
