An Expy refers to characters based on a character from a different franchise than their own. If a character is based on someone from their own franchise, they are a Suspiciously Similar Substitute.

* {{Expy}}: A man wielding a sickle kills a woman with no tongue for her soul, and you invade him in Anor Londo with a Black Eye Orb to get it back. Lautrec, is that you? Take his outfit into consideration and you pretty much have Lautrec dressed as Marvelous Chester.
** Also to the Hunters from Bloodborne. His statements on hunting down other players is eerily similar to how Bloodborne [=NPCs=] refer to hunting beasts. He himself will refer to the player as a "beast" should they attack him without provocation. His views on attacking other players and his eventual turn upon the leader of his own covenant likewise mirrors a hunter who has been infected and succumbing to the Scourge.

** When he invades you in the Undead Settlement, it's really easy to kill him by luring him into the graveyard (after befriending the Giant Archer first), then jump onto the island over the bottomless pit with the Undead Bone Shard. There's a good chance Hodrick will fall into the pit trying to get to you (it's easier when walking on the side of the island near the shack that leads to the Curse-Rotted Greatwood, since he will try to walk over the narrow gaps in that spot and probably fall through).

* EasyLevelTrick: His summon rematch both ''has'' one and ''is'' one, and they're the same trick. As a mad phantom, he's considered hostile by literally everything and everyone in the Road of Sacrifices, from tree-waving hollows to invaders to the giant crabs. As a result, instead of summoning him and fighting him one-on-one in an honourable, if hard and unrewarding, duel, you can instead kite him around the area, dragging him into fights with enemies who can be permakilled like the Exile Watchdogs or Yellowfinger Heysel; whoever survives the clash will be weakened and much easier for you to take down.

[[folder:Nestling/Pickle Pee]]

An unseen crow with a nest atop the
Firelink Shrine, he is aggressive to everyone that nears him. His clothing is extremely tattered and destroyed, barely covering anything.Shrine rotunda. Will trade special items with the player.

* BossInMookClothing: For how early he comes in the game (right after the tutorial). He's on par with a late-game EliteMook, meaning he has the same number of hit points as [[WarmUpBoss Iudex Gundyr]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1gnG7ESlhU and higher damage output]], on top of being both faster and a smaller target.
* ClothingDamage: According to the description on his clothing set, the reason his clothes are in such bad shape is due to him dodging many swords at once with amazing and masterful skill. The swords barely missed his body but cut into his clothes. However, the description ''also'' implies that this is just a story he made up to justify his clothes being in such a state, and also make himself sound more badass.
* CripplingOverspecialization: He is powerful in a sword fight, but he lacks any kind of armor or shield, making him easy to [[CycleOfHurting stunlock]] provided [[FragileSpeedster he doesn't do the same to you first.]] Or you can simply pelt him with arrows or magic from afar, which he has no defense against.
* CrutchCharacter: As a summoned NPC. Against [[WarmUpBoss Vordt of the Boreal Valley]], he'll be more than enough to help you slay him, but he won't fare anywhere as well against [[spoiler: [[WakeUpCallBoss Champion]] [[LightningBruiser Gundyr]]]]. Downplayed as he can at least serve as a distraction while you heal.
* DefeatMeansFriendship: If you killed him, he becomes a White Phantom and can be summoned for the boss fights against Vordt of the Boreal Valley, [[spoiler: Champion Gundyr]] and if you [[SequenceBreaking killed Emma before facing Vordt]], the Dancer of the Boreal Valley.
* DiscOneNuke: His weapon, the Uchigatana, is an exceptionally powerful starting weapon. And if you decided to kill Emma and face the Dancer of the Boreal Valley, both the Uchigatana and the Sword Master himself can become handy for dishing out bleed damage against the dancer provided you can keep him alive in the boss fight (such as wearing Skull Ring to allure the dancer to you).
* FullFrontalAssault: Downplayed. He looks effectively nude, but only it's because his tattered robe barely covers more than the base character model's underwear. In fact, his Loincloth actually covers ''less''.
* GoodBadBugs: Prior to Regulation 1.08, immediately re-summoning him right after he dies (or quitting the game immediately after he dies, continuing and re-summoning him) basically makes him invincible against both the Dancer of the Boreal Valley and [[spoiler:Champion Gundyr.]] Just sit back and let the boss try fruitlessly to kill him while he slices off their health. This is now fixed and he will no longer become invincible under the aforementioned circumstances.
* KatanasAreJustBetter: He wields the Uchigatana and if you summoned him, the Chaos Blade as well.
* MasterSwordsman: It's in his name. If you get close enough to him you'll quickly find out why.
* SecretTestOfCharacter: Implied considering his weapon as an ally is the much stronger Chaos Blade rather than the Uchigatana.

and higher damage output]], on top of being both faster and a smaller target.
* ClothingDamage: According to the description on his clothing set, the reason his clothes
"pickle-pee" are in such bad shape is due to him dodging many swords at once with amazing and masterful skill.
* DefeatMeansFriendship: If you killed him, he becomes a White Phantom and can be summoned

* DiscOneNuke: His weapon, the Uchigatana, is an exceptionally powerful starting weapon. And if you decided to kill Emma and face the Dancer of the Boreal Valley, both the Uchigatana and the Sword Master himself TheVoice: Doesn't show up herself physically, but can become handy for dishing out bleed damage against the dancer provided you can keep him alive in the boss fight (such as wearing Skull Ring to allure the dancer to you).
