I get the quote is iconic and all, but it's really becoming overused at this point, so replacing it with something else.

Batman is the least changed character in the DCAU from his comic book counterpart; he generally has the same origin via the fact that his parents were shot dead after the three of them went to see a movie and he decides to avenge them by becoming the vigilante Batman, complete with a Batmobile and a handy utility belt. He is also notable for being an amalgam of the Golden Age, Silver Age, and Bronze Age versions of the character. He's dark and brooding, but also an excellent ParentalSubstitute and even gets a few witty one-liners (as well as being caught in the occasional DeathTrap). He's the closest to being TheProtagonist of the entire DCAU more than any other character, and experiences complex CharacterDevelopment from an inexperienced but kind crime fighter to a more driven and brooding loner.

* Deconstruction: This version of Bruce Wayne ultimately shows what happens when Batman is forced to grow old. No matter how good he is, he can't escape his age; he's ultimately forced into retirement after being forced to use a gun to intimidate a random punk, and by the time Terry crosses paths with him he's become a pitiable old man with nothing but a dog and memories for company because being Batman consumed his life so utterly.

* ImpoverishedPatrician: It was never explored in the show, but DVD commentaries and behind-the-scene features reveal that Bruce has lost almost all of the vast Wayne Fortune in the intervening years between the present and the future eras of the DCAU. He survives on the returns from his stock holdings in Wayne-Powers, which he could sell for a massive profit, but he would never do so because he would lose any last remaining influence over the company.
