It probably would have gone better if he hadn’t been trying any counseling, since it turned out the explanations he was trying to give weren't even right.

* InsistentTerminology: He is ryu-youkai, not a vampire, [[{{Keigo}} that he is]].

Kenshin actually refers to himself using ''sessha'', a very archaic pronoun denoting extreme formality and humbleness of the speaker; it's best translated as something like "this unworthy person". Similarly, he ends most of his sentences with ''de gozaru'' (and iterations of it); ''de gozaru'' is the archaic polite form of ''desu'' and is stereotypically used by samurai and honour-bound swordsmen during the Edo period.[[/note]] He later drops this with his family and his lovers; they know that he is upset when he reverts to this manner of speaking.

* VerbalTic: Even after he drops the {{keigo}} speech, he still keeps his signature “de gozaru” [[labelnote: *]]written as “that it is” and variants in the fic[[/labelnote]] and an occasional “oro?”

* AdjustingYourGlasses: He does this every time he’s uncomfortable, or confident, or possibly just lacks something to do with his hands.
** SpecsOfAwesome: He does all his cool fighting with the glasses on.

** PropertyOfLove / HappinessInSlavery: It is what he wanted.

* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: He does have blue hair; he dyes it that way, apparently. Possibly because he’s a youkai fetishist (and unnatural hair colors are listed as a sign of youkai heritage).
