** It seems that she is dead in the anime, given that the preview in episode 283 shows she's going to get a flashback in the next episode. At least she got a few short fight scenes to make up for that.

* BaseBreaker: Many people find his ridiculous rate of power growth and reliance on HeroicResolve '''REALLY''' annoying.
* {{BFS}}: Even when it was in sealed form in the early chapters/episodes, it was still huge, a sign of his uncontrolled, unusually high spiritual power.
* BigBrotherInstinct: One of his biggest {{Berserk Button}}s is seeing an older sibling mistreat their little siblings. Even worse if it's a little sister.
* BullyHunter: Has always hated bullies, ever since he was a kid
* ChasteHero: Most of the time, though even he can't resist Matsumoto's glorious MammariaMajores.

* DeathIsCheap: He's ''technically'' died four times: he had to stab himself in the chest when he first gained his shinigami powers, then Urahara severed his chain of fate during training, and later Ulquiorra killed him twice. None of these have slowed him down much.
** He didn't die the first time. Shinigami power just only works when he leaves his body.
* {{Determinator}}: If he has to win, he'll keep fighting until he wins. Almost as if his CatchPhrase is "It's not because I can win or not. It's because ''I have to win''".
** [[FridgeBrilliance Recall when his inner hollow said the moment Ichigo's resolve wavers, he's going to take control, and giving up has been established as a visible demonstration of losing resolve. In the Kenpachi fight, Zangetsu made clear that he values winning more than anything; if Ichigo quits, Zangetsu probably won't have his back. In short, no matter how outmatched he was, Ichigo knows that the moment he surrenders, he'll lose control over his body to his hollow, and Zangetsu won't be able to help out. This is best-shown during his fight with Ulquiorra Cifer]].
*** And is currently the entire point to the new training arc. In short, Tensa Zangetsu is ''not'' happy that Ichigo pretty much [[HeroicBSOD gave up]] after Aizen and Gin's back-to-back [[HannibalLecture lectures]] and has basically told Ichigo that since he wussed out, he has zero interest in fighting for Ichigo's cause anymore.

* EstrogenBrigadeBait: His clothes get damaged a lot, and [[http://i37.tinypic.com/nf42oi.jpg this]] doesn't help. He's also pretty good looking.
* FaceOfAThug: Ichigo's hair is naturally blondish-red. This is very rare in Japan; most people have to bleach their hair to do so and are considered {{Delinquents}}. People always picked fights with him over this.

* FanNickname: His Hollow self, "Shirosaki"

* HurtingHero: He struggles with guilt over the death of his mother at the hands of the hollow Grand Fisher, feeling for quite some time that it was his fault. He also suffers from depression from time to time in the present, basically whenever he fails to completely save the day. At one point he was also barely holding back a HeroicBSOD after losing control of his Hollow, literally ripping Ulquiorra apart, impaling Ishida when he tried to talk him down, and making Orihime (the one he wanted to save) have an HeroicBSOD of her own over the whole deal. To top it off, in regards to both Aizen and his inner hollow, he now is faced with the knowledge that, no matter how much control he thinks he has, a moments' weakness is all it takes for him to lose everything, and no matter how much power he's accumulated up to a point, he'll never be able to so much as hold a candle against the BigBad.
* IdenticalStranger: Bears quite a resemblance to Kaien Shiba (both in personality and looks). This has been commented on a few times within the story and has led to some EpilepticTrees amongst the fans.
* IdiotHero: In a bit of a subversion, he ''does'' study well and makes good grades so he's not BookDumb, he just doesn't let this dictate his behavior.
** To be fair, it "does" look like he's trying to shake this. He [[spoiler: enters the latest fight trying to go for the back of Aizen's neck for a quick kill, and figures out the true nature of Gin's bankai and Gin's intentions in revealing a small part of it]]. Neither of those are what you'd call crowning moments of dumbass...
** Ichigo is actually an ''aversion'' for this trope, which is extremely rare when it comes to Shonen Protagonists. Aside from some LeeroyJenkins tendencies when his {{Nakama}} is threatened, Ichigo actually thinks out his actions.
*** Despite this, his early strategies were simply "stick a sword in it". His only thinking was about ''where'' to stick the sword. Yes, he's outgrown the trope by now, but it certainly applied until at least the end of the Soul Society arc.
* IronWoobie: Overlaps with the HurtingHero entry from above; no matter on whether you like the guy or not, there should be no debate on how he ''really'' needs to catch a break for once.

One of the main female characters. Rukia is the Soul Reaper that gave Ichigo his power at first and somehow acts like a guide to him. Until the Soul Society people dragged her back to the place and she spends the whole arc as a DistressedDamsel, heavily loaded ''not'' just by being a prisoner, but because she actually believes she's unworthy of living or being saved, due to a horrible incident in her past. In the Arrancar In Karakura arc, Rukia comes back and shows that her power is back, and she becomes quite an awesome ActionGirl. Her Zanpakuto is Sode no Shirayuki.

* InformedAbility: She's, allegedly, black belt (or yellow, in the anime) at karate, but only used her "abilities" ''once'' and off-screen to steal Shinigami uniforms for herself and Ishida.
* MeaningfulName: Orihime is the name of the princess from the Tanabata legend.
* TheMedic: Her other main mission, aside of being the local BarrierWarrior.
** HealingHands: By rejecting events up to resurrecting those whose body has been mostly eradicated.

He's also academically gifted and makes sewing [[WhatDoYouMeanItsNotAwesome looks completely awesome]].

The reason Harribel let herself care for them is so that when they die, she'd be that much more effective against her enemies. As cruel as this [[YourMilageMayVary could be for some]], the thing to note here is that Harribel [[PetTheDog genuinely cared for her fraccion as people and looked out for their well-beings]], which they themselves reciprocated quite strongly, even though they seemed pretty intimidated by her at some points.

Harribel fights on despite not taking any pleasure in combat to honor the sacrifice her friends made.
