!Paladins (UNMARKED SPOILERS)

Angelic beings created through Lucius using his Soul Magic to impart purified devil power to other people, granting them wisdom and undying bodies. They are soldiers who will fight for Lucius's vision and world peace.

* AngelicAbomination: The Paladins are people transformed into angelic beings that are blindly devoted to Lucius's cause.
* BackFromTheDead: Amongst the first few people Lucius resurrected, Heath Grice was one of them. Then, Acier Silva and Morgen Faust were resurrected by Lucius as Paladins to help him enact Judgement Day and it's highly implied they are not the only ones.
* CameBackWrong: Morgen and Acier were heroic magic knights that died fighting against evil. They then get resurrected as loyal servants to Lucius bent on making his EvilPlan come true.
* CombatPragmatist: They tend to use the most effective method to take out foes as quickly as they could, mentally torturing them, disarming them or one-shotting them with large and precise spells almost preemptively.
* ConvenientComa: If a Paladin is exorcised by Anti-Magic, they fall into a coma and don't wake up until Lucius Zogratis is defeated.
* EliteMook: They might be just the Elite Mooks of the Final Arc, but unlike the Dark Disciples who can be easily dismantled by even well trained third-rank mages, the Paladins are capable of feats that not even Elves or Devils had managed to do on-page and can easily defeat other skilled fighters playing on a similar field with them. Paladin Sister Lily can disarm Noelle (who just killed Megicula beforehand) before she could even do anything, Yrul can revive the legendary Five-Headed Dragon of the Land of the Sun and psychologically cripple two of the Ryuzen Seven just by using his regular Beast Magic spells and Heath Grice took out three of the Ryuzen Seven in one fell swoop through a combination magic attack with Sister Lily. The resurrected archmages used by Lucius in Judgement Day are even worse; on top of being resurrected former bigshots like Morgen and Acier, they can easily gravely injure the likes of Nozel and Jack the Ripper, something that no other enemy can do.
* InstantExpert: According to Lucius, people imparted with purified devils gain sacred wisdom. In practice, this translates to Paladins seemingly mastering complicated spells almost instantly, as shown when Sister Lily disarmed Noelle with a massive Spatial Box despite obtaining Beelzebub's power just right before.
* LightIsNotGood: They might be angelic warriors, but they are there to wipe out humanity for Lucius and resurrect them as more Paladins or immortal humans.
* MoreThanMindControl: The Paladins retain whatever personality they have before being hit by Lucius's Soul Magic, but their mind is hard-wired to be devoted fully to Lucius's cause. It's especially jarring when Sister Lily retains her motherly kindness but she's begging for Asta to die for the greater good in BrokenTears.
* MythicalMotifs: Angels, being {{Angelic Abomination}}s that are created by 'purifying' the powers of demons and are set to bring about a Holy War and an ApocalypseHow.
* SuperSoldier: At their very core, they're essentially this but with mages in a standard fantasy setting. Lucius even tells Noelle that they are higher beings granted wisdom and greatly enhanced magic.
* UndyingLoyalty: All Paladins are undyingly loyal to Lucius's cause, courtesy of him tampering with their souls.
* UnskilledButStrong: Subverted as far as non-humans are concerned -- Unlike Elves and Devils, these things don't simply spam high power magic, they use them rather tactfully as far as non-humans can go. Instead of spamming heavy spells with reckless abandon, the Paladins will attempt to directly counter or wear down their foes before they can even act.
* WalkingSpoiler: First because their creation is tied directly to Lucius and he is already the biggest example of this trope in the story. Second because the resurrections of certain characters as Paladins is a major plot twist for the final arc.
* WasOnceAMan: All Paladins we seen so far were people transformed/resurrected by Lucius.

* ApologeticAttacker: Toward Asta. Thanks to Lucius, she's convinced Asta must die for the sake of a perfect world, but she still loves him as her little brother. She starts breaking down during her fight with Asta, crying even as she's trying to kill him.
* BaddieFlattery: Was amazed when the five of the Ryuzen Seven slays the Five-Headed Dragon.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: A very dark example. After Lucius turns her into an AngelicAbomination, as she maintains her sweet, pleasant demeanour, but is (seemingly) perfectly fine with watching Asta be killed in front of her, and teleports his body far away from his allies with fatal injuries with a kindly smile on her face and assurances that this is for everybody's happiness.
* BrokenTears: Rare case of being PlayedForHorror. She actually sounds quite broken when she fights Asta, aside that she's begging him to die for the sake of Lucius's envisioned utopia. It sounds absolutely ''wrong'' rather than heartwarming.
* CombinationAttack: Ice x Spatial Magic: Endless Ice Fangs with Heath, an efficient attack that unleashes ice spikes from portals to attack from all sides. It's quick and powerful enough to one-shot three of the Ryuzen Seven before they can even make a move.
* DissonantSerenity: Paladin Sister Lily keeps her NiceGirl personality as her former, human self...aside that it's all rubbed in the wrong directions, having her soul tampered to be undyingly loyal to Lucius's cause. There's one point where she fights Asta and cries ''BrokenTears'' begging for him to die for the sake of the world peace and equality everyone wants.
* ElementalPunch: In a horribly twisted version of her RunningGag of using Holy Fist of Love on Asta, she hurls a souped-up version of that spell against him with the intent of killing him for Lucius's sake.
* FightingFromTheInside: Sister Lily herself denies this, but Asta is convinced that she subconsciously warped him to the Land of the Sun ''on purpose'' to save his life. Lily breaking down in tears and seemingly holding back while fighting him (like firing her magic wildly without aiming) seems to prove him right.
* HerosMuse: Lucius intentionally weaponizes Sister Lily's position as this against Asta, revealing himself and his plans to him just after Asta has a final conversation with her over his old desire to marry her, and after verifying that a straightforward clash between his Time magic and Asta's AntiMagic won't guarantee his victory, uses her as a demonstration of his Soul Magic to turn Lily into an AngelicAbomination. Her first words to Asta in this state being to sincerely plead with him to die for Lucius' goals and humanity itself, the shock of which distracts Asta enough for Lucius to land a seemingly fatal strike to his chest.
* MercyKill: Her remarks against the Ryuzen Seven are constant reminders that they will be given a painless death.
* PowerNullifier: Her "Spatial Magic: Sacred Devil Control" traps foes in boxes made out of Spatial Magic, locking away their mana and basically prevent them from doing anything to interfere. She can also use Zenon's Spatial Mana Domination to dispel individual magic.
* SmugSnake: Downplayed, but Sister Lily has a subtly condescending attitude when confronting the Ryuzen Seven, especially when she sees Kezokaku changing stances for the first time.
* SpaceMaster: After being converted by Lucius into a Paladin, she can use Beelzebub's spatial magic. Unlike past spatial magic users, Paladin!Lily can use hers to trap people, nullify their powers and dissolve whatever enchantments they have at the same time.

* BeastMaster: Unlike Vetto's Beast Magic, his is capable of outright ''controlling or manifesting'' magical creatures, reviving the ancient five-headed dragon and creating a bogeyman that can instantly incapacitate foes with their worst fears.
* CombatPragmatist: When the Ryuzen Seven kills the Five-Headed Dragon he summons and it's time for him to fight, he mentally tortures Kezokaku and Ichika by summoning the Bogeyman so they couldn't fight back before they can even so land a cut on him. Then he revives the Five-Headed Dragon the Ryuzen just slew only when all of them can no longer fight thanks to Lily and Heath Grice taking out the other three. The only thing stopping all five of them from dying and being remade into Paladins is Asta's timely intervention. Once he finds out the Bogeyman doesn't work on Asta, he instead uses the more standard Beast Magic to attempt on his life only for Asta to land a Zetten-enforced cut on him, incapitating him.
* MightyRoar: His "Holy Beast Howling" has him let out a loud roar that can revive ancient, magical creatures, purify their magic power and put them under his command. He uses this magic to summon the legendary Five-Headed Dragon against the Ryuzen Seven.
* MindRape: His Bogeyman attack wears down Kezokaku and Ichika quickly so they can no longer fight. The only thing saving them is a timely rescue from Asta who intercepted the creature before it could land a hit on Ichika.
* PartialTransformation: Just like Vetto, he can use his Beast Magic in a more standard way, awakening his primal instincts and blitzing around at incredible speeds. He starts doing this when he finds out his Bogeyman doesn't work on Asta. However, thanks to Asta's Zetten training, he outmaneuvers him.
* ThingsThatGoBumpInTheNight: He can summon a Bogeyman that automatically takes the form of his foe's worst fears. For Kezokaku it turned into a frog, and for Ichika it took the form of her father and shown her visions of her slaughtering her own clan back in her childhood. Not only that, it physically transforms into its victim's worst fears and moves in for the kill when they're at their most vulnerable.

* NonchalantDodge: When a wounded Jack uses his "final slash" to protect Yami from one of Morgen's attacks and to try killing the Paladin in one strike, Morgen demurs taking it head-on, and nimbly sidesteps it. Seeing how Jack's gambit was mighty enough to instantly kill two of his minions, bisect the city, and gouge a deep cut into the earth, Morgen praises the blow and assures his opponents that it would've outright killed him if it had landed.
* YinYangBomb: He can use both Light and Dark Magic at once to great effect.
