Oddly enough, it's inverted when he's the only one to realize that [[spoiler:a barely conscious Hilda was actually Yolda, even though they're almost-identical sisters and Yolda was wearing Hilda's clothes, [[ShippingGoggles a fact many shippers have noticed]]]].

* BattleCouple: That's what the whole school ''assumes'' he and Hilda are. At first, nothing could be farther from the truth, but now...28

* {{Badass}}: For most of the series she was a good deal stronger than Oga, and even though he's probably stronger than she is by the America Arc, she's still easily the strongest female character we've seen, and it's implied she has yet to fight at full strength.

* NotLoveInterest: She's believed by many to be the Beel's mother and Oga's wife, but in actuality, she tended to be more disgusted by him than anything, and even on her good days, she was tolerant of him at best. However, after she regains her memory she goes back to behaving like before...or does she?]]

* NotLoveInterest: She's believed by many to be the Beel's mother and Oga's wife, but in actuality, she tended to be more disgusted by him than anything, and even on her good days, she was tolerant of him at best. * ChasteHero: He has shown no interest whatsoever in girls, relationships, or other gender-related high school trappings.

* DistressedDamsel: Exploited early on. She gets caught by some low level delinquents with the excuse being that they drugged her, but then it turns out she just wanted to lure Oga into getting into a fight. She was fine the whole time. [[spoiler:Played much more straight when she is kidnapped by Behemoth and Jabberwock; despite being badass about it and not going down without a fight, she's eventually overwhelmed and has her memory wiped.]]

* MosesInTheBullrushes: Subverted, as his father willingly gave him up, and he was not completely abandoned as he still had Hilda and Arandron.

* [[TheCallKnowsWhereYouLive Arandron Knows Where You Are And Will Abduct You]]: He is not allowed to go on vacation or even sleep when Oga and the gang want him for something (usually nothing). They make Arandron go kidnap him.

* TheDragAlong: To the point that Oga and Hilda will send out Arandron to kidnap him just to drag him along.

* KnightInShiningArmor: He wanted to be this to save Arandron's daughter, Angelica, but, well, not much came of that.

* NotWhatItLooksLike: Because he is the ButtMonkey, he had to try and explain [[MachoCamp Arandron]] moving in with him and talking like he and Furuichi are lovers to his parents. Plus the episode when Lamia visits his house...

* PrettyFreeloaders: [[MachoCamp Arandron]] is living with him. Subverted.

* TigerVersusDragon: The dragon to Tojo's tiger. The character for dragon (''tatsu'') is also in his name.

He understands speech but can't speak himself yet, instead making typical baby noises (often accompanied by subtitles, for instance when conversing with another baby and a household deity) and is always naked with a pacifier in his mouth. He, like Oga, is shown to get angry easily and often copies Oga's movements and mirrors his reactions. He provides most of the story's comic relief.

* LauncherOfAThousandShips: Furuichi is unexpectedly popular and fandom will ship him with just about anyone. Even [[PrecociousCrush Baby Beel]].

* AntiHero: Early on, he was a pretty straight BloodKnight who tried passing Beel off to whoever would take him and who was lacking in any friends beyond Furuichi. However, by the end of the Ishiyama High arc he had evolved into a JerkWithAHeartOfGold who, while still [[HeroicComedicSociopath a sadistic delinquent]], had begun to deeply care for his family and even a little bit for his friends. By the time of the Return to Ishiyama Arc, he'd evolved into what can best be described as a [[TheSociopath sociopath's]] attempt at a standard shonen protagonist; trying to do good things, looking out for his friends, but not quite managing it because his solution to everything was still to punch things until they go away and while his moral compass ''had'' been repaired somewhat, it was still rather defective. Plus, there's still the fact that he tends to be a major dick sometimes simply ForTheLulz.

* BelligerentSexualTension: It becomes more and more apparent that he has this with Hilda (instead of the two of them straight-up hating each-other's guts) as the story progresses.

* FaceOfAThug: [[http://www.citymanga.com/beelzebub/chapter-1/15 No kidding]]. It's enough to scare ''[[spoiler:Yolda]]'' shitless... He doesn't seem to realize though.

* HeroicComedicSociopath: NominalHero? Check. Sociopathic towards everyone and enjoys being excessively violent? Check. {{Jerkass}}? Check. Usually gets away with it? Check. It's all PlayedForLaughs? Check. Oga is definitively one of these.

* HarmlessElectrocution: Thankfully for Oga. The "outside of a certain radius, the electric shocks become lethal" aspect of them has seen the radius steadily extended over the series.

Oga was picked to become Beelzebub's father because he possessed the qualities of the ideal parent for the future Devil King: [[CharlesAtlasSuperpower strength]], [[{{Jerkass}} arrogance]], and a [[SociopathicHero think-nothing-]][[HeroicComedicSociopath of-fellow-man]] outlook. Despite this, Oga isn't completely evil: he only really bullies those stupid enough to attack him in the first place and is willing to stick his neck for his TrueCompanions without a second thought. He also takes time to teach Baby Beel what it means to be a "real man" (when he's not trying to get rid of him that is). He easily gives in to flattery and is an avid ''VideoGame/DragonQuest'' fan.

* BloodKnight: He hasn't turned down a fight in the series so far, and has even started a few (or at least tried) that were really unnecessary.

* ActionGirl: Hilda's overwhelming strength and vast magical power makes her a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield. Even Saotome was impressed that an uncontracted nursemaid could be so powerful in the human world.
