* BreakoutCharacter: When Peggy Carter debuted in the comics, it was to be a TemporaryLoveInterest to ComicBook/CaptainAmerica during his time in UsefulNotes/WorldWarII, but she debuted in UsefulNotes/TheSixties, [[{{Retcon}} long after]] Cap's regular WWII war stories were over. At first she appeared only in {{Flashback}}s (in her first story she wasn't even named!). Under these circumstances, she's rarely been anything more than a SatelliteLoveInterest in the comics. But when ''Film/CaptainAmericaTheFirstAvenger'' came out, since 99% of the film takes place during the War, she naturally had a [[AscendedExtra much bigger role]]. She took center stage in the [[Film/MarvelOneShots Marvel One-Shot]] ''Film/AgentCarter'', which was such a huge hit that it [[SpinOff spun off]] into [[Series/AgentCarter her own regular TV series]]. It's worth noting that the filmmakers have tried to use Peggy in every single (Earth-bound) MCU vehicle after ''The First Avenger''[[spoiler: until ''Film/CaptainAmericaCivilWar'', shere she dies offscreen of old age]]. Creator/JossWhedon wrote a scene for her in ''The Avengers'', and she has cameos in ''The Winter Soldier'', ''Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'', ''Age of Ultron'' and ''Ant-Man''.

* HerHeartWillGoOn: She married and had a good life after losing Steve, but always kept him in her heart.

* ActionGirl: Determined to see a victory through for the Allies, and a participant as well in a couple of their battles.

* {{Badass}}: Does a pretty good job of DrillSergeantNasty to US Army recruits. She stands in front of a moving car to shoot down a Nazi spy and goes into battle with Captain America at a time in history when women were not typically allowed in front-line combat.

* {{Badass}}: Hunt is incredibly formidable; he's experienced, tough and almost fearless. The amount of people who can go toe-to-toe with Peggy Carter is low indeed. He also shrugs off enough tranquilizer to put down a rhino, and springs back within seconds after Peggy finally knocks him out.

* {{Badass}}: You have to be a badass to rise to become the leader of a crime syndicate.

** [[spoiler: The strength of their marriage is shown when Ana is shot by Whitney. Jarvis is downright devestated and fears for his wife's life, even shoots Whitney in retaliation. During her recovery, he vows to protect her with his life and makes sure she is well taken care of even on the mission. When he tries to stay behind with Ana while Peggy and the others deal with Whitney, Ana shows her support of his adventures by insisting he go with Peggy to stop Whitney. She can also tell he's hiding something...that Ana had her womb punctured by the gunshot and now they can't have children.]]

* LawOfInverseFertility: {{Downplayed}} in that Jarvis and Ana aren't actively trying for a baby and apparently haven't even decided if they want kids yet, [[spoiler:but the news that she's now infertile is upsetting to them, though their relationship doesn't seem to suffer because of it.]]

* HiddenDepths: When we finally meet her, she seems to be a very typical, if not even air-headedly naive housewife. In reality, however, she's very much GenreSavvy, integrated with Edwin Jarvis's unusual line of work, and is pretty much poised to be Peggy's own version of [[Franchise/JamesBond Q]].

* DudeWheresMyRespect: She's probably the greatest scientist in the MCU in any era... but because she's a woman her scientific talents get zero recognition, which causes her to have a very bitter outlook on life. Even being a famous movie star doesn't get her that much respect because of Hollywood's attitudes about looks, and aging, etc.

* MamaBear: When Sousa threatens Manfredi, she grabs a knife and ''lunges'' at him, until her grandson holds her back.
