* The book showcases how subtly awesome the staff of Buckingham Palace are when they suddenly have to accommodate a 24 foot guest on extremely short notice. Mr Tibbs, for example, works out how much everything will have to be scaled up within a few short seconds of being told about the BFG. He then comes up with how to scale up everything that needs scaling up, such as using the gardener's spade in place of a fork.

* The live action version has a pretty epic scene for the BFG. When the giants invade his workshop and Sophie is endangered, the BFG fights them off using a hot fire poker and a bucket of water(which the giants hate), warning them to never return to his home, finally standing up to them.

* Sophie coming up with the plan to ask the Queen for help is simply genius. By making her dream about events that were happening, or going to happen (giants eating children, Sophie sitting on her window and the BFG waiting in the garden), Sophie found a foolproof way to convince the Queen not to have the BFG arrested on sight.

** Special mention goes to the SAS, especially their commander. To run towards a man-eating giant, which is beginning to break its bonds, to pull one of your own men to safety while calling in a net drop takes stones.Even the BFG takes back his negative opinions on some humans at seeing their bravery.

* The BFG's showdown with the Fleshlumpeater. The BFG has been tormented by the brute for years and is obviously scared of him, being smaller and weaker. Despite this, he stands up to his longtime adversary to protect Sophie. Even better, he manages to defeat him thanks to a nightmare he had locked up.
