** Also unstated is that the RX-78 is made simple to operate, so that a rookie pilot will be able to learn how to operate it in minutes or even by reading the manual while already in the cockpit, and could bring back extremely accurate combat information. The latter was because Tem Rei anticipated he wouldn't get everything right on the first try and there would always be room for improvement anyway, but when he disappeared the Federation's other mobile suit engineers were able to use that detailed information and continuously improve the Gundam and the GM and develop new machines based on Amuro's combat data.

* Every time the Gundam or its derivatives fight is an unstated moment of awesome for Tem Rei, who developed it. Yes, he was a horrible person responsible for half of Amuro's psychological issues, but when tasked to develop a mobile suit from scratch and make it comparable to the already field tested MS-05 Zaku I he not only pulled it off, he developed a far superior machine ready for things that couldn't possibly be anticipated (such as the epic moment when Char tried to force the Gundam into re-entry knowing it would be destroyed only for the Gundam to deploy an anti-heating coating developed and installed just in case the Gundam was forced into re-entry), with even the downgraded mass-produced version handily outperforming the Zaku I and the Zaku II, turning the tables on Zeon and forcing them to play catch up - and fail, as by the time they managed to field monsters that could compare to the GM it was far too late and the Federation was already testing even superior machines.

Added DiffLines:

* The Mobile Suit Gundam’s first battle against two Zakus. Amuro just skimmed through the pilot’s manual and while he’s pretty shaky, he manages to take down two enemy mobile suits while learning how the controls work.

Up To Eleven is a defunct trope

* During the final episode, Amuro and Char trade blows in the Gundam and Zeon's final weapon, the Zeong, respectively. The Zeong is a war machine armed with multiple beam weapons within its body, independently-controlled fists with rocket propulsion and beam weapons on each finger, and armor so heavy it needed to be specialized for space combat because they couldn't finish it in time. And even in this half-finished state, it's a monster of a mobile suit. Amuro still brings it down, but it's not over yet; Char disengages the head, revealing it to be a separate craft with its own weaponry, and blasts off the Gundam's arm and head before hightaling it out of there laying down covering fire for himself the entire way. Amuro proceeds to send the Gundam walking down the hall Char fled down, program it to fire straight up the moment it gets a chance, and use a jetpack to exit the mobile suit to wait so he can catch Char as he tries to eject. With a one-in-a-million shot on such a small target using pre-established commands, the Gundam manages to clip the Zeong's thrusters and bring it down as the behemoth shears off the Gundam's other arm and melt through its leg, resulting in Amuro and Char essentially gaining a mutual kill on eachother's mobile suits as the explosions knock them both clear. This moment, dubbed The Final Shot/Last Shooting, has become so iconic of the franchise that it's been immortalized time and again whenever the original RX-78-2 and the Zeong are in the same space.

Spoilers shouldn't be marked on Awesome subpages.

* When assassinates in "Space Fortress: A Baoa Qu", showing just who is going to be the last Zabi standing. After so many drawn out, bombastic space battles, seeing a SmugSnake go out with a well-deserved gunshot to the head is pretty damn satisfying. 's chilling IDidWhatIHadToDo speech is rather epic as well, showing that patricide is not cool in Zeon.
-->"Get rid of the body! Even a supreme commander can't get away with . If any of you disagree, then file charges against me after the battle's over!"

** This is made even more epic by the reaction of the bridge crew: after a few moments, one of them notes that the battlecarrier Dolos has just been destroyed and broadcasts that was on that ship, with nobody telling the truth. Everybody agreed with her.

* Then Char gets his own back in his last scene of the show, where he braves a CollapsingLair to deliver final vengeance for his father in a manner most awesome - namely, by [[spoiler: nailing Kycilia in the face with a bazooka. From the other side of her battleship, from a considerable distance away, through the battleship's front window, while flying on a jetpack and while said battleship was rapidly ascending on an escape course with said Zeon station rapidly falling apart around him, not long after he just got stabbed in the head with said head wound still bleeding. Char bet it all on a long shot and won despite the odds. Hot damn.]]

** He caps this in the final episode, by taking down the Zanzibar-class mobile cruiser Chimera with a man-sized bazooka with the aforementioned factors working against him like the Chimera's rapid ascent and his own gaping head wound. The best part is that it was by accident: he was just [[spoiler: decapitating Kycilia]] with the bazooka, and the shot happened to wreck the piloting systems and kill everyone on the bridge, sending the ship to crash.

It always seemed like Char was being kinda vague with Garma there, just saying that Garma was born in the wrong family and thathis father was to blame, not much else.

* Char for how he handled his best friend, another Zabi. A normal bastard will leads his best friend right into an enemy trap. A Magnificent Bastard? Calls him on the phone, explains his motives, and waves good-bye.

* How could you guys forget the battle at Side 6? A damaged White Base is being pursued out of a neutral colony by two Zeon battleships. Right after passing the neutral perimeter and into no-man's space, Bright chooses to engage the enemy which is still inside of the neutral zone and cannot fire back. The result? White Base utterly destroys the enemy with Amuro single-handedly shooting down 9 out of 12 enemy Rick Dom suits and downing a battleship. All in the matter of three minutes.
