Estate tic happy ending; second hand knowledge but did they ever say that Earth was being overpopulated or the company needs this resource instead of just wanting to use it to make a profit
Why is this even here? So some people don't like the movie, no need to act like they're A. Wrong or B. A minority.
- Vocal Minority: While perhaps few people really loved the movie, both critical and audience responses were favorable overall. Despite this, a few very loud internet reviewers absolutely hate the movie and give the impression that everyone hates the movie too.
This does not appear to be an example; the trope is not about "flaws" as much as about a negative reaction to popular works:
- It's Popular, Now It Sucks!: See the trope entry in that page for more.note Considering that this is the highest grossing film of all time, its flaws have been emphasized much more than most other titles. note
Even without mentioning the movie's flaws being emphasized, this trope and Hype Backlash should both be listed as examples because considering the treatment it typically gets on the internet even nearly 8 years after it came out, it might as well be the poster boy for those tropes as far as Live Action Film is concerned.
Edited by SammyDragon92Recommend adding Harsher in Hindsight considering current events: "Venezuela...that was some mean bush."
I am not an atomic playboy.I guess I'll post this here: I totally want to see a movie featuring people in AMP suits. So much more badass than the smurfs.
Edited by Scardoll Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.The following entries need expansion:
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman Hide / Show RepliesOk, most of that edit was needed but why remove Draco in Leather Pants? Few to no actual fans like him, it's more people who dislike the film latching onto him because he's the antagonist. For that matter, Critical Backlash needs to go back there despite some editors' personal view. Also, what with the starship troopers Pot Hole?
Edited by DSFARGEGI'm seriously questioning the legitimacy of listing Unfortunate Implications here on YMMV/Avatar. Every comment following it is Natter, the original entry is filled with half-truths, and the Unfortunate Implications page says "don't list this as a trope on a work's page". I'm voting for a removal of it.
Hide / Show RepliesThis is the YMMV page, so it's alright as not if it's too controversial.
Good lord, have you seen the page history? It's dogged by a hardcore fanboy who deletes anything he dislikes.
Would you like to know more? You aren't in the right just like he isn't. There's no need to resort to name-calling after the fact.
And if you really want to continue the debate, take it to Headscratchers.

Could Protagonist-Centered Morality be in play here in either YMMV or the main page? Think about it: the RDA has come to Pandora to mine for something that could solve Earth’s energy crisis and possibly save both it and mankind, which we all IRL belong to. However, the narrative is on the side of those who seem to care more about the Na’vi and studying them, Eywa and Pandora’s ecology for no immediately apparent benefit than they do about either humanity or Earth, and side against and possibly willfully doom both to a fate worse than anything Pandora or the Na’vi have faced at the hands of the RDA.
