The changes reflect the consensus reached by Trope Repair Shop.
The WhipItGood thread is here. The SaiGuy thread is here.
If you have concerns about these decisions, and similar decisions in the future, that's probably something to raise on the TRS discussion threads.
However, in both of these cases, the key statement seems to be the one added to the disambig pages: "Wielding a specific weapon is not a trope on its own".
Shouldn't Zoo have a page since there two Similarly Named Works with pages (Zoo & Zoo)
Hide / Show RepliesI ask because the one I created was Cutlisted the same day I created it
Nope. De novo disambiguations between works with the same title in different namespaces are much better handled by auto-disambig.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanCan we put this index under Rule of Fun?
Yes, I am the guy who refused to call Magikarp Power "not worth the effort" Hide / Show RepliesI really don't see how that works.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.I feel like there should be some kind of notice that if you're putting a page on this index, you should be making sure the page type is set to "disambig" unless there's an overriding reason not to, especially if it's due to someone converting a former work page or redirect.
Hide / Show Replies^Done.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThanks, though TBH there are a few pages that actually should be other page types. I've come across some pages on the list that really were tropes, works (usually franchises), or indexes.
Incidentally, I went through the current list. Ended up fixing about 85 pages' types, about 35 of which were incorrectly listed as works (hopefully will help out with the Namespace Migration a little).
Edited by ArkadyDarellI've been thinking. As long as there are disambiguation pages that are under the franchise namespace, would they still have to be here?
Edited by EarlOfSandvich I now go by Graf von Tirol. Hide / Show Replies^I don't think so. This is probably just for pure disambigs.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanFranchise pages probably don't count, since they have more material on them than just a list of "you might be looking for X" links.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"
Please help me understand, WHY exactly are we doing away with tropes such as "Whip It Good," "Sai Guy," etc.? Doesn't their abolishment dismiss the point of their association with certain characters in different works (e.g. the Belmont family's use of whips in Castlevania, or Raphael's use of sais)?
