With what? There aren't any decent in-game Pokedex sprites.
We'll have to wait until the National Dex for Sun and Moon opens up and every Pokedex sprite is available for use. By then, all the other pages will get the sprite facelift for Gen VII.
And no, using an anime image, official artwork or a screenshot will not do.
I understand why it's being put on hold, but I thought Magiana had enough information. It is confirmed to be mythical, and is paired with and being chased by Volcanion in the 19th movie (only Volcanion knows its "secret"), another Gen VI legendary. I'm not arguing, just pointing out that we do know a little bit. http://bulbanews.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Magiana_revealed_by_CoroCoro_magazine
Edited by 8BrickMario Hide / Show RepliesAgreed. We blacklisted Volcanion until it was officially revealed, but Magiana has already been given a full introduction, if fairly ambiguous.
I'd still wait until we get word on a Gen 7 set of games. I don't think its appropriate to put it in the Gen 6 Pokemon page, nor would it be appropriate to make a brand new page for a single Pokemon.
I never quite realized what it has going for a possible Gen VII. Main theory for it is that it isn't in the files for X/Y/ORAS, but against it is its justaposition with confirmed Gen VI Volcanion. And I highly doubt an event-exclusive mythical would be the first Gen VII mon revealed. However, the movie may well be a segue between generations. Time will tell.
Edited by 8BrickMarioPokemon.com finally reveals Magearna. All it did was states it's a mythical Pokemon and it's known as the Artificial Pokemon, it is set to debut in the next movie coming in 2016. But compare to other Pokemon that isn't Mega Mewtwo Y that has an earlier appearance in the movie, there's plenty of information. So it's possibly not a Generation 7 Pokemon especially since there's no news about Generation 7 games yet.
Yes, it's actually suppose to be called Magearna.
Edit: damn it game freak
Edited by flamemario12My position is that it can't be Gen VII if it's an event Mythical. Those are always revealed far after the main games' release (not the first revealed from a new pair of games), so it has to be a patch-added Gen VI Pokemon or from a new third version if anything. But even so, we still need official confirmation, which could take months at this rate.
EDIT: Pokemon Direct will probably solve this, as it's gotta mean SOME new game announced soon! DOUBLE EDIT: Sun and Moon will bring our answers. Goodbye Gen VI!
Edited by 8BrickMarioThe article says the starters, Xerneas, and Yveltal were the first Generation VI Pokémon revealed. I recall that Sylveon was the first. Is that so? are the other ones "first" because the latter debuted before Gen VI was revealed?
Hide / Show RepliesNo, Sylveon came out later. Starters and the two cover legendaries were in the direct.
Death is a companion. We should cherish Death as we cherish Life. The Cell "Shout-Out" is a huuuuuuuuuuge stretch, and nowhere near the level of connection we prefer for a Shout-Out.
Also, Bulbapedia has Zygarde as a whole being representative of Loki's children, with 10% being Fenrir, 50% being Jörmungandr, and Complete being Hel.
Which seems like an equally, if not huger stretch to me.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with? Hide / Show RepliesThe reasoning behind the original hidding of unrevealed Pokemon (data riping not being reliably done compared to previous generations) is no longer a issue. Now that game data can be reliably extracted and understood, unrevealed stuff would probably be better as spoilered out. Because an encyclopedical site pretending something doesn't exist is just malapraxis, and it is enough of an eyesore having Bulbapedia do that. Plus, if we go by just official stuff, why does Missingno. have an entry?
We got official info from CoroCoro! Shall the uncommenting commence?
Edited by SchezoroarkWhile the Norse theory is easily the most popular, I feel that maybe we could open up a discussion about other potential theories that are overlooked that are just as fitting as it.
For instance, I feel that the Hindu theory mentioned in the Fridge Brillance page has some of merit to it. The three aspects that are represented by the trio, life, destruction, and order/balance, are concepts that are associated with the Hindu Triad Brahma, Shiva and Vishnu respectively and would fit into the idea that the three concepts are balancing elements. On top of that, Ananta Shesha is the multi-headed lord of all Nagas who's associated with Vishnu, fits the design concept of Zygarde as the five appendages coming from its head look similar to faces. Shesha is also notable in that if it coils forward or backwards, creation will either take place or the universe will cease to exist, which would be fitting for Zygarde being the "leader" of the trio.
Hide / Show RepliesThe theories should just stay off the main character page and be kept in YMMV.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?At which point then I have to question the addition of the Norse Theory to the character page as well. It's plausible, but just like it's counterparts it doesn't have anything conclusive to it that isn't fan speculation. The only thing it has is that "it's popular," which doesn't make it anymore accurate.
It's a double standard to allow one theory into the character page and yet reject another regardless of its potential feasibility as well.
Edited by 144.92.195.117Yeah, all these theories ought to be put in YMMV or WMG.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThis is a recurring problem in "reference" tropes; personally, i guess that, with the exception of examples confirmed by Word of God, the examples of said tropes are closer to speculation.
Yeah, and that's something I've been noticing. I'm not going to say that the theories are completely offbase or nonfactual, but the problem with those examples is that not only are they arguable (which comes with speculation), but they can also have equal standing with other theories and fan ideas, in which case we'd have to cater to all those theories.
Personally, I agree with Septimus Heap about this. As popular as these theories are, they're still theories based in speculation and we shouldn't place one above the others. It's probably best just to leave them on the YMMV or WMG page unless we have something more concrete. That way, the theories are recognized but are still understood to be mostly speculation on the part of the fans.
Edited by 24.241.224.206This remind of me of that discussion I saw some time ago in Bulbapedia over whether Volcarona was based on Mothra or not (which has also been removed from its character page here, by the way, I hope it was moved and not just deleted). I agree more with the reasoning given here for such deletions, though.
Moving the theories to the YMMV or Fridge pages seems okay. The problem with moving them to the WMG page is that they're now impossible to find. After reading this, I've tried to locate those theories in the WMG page for Generation VI. I had to give up because it's full of much less plausible theories, many of them already debunked by now anyway. Any theory that gets moved there is just as if it had been outright deleted, because it's impossible to find anything there. Thank god the YMMV page is much cleaner.
Edited by 83.138.198.171 Seriously, my avatar comes from the embodiment of the So Bad, It's Good trope.... incidentally, almost everything said about Mothra and Volcarona are just... moth things. "They both attack with scales!" so does damn near every single bug Pokemon. And Mothra's scales are closer to Poison Powder. "They're the same color!" ... they're both based off the Atlas Moth. "He uses fire! Mothra is sorta Phoenix-like!" The one phoenix trait Mothra doesn't have and never did? Any association with fire.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.Does anyone know where Delphox stands competitively with Chesnaught and Greninja in non-single battle environments? I can already say that it will have the edge over Victini at VGCs simply because Victini is not allowed at them.
Edited by 173.58.248.100 Hide / Show RepliesInferior. The Edgequake and Surf weakness is bad enough, but Delphox also lacks in auxiliary moves, while Chesnaught has Spiky Shield and Greninja has Mat Block.
Edited by 99.235.130.144 Yes, I am the guy who refused to call Magikarp Power "not worth the effort"Edgequake is the combination of Stone Edge and Earthquake for physical coverage. It's pretty common to have both attacks on competitive teams on at least 2 Pokémon.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Delphox is outclassed by Volcarona. Volcarona has higher HP and better Sp.Attack. It also can learn Quiver Dance.
Where did the information on Yveltal's name pronunciation come from? I'm somewhat skeptical about it being a direct shout-out like it says on the character page.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?New question: When can we leak Volcanion ans the other two secret Mons?
And Mega Lati@s?
Yes, I am the guy who refused to call Magikarp Power "not worth the effort" Hide / Show RepliesBecause we don't want to be sued and/or get a cease and desist order.
Also, for the same reason we bother with spoiler tags anywhere.
Edited by 128.84.124.58Because maybe... People may not actually want to be completely spoiled before the games actually come out? Isn't that the craziest?
It really isn't hard to wait 5 more days.
Wait, people can get sued for this?
Then how does Wikileaks stay afloat?!
...Burn...In the past, we've used the in-game sprites to represent each Pokémon. With X and Y being completely 3D, how will we represent the new Pokémon?
Personally, I'd prefer if the 'net was a little friendlier, but you know the GIFT... Hide / Show RepliesWe'll probably do whatever Bulbapedia is going to end up doing. I'm guessing the Pokedex will have nice neutral poses on a nice neutral background and can be screencapped.
Either official art, or pics of the models. I'd say the older gens would get an update as well...
It seems unnecessary to stretch out the image up loader just to "update" designs that will not be changing just because there happens to be an art shift. For the new mons, the Pokedex will likely have stills.
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackWell, we'll wait and see, but I kinda doubt it, seeing how they like their 3D...
The gen 5 Pokedex had stills instead of animated sprites. I think we'll be okay in gen 6.
Stills that could be animated. Not to mention, having an actual sprite still, and having an image of a model, are different things.
It could either be non-animated stills, or we could end up using miniaturized versions of the official art.
Even though it would cause an Art Shift, should we have to use official art for the Gen VI Pokémon, let's only focus on them and not try to change the rest of the generations.
The rest of the generations used the BW sprites because these pages started to flourish around the time the BW sprites were ripped, on the basis that official art would leave event Pokemon out, and Mystery Dungeon portaits would leave the 5th gen out. I agree on the image server being overloaded would be a bit of a problem, but, if this gen introduces new members of old families, we are going to run into a bit of trouble. In my opinion, I'd have all 7 as of now pages consistent in terms of images, but first lets see if we get some sort of image file out of the new games when they come out; I have yet to see stuff ripped out of a 3DS game...
All right, whoever keeps changing the character page, for love of God please stop! First you had the leaked starter evos and some other pokemon that aren't "official" like Diggersby, then you took them down again but left Fletchinder and Heliolisk, Make. up. your minds. Already.
Do Furabebe have one leg or two legs? The fan art made me confused.
Hide / Show RepliesIt seems like the lower half of its body resembles the lower half of a flower.
Is it me or does Fennekin look more of a pre-evolve form of Ninetales than Vulpix does?
Edited by CJF Hide / Show RepliesIt says there are over 150 new pokemon. Where is the source of this info? That's the first I've heard of it.
Hide / Show RepliesWhere did they get info justifying that "six meters" claim?
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackAccording to Serebii, it's actually 5.8m, but I still don't know about the 150 new pokemon thing.
Oh, here is another one. How do we know Fennekin has psychic moves yet? Because it had a pink/purple looking attack? Hyper beam was purple in Black2 White2's trailer.
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackI think we have an edit war on whether Fennekin can use Psychic-type moves or not. I hope it gets resolved before the mods have to do something extreme.
Personally, I'd prefer if the 'net was a little friendlier, but you know the GIFT...
Can someone add Ash-Greninja's image?
