What's really annoying about X6 is that it has arguably one of the better plots in the series and does more to complicate and build the setting than most other entries
Somehow being a rushed cash in allowed them to stop half assing the story AND obscured said story behind impenetrable translation

Forever liveblogging the AvengersI actually beat X6 with 100% completion a long time ago and it's honestly a pretty good game. It's just frustratingly hard at times. A new translation and a bit of rebalancing and it'd probably be considered one of the best ones. It certainly has the coolest armors for X in any of the games and some really cool areas.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Yeah, X6 is definitely one of the better stories in the series when you get a good translation of it.
Plus Gate, IMO, was a far better villain than Sigma ever was.
Stella ~Part 3 (Atelier Shallie)Gate and Lumine both have interesting relationships with Sigma - in both cases, it's a bit more complicated than "BLEUGH IT WAS ME, SIGMA, ALL ALONG!"
If anyone is interested, here is the link to the X6 re-translation.

"Death's vastness holds no peace. I come at the end of the long road—neither human, nor devil... All bends to my will." -Demifiend.Anyway Gate wasn't even infected by Sigma, he got infected directly by a fragment of Zero's body and got the original-strain virus instead.
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!Huh. He should have invested in the Doppler vaccine.
The vaccine that never got released.
Stella ~Part 3 (Atelier Shallie)Well it wouldn't have mattered in the long run because Sigma came back with an immunity to the vaccine.
Stella ~Part 3 (Atelier Shallie)I bet its because some reploids were like 'oh i don't need to vaccinate the Hunters will just shoot Sigma until he explodes'
Herd immunity is important dammit
Forever liveblogging the AvengersMega Man X Legacy Collection update: The Mega Man X3 included in the collection will be the SNES version.
Whether we'll be getting the PS1-exclusive content animated FMVs or soundtrack appear in the extras is unconfirmed.
Other asked but unanswered questions include:
- Will there be a rewind feature?
- Will there be dual audio?
- Any plans to re-translate/redub MMX5 or MMX6?
- Will there be an option to turn off the often-intrusive Alia dialogue in MMX5?
- Has The Day of Sigma been remastered in any way?
- Is the bonus museum mode content split between the two collections or is it the same regardless?
Side note, isn't it pretty crazy that modern technology allows for conceivable stuff like rewind gameplay or re-translations?

Lol, IGN cut points from Legacy Collection 1 because it didn't have a rewind feature.
SNES version! Thank heavens.
"We're releasing 2 Mega Man Zero collections for the DS, with reversed controls, unchangeable filtering, and a challenge mode where the only challenge is beating the trash compactor boss in under 10 seconds."
I would be a sucker for a Zero collection with redrawn sprites
Where there's life, there's hope.I like the sprites
Do you mean a graphical bump up or do you mean more in the style of the X games?
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThe boss and helmet designs are great, but the humanoid designs could use more variety.
Where there's life, there's hope.tbh I'd just be happy with a wider field of view for every Zero game.
As great as these games are, sometimes the tiny-ass GBA screen is causing some severe screen crunch

Wrapped up the first season of the Battle Network anime...
- I wonder why the first Program Advance is called "Beta Sword" here. That was what it was called in Battle Network 1, true, but Battle Network 2 should've been out for months by the time the anime originally started airing and that was where the Dream/Life Sword name was made the standard.
- Aside from Aqua Custom, I don't like how Style Changes were implemented. I supposedly runs off a gauge which we never see and of course it always conveniently activates just when Megaman's in a jam. Unlike the games it kinda comes out of nowhere too, but that might not be the show's fault since the subtitles were kinda bad around that point.
- The best animated episode of the bunch outside of the finales (both the Series Fauxnale with Bug Style and the actual final episode with the proto-Dimensional Area) was the one that introduced Net City. The exhibition battle between Numberman and Toadman followed by the Airman fight were short but fun and the animation still holds up; and what do you know, it was the future Sword Art Online guy who was in charge of that episode.
- Speaking of, out of all the scenarios the anime adapted, the Airman one was the closest to its game counterpart, right down to utilizing dungeon mechanics and lifting much of the dialogue verbatim. The only significant difference is that Arashi gets a much more family-friendly fate of being arrested versus being blown up.
- I wonder how many drugs were consumed in the making of some of these filler episodes.
- Something that's bothered ever since I originally watched this show is why are Shadowman's feet colored blue? They're certainly not that color in the games, and it can't be an animation mistake since they're consistently colored that way at least through Axess.
- Some of the anime's Adaption Personality Changes are misses, but some are hits. Turning Mr. Match and Count Zap from rather simple villains to eccentric Large Hams was the best example of that working out. Making Princess Pride a good character from the outset makes her return as a recurring ally in Stream feel a lot more organic that what happened in the games.
- I was rather surprised to discover that the guy who sung this anime opening would later go on to sing this anime opening.
I didn't go into this rewatch expecting high art, but I can see that there is a lot of Franchise Original Sin going on here. Complaints levied against later seasons like there being too much filler or poor usage of game material is still here and very noticeable. The Hub Hikari backstory is completely omitted of course, but there's also stuff like never explaining who Mr. Famous is (he just sporadically shows up here and there to hand out power ups), Bass gets shockingly little focus given his stature in the games and gets completely punked by Gospel, and the "Ultimate Program" that Wily's after which supposedly makes Megaman (and I guess Protoman since he's said to have it in a throwaway line) special is never elaborated on. I would've gladly tossed more than a handful of those standalone filler episodes away in exchange for more relevant stuff.
That said, there were still some things I liked, such as the filler episode towards the end that followed Chaud's POV, some of the crazier episodes were actually fun in their insanity (shout out to the Net Mobile Grand Priz episode!), and the anime actually did something with the fact that Count Zap and Gauss are actually brothers unlike the games. Kind of a tossup really. Well, on to Axess, where the anime really starts to diverge...

My Megaman and MegaTen liveblogsMega Man -related Updates:
- The Puzzle Fighter game for iOS and Android is closing down July 31. ...In case anyone here was actually playing that. (Probably not?)
- Mega Man (or Rockman rather) is getting a concert in Japan.
- The Mega Man X Legacy Collections are getting a soundtrack...in Japan.
- And Famitsu wants to hear from English fans about the 30th anniversary of our favorite Blue Bomber.
And I have answered! thanks Targetmaster Joe!
Just over halfway through Axess, at the part where Chaud uses the Dark Chip on Protoman:
- This is certainly Darker and Edgier than the original anime season that focused on the first two Battle Network games. There's certainly still quite a bit of Saturday morning cartoon wackiness, but the overall zaniness has been noticeably toned down overall. Part of this is the Hate Plague corruption stuff taken from the games, but there's some noticeable Shoo Out the Clowns too; aside from Mayl and Chaud almost all of Lan's friends have been written out in favor there being more adult characters around like Mr. Famous, Kifune, Yuri, and Yuuichiro now being a fixture at SciLab instead of being off traveling all the time like he was in the first season. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but it does stick out a bit watching the two back-to-back.
- So, Cross Fusion. It's definitely a Plot Tumor, but one thing about it that I do find neat that I didn't know about until I bought the Battle Network art book is that all of the Cross Fusion designs were actually created by the games' character designer at Capcom rather than the team at the anime studio (he even notes that it felt funny designing them because usually he's told to simplify designs rather than add to them).
- Half the time the generators for the Dimensional Areas are seen being launched from Regal's satellite base which makes sense...the other half of the time they just magically pop out of the ground which doesn't.
- The violence has definitely started ramping up. There's a lot more dismemberment than before, and Shadowman's deletion at Searchman's hands is still incredibly brutal even if it's all Bloodless Carnage.
- Burnerman is the most entertaining Darkloid thanks to his voice actor hamming it up. It's a pity he never comes back as an Asteroid or Zoanoroid Navi, but I guess he did get the most spotlight episodes out of them all save for of course Shademan, Bubbleman...and Beastman for some reason.
- That said, Videoman was more fun than I remembered; he gets some funny Leaning on the Fourth Wall lines and movie shout outs. I guess his deletion is a case of Shoo Out the Clowns as well since it occurs right before the two-parter with Regal deposing Shademan and Protoman's corruption since I recall Axess's second half having most of the darkest episodes in all the anime.
I remember the megaman x6 retranslation someone did. a good amount of lore was found out because of it.
